    Tankers/Brutes need a Healor?!

    When did this happen?!

I play Tankers alot, and can honestly say I dont ever need Heals or even Buffs on moderate difficuly missions.I find it insulting when im making a team and we have 5-6 people collected and someone chimes in that we need a healer.

I litterally send a response of "If you want a healer, find another team.I dont have time to baby sit another player that wont attack."

Surprisingly I havent had anyone leave team when I say something like that.

As for Naming your Character on there Primary/Secondary?Thats Fine with me.I use those as guides on who NOT to team with.Like Dr. Healsalot, or Fire Ice Guy, and names like Daisy Fire Kin.......No Spank YOU!

    Iv got a Dark/Dark and a Dark/Elec Defender.So I R SiNnEr!!

Then again, I dont pop my heal unless im hurt and I dont play "H34lz0r" for any team and refuse to be pinned into that roll.Besides, im commonly the person on the team Tanking anyhow!:P

And as is stated before, PvP wise, you're probably much better off with your Dark/Dark due to the stacking THD.

This is true, but players are not NPCs. If they see you trying to sap (short circuit whatnot), they won't just stand about allowing you to sap. They'll be moving around making Short Circuit really hard to utilize, some (Stalker/Brutes/Doms) will actually have the upper hand if in melee of you without something to back it up, and if things start looking poorly, they'll run away a lot faster than that Crey mob will (assuming they don't just stand and wait for enough endurance to attack).

In short, your theory is nice, but your practice will probably make you pull your hair out... assuming you don't get Assassin Struck before you can.
I can agree with alot of whats said, just the fact that almost every stalker i encounter is a freakin Spines and uses Impale like its going out of style.Being Assassin Striked doesnt bother me much oddly enough.I stand still and wait for Stalkers to come get my Dark/Dark Defender as it is.Dark Servant has a damage aura that cant be shu down by a Mez.I just stand in him, and they wont get that AS off.(90% of the time that is.It doesnt always hit.)

As for Brutes trying to take me down?they have a drag out fight tryingt o do so with my Dark/Dark, so id more then likly take down there endurance rather quick.

Short Circuit by the way obeys the rules as every other power in the game.Meaning if you land by a target, in this case a player, and trigger it and they take off and are 300 feet away from you when it goes off, they are still hit by it.Its the same thing that allows a Stalker to nail a player thats hopping around with Super Jump with a AS in the first place.Same concept and iv tested for authenticity. Its a fact. They dont have to stay there to be hit by it.

The -toHit Buff will be missed, but the Dark Miasma Primary for a defender easly makes up for this.

dark/elec would be horrible damage and wouldn't be able to sapp anything. along with the other reasons defenders suck in pvp, the lack of phase/hiber or perception via patron/APP. low damage even with lolvig. if you want to sapp you'd need a primary that also sapps for elec to compliment it i.e. kin or therm.

EDIT: and im not really sure what is so bad about the pvp section. its not like people get overly snarky there when you're just simply asking a question like this. or any of your past threads.
I watched a couple uTube videos with a Elec/Thermal Corr.He used his blasts only in Arena Fights, no Exastion.A Defender does more sapping then a Corr does.

I PvP with a Dark/Dark Defender, and i rip many players apart....Why would Elec Blasts be worse then Dark Blasts? My veiw is it wouldnt, in fact, the amount id Sap would prove devistating to anyone attacking me.If unslotted Short Circuit takes half a Bosses Endurance, what will it do to another player?

My point of veiw, is if you have no Endurance, my damage doesnt matter anyhow...your going to die reguardless.

I totally agree with you on this.I just gave a benifit of the dout because a few months ago I was called a liar on exactly what you just pointed out.Thank god theres others out there that can do math....
  7. Yes I know, goto the PvP forums, but id rather not, considering nothing good ever comes from that part of the forums.

Iv been PvPing with a Dark/Dark build for practice latly, only lvl 38.Im curious how well a Dark/Elec will do in PvP, since iv seen Elec/Thermals eat Tankers in PvP, couldnt a Defender do even better?
  8. Fire_Minded

    Which to make?

Im debating on making either a Brute or a Tanker with Stone Melee.I havnt decided on the Armor Set yet either.

I want it to be for PvE and PvP, any suggjestions?
  9. Ill agree that Tankers have a lower damage cap, but do less damage then all other ATs?Thats debatable.

Atleast the types of Tanks I play do damage anyhow.

My Favorites are FA/SS and FA/FM Tanker builds.By being the focal point of the fight, I can dish out Maxed Tanker Damage Cap AoE to a entire mob.

Alot of people dont use sets for Tanks that require you to pay attention to your screen like FA does. However if you buy into a Damage Aura set like FA in the first place, you tend to do more damage then the average Willpower or Invln Tanker due to a Damage Aura and Fiery Embrace to dump more damage on.

I know for a fact a FA/FM Tanker cant out damage a Scrapper of the same FM/FA sets, but Itll sure make a MA, Kat, DB, DM, and BS Scrapper look like crap in PvE.
  10. Iv decided on a Elec/FA Scrapper.

