This is one of the few things the devs have said they will never allow in the game.

Quote:Great suggestion!
Maybe mission is bugged.
Perhaps individual or team cannot locate remaining glowie or remaining mob, and have waited over an hour for an administrator to assist them.
Or
You simply want to stop current task.
It comes down to having a choice. Do not fear options - having them should be welcomed and appreciated.
Sorry but the ability to drop missions is to report them as bugged and clear it from your list of open missions, not to get rid of a mission because you don't like timed missions.
Since Timed missions have a fail feature built in players don't have to worry about waiting for a GM to come and fix things. Simply file a regular bug report and move on. The mission will be available to be cleared when the timer expires.
And players already have a choices available
1. Run the mission.
2. Do a different mission. If the mission holder is on a team then he/she has the choice of up to 23 other missions to run. That's more than enough to keep the team occupied until the timer runs out. -
Sorry Yogi, but I agree with the others.
Save the costume. Copy the bio to notepad and reroll. It only takes an hour to get to level 10. -

Since the OP is obviously closeminded he probably won't bother to check the link FW provided. So here's what it shows . . .

Quote:This not a great idea like my others, and I guess I can do it in my ID.
Lets have two origins.
My arrows are Tech, so that my first origin and power
My energy blast is magic so my origin can be magic
See where I am going hahah, Then everyone can see what origin your powers are from....
But then you would need to run to two stores
but that is ok!!
I use the AE building anyways. Or RWZ.
This isn't even your idea. You stole this from Anti-Proton.

Quote:66 months as of today, haven't recieved an invite yet. Haven't been able to check to see if I can get onto the test server yet cuz my system crashed and I had to reload windows onto my computer. The test server updater is loading extremely slow. So I'm hoping when it finally finishes I'll be able to get in.please holler at me if your NOT in the DP beta??!! I am (a vet), but still have not gotten the invite. Did I offend Positron at sometime or something. I'm starting to get a tich paranoid here. Well, that and I have been chomping at the bit for GR and Dual Pistols. Not so much the Demon MM, but for sure the DP. It is no violation of NDA if you are NOT in the Beta and say that. Danke. I guess misery just loves company.

And for the forumcops out there the question is "Could you please drop a note here if you are a 60 Vet and NOT in the Beta?" There ya go Alex. -
Quote:That would be fine.Might I propose an easy, clean answer? Put Jetpack Quartermasters next to BAB, Ms. Liberty, and Kalinda. There. Let them buy jetpacks from level one. Don't change powers at all otherwise. This lets them know that there are alternate methods of travel powers early on. Or even just someone telling about the safeguard missions and that travel powers are rewards for the early ones. Just one NPC TELLING the newbs some of this stuff would make things a lot cleaner.

Quote:God forbid new players use common sense and read the manual, ask questions on the forums, check out the games wiki, ask on the help channel. You know, use the information gathering tools the devs provided before jumping blindly into the game. The "nay" argument revolves around "You can just get a flight pack at level 1" and the "yay" argument revolves around "Inexperienced players are unaware that they should save the inspirations (they're told to use in the tutorial) to sell at the market and then trek across a lvl 40+ zone to reach a portal to another zone where they can use that influence to buy a jet pack before treking back again to the newbie zones and starting the game. Heck, they might not even know about the pack from the Atlas bank mission if they wind up following the contact chain to the Hollows or something."
So what if you just started the game (post-tutorial) with a 1 hour jet pack and a pop-up window saying, in effect, "Hey, here's a one hour jet pack. You can get a two hour jet pack by completing the Atlas Park bank mission between levels 5-10"?
Hell, a simple question in broadcast will get half a dozen people trying to answer or act as a guide if they need to be shown where something is.
And just because they are new players doesn't mean they are drooling idiots. Every one of us was a new player at one time and we managed to figure things out just fine. In fact when many of us were new the game wasn't as easy to play as it is now.
The game doesn't need to be dumbed down any further. -
Quote:Players can also get a Raptor Pack at level 1 by simply buying one from one of the Jetpack Vendors. There's nothing to explain. You can get a Raptor Pack at LEVEL 5. The only problem is that this isn't explained well enough and people miss it. I can't say messing with the powers system is superior to simply making sure people are more aware.
Villains can get a Raptor Pack in Grandville, in front of the Lord Recluse statue, near Arbiter Apolis.

