Quote:New players are also not under the delusion that they "need" to buy or craft IO's in order to play the game. They are perfectly happy using the regular TO's, DO's and SO's until some mini-maxing "gottahaveitnao" loser convinces them otherwise.Buying up all the commons and selling for high prices isn't good for the new players. Sure they can sell and get some cash in their pocket. But when it comes time to buy and craft. They don't have enough influence or infamy to buy these common salvages to craft. Now is the part where you say, 20mins in AE will get you 1500 tickets and then you can trade those for commons. Do the new players who are learning the invention system really know this? Some do, but my guess is that most do not.

Quote:This. So Fighting is not the new Fitness. On all the level 50 characters I've respecced since Fitness became inherent, I've ended taking two more powers from their secondaries, and then taking Combat Jumping. Except for my MM, who didn't even have Fitness originally; but I've since put slots in Health and Stamina.

Quote:What.
Oh. Well it would figure that you got confused.
The mere fact that you couldn't follow a simple argument and realize I was talking about the storyline's concept and not its production staff reveals that your opinions are barely worth another thought from me. I get it, you hated the show but it neither sucked, nor were the characters unlikable. If I liked them, then very clearly that makes them likable as I have a tendency to shift into hate very easily.
And Kevin J. Anders—I mean, Coyote_Seven needs to read up on his Hero's Journey as well.
Please feel free to disregard my opinions as much as you like. It still doesn't change the fact that the show has been cancelled because the characters were unlikeable and the writing sucked. -
Wait. Is Scythus talking about the people working on the show or has he switched to the concept behind the storyline? If it's the latter it has no bearing on the failure of the show. You can have a successful show based on the wrong people being stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time as long as the scripts don't suck and the characters are likable. Neither of which happened on SGU.
-
Quote:With the exception of the writers most of the SGU team were formerly employed on SG Atlantis. The show had many well trained, prepared people but didn't have the scripts to back it up.SGU didn't have the well trained, prepared team that SG-1 and Atlantis had. Instead, they have a completely unprepared and unqualified team and on top of it, they're stuck. That's interesting. It's not a retread of the previous two, so that makes it new.
But if it makes you feel better to call me names, please continue. I at least was loyal enough to actually support the show by watching it on the syfee channel unlike the thousands of others that killed it by watching it online or rebroadcast on other networks. -
Quote:I never claimed any of the Stargate shows were original Scythus. You were the one that saidAs opposed to the Perfect Super Team that goes off to other places and saves the day no matter how implausible that the previous two Stargates did? That's been done a lot in television in scores upon scores of other shows as well. If you disagree, then I'd like to know what television you've been watching.
Those aren't my words. I never said that about any of the Stargate shows.Quote:SGU took the franchise in a new, interesting direction -
Quote:The length of time the account has been inactive has nothing to do with it. Since Going Rogue launched we've had dozens (if not hundreds) of players return to the game who haven't played in 3-4 years. (that's 900 to 1200+ days inactive) and they had no trouble reactivating their accounts on their own without being invited back.I wasnt making anything up, I tried I even tried to add more time before I got the help needed. When I hitted submit I got a general error each time when I didnt add the code.
And just for the record, its been over 400 days when we last played.
Many of those same returning players reactivated their accounts before learning that they had to buy Going Rogue to get access to the newest content so they didn't go to the retailer until after their accounts had been reactivated.
I'm sorry you had problems but now that they're over welcome back. -
New and interesting direction? What show were you watching? Cuz it sure wasn't SGU. SGU was nothing more than a retelling of the same old "we're lost and can't get home" story that has been told dozens of times in other shows.

Pick up where I left off on my plan for world domination, then once my dictatorship is secured order my new NCSoft slaves to create and release CoH2 with unlimited resources and funding.

