You really have to work at it to make a bad character. Sure you'll run across build nazi's that will act superior and tell you your doing it wrong but ignore those infrequent idiots. As long as you're having fun you're doing it right.

You will have to get used to the playstyles each archetype requires. A blaster doesn't play like a scrapper, and neither play like a controller. Playstyles are something you learn by doing.

Oh and welcome to the game.

Yes, and the OP is offended that people have the nerve to sell things for less than he thinks is appropriate.

Just an FYI. As this poster I'm quoting has said we can't get accurate numbers using the Search feature. Many players make use of the /hide feature and Search will not list those people.

Type in /hide and you'll get a window that allows you to customize just who can find you. We got this feature because we had a huge problem with RMTers (gold farmers) harassing players with spam.

Point of playing an MMORPG to me is to have a big global community and even at aus peak times its very very low.

Coincidentally the restrictions you are dealing with on your trial account were also added because of RMT abuse.

I strongly urge that you pop in on the Justice forum below and ask some of our Aussie players to meet you online. They'l be able to make your CoH experience more enjoyable, and give you tips on global channels they use to game with people when it's your prime time for playing once and if you get a regular account.

dont forget poeple also have multiple toons they store stuff on too, or even multiple accounts, so i highly doubt that hoarding is an issue since poeple already can do that

as for the original idea, i say the recipes should be intertwined with the enhancement storage instead of making a new object

You can doubt it all you want but I was in I9 closed beta and the devs flat out told us the reason was to prevent hoarding.

And yes a character can hold 20 recipes, but you are forgeting that it wasn't until recently that we could store items in the market indefinitely. The market originally had the 60 day rule where everything left in the market slots got deleted after 60 days.

Every 2 months some moron would make an angry post that he lost hundreds of millions when the markets 60 day rule deleted everything he was storing.

Oh yeah players could also use their other characters to store recipes. Of course they had to have two accounts to safely move recipes between characters or trust someone to help them move recipes.

So yes hoarding was possible if a player was willing to jump thru hoops to do it.

Now don't be confused, we're just explaining what the devs told us. I doubt anyone would object if the devs changed their minds and gave us recipe storage.

That's it in a nutshell. It's also the same reason they gave us when they reduced the amount SG salvage bins could hold from 2500 to 30.

And I understand that personal and SG storage are separate. My issue isn't keeping my salvage from other people. Its simply that I do not have enough space to keep everything I want to keep. The point of my bringing up implementing a permission option to allow coalitioned SGs to use each others' bins is because we have a large SG with multiple divisions but only our main SG has a base.
I understand there was a bug and it was fixed for the reasons you stated but nowhere did I say "Put it back to the way it was." I asked that a permission option be added.
Sorry. The way it was worded it sounded like you were confusing the two so I was just trying to clarify that there is difference between personal storage and SG storage. I know a lot of SG's allow senior members to use bins as additional personal storage but anyone of the same rank can access those bins.

The second part I didn't know if you knew that we used to be able to do exactly what you suggested, so I mentioned it and why it was removed. I think that if it was possible to fix the bug without removing that ability they would have done so.

And as much as I'd like it I think the devs feel it's more complicated than it's worth to work on at this time.

Whether it's charity, a mistake, a sacrifice to the gods or cleaning house, it honestly doesn't change the fact that it's a bargain and I'll take it.

The main point was to say that even if I don't get it, myself, I don't really HAVE to, as I absolutely accept that people do this. Their time, their Inf, their call. It's not my place to criticise.

And, really, if someone's undercutting prices, I'll sell something else. If that someone can keep undercutting prices in general, that I may not end up as rich, but it means I won't NEED to be as rich when it comes time to buy, because I'll buy off him. I've no idea how that would work out in a real-world economy where you actually have to worry about its stability, but in a game I'm perfectly happy just looking after myself and letting God and the Marketeers sort out the economy.
Don't worry Sam, you and I have no problems. I was just sharing the way I look at the market and why I sell my drops and items I craft for cheap prices.

Aside from our selling preferences I think you and I pretty much share the same opinions about how other people use the market and how it affects us as individuals.

Edit: Uhm What Impish Kat said.

A lot of people say they keep oranges and sell whites and yellows but even whites are really expensive on the market these days and I'd rather not have to pay for them there if I earned them already.

I think 50, maybe 75, is a decent, not too crazy, number of salvage for personal storage space.
Either that or make a permissions option to allow coalitioned SGs to use each others' storage bins.
First, personal storage (the Vault) is already 50. SG salvage bins are not personal storage. Anyone with permission can add or remove items from the bins.

Allowing coalitioned SG's to share storage was a bug that they fixed because it allowed people to get around SG security permissions and steal items they weren't allowed to remove.