Heroes can get a Raptor Pack in Firebase Zulu: On the entry point platform (6507, 1088, 1726.8)

Those zones are open to characters of all levels. The only restriction is they have to have enough inf to buy the jetpack, and that can easily be accomplished by simply selling the two inspirations that everyone gets for going thru the tutorial at the market. -
-
Quote:The vets could sit on their thumbs and twiddle the day away for all I care. I just think travel powers at an earlier level is a fantastic idea. d;D
Everyone can already get a travel power at an earlier level. No one is stopping us from getting them. The problem is that some people don't want to make the effort to get them. They want freebies.
1. Sell the inspirations you get from doing the tutorial and buy a jetpack from the vendor. This can be done at level 1.
2. Buy the mini-booster from the NCSoft online store for $4.99 and all your characters on your account will have a jetpack for 30 days.
3. Pay for your account using the $20. time card and the mini-booster jetpack is included as a part of the cards activation code.
4. Play the game for 45 minutes, and get a jetpack as your mission reward for completing thr safeguard bank mission in Kings Row or Mayhem Mission in Port Oakes.
5. Trade in 10 candy canes and 10,000 inf to the Candy Keeper when the Chalet is open and get a Jingle Jet.
Anyone that claims they can't fly before level 14 is making absolutely no effort to get that power. -
There are very few suggestions that the devs have flat out said, "No. This will never happen." to, and this is one of those suggestions.
I also agree with Thirty-Seven that we'd be better off if the devs removed the ability to pull any enhamcements off of a build. -
Quote:This is a good time to start playing. In the upcoming months they will be releasing a brand new paid expansion called "Going Rogue" and everyone will be making new characters so they can experience the new stuff from the ground up. Theres gonna be new zones, new graphics, new character archetypes, new content, and the ability for villains to redeem themselves and become heros, and heros to fall from grace and become villains.Hey guys and gals,
I've been playing MMO's for years, from WoW, Guildwars, Warhammer and now to Aion and LOTRO. I like the graphics of Aion but absolutely hate the grind of Aion after level 25.
So my question is this.... Is it worthwhile to start playing a game where people have been playing for months or even years. In LOTRO when I started a new account, I realized that there were no players the newbie zones and that meant that there were no players to group with in instances.
If I start playing this game am I going to be running solo until I get to a high level?
Any ideas?
Thanks
This is going to be a very exciting year to play CoH. -
Quote:Hmmmm people forgot to add this popular MMO to the list of what not to do AoC. Rated 18+ or M, how ever you like it.
It had nudity, violence, and (possibly dunno for a fact) profanity. What happened after the first bit, people freaked out cause of nudity in the game. Parents (not all...some) will buy any game for a kid then freak out once they see what they are playing.
So for them to go through that type of fiasco, and possible legal problems(you never know). I would say no to this idea. Keep it at its status quo.
That's the game I was thinking of when I made my comment, I just didn't want to recommend it since the mods tend to frown on recommending other games outside of Comic and Hero/Villain Culture. -

While you are right to disagree with the OP's suggestion. I'd like to point out that CO wasn't ruined by microtransactions. They are only the most recent nail in that games coffin amongst a host of other problems.

Quote:All travel powers are unlocked at level 6 once you've kept your account active for 60 months.I think all travel powers should be unlocked at level 6. This whole "it's not that hard" thing just serves as a detriment to new players. Earlier travel powers means earlier access to the "Woo, I can fly!" aspect (getting to fly again is why I gave CoX a second chance), which is one of the biggest draws and best aspects of this game.