Quote:I know this won't "prove" anything to some but I think it somewhat funny (in a sad way) when some say "just set a price and then just be patient"....okay sure that's all fine and dandy...
I've had a bid (canceled it yesterday I think) for 1 Alchemical Silver for I think 50k or 75k (too expensive for my tastes I think but it was 'cheaper' than the "buy now price" of 150k to 500k).
Never got it...even after I did at least 2-4 runs (which is about 2-3 salvage 'full' trips with my toon to the market) with my Claws/SR Brute getting ~1,300 AE tickets in a few mins and doing all common arcance salvage rolls in the 26-40 range and selling everything I got for 11 influence; again, the cheapest I ever saw the Alchemical Silvers being bought for was ~150k.
Yes, I did just email the silver to myself but...how long should people 'wait'? Glad I wasn't bidding what I would expect to pay (25k at the most).
/grabs popcorn...no wait...I don't like popcorn....*grabs chips*
I think it's funny that you think the time it takes to run 2-4 missions is showing patience. When in actuality it's about as patient as a 5 year old sitting in the back of a car asking
Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?
Patience is measured in days and even weeks not minutes and hours. -
Quote:If that was their motivation they never would have upped it to 36 slots in the first place. They knew they were going to lose accounts when players consolidated their multiple accounts into one main account.I just want MOAR max slots per server. Please. Pretty please. Pretty please with sugar on top. How hard is it to add a 4th 12-slot character selection page? I'll GLADLY pay for unlocking the slots. Is it that they think I'll start a second account, cuz that ain't happening.

Quote:Yeah there was no reason to make up a story about not being able to reactivate the account.I know what the referral program is. I even explained it above, and corrected your original post about how many days of time it gives. All we're saying is that it isn't mandatory to be referred. You can add your new subscription at any time. If you just wanted to get some extra free time for coming back, don't be ashamed to say so. We understand, and we would have helped anyway.

Gonna have to /unsign this one for reason already mentioned by others.