Without passing judgement when they first started the vet reward program they didn't have as wide a selection of things to offer so they used costumes as filler. The game had been out for about three years and most people would be getting the rewards immediately. Since that time they've gotten away from costumes as rewards as they developed new perks.

How about this Sam. Do you have any idea how much I'm out at the end of the day after selling my stuff for less than what it cost to craft them?

$15 bucks. My subscription fee. No more, no less. And on the days I choose to sell all my drops at an NPC store instead of the market I'm out the same $15 bucks.

It doesn't matter how much I sell my stuff for because it's make-believe money in a pretendy fun-time game. Unlike the OP I'm not going to get my sphincter in a pinch worrying about market prices. The market has nothing I need to enjoy the game. It's an optional feature I use when the mood hits me. Usually I end up going to the market because it's closer than the NPC store.
  18. I've run into this problem myself a few times. /signed for longer names.

(typically) newer players: Yes! Great idea! I want some of the rewards now instead of waiting! And I'd rather get good rewards instead of crappy costume pieces that I don't ever want.

(typically) older players: No! The rewards were created for long term vets of the game and should be awarded accordingly. It diminishes my reward that I got by playing for 6 years if someone playing for 3 months could also get it.

tech savvy players: The tech involved in creating a system to change all current vet awards and future vet rewards into a token system along with a UI is much more effort than they would want to spend at this time.

Personally, I currently agree the most with the third argument. Though I feel that all three have valid points.

    You forgot one.

Common Sense players: Allowing players to use tokens to buy their favorite vet rewards as soon as possible will only lead those same players to start whining and crying that the remaining vet rewards all suck after they cherry picked the ones they wanted.

Leaving things as they are means that while they may not like every single reward there is always something to look forward to.

No idea of the validity of this, just reporting it.

Big deal. In 2007 Transformers producer Tom DeSanto secured the rights to turn CoH into a movie.

Selling level 50 recharge IOs for 300,000 or less is IMO not very clever. At the rate you're earning (only accounting for the time you actually spend making the enhancements and posting them) you'd be far far better off spending your time doing task forces for merits (and inf) and then spending the merits on Miracle +Recovery IOs and selling them for around 200 million a shot.

What you're doing is a relative waste of your time. You'll find players will pay 400,000 and even if you aren't the only one selling at that price you'll still be getting a much better return on your investment of time.

PS. If your intention is to undercut everyone else trying to make a reasonable profit, to drive us out of the market so you can then raise your prices and still have the whole market then you can forget it, because I'm not going anywhere (and I very much doubt I'm the only one). I'm going to keep checking the prices in Wentworth, forcing you to grind away your time as that's the only way you're going to keep me from making a reasonable profit from my time. You want to work at this like it's a real job? Be my guest. It's your time to waste. When I'm not checking the market I'll be the one doing TFs and making your rate of return look pathetic.

Dear players suffering from cranial rectal inversions, do not attempt to presume to know the motivations of people that sell things on the market. Many of them don't give a rats rectum about the market prices of basic IO's. They are "rich" beyond their wildest dreams from selling real items like purples, and their goal is to unlock recipes they can craft on their remote crafting table.

There are also a lot of players that realize that they don't need billions of inf to play the game. They know a character can easily be self sufficient without worrying about getting the most for their drops.

There are also players that like to perform random acts of kindness, and sell stuff cheaply because they know it will get to someone that needs it.

Then there are the players that get a kick out of pissing off the market nazi's by simply selling stuff they don't need at extremely low prices. Then they get to sit back and laugh as they post angry threads on the forums.

Getting upset about people "underselling" things on the market is as stupid as getting upset that people have their forum rep turned off so you can't see if they have a positive or negative rep.

And every member knows, what I say goes...all 140 or more members (minus alts). You might think I'm a dictator. Maybe I am...but I'm well-liked by all members or they wouldn't stay there. If I go inactive for more than a few days, I get emails asking if everything is alright.

But you DO have a valid concern. Some leaders/Members have their own storage bins...they should be given time to empty them. So give a transferring SG 14 days before it processes, and an automated message warning people.

Make Character Transfers permanently free so people can come to the new server and get back what they lose.

And the Superleader Toon should be transferred along with the SG, so that it maintains it's structure.

Wow. It took you almost a year to think up a response . . . necroposting FTW!
  23. Why doesn't the OP simply sell the SG, and then once he has transfered to a new server use the proceeds to start up his new SG.

Obviously you went back to the contact while the temp power still had charges left and tried to get more shivans. When you failed to get the power refilled you learned you couldn't refill the power.

That's scientific evidence or empirical research. As long as you have charges left in the temp power you won't be able to refill it or get another one. You can run that experiment as often as you like and you will get the same result.

Now that being said I have no objection to some rewriting of what the contact says to let players know all charges have to be used before they can get the power again.
