Quote:I refuse to start a company, and I refuse to pay cash for anything. If I did, I might be getting money that MURDERERS used!In short, BITE ME. If you want to avoid the market over something neither you, nor I, nor any other non-dev player can control KNOCK YOURSELF OUT. Stop casting aspersions at me and others who use the market because some impatient jack-hole MIGHT decide to use RMT and the money would flow back to us.

The major problem is that people will probably want animations grappling foes with their whip... which as far as we know, simply can't happen with this engine. For one thing, we're all capsules. There's also size differences involved.
In the Mastermind set, it'll probably be two simple strikes (like the proper use of a whip), and a sweep (AoE attack). In a set with 9 powers, sure there'll probably be an Aim/Build Up equivalent, and they'll probably reuse the powers from the Mastermind set... but then people will want things to start getting fancy for the remaining 5 powers, and I'm not entirely sure how feasible it would be. -
Quote:Champions Online's STORY is based on the Champions tabletop game.Thats just bad logic. Champions online is based off the Champions Paper and Pencil game which had a very good very good free form system. What you are doing is the equivalent of condemning all restaurants as a bad idea because there is one guy out there who can't make the concept work.
Champions Online has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Hero system used by the Champions tabletop game.
This is fact. The "Champions" IP and the "Hero System" used by the tabletop games are separate properties. Cryptic purchased the Champions IP from HERO Games. This allowed Cryptic to create a game set in the Champions universe. CRYPTIC DID NOT BUY ANY RIGHTS TO THE HERO SYSTEM WHATSOEVER -

... um... duh?
Each critter has a fixed chance to drop $widget. If a $widget is generated by the Random Number God, that $widget is given to a random member of the team. Drop rates aren't affected by teaming (positively or negatively), but teaming reduces the number of drops you get (since you have to share the same number of drops with more people).
... on the live servers
Dev stats aren't really particularly reveant. They can just grant themselves whatever they want. For example, JLove has shown up playing a Blaster with every single Blaster power in existence, including multiple primaries and secondaries. Positron has shown up with every single Hero and Villain badge on one character, including all of the patron arc badges, and including the Joker badge which was added to the game files as an April Fool's prank on the pigg divers, but there is no way to access it in the game. Castle has [The I Win Button], which kills all critters on the map which have already been spawned (which he used for testing drop rates). Castle is normally a Fire/Fire Blaster, but for the setup at Manticore and Sister Psyche's wedding, he was tossing down Tar Patches in Atlas Park, which were affecting the players. -
The game might run into issues if you have more than 2,147,483,647 individual costume files, but I doubt you've got that many.

Quote:Performance Shifter's proc is a 20% chance for +10 endurance. In an auto power like Stamina, the chance will be checked every 10 seconds, yielding on average 0.2 end/s.I've always wondered this but never asked. What yields a better endurancy recovery over time, 3 end mod IOs or 2 end mod IOs and the chance for +end proc?
Your base recovery (unless you're a VEAT) is 1.67 end/s.
Stamina (unslotted) provides 0.41 end/s.
3 lv50 Endmod IOs in Stamina provide 0.406228 end/s (on top of Stamina's initial bonus).
2 lv50 Endmod IOs in Stamina provide 0.341612 end/s.
0.321612 + 0.2 = 0.541612 > 0.406228
The numbers change a bit if you're a VEAT, or you're using Quick Recovery or Physical Perfection instead of Stamina, but in general, 2 lv50 Endmod + PS proc > 3 lv50 Endmod. Note that it's only true in average recovery over time, because the PS proc is random. Also note that the PS proc isn't actually recovery, but an infusion of endurance, so it can do things like get around the -recovery of a nuke crash.
Also note that, since Performance Shifter is a set that goes up to 50, and one of the set pieces is straight Endmod, you can replace one of the two generic lv50 Endmod enhancements with a lv50 Performance Shifter: Endmod, have the exact same benefit, plus 5% movement speed buff. -
Quote:IIRC, the description we've gotten of Praetorian Hamidon sounds a lot more like a giant Greater Devoured (tentacles, mobile) than the Hamidon we know. How do we know that Hamidon was containted with 50 sups in Utopia. Yes we can contain him on our "shard", but still we need 50 of us and it can be a rough fight. AFAIK one person took down Hami in Utopia, which tells me other things happened but the mystery is what we need to unravel.

