I suggest you read before posting.

Quote:I just purchased the Going Rogue expansion from Steam which includes the rest of the content. It gave me a code and just used it to apply to my NCSoft account to upgrade from. Seems to have worked just fine. Though I wish I had known about the lvl 14 limitation during the trial. I went through a couple of missions before I realized my exp wasn't going up.
Thanks everyone! -
Hope you enjoy the game and decide to stick around.

A person who meets all of his promotion requirements can reach the rank of 0-6 (Colonel in the Air Force) in 12 1/2 years. And that's based on the minimum time in grade required by federal law.
0-2 - 2nd Lt - 18 months - Fully qualified (nearly 100 percent)
0-3 - 1st Lt - 2 years - Fully qualified (nearly 100 percent)
0-4 - Captain - 3 years - Best qualified (80 percent)
0-5 - Major - 3 years - Best qualified (70 percent)
0-6 -Colonel - 3 years - Best qualified (50 percent)
So it's very possibe for someone who goes to college/ROTC or a military acadamy and graduates around the age of 24 to be a colonel by the time they are 40.
And that's not counting things like battlefield promotions or the automatic increase in rank that comes with certain military awards for heroism. -
Quote:And that's why this will never work. When the Market was added to the game the devs told us there was something like 300 trillion inf sitting stagnant on various palyers accounts and millions more has been getting added every day. It's not intended to do anything about the people sitting on billions of INF, nor is it intended to change the fact that you can get the recipes you want and make a profit on it. It is intended to reduce the amount of influence entering the game while leaving the amount of influence sinks constant, which over time will reduce inflation. It's simple supply and demand. If there is the same amount of goods available, but less money overall to pay for them with, prices will go down.
Reducing the amount of inf being generated isn't going to do squat if there isn't sufficient inf sinks to remove it first. -
Quote:Just an FYI if you do decide to buy the game you should know that if you buy an older copy because it's cheaper you won't get access to anything that was added with the Going Rogue Edition and after.ah, thanks... I must have hit the limit. Didn't see that before.
I may just buy it and get a free month, see if I want to keep going after that.
Don't take this the wrong way because the old game is still great, but you'll have to buy Going Rogue to get access to the Praetorian content, and the Incarnate System. -
I haven't seen the plaque but if it's there then it was put there after the devs changed their minds on adding the launch pads.

Oh and costumes are another thing that the GM's generic when reported. What happens for example is if someone copies an popular comic book super hero the player may log in to find his costume reset to the basic generic costume you see when you start creating your characters in the costume creator.

Quote:Sorry I didn't check this thread when I first got the PM. Been a little busy. Let's see I'll answer this in order. Thanks, Rogue, yeah global IS easier. I did not get that char banned yet, but maybe just in case, I should make another one to take her place? Forbin, I send u a private message about someone whose name was DEFINITE vocabulary in the game!
First, if a character is petitioned over a name it doesn't get banned. The name gets genericed. The GM's change the name to something like Generic Hero 0000065465, and they send you an email telling you to think of I think 3 alternative names which the GM's will check and give you the first one that isn't already in use.
Now if the character is really low level it might be easier for you to just remake it.
GM's don't usually go to banning unless the person is a repeat offender who has been warned several times, or if they go out and buy a rename token and change the name back or to something else offensive or copyrighted/trademarked.
Hope that helps. -
Quote:Swinging where theres nothing to swing from is just one of the powers that looks silly and stupid when used in the wrong location. Another example is how a lot of their powers look silly when they are being used in underwater missions.Oh please. I can't claim to be a fan of the game, but of the things that could be killing it, I doubt "swinglines work everywhere" would even be in the top 100.
Where exactly did I ever say I hate the power? I said it looks silly and stupid in the wrong zones. That's a far cry from hate.Quote:If you hate the power, that's fine
I didn't say that. I said it was one of the reasons the game was failing. One implies there are other that also contribute to the games failure.Quote:but claiming that it's actually killing an entire game is...
I think I've been pretty consistant in my statements that it wasn't the only problem that game is having.Quote:No it doesn't which is one of the reasons the games playerbase has dropped so drastically that it has been forced to go free to play.
Their dwindling population that has forced them to go F2P says it is one of the problems they are having.
Furthermore being a participant in several different game forums I know for a fact that when that game gets brought up one of the reasons people give for quitting that game is the stupid looking powers.
What PP does is say one thing and then a few weeks/months later she does a complete 180 and claims the opposite.Quote:well, sort of a PP thing to do, frankly.
Like here where she told us she cancelled her LTS and got her money back.

