Quote:Though I understand it's a joke thread I'm still a wee taken back with all the petition comments all because someone called the other by sexy.
I certainly don't flip out or roll out the semi veiled insults because someone calls me hun and it happens more often I'd care to remember.
If it's really that troubling iRL to be called sexy in a game I would suggest :
A) - Don't make a sexy character.
B) - Make a male character (unless you're going to RP that character and the gender matters).
C) - Ask the person not to do so. Communication? Iz good.
D) - Too awkward to ask the person not to do so, or the person insists? Left-click, ignore, keep on playing.
I'm probably interjecting a sour note in a (I think) joke thread, but the reaction to a simple 'hi sexy' is disproportionate. A 'Hi sexy wanna cyber?' yes, all of those, though personally I don't argue with troublesome (read stupid) people, I just choose the D option.
Do you think it's appropriate for someone in the game over the age of 18 to go up to your 13 year old sister/niece/daughter and make comments loaded with sexual innuendo?
This is a teen rated game and I can understand why some people find those comments offensive regardless of their age or gender. -
Quote:The potential for extreme overpowering exists here.
Let's look at a Brute
Primary: SS/Fire
Jab
Fire Sword
Haymaker
Build Up
KO Blow
Taunt
Rage
Fire Sword Circle
Foot Stomp
Yeah, just a LITTLE overpowered.
Secondary:Stone/SR
Rock Armor
Focused Senses
Earth's Embrace
Practiced Brawler
Rooted
Evasion
Crystal Armor
Quickness
Granite Armor
You would be able to take Practiced Brawler instead of Rooted. And you could get both Quickness AND Granite Armor. Giving you the best part of Stone Armor, while circumventing a lot of the downsides to taking it. You still couldn't jump in Granite form, but you would have mez protection that doesn't slow you down, and Quickness to help make up for the -speed and -recharge of Granite form. You would be nearly unkillable, while giving up very little of your damage output. Pair that with the primary I outlined above and you would have a seriously broken, overpowered character.
Interesting idea, but there's no way I can see that it could be balanced to keep things like this from happening.
This pretty much covers it. -
I don't mean to double post but here is my contribution from that other thread.
You could buy the science booster and then the next time they do that you could change into a monstrous guy in orange prison coveralls and say, "You MY little puppy now B**ch! Daddy gonna make you squeal like a pig!"

Quote:That's the one I was thinking of.Yeah I saw that after my post. In any case it looks like I was definitely getting confusing different things that i read. I found the source I recall getting it from which was basically an unsubstantiated rumor based on a survey NCSoft did.

Now the topic of "Universal Enhancements" has been discussed before, I believe it was mentioned once in an old article at Massively. I also think it was indirectly referenced by Castle in a thread about raising the level cap.
Quote:I just don't recall seeing anything about it being included in the next expansion.Castle:
Why? What does raising the level cap actually do?
Let's say we raised the cap to 60 tomorrow. Here is a list of things that would NOT be included:
More power selections.
More Slots to allocate.
More Inspiration slots.
Why? Because those things are already at a point where players can do nearly anything.
We do have some tricks up our sleeves, but they don't involve changing the level cap. -
-
Quote:That's not entirely true, one of the features of Going Rogue is new content for level 50s that will make allow them to get stronger (I believe the term used was "Universal Enhancement Slots").
Sorry but you are going to have to provide a link to the thread where a dev that said that, or an official release about "Going Rogue" where it says that because if they had said it we'd be seeing dozens of threads discussing it on the forums.
edit: I do see in that article you provided where it says "and difficult tasks for level 50 characters to do that make them more powerful." but that could mean new IO sets, or something else. -
If you want to play a game that allows you to pick and choose your individual powers I suggest you try CO. Your account will be waiting for you when you return.
-
Quote:I assume you are being sarcastic, considering you listed quite a few things to do at level 50.
The fact is that if there is no End Game then hiding it with a long arduous climb to level 50 isn't the answer.
Also, if at level 50 it isn't obvious to Players what else they can do, and what the End Game is, then that is something that the developers need to address.
No one should have to ASK what is there to do in a game at a certain level. The game should be so designed that it steers and leads the player into the various activities that are available.
No I'm not joking. Every month or two someone posts a desire to raise the level cap or whines that there isn't enough to do once they hit 50.
The only reason some players don't understand what else there is to do once they hit 50 is because they have locked themselves into the mindset they got from other games that the game doesn't start till they hit the highest level.
That is not how this game was designed. We were given 132 character slots for a reason. To make lots of different characters and explore all the various combinations and styles of play that come with leveling those characters.
Our next new expansion "Going Rogue" opens up the chance to run heroes thru villain content and vice-versa. It's not raising the level cap or adding tons of level 50 missions.
This game is about the journey. Deal with it. If you can't accept this simple fact then you are missing out on the best things this game has to offer.
The journey started 5 years ago and it's still going strong with no end in sight. -
Quote:I don't know what your archtype is, but grouping with other people at the AE and running missions designated as 'Farm' type missions there should level you up fairly quickly.
I totally understand the drive to level 50, the lower levels are an unnecessary and frustrating grind. You realise that so many powersets and archetypes only 'Come Into THeir Own' at a particular level, or it takes 25 levels before you get the 'Defining Power' of the set or some crap like that.
Totally unnecessary.
If you want to hit a level 50 character, or 100 level 50 characters you go right ahead. THere will always be missions to run and things to do now that the AE is available. You can even use the Flashback Feature and do old story arcs etc. so you won't miss out on a thing.
And if you have more than one level 50 you are more flexible for teaming, and in your Super Group you can jump on whichever character type a particular team in needs.
This whole 'Journey to level 50' ...play for 800 hours and get to 50 is not for everyone.
We must remember that this is just ONE way to design and play this game. A game like Guildwars runs you through level 1 to 20 in a few hours and then you have a max level character with all your powers and the game continues from there.
I think what players may be realising is that the majority of people really don't like that 'Journey' to level 50, simply because in most MMORPGs after you do it once it isn't fun.
By playing in the AE those players can see every single Map Type and Monster Type that the game has to offer. What are they supposedly missing out on really? Not a thing, in my view.
And those same players that skip the content in their mad dash to level 50 then get to sit around with very little to do because there is no end game here. (TaskForces, Hami raids, Rikti ship raids, PvP, AE missions, Newspaper / Radio missions, and a maybe half a dozen contacts with repeatable missions)
Soon they get bored then whine and complain about having nothing to do, and get told the same thing by everyone. Roll up another character.
They either adapt and make new characters, or they sit around running what level 50 content there is, or they leave never to be missed by anyone. -
I'm just impressed with everything our NCSoft Overlords have been able to get put into the game since they got the Cryptic monkey off of our dev teams backs.

