People use pathetic excuses like that when they don't want to tell their friend that they don't like his/her favorite game. They were never going to buy the game in the first place, even tho people could buy it from places like Amazon for less than $5 bucks for years.

    AE Suggestion

Custom Rewards for the mission architect.

I'll give you an example of what I mean because it's late and I've just driven 30 hours...I am a bit tired.

So a Subordinate goes to their Villain Group leader and says "Hey boss, I'm looking for that snazzy upgrade<insert purple IO>, and I hear you might have a bead on it."

The leader has a group of missions he's created previously and saved. He goes to the Architect people, sets up the mission and puts the purple (that he has in his inventory) as the reward (or whatever the reward for the mission he wants to be specific). He then sets that reward to that player (so the next player running that mission won't accidentally receive it) and tells the Subordinate "Listen, I got this thing I need done. Go do it, and I'll give you this snazzy new thing".

The Subordinate goes to the mission, runs it and gets the snazzy new item.

Other things this could accomplish might be an auto-super group rank (you run this mission you become the next rank up in the SG) or any other thing that can be "given" to another player (custom super group badges...maybe?). To help prevent abuse to a given SG you can set lockout permissions with various criteria such as membership in the group, non-membership in the group, anyone below a certain rank in a group, and numerous other variables.
    No.

I don't keep up on the latest trends. Imperious Task Forces used to give a WHOLE LOT of xp, last I looked. Lots of XP-onna-stick (Shadow Cysts- do they still give that much XP?) , lots of Elite Bosses, and about a thousand required kills.
Good point about the PvP. I don't do it so it never occurs to me that it might be a factor. My bad there.

TF's have always been a great way of leveling fast. I consider doing TF's to be playing the game.

I like missions and such, but if there's another way I'd be much appreciated in knowing.

    Thanks...
No the devs make a point of removing AE exploits as fast as possible. Also with super sidekicking people no longer have to wait till they get the perfect balance of high and low level characters. Just 1 level 50 can sk 7 other players.

That means people no longer hang out in the AE building like they did in June 09. They actually play the game now because finding teams and leveling is much easier unless of course someone is hanging out in the AE waiting to be PL'd.

The OP didn't lose the character. He can contact CS and get it restored to his account as long as he has the character name and when he deleted it. CS can go back several months to restore a character as long as that info is available.

However, I would agree with lightning the no-team-invites restriction: may invite a character to team if mutual friends (both characters have each other on friends list - and the error should state as such when attempting to invite when the stipulations are not met). The devs would probably have to make new code for this, but it would go a long way to making the trial "environment" more friendly to non-RMT folks.

Additionally, (again, new code), allow trial accounts to REPLY to tells, but not start their own conversations. Could even be a new command, /trialreply or something. The error message when using standard reply (/r /reply) or standard tells should state the availability of the /trialreply command.
The mutual friends list teaming sounds good as does replying to tells. Also a flag or something that makes it easy to spot who is on a trial when using the search feature, and a orange or yellow Trial Account title so passers by can easily spot people on trials.

As I've been working with a lot of new players of late (shameless plug for the Mentor Project, link in my sig) and talking to them has me questioning some of the trial restrictions currently in place.

Here's what I'd like to accomplish - I'd like to offer up some of my observations, along with some possible changes and get your feedback. In turn, I'd then make a thread in Suggestions with the finished project.

You can see a list of the restrictions here - http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Trial_Account

    So in no order,

    1) The Trial Account/Buy Full Version box. I honestly don't have a problem with this, but if you reposition the box, it will automatically reset to the center of the screen every time you zone or go in/out of a mission.

Personally, I'd prefer that it remembers where I moved the box for each session - in other words, if I logout and login, it should be back to the center of the screen, but if I move it and then zone, it stays where I moved it.

    2) The 50k inf limit. To be perfectly honest here, I have no idea if that's appropriate for a lvl 14 toon to buy their enhs and so on. I think so, but maybe someone has some insight on if it should be higher (to say 1mil)?

    3) Trial accounts can't walk up to a MA terminal, search for a mission, and then try out a MA mission - they have to ask someone to start a team and invite them.

No problem with them not being able to create a MA mission, but not being able to try one on their own?

On a related note, currently a trial player recieves a note saying "You're unable to acces Architect Entertainment from this location", in case someone asks you what's going on.

    4) I'm guessing trial accounts are prevented from sending team invites because of a concern of spammers doing a /i then spamming a /g message, but I wonder how much of a concern that is compared to a couple of friends trying the game out and having to ask for someone to start a team for them.

    Comments?

    5) On a related note, global channels. As mentioned in my intro post, I run into a lot of new players these days and many are on trials. Until they get the full version, they can't join the Mentor global channel and part of me wonders if this restriction is still necessary.

As it stands, a lot of channels are silence on join or became so when trials could join global channels, to prevent the spamming.

Is this still a concern vs. trial players being able to get involved in what is arguably the most important social activity (as in widespread and everyday part of our in-game social lives) - that of participating in a global channel.

What about adding an option to global channels allowing them to prevent trial accounts from joining?

    Any other thoughts?

    tl;dr version - I like pie.

    1. I have no problem with that change being made.

    2. Hell no. Trials have no need for more than 50k, and it's perfect where it is to keep gold farmers from using Trial accounts to

    a. Farm
    b. act as mules for inf transfers to their customers.

    3. Hell no. This makes it difficult for Gold farmers to take advantage of MA farms and exploits. It also means it's more likely that people on trials will get out of Atlas Park and go to other zones. One of the bad rthings about the MA is that too many new players never leave the AE building in AP and have no idea how vast this game is and then they get bored and quit.

    4. Yep, RMTers are the reason for this and it is still a huge problem. If the lighten any of the trial restrictions the goldfarmers will be right back in force.

    5. So yes all the restrictions are still necessary. The only reason we aren't being constantly harrassed buy the RMT sites is because the restrictions are working.

Trials can use the /hc global channel. Giving them more global channels will only result in people editing their chat boxes and removing those channels from their chat boxes so they won't see RMT spam.

We need to add some spice to the mix. Make them drop something that ONLY GMs drop. Something that makes people want to hunt them besides the "Hey I need 2 more merits to do a roll can we kill a GM" moments. Some examples of such things:

    1. GM recipies! We have PvP recipes, why not GM ones? Could add new recipes to areas that could use some more, like targeted AoE.

    2. Temp powers! And I don't mean crappy ones that go away after you use it a few times. I mean ones that people would want because they're AWESOME. Like killing Jurassik could give you a temp power that let's you wield his godly car hammer.

    3. Unique inspirations! And not any normal kind of inspiration but a super special awesome kind. A kind that would like add an -acc debuff to all your attacks or make your buffs 20% better!

    1. How would they drop? Many times there are more than 1 team and soloists fighting GM's. I don't see all of them being eligible and too many would be unbalancing.

    2. Uhm . . . no.

    3. Unique inspirations? Sure, but not as gamebreakingly powerful as you want.

I was thinking the same thing. Every once in a while someone makes an honest mistake and creates a new account rather than upgrading their existing account.

If this is what happened at least the characters on the trial were no higher than 14 so remaking them on the new account is merely inconvienent. What really sucks is when someone makes this mistake with an account that's been active for a while. In that case they are stuck with two accounts.

True. We do have our share of people who can't take criticism, and our share of jerks who were abusing the system because they thought they could be rude with impunity. We also had a few like P_P who loudly complained whenever anyone neg repped her.
