Why do you want to lvl to 50 in a week? There is no end game. Well, not until Going Rogue, and that is a paid expansion. In any case, the only way you are getting from 1 - 50 in a week is through PLing.
What server are you on? It may seem like there is no one out there, but missions are instanced, so you won't see many people wandering around. There's also many ways to get around now including the oro portal, base teleporters, WW teleporters, mission teleporters...etc... So you really won't see a ton of people on the street. Sometimes you will have to form your own teams. Most servers have active global channels where you can find teams easily most of the time.
I play mainly on Justice and with the 2 global channels I am on, its hardley ever quiet. We do have quiet days where it seems like nothing is going on, but for the most part it is quite active. There were tons of TF's/teaming going on all day and night yesterday. It seemed like everytime I turned around there was something being started. Justice or not, see about joining a global channel for your server and see if that helps any.
Edit - Ok, I see you're on Freedom. That is the server with the highest population next to Virtue. There should never be an issue finding a team there. Definitely get plugged in with a good global chat channel.

Which two channels on Justice, StarKitten? I never find a team on Justice these days
JFA2010 and Justice United. They have their quiet times, but usually its lots of TF's or offers to team. I throw out offers to team almost daily.

That means people no longer hang out in the AE building like they did in June 09. They actually play the game now because finding teams and leveling is much easier unless of course someone is hanging out in the AE waiting to be PL'd.

I don't keep up on the latest trends. Imperious Task Forces used to give a WHOLE LOT of xp, last I looked. Lots of XP-onna-stick (Shadow Cysts- do they still give that much XP?) , lots of Elite Bosses, and about a thousand required kills.

But I am with the others, there's no rush. The silly thing about rushing to 50 is once you get there, most of the content is going to involve exemplaring back down. So might as well just play the game, enjoy the character and when you get there you get there.

TF's have always been a great way of leveling fast. I consider doing TF's to be playing the game.
Nah, I never did AE as much as others did...I was wanting to see if I could test this build I had for PvP before my SG starts their event next weekend.
Yeah I noticed teams are a bit easier to get into which I like alot. I was a "fan" of missions and not AE so as I said I'm glad that aspect has settled. I was just wondering if anything had changed in a years time as far as how people migrate to level.