And then told us that she kept her LTS because she didn't want to go to all the trouble to get it refunded.

And I haven't done any of that here. -
Quote:Just a warning but that hero name you chose could get petitioned and genericed for being offensive and trying to get around the profanity filter. I'm saying this because I got nailed when someone petitioned a character I had named Phart the Dispersing.I want to see what that is like. Her name is Bea Atch & she is a lvl 6 defender who does ranged.
It could happen right away or even months from now. There's no way to know when or if someone will make a complaint. -

Quote:No I didn't.Fine then. See this $5 bill in my wallet? I'm not giving it to you.
By your rationalization, you just lost $5.
In order for your argument to have any merit I would first have to be selling something you wanted and then decide to give it to you for free instead of selling it.
I'm not selling anything so I'm not out anything.

Quote:okay, poor use of outlier...unintended is more appropriate.
Still, my suggestion would provide no more or less exposure for those that are using the groups storage for personal storage. They are still vulnerable to somebody else with base editing permissions stealing their storage, up to and including the leader.
If a team doesn't want the items displayed to everybody else they just have to set the permissions to leader only.
Since we have individual security permissions for our bins now, have you considered a public/private list setting for the bins? That way all bins set to public would list their contents, but the private ones would be filtered out. -
Quote:More likely the game engine wasn't designed to allow it. Maybe in CoH2.The only problem with this power is that they'll have to pick an implementation for its appearance. Because of their history with Marvel, CoH may be hesitant to make something so clearly derivative of Spider-man. That, more than anything, could be why we haven't seen swinging yet.

Wrong. I'm just an average player and it's stupid looking powers are one of the main reasons I rarely play the game even tho I have a lifetime sub. Furthermore being a participant in several different game forums I know for a fact that when that game gets brought up one of the reasons people give for quitting that game is the stupid looking powers.

Quote:Yeah you totally caught me off guard with that.No I caught that part. Heck Ii even quoted a nice chunk of that in my post. I wasn't attempting to further that line of conversation, merely to point out a bit about the game that I've always found entertaining to a new player. Maybe I shoud have said, "Just an aside here," instead of, "Just a note." Since that's what it was.

I was totally focused on it's use and abuse between players and the Freakshows automatic responses never crossed my mind.Quote:In any case, if someone's never heard of leet before, don't you think it's at least worth mentioning that an enemy group in ghe game makes somewhat extensive use of it? I mean I guess not, but I did, so there you go. -
Quote:So you want the devs to go to the trouble of programming a low flying hero/villain/jet/rikti bombship/arachnos flyer that is always conviently flying over your head. That's even more ridiculous.By that reasoning...
Attached swingline to a low flying hero/villain/plane/jet/rikti bombship/arachnos flyer that's passing by.
Dimensional portals aren't solid objects. They are openings between dimensions that allow matter to pass thru them from one reality to the next. Your hook would pass thru the portal not attach to it.Quote:Tip of hook attaches to a small dimension portal that opens up when it reaches the desired length on the swingline.

Quote:Rikti still require line of sight to teleport so the war walls keep the ground forces localized in the zone they are attacking.(Seriously, what the hell are those war walls doing besides sucking power when the Rikti can teleport in anywhere or simply fly over them?)
Yeah I'm just spitballing.

Quote:Leet came up in a discussion about how it's use in conversations between players is generally frowned upon because the people using it are usually rude and immature and are using it to get around profanity filters. The fact that there is an NPC group that uses it wasn't relevant to the subject being discussed. What does that have to do with anything? 'Leet' came up and I thought it was an interesting note that we have an enemy group that uses a fair amount of the stuff in its in-game dialogue.
I'm sorry if you missed that.Quote:Quote:Almost all of us are mature players and we treat everyone in game like intelligent adults. Trash talking, rudeness, "leetspeak" and the like is strongly frowned upon.Quote:Leet (or "1337"), also known as eleet or leetspeak, is an alternative alphabet for the English language that is used primarily on the Internet.
The general consensus is that the people that use those two forms of communication usually turn out to be immature jerks. Now that doesn't always apply to everyone. There are some people that are roleplaying a character but you can tell them apart because the jerks will insult and mock you if you mention that you have no clue what they are saying. -
Quote:And exactly how often are you receiving Tells from NPC's?Just as a note here, the in-game enemy group known as Freakshow have a tendency to 'speak' in, or even have their names in leet. For example, t3h S00p4rFr34k! (exclamation point being part of the name)
The last time I played the NPC's only had preprogrammed responses that they said when you got within range of them. That's a far cry from trying to have an intelligent conversation with another player.
