  1. Oi vey, I didn't really look at this issue during beta. You can make some real horrid color combinations for some of the powersets like fire.

    I hope these effects can be turned off. I'd hate to see a pink and white inferno blast.

    I had to turn chat bubbles off once because one of the team members was using a pink chat balloon with purple text.

  4. steadfast protection: knockback protection (slots in resistence powers)
    karma: knockback protection (slots in defensive powers)
    blessing of the zephyr: knobkback protection (slots in travel powers)

    The BoZ's are expensive.

    I think you can also get KB protection from 3 or so Kinetic Crash IOs if you have any knockback powers.

    8 or 12 points (2 or 3 of the above listed IOs) is generally enough for PVE.

  9. I have an elec/sd brute who's deadly. I also have an elec/wp brute. I won't be making scrapper versions even though I'd really really like to.
  10. I am softcapped for S/L/E/N/F/C with 1 enemy in Invincibility range on my INV/SS. Near perm DP. Capped HP with DP running. 48.5hp/s regen when HP capped. No unstoppable, no purple and no PVP IOs.

    He stands alone in just about every situation.
  11. Looks alright.

    A few things I would probably change:

    - You need to change mids for Phalanx fighting so you can set it to 0
    - I don't think you need 2 taunts slotted for AAO, 2 end redux should be fine since you have the taunt power as well
    - Adding another resistance to tough will increase your resistances by 3%
    - No travel power? Alright if it works.
    - Your end use numbers seemed a bit high. Turned out that you had sprint clicked on in mids. This is a big end hog.
    - I recommend slotting resitences in Deflection. (3 resist, 3 defense IOs)
    - You may want to slot out true grit a bit for more resistence and health
    - You could probably get away with 1 or 2 slotting OWTS
    - Maybe 1 or 2 slot health
    - I see you focussed on end recovery. If you get your accolades you won't necessarily need this. Impervium Resistences are ridiculously expensive
    - The biggest pain with an SD/SS is when rage and hasten crash at around the same time. When you're in battle it's best to stack rage otherwise you'll get a defense penalty while rage is down.
    - You don't *need* to 6 slot taunt with Perfect Zingers. Go with 1 slot and use the other 5 elsewhere.

    General rule of thumb I follow is that if End recovery is at least 2 points higher than End use it's good enough.

    Buzzsaw Build

    45% is the softcap number. More than that is butter and good in case you get defense debuffed. However I think /SR scrappers have ridiculously high defense debuff resistance.

    General rule of thumb:

    - Weave (which you have already)
    - CJ, Hover or maneuvers
    - 6 Oblits (or Multistrikes for half the bonus. Nice cheap alternative with better End numbers)
    - 6 Touch of Deaths
    - 6 Makos
    - 6 Gaussians
    - 3 Blessing of the Zephyrs (2 only required for +range def)
    - purple inspirations

    Once you lay it out in Mids it comes together pretty quickly.
  13. Good points and yeah I messed up, Grant cover is a toggle. And I forgot to change my Phalanx fighting value in my copy of mids for Tankers so it's adjusted now.

    OP, I reworked this quickly. What's important is to keep your goals reasonable. Don't slot purples if you'll never be able to get them or afford them.

    The only power change I made is I removed Focussed Accuracy and I put in Hasten. You'll get a lot more mileage out of Hasten than FA.

    This isn't a final or uber build, but what's good about tanks is that their base numbers are pretty high. So you don't have to go expensive to get the softcapped defense numbers. You can slot much cheaper Multistrikes instead of obliterations as an example.

    I changed the slotting around quite a bit so you get decent end recovery as well as some +rech and +acc.

    The following may be a good base for you to go off of. From there take the other advice on more specific slotting for specific powers. But remmeber to keep the Advanced Totals open so you can see what kind of impact changes have.

  14. You have the basics down. When I work with Mids I usually leave Advanced total open. It shows me how changes affect things.

    Typical rule of thumb for end use/end rec is end recovery should be at least 2 points higher than end usage. Right now you're at 1.24 end use with only 2.76 end recovery.

    Here are things that stick out like a slightly sore thumb:

    - No need to 3 slot health with generic Health IOs, you can use the slots elsewhere.
    - You're slotting Armageddons and Hecatombs, I guess money ain't an issue. Not required on a tanker but if you got 'em, use 'em. If you don't have 'em then purples are super expensive and not required for an SS/SD build
    - If you 6 slot Makos and 6 slot TOD you'll get some good defense numbers. This may allow some flexibility in moving some other stuff around
    - End recovery / end usage is horrible here. You *need* end redux in Tough, Weave, any toggle. 4 slot tough and weave. If you don't want to use LOTG or Titanium coating you can still go with generic IOs but you *need* an end redux in there
    - Why focussed accuracy when you have rage?
    - 6 slotting grant cover is over the top. It's an auto and costs no end. It's typically good for one LOTG 7.5. The power itself doesn't do anything for you other than give you some additional defense debuff.

    That's my initial response to the build. Not a bad first shot and good job on reaching softcapped defenses.

    Making A Tanker

    I was late to the tank game but they're so much easier / cheaper to build because of the higher base defenses and/or resistances.

    I recently finished my super tank (INV/SS):

    - Inv like resistances
    - softcapped defense with 1 enemy in melee range to s/l/f/c/e/n
    - near perm DP
    - capped HP with DP running
    - 48.5hp/s regeneration when HP capped
    - no purples
    - no PVP IOs
    - no unstoppable, it's not needed

    It is over the top and a little unnecessary, but it's pretty slick and it's fun to watch him completely own things in almost every situation.

    He is my most survivable character to date.

    Stalkers

    3 things come to mind:

    - You're getting hit by an AOE
    - You're fighting Rikti drones
    - It's an ambush and some of them are attached to you

  18. Defense also suffers terribly from DR (diminishing returns). I go in with 45% to all positions and I end up with 30 to 35%. PVP is terrible. Terrible.
  19. I think you're reading too much into it. Taking Weave, Hover, CJ and Maneuvers, slotting all those nice juicy sets are the things that add to +positional defense. You asked how you can add defense to /regeneration and what you were told is the right answer. They're not directives. Nobody's telling you that you must take x,y,z. You took it about as wrong as you can take it. Someone mentioned above shooting for 20s or so for all 3 positions would probably be decent. Use mids, embrace it, love it.

    You could get this and beyond by taking Weave and CJ and sitll fit in Hasten and not gimp yourself. I think you wanted fly so if that's the case and you just plain don't like Hover and can't fit it in you don't need to take it. You may still be able to reach 20s for the positional defenses.

    But if you primarily solo or don't find yourself in overwhelming situations then you may not need Hasten or even +defense. IH, DP, whatever may be up often enough for your playstyle.

    There's a lot of good advice here from a lot of the scrapper experts. Take a step back, reread it and use the pieces that will work best for you.
  20. Bonusses max out at 5 sets so for the last you may want to save yourself some dough and go with generic IOs or SOs or something else for a different bonus like Scirocco's.
  21. Fix the post there Billy boy! He wanted to keep fly. Also no need to slot the 6 red fortunes and lose slots when the 3 BoZ's offer fantastic +ranged and +AOE defenses.

    You also didn't make the Phalanx fighting adjustment so you're *just* under 45%.
