Sorry, you guys kept saying 'Garbage'. One of my favorite bands. Carry on.
  4. Sign me up, too please! Either team is fine. Probably go with my MA/Regen scrapper, Infinite Blitz, but I have plenty of others if something else would work better.

Based on a contest held many years ago in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction --

You are hired by a publishing firm to write a blurb for a soon to be published novel. You haven't read the novel, but you do have a vague idea of what it's about. Otherwise, all you have to go by is the title - which contains a single unfortunate typo.

    Examples:

Tarzan of the Ales, by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
"A boy abandoned in a brewery grows up to become the King of Beers."

    Firestarker, by Stephen King
"Things get hot when her clothes come off!"

The Sound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
    "The Hills are alive!"

Queen of the Black Toast, by Robert E. Howard
"Conan faces his greatest challenge: breakfast on the high seas!"

The Gall of Cthulhu, by H.P. Lovecraft
"Just who does this Cthulhu think he is, anyway?"

So, the challenge: pick a science fiction/fantasy novel or story (or movie or TV series) and change ONE letter in the title, and write an appropriate cover blurb.

Well, I dunno, I don't get all the excitement. I never cared all that much for Ghost Rider. I mean, he's okay, I guess, for a guy with a flaming skull. Werewolf By Night was much better - but think how much better even that could have been if Jack Russell had been bitten by a wereterrier.

    Well. That, or a werepie.

    DA/Electric

He's moving into the Terrible Teens now - currently level 13, slotted with DOs, lots of blue and yellow like Desmodos recommends. At this point he's doing okay solo, but whether he can handle a large group depends a lot on what inspirations he happens to have handy, which is somewhat disappointing considering how he breezed through the 'Defeat 10 CoT in PP' mission at level 8. But this will improve as more slots open up.

So far he's only teamed for Halloween events, Trick or Treating, or Zombie invasions - and without support he's pretty squishy in those situations. Of course, some of those Halloween guys are pretty darned tough - like the Vampire Lords.

Overall, though, I'm having fun playing him, and I think he's gonna turn out just fine.

Just this morning I was playing my new DA/Electric tanker, and started into Willy Starbuck's Skulls/Hellions story arc. Got about three missions into the arc and then he gives me the "Speak to Hero Corp Analyst" thing.

Before the arc is one thing.
    After the arc is another.
During the arc is <bleeping bleepity bleep!>

    DA/Electric

Is this sheer madness? I'm not familiar with either set, beyond playing around a little with DA back when it first appeared on the test server (with the various level bumps) and playing my (still) low-level Electric/Electric scrapper.

So far, at the low levels, the tanker version of Electric Melee seems (subjectively) less wimpy than the scrapper version - maybe because I'm accustomed to tanker damage, and maybe because this tanker hasn't been plagued with the "I can't hit <Bleep!>" thing that happened with the scrapper (which I am assuming was merely unfortunate chance).

I know DA is kinda end-hoggy and that knockback is an issue.

Has anyone else played this combo? Good, bad, or ugly?

It would have been one Dual Origin Accuracy enhancement. I believe at the time I had 1 acc, 2 damage, and an end reduction. I don't remember if I'd put an end mod there yet. Some or all of them may have been out-leveled at that point.

I'm pretty sure we were all at level '20' - it was during a Synapse TF - if that makes any difference.

Not sure of the scrapper's level, it very well could have been much higher. My tanker went from level 16 to level 21 on that TF (and it was the weekend before the double xp weekend). My attacks were Frozen Fists, Frost, Ghost Slaying Axe, Brawl, and the Nemi Staff. I had LF slotted for damage, with maybe one end mod - I don't remember.

If the Scrapper went in first, this would make even more sense, though, as, from Castle, you need to have twice as much Threat as the current target in order to steal aggro from them.
Pretty sure, but not positive, that I attacked first. I'm usually pretty gung ho with my tankers and I remember being quite pleased with that one's performance vs clockwork in that TF. But, yeah, probably the scrapper was higher level, better slotted, and outputting more damage - plus she did say she had a taunt enhancement slotted somewhere.