Quote:Try soloing a Kin/Rad Defender.
That should make for an entertaining thread.
I don't have a kin/rad def, but I am currently soloing:
An Earth/Emp Troller that only has Healing Aura
A Rad/Rad Def that only has Rad Infection, Enervating Field, Lingering Rad, and Choking Cloud
A Sonic/Sonic Def that only has Sonic Siphon and Sonic Dispersion
An FF/Energy Def that only has PFF, Force Bolt and Dispersion Bubble
And a Kin/Ice Def that only has Siphon Power, Repel, and Siphon Speed
My first 50 is a Kin/Psy Blast Def that only took Siphon Power, Repel, Siphon Speed, Inertial Red, Transferance, and Fulcrum Shift. It took me 2 1/2 years to reach level 50 soloing.
I'm trying to make these alts with no support buffs or as few as possible unless the system doesn't allow me a choice. -

Quote:I know... and its funny, i got -fame for the post. Notice the time travel part. Oh well, it balances the +fame i got from my AE foodfight thread.
I find it silly getting -fame here for giving at 100% truthful, even if misleading, just cause someone wanted to know the fastest way to 50.
BTW Cathedral is the fastest way, even though it is disabled.
Edit: looks like more people want to defame me for being "incorrect"
Get it right, I am correct and misleading. At least look it up before you are gonna give a reason.
I just read your CoP suggestion and what I saw was you advising the OP to take advantage of exploits. So I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that was why you got neg rep.
Advising someone to do something that you know will get their account banned isn't cool especially when you do it to a new player (if the OP's reg date is any indication of how long he's been playing).Quote:There is a glitch (exploit if you will) that gives you mish complete xp, while not finishing the mish.
Too bad reps are anonymous. I'd like to give whoever nailed you a +1. -
Quote:I've played CoX for going on two years now. And never before have I had this problem: I can't find any teams. Just today I logged on my brute hoping to get in some missions for a while, only to find out no one in Cap au Diable wanted a level 17 brute on their team.
Why? They're all in AE, getting their powerleveling on, and didn't want to bother with a measly level 17 anything!
I can't play this game solo anymore, it's just so gosh darned B O R I N G. AE is ruining this game for the people who want to team with fellow players. Is there a solution to my problem?
So what you are really complaining about is not that there are no teams available, but that YOU don't want join the teams that are available because YOU don't like how they are playing.
I don't like running AE missions myself, but I don't complain when my choices force me to play solo. -
Quote:Then what you do is set up an automatic payment using your debit/credit card. That way your account stays active the entire time you are on deployment/assignment and when you return you'll have accrued all those nifty vet rewards. So if you are in a line of work where you may very well be sent off somewhere without high speed internet for 2 or more years, you would be pretty much screwed. (aka working for the DoD as military personnel or a civilian contractor.)
Civilian contractors get paid enough to afford it, and military personnel will have very few places to spend their money on in combat zones. Married military will already have their sub figured into their budget. Heck their spouse might even play the game while they are deployed. -

Quote:Good catch. It doesn't say anything about betas after I14. Just maybe I13 and definitely I14.Wasn't HeroCon attendance only a guarantee for i13 and i14's closed beta?

Quote:Every time I was not part of closed beta I got a different message than what I get now. Right now unless they have changed things you will get to the log in screen. When you enter in your password you are taken to the page where you see the training room server. Clicking on the training room server then about thirty seconds later you get the following message. Lost connection to DB server.
In the past I got the following message which I think is far superior. The message is as best as I can remember. Sorry but the training room is closed for the beta testing of issue (insert number). Your account has not be flagged as part of the closed beta test. Sorry for the inconvenience. Now if the message we get is something like this it would be better.
This way someone that just reactivated their account and their account would normally be allowed to log on to the training room they might think that something is radically wrong with the test server unless they have been keeping up to date about the game. I suggest that they use the message that I earlier said that I normally got when I was not part of the closed beta.
It never occurred to you that one of the things being tested during this closed beta is a new message which obviously isn't working yet. -
Quote:I think my favorite thing so far is seeing how many people interpret disagreeing with a bad or stupid idea as a "personal attack".
So tell me then, I got a rep comment that simply says "rascist". Is that a personal attack or a disagreement with a bad idea?
Now I laughed at the comment as I don't get offended by anonymous snipes. -

I'll take you one step further ShadowNate.
Cows eat plants.
Cow Flatulance contains methane which is contributing to global warming.
By eating cows you are saving the enviroment.
Vegetarians eat plants.
Plants produce oxygen.
Vegetarians are destroying the enviroment.
Save the planet. Kill a vegetarian.

We want that to.