It seems the damage on it would be Fugly, and the heal would be annoying.Anyone seen a good one running around?

I only use it in combo with power thrust for noobs who don't have enough kb.
It sounds nice, but where are all of these Psi/EMs i keep hearing about?I dont see any when i PvP on Freedom.

  13. Im curious.

Iv been playing a Energy/MM Blaster, and have been having a good time with it.It also suggjests by numbers and ect that itll be great for pvp.

Why does Boost Range matter so much when your targets dead before it can get far enough away in the first place?

Well, witht he Advant of Ninja Run, i dont see how it could be a tight build at all.People that dont have Vet Rewards to skip right to a travel power, Ninja Run is a 2-3 power god send.(3 if you skip Acrobatics or whatever for other Travel Powers.)

I tend to use Ninja Run on all my builds.I am only minus 1 Power from both of the sets i choose by lvl 38.Then have room for 3 more on my climb to lvl 50.

The Defender, well, i have a Dark/Dark i fool around with in PvP, does rather well with only SOs.
  17. Hello everyone, Im looking for some advice and feed back for PvP characters im wishing to make.

Ill be deleting a few characters to make 1 of each AT on hero and villian side for pvp.

I have a few combonations in mind, and im curious on your thoughts on them.I wont be making a Stalker, MM, or any Epics.

    They are as follows.

    Tanker - FA/SS

    Controller - Illu/Storm

    Scrapper - FM/FA

    Defender - Dark/Elec

    Blaster - Energy/MM

    Brute - SM/Invln

    Dominator - Grav/Thorn

    I agree with MA/Regen.

MA/FA or MA/Elec would be good choices too.
  19. If you want a Fire Blaster....just make a Fire/Fire/Pyre Tanker or Scrapper.

Sure youll get your fireball a bit later on, but youll have plenty of AoE, Armor, and a Heal to back you up.

Questions have now all been answered for you, problems solved...done and done.

Iv been having high survivability on a Energy/Mental Blaster latly.Lots of KD and KB with additional Psi AoE...good stuff.

    Dark/Ice rocks!

    Dark/ anything Defenders rule reguardless.

    If you want another good build.Make a Traps/Rad or a Traps/Sonic.

In response to DrMike, I don't think every mission should be extra complex but sometimes it seems like it swings way too hard in the other direction of "SMASH" being the only option.
In my time on this game iv found that the more surviveable characters tend to get all the jobs done.

I perfer Tankers, Defenders, and Controllers over all ATs in the game.Yes, they tend to kill slower. However they will clear huge 8 man mission mobs of all enemy types.

In late game a well build Scrapper can do that "Some" of the time, but not often.Alot of people put there faith in IOs to have a Blaster that can do the same job a regular SOs Tanker, Defender, or Controller can already do.However the other point on IOs is not everyone goes for them.In fact I rarely see very many people using IOs at all when I play.So its not so common in the game as it is here on the boards.

As for playstyles in the game, alot of people perfer heavy hitters like Blasters, Scrappers, Corruptors, Brutes, and ect over the rest of the ATs.They feel high damage is the answer.Which is fine if they can find situations they can survive in with that AT.Only major issue with this, is alot of damage doesnt always mean a dead mob on a Character as before mentioned without IOs.

Almost killing a entire mob before you die isnt good enough.Surviving long enough to wipe the mob and still be standing is better no matter how much damage you do.

Tankers can do rather good damage.Sure, they wont Crit like a Scrapper or throw a high damage AoE like a Blaster..but atleast they wont die the moment the mob opens up there Alpha on them.Think back to how many times youv seen a Blaster or Scrapper with no patience jump into a mob ahead of the Tanker and watched them face plant.

The Controllers and Defenders I play tend to survive longer then some of my Tankers, and do just as good of damage while doing it.

I like my Shiney new Robotic Traps/Sonic Defender.Entire 8 man mobs die when I play this Defender like a hot knife through butter. Not only can do I rather good damage for a Defender from massive -Res from my Blasts, but I can set up a Acid Mortar for even more damage. Then i have a full array of Midigating Traps I can set up even in mid battle and be rather safe in my Force Feild Drones Bubble to do it.

Does this Defender do more damage then a Blaster set up for massive AoE?Not likly.

Does it Survive longer and can it take the Alpha that a Blaster cant to take down a Mob?Most definatly.

Some people perfer to play high damage builds mainly because its alot less work, and feels stronger.Which I cant say yes or no on that part of it.

Thats just my veiw of this.
  23. Thats a curious thing...

Iv heard a Rock/FA Brute is a great Farmer, why wouldnt a EM/FA Brute be a good farmer?
  24. Iv got a Traps/Rad and a Traps/Sonic.Both good fun.

It only gives 7.5% negative energy resistance without enhancements, so I don't think you will miss it much.
    Good idea.Just 1 poblem.

Isnt the complaint about Brutes being There Endurance? If so, why take combat jumping thats a Toggle that takes Endurance?

Grounded also grants KD & KB Protection.Combat Jumping does not.