Quote:While I agree on your point of view regarding being shot into a spawn by a random SB, I also would like to add that if you're trying to avoid spawns, you're most likely not running straight towards them, and if you do it's probably because they're far enough away for you to not care about changing direction yet, thus unless you have the reflexes of a drugged sloth, you'll be able to hit the brakes.
However, if you're heading straight for a group, my guess is you're going there to fight anyway.
...I also would like to add that you still have a point. SB can get you killed, but it should be a very rare occurance. Sub par hardware, lousy connection, physical conditions etc are valid reasons I've heard for disliking or even being unable to play with SB applied, and that should of course be a reason to avoid buffing that player.
Also, the reason I wrote that was because of statements like this below, which I interpret as meaning all buffs (fortitude, forge, bubbles/shields, heat loss etc), but recognizing you from years back, I'm pretty sure you were aware of that and just wanted to point out the SB issue.
I'll revise my previous statement to exclude the unanticipated application of drive-by SB then.
No argument that death by SB from normal street spawns are extremely rare occurances, but I wasn't just thinking of the standard street spawns that occur and are usually easy to ignore . . .
Let me quickly add that I appreciate your willingness to revise your statement, and the following is just to illustrate some other situations where SB death can occur.
I was thinking also of the mobs you encounter when you run across the path of an ambush or a mob chasing someone else. These are an everyday occurance which can be easy to avoid if you see them coming but that sudden burst of speed . . .
Another factor that contributes to SB deaths is running on Auto Pilot (I am gulity of this a lot). We all do it from time to time. We're doing something boring but necessary, like traveling between missions, Autorun is on and we're paying just enough attention to the screen to get where we're going safely. We're probably even multitasking. Talking to a teammate on Vent, while typing a response to an SGmate in SG channel. The game may even be split screened and we're glancing at a post on the forums as well. Then BAM! SB'd and the furball ensues.
How often have we been in the middle of typing when a fight started. LOL Or tried to type without being set to type and hit R and went into a mob. heh heh
Anyway, I'd say 99% of the time buffs are useful and applied with the best of intentions by Good Samaritans.

Quote:I'm sorry Nerf but this statement fails only because of the unanticipated application of drive-by SB's. Almost everyone can navigate with an SB on when they know in advance it being applied. However that is not the case when someone SB's random people with no warning.2. So you need to learn how to master your toon? Mastery includes being able to handle supercharged performance as well, and if you somehow manage to get to 50 without learning to play your toon, the problem is with you, not the occasional random street buff.
We all quickly learn how to keep a safe distance from mobs to avoid drawing fire as we navigate city zones. Even low level characters can move around PI if they are careful.
The problem with unasked for SB's is that the sudden burst of speed can easily send anyone careening into an unwanted firefight before they can stop simply because the buff was unexpected.
That's when people start getting angry. There they were on their way to put that wing recipe they just crafted at the tailor in Steel Canyon or Independence Port. They are almost there when someone nails them with an SB and they suddenly find themselves rocketing into a mob that gets them ganked. Now they have to start over at the hospital at the other end of the friggin zone. -
Maybe I overlooked it when I read thru the posts but I didn't see any mention of Ninja Run from the Natural Booster Pack for $9.99.
Also players can buy the Mini Booster for $5 bucks and get the 30 day temp jetpack on all of the characters on their account. -
Quote:Like I told you in the PMs we exchanged it's your build and if you plan to do nothing but solo Build it anyway you like.... (Whispers.. Still think you should consider the Regen and Recovery auras they will help you even soloing and they do autohit BUT do what you like).
I appreciate what we discussed via PM,
It's just that when I returned to the thread and saw Snow_Globe defending (which I also appreciate) my build choices, I wanted to make it clear that in hindsight my motives weren't entirely pure when I made those characters. There was some pettyness and perhaps some passive/aggressive motives.
I know the points you were making about my build choices were valid and constructive intended to help me out.
I can't say how soon I'll get back to those characters but when I do there will probably be some changes made based on an individual basis.
For example I don't forsee changing my Rad/Rad because his concept is that his radiation is harmful so he'll focus on debuffing rather than buffing.
However I'll probably put a team friendly second build together for my earth/emp.