Quote:Well, more specifically it's a dinosaur widow, whose inept thaumaturge husband was killed by a demon he summoned, but couldn't controlthis is not an actual dragon (or lizard) so much as it is a dragon GIRL. It's a question of definitions.
(And then, of course, the wife being the competent one, she banished the demon. And then became an Exalt.)
Of course, the character has many other forms, being a shapeshifter. She's got her human form, her Spirit Shape (velociraptor), her War Form (pictured), and a library of creatures whose heart's blood she's tasted, which she can transform into at will.
Edit: The Madame Vert pic is a clip from a full desktop image: 1600x1200 version.
Left to right: Anja Silverclaws (No Moon caste; pictured in human form; Spirit Shape: housecat), Red Jaws (Changing Moon caste; pictured in war form; Spirit Shape: wolf), Strength-of-Many (Full Moon caste; pictured in war form; Spirit Shape: bull), and Madame Vert (Casteless) -

I also like the bleed over idea. It more accurately reflects what would happen in the Real World™, and doesn't really step on any toes. The bleed over may be troublesome to make it work correctly, since the two markets are currently on two different servers and there would need to be back and forth tracking, but I think it's probably doable.

Quote:Did you check Felucca's full-on dragon form (third link)?I will easily give you that those designs you linked to certainly look good, but I wouldn't really call that a "dragon" so much as, at most, a "dragon girl."
Quote:There's a lot of leeway for dragon-people, but at the end of the day, they're still people that resemble dragons. -

Quote:No, but I think people who want to suggest changes to an existing game economy should have a basic understanding of how economics works.Generally speaking, people don't want to have to be economic majors to play a game or even have to take an economics course.
Most suggestions for changes to the market come from people who apparently don't even have that basic understanding. -
Quote:Belladonna Vetrano is not the leader of the Resistance. She's a high-ranking member, and any TF against the Resistance would probably include a fight against her, but she's not the leader. The leader is Calvin Scott, Aurora Borealis' husband (and since Mother Mayhem is possessing Aurora Borealis, Mother Mayhem and her Seers can't read Calvin Scott's mind).I think it's quite likely there'll be a Resistance one to defeat Tyrant, and a Praetorian one to defeat the Resistance leader - possibly Belladonna.
As for what I want out of Going Rogue: More badges!
My main villain and main hero will probably stick as Vigilante/Rogue, just to access badges from the other side. That is, unless there's more badges to be had for completing the transition. -
-
Quote:I suspect in the Praetorian storyline they'll generally go with "Emperor Cole", but stick to Tyrant in the Portal Corp missions. (Though I think they did say they would be updating the models used for the Preatorians)I can only hope that with Going Rogue the name Tyrant will be ret-conned out of existence as well.
Also: GG's posts seems to have done a heel face turn in tone -
Quote:I don't think reducing defense bonuses is a good idea; it'll just make the people that spent billions on their defense IO build angry, and won't do a whole lot for solving the issue.more -def isn't a completely terrible idea but is still not, I feel, as good a solution as either reducing the amount of total defense bonus you can get from IOs or adding readily-available competitive options.
Quote:I'd rather see def caps lowered for some ATs than have more -def in the game. -def is around plenty, but having everyone cap out at 45% doesn't seem balanced to me.
The issue is that with the way attack mechanics work, it is very very very rarely useful to have more than 45% defense. The only way adjusting caps would work would be if some AT's Defense caps were reduced below 45% (in which case they'd never be capable of hitting the softcap, which I don't really think would be fair for a team of squishies), or if attack mechanics themselves were calculated on a per-AT basis (which is a really bad idea). -

Rage = 2 minute long Build Up with a crash, so I don't see why a Stalker version of SS would remove Rage?
-
... did you miss the part where I said "add more defense resistance to defense sets"? There's no misunderstanding of how useful defense resistance is; some current defensive sets just don't really have significant amounts of it.

I think you have officially earned a custom-made tinfoil hat.