Quote:Yes! I agree with this entirely! My thoughts are if you really wanted to make a alter version of a character with simliar powers, Why not create a brand new character? Say if you wanted to character a black superman, we saw this a bit with Hancock.(which during the middle of the movie when he saves the bank he really came across as a bonefid super hero, as he was damn heroic. Something I could have really got behind.) In the case of we didn't see them beat us over the head with the fact Will Smith is black all film. It was an aspect of his character, but he was still a 3 dimensional character not a sterotype to the end. It suffered from some hang ups from a disjointed story but it had nothing to do with race.
I can understand people wanting to see more diverse characters, as my heart went out to the obituaries when I read the article about Perry Moore, producer of chronicles of Naria, and author of the book hero about a gay super hero. He expressed frustration with watching most gay characters always being secondary characters and often suffering from girl in the fridge effect. I think everyone should have a character they can identify with too, and not feel like who they are can never be the hero of a story. That they are destined to always be saved, trampled and over all insignifigant to world unless the white male lead does it first. There's definitely room but toss a few hand out secondary characters to minorities is exactly the right answer. There needs be something geniuely compelling to the character on it's own to appeal to a wider audience.
It's a tough postion as some change is probably in order to diversify things to get everyone into the story. It's a hard call as you don't want to tick off anyone but not everyone is going to be happy with whatever you do. Why going with original compelling characters is probably the best solution. -
Quote:...seriously?
Fictional characters do exist. We read about them and see them in the movies every day. In that sense, they are much more real than talking animals, which do not exist outside of fictional sources. Which is why we use real people who exist (actors) to portray fictional characters. It's quite hard to use people who do not exist (talking animals) to portray fictional characters. Talking animals, here, are a subset of fictional characters. But actors and actresses portray fictional characters all the time on film - you don't see fictional people playing fictional people in film yet.
And, before you go there, I'm not going into animation, I'm only discussing live film at this juncture. That likewise covers CGI creations in their entirety for the purpose of this discussion. (Though to date, all CGI creations that function as fictional people are based, at some point, on real people.)
Real person portraying fictional person - possible.
Real person portraying talking animal - possible.
Fictional person portraying fictional person - impossible.
Who said anything about fictional people playing fictional people. My position is that there is no valid reason to suddenly change a characters race/gender/species.
Personally I wouldn't raise any objection to Superman discovering a new love interest other than Lois Lane who could be black, asian, latino whatever. I wouldn't even object if the love interest was gay. -
Quote:Be as cynical as you want. I'm not the one suggesting another persons intellectual property should be changed because of my personal prejudices. So long as you don't mind the implication that Superman likes dogs in that way, sure.
Then again, if I wanted to be very cynical, I could point out that you're saying changing Lois Lane to a non-white race is equivalent to changing her to an animal. Rather unfortunate implications. -
Quote:Comic book characters do not exist. They are as real as talking animals. Actors and actresses can easily portray both. You lose.It is absolutely not.
Animals are not people. Talking animals do not exist. You're positing a hypothetical with a negligible chance of occurring within our lifetimes as an argument.
Actors of every race and background do exist, and even work for a living in Hollywood in the real world.
Also, acting is not purely voice - there is a physical presence that has to be considered unless you go to voice acting, which is outside the discussion here.
Try again. -
Quote:Seriously when has that ever stopped Hollywood before?Well if a talking cat or dog can CONVINCE me through their acting ability that they are Lois Lane then theoretically there's nothing "wrong" with it. But would that be the "best" choice for a serious dramatic role? Probably not...
-
-
Quote:Okay then you should have no problem then if they decide to cast the part of Lois Lane as a talking dog or cat. Cuz if the actress is good enough to nail the personality and presence of Lois Lane it will carry over to voice acting.Conversely, is there any overarching reason why Lois Lane has to be caucasian? Is it a key, defining part of her character? Is it integral to understanding who she is?
I think not.
I don't think anyone is saying that, in terms of movie casting, that it should be changed for the sake of change. What I would like to see is the casting director having truly open auditions, and casting the person who best encapsulates that director's vision of Lois Lane, regardless of the actress's race. If an actress can nail the personality and presence of Lois Lane, shouldn't we be more concerned with ability than looks?
If race shouldn't be a deciding factor neither should species. -
Quote:I have two old accounts which both have seperate NCMaster accounts and have been inactive for much longer than 90 days and neither one was locked from me simply resubscribing. For what it's worth, I've never heard of that either. Do you have a link to this policy anywhere or at least a screenshot or copy/paste of the message it gave you when you attempted reactivation?
I just logged into one of my secondary accounts that has been inactive for 90 days. Clicking on either "Subscribe to Game" or "Purchase Additional Time" both allow me to enter subscription and payment information without needing any referral codes.
I'm sorry you somehow ran into an issue, but welcome back! -
Quote:If that were true about our devs then we'd be paying for every issue added to the game instead of getting them for free. It's all about the almighty dollar. Giving away things isn't how they make money
No business is ever going to please 100% of their customers. It's impossible. There will always be disgruntled individuals with entitlement issues.Quote:and they don't care about what the single person wants.
No that type of behaviour gets people banned.Quote:Mob mentality is what the devs fear. -
Quote:Oh I agree that it's annoying especially when circumstances outside your control prevent you from participating, but the devs can't plan for everything.Which was annoying, because I was traveling during both of those times. I'm not all hopped-up about moving characters around -- there are maybe three I'd want to -- but it is a drag missing out on something like that. Would've been nice to get a bunch of free transfers just for buying GR rather than tying it to a specific window of time, because I couldn't play the first couple weeks it was out despite pre-ordering the expansion.
I don't envy the devs decision on the free transfers because on one hand they could have given us a set number of tokens we could use any time we wanted, but then how many tokens is fair, because there will always be people kvetching that they weren't given enough. Or they could give us unlimited transfers for a set period of time, which results in some people being upset because they missed the "event".
Personally I hope they decide to add a few free transfers to vet rewards. Maybe as a yearly thing like the free character slots.