I don't remember for sure, and can't tell from the screenshots, but I think I did. The scrapper was BS/SD.
  19. I had it running on my electric/ice tanker while fighting Babbage during the Synapse TF. It, combined with my tanker's other attacks, could not pull the aggro from the scrapper fighting beside him. But I think the scrapper had a taunt slotted in an attack or something, and I did not yet have a taunt enhancement slotted in Lightning Field.

Yeah, pretty rough for an Electric/Ice Tanker, too.

Still, the thing that was really selling me on MA in the low levels was being able to count on the attacks actually HITTING. And they were hitting almost all the time on the MA, even when fighting higher level enemies, and missing way too much on the Electric guy vs everything, which was a BIG factor in his mastery of the faceplant. Jacob's Ladder - argh. I'm pretty good with lining up multiple targets with Sands of Mu (plenty of practice with lowbies in Outbreak) but Jacob's Ladder - I repeat, argh.

The MA is pushing level 24 and is missing attacks more often now vs higher level foes - like Crones and Vampire Lords - but still hitting consistently enough that I'm not sitting here cursing at the screen.

I only have a handful of Scrappers - DM/Regen at 46, MA/SR at 35, DB/WP at 25, MA/Regen at 23, a Fire/Fire at 22, Claws/SR at 21, BS/WP at 18, Katana/SR at 18, BS/SD at 16, and this Electric/Electric at 14 - (well, that's a 'handful' for me, with my raging altitis) so my experience with them is somewhat limited. So far the Electric/Electric has been the most frustrating. But I really like my Electric/Ice Tanker (now at 40), so I'm going to keep plugging away with the Electric Scrapper.

I know you're right - he will get better.

Oh, well, I also have an MA/SR at 35 (still not endgame, but closer) and have no complaints about MA there, either.

I based my comparison on how they played through the early levels - from fighting Contaminated in Outbreak to fighting CoT in Perez Park - obviously I can't compare them beyond that because the Electric/Electric isn't that far along.

The MA/Regen kicked butt and was *a lot of fun* to play through those levels - which is why I've kept playing her - whereas the Electric/Electric was *much less fun* to play through those levels - and more than once I considered scrapping him and rolling something else - which is why I have not played him as much.

Although he did hit 14 earlier today doing some ToTing, and he got the badges for Jack and Eochai. And still, thus far - much less fun than the MA/Regen.
  23. Well, entirely subjective post here, but...

Recently I started an Electric/Electric scrapper. Pretty much from the start I was disappointed with him. Seemed like he missed more than he hit, and when he did manage to hit something, the damage was laughable. He could generally handle two or three even-con minions, but not always. Anything orange or above was almost always suicidal unless he got really lucky. You know that mission you get early on to defeat ten CoT in Perez? Before he could take out ONE, he was dead.

Then I rolled an MA/Regen - mostly because of the new animations, which I think are cool. Pretty much from the start I was in awe of this character. It was like she couldn't miss! Even when using the Vet attacks. She was rounding up Contaminated in Outbreak eight at a time and dispatching them quickly and with ease. On the streets of Atlas Park, on the way to her very first mission, she clobbered everything in her path including a pair of red-con lieutenants. When she got that CoT mission, she took out three or four Cot before running away to rest, then came back and took out three or four more, until she had all ten - and they never defeated her. In fact, she remained undefeated until I got a little TOO bold in the Hollows and tried to take on a rather large group of Outcasts.

That's why the MA/Regen is now level 23 and the Electric/Electric is lagging behind at level 12. So, right now I'm gonna have to say that MA is NOT so weak, if for no other reason than the attacks seem to hit more often, and I'm glad I didn't keep holding out on rolling this character waiting for SS for scrappers.

But now that I've posted this, Castle will see it and probably nerf Regen or something.
