Its all in how you perfer to play.
A Dominator is a decently high damaging, and is a somewhat survivable AT because of its Primary set being Control.
It also depends on the role you wish to play.My self personally.I perfer Tankers, Defenders, Controllers, and Corruptors because I perfer good to excellent survivability when I play.
Also, the understanding of a build really depends again to the role you want to play for the specific AT.
Id suggjet you try many ATs and combos until you fit into one or feel more comfortable with a AT and exsplore from there. -
From my Experiance with a SS/WP Brute I got to lvl 31.I can honestly say that Leadership, while a seeming good idea, isnt needed as itll make you run out of Stamina quick enough just being a Brute.
Also I never bothered with Tough or Weave, and Combat Jumping was more of a "Sucks that I have to have it." Power to gte to Super Jump for my brute, and was never used or put on my trays.
Your pretty strong without all the silly stuff.Fittness is really all you need to be powerful on a WP build because it adds to the capability of WP its self. -
I get the Fittness pool, but why the leadership pool? Those powers drain massive Endurance, and they wouldnt really be worth it from my point of veiw.
Mind to clarify why? -
Quote:They did it to make you ask questions...and it worked..Not looking to start a scuffle about this, but I only recently noticed that all of the blasts in Defender Psi Blast tend to have around 100ft range (about 20 ft longer than any other blast set). That's a nice perk. Has anything ever been said about why it's missing from the Blaster version? Did it used to be believed it would be overpowered in PVP or something?

No...your a Controller.
Theres no such thing as a "Healer" AT in this game. -
Quote:I stand Corrected. It's 10% across the board. Does not vary by attack or enemy rank as it does for Scrappers.
Not quite. It's every team member that is within 30 feet of the Stalker when the attack is made.
10-31% independent of attack. If you consider how many allies are within your 30 foot radius at any given time during a mission or TF, the average number is probably around half of your available teammates and even that may be optimistic. It's a difficult thing to measure or model since it is based on the behavior of up to seven other individuals.
I'd guess the Stalker's actual average crit rate is in 20-25% range on a full team of eight over the course of a mission or series of missions. That's not bad, but it's not necessarily enough to exceed Scrapper damage given the lower base attack modifier and lesser Build Up buff.
Good enough. I'd prefer a larger radius for the crit bonus and a 100% Build Up in PvE to more properly compete with Scrappers but... take what I can get I suppose. -
Quote:To put a finer point on it.These 2 Tankers dont need IOs to Farm, and I wouldnt need to spend money on them. They are that good as is.I don't get why farming builds can't tank and tanking builds can't farm. 2 builds is a bit expensive to shave a few secs of some map. Plus farming is a bit lame in my opinion, not worth another build, teamed in a pug I have got purps within 3 mins of eachother. I don't know how the reward system works but normal teaming works well enough for me.
I know Farming is a bit lame, however id like to crank up a few other characters by farming with 1 of these 2 tankers, or both, depending on my mood....Burn'em?or Hack'em into lil pieces? -
Quote:Then I stand corrected and apologize to Warronpeace for jumping down his throat.I don't think he was implying that your fire/fire couldn't handle +2-3/x8. Rather, I think he was saying that if you wanted to use it for what he was suggesting (farming for purples) setting to -1 would probably be the most efficient. Since purples all come in at 50 regardless of the level of the mob (as long as it's able to drop purples at all), setting to -1 wouldn't impact the type of drop you're looking for and would allow you to burn through mobs even faster.
I didnt know.Im glad you pointed it out for me. -

Considering I prolly spend more time in the game then you do, no, its not the 'only" active PvP zone in all servers.Iv found all of them to be pretty active on Freedom.

Quote:No reason to delete your Elec/** for a brute at all.You may want to remake it into a Stalker and team with it for a additional +21% Crit Chance to all your solo base crit %s for the Stalker. Here it is, guys... the big question. Has it been asked before? Probably. Has it been answered in full? Not that I know of. So, it's still on the table.
What advantages does a scrapper have over a brute? Brutes have about the same amount of HP and do more damage. On top of that, if we're imagining, say, a brute vs. scrapper PVP match, the brute will be building rage the whole time... and eventually out DPS the scrap. In PVE, the damage differences are huge, and the brutes have arguably better defenses.
Once Going Rogue hits, will Scrappers be obsolete? Should I delete my level 24 elec/*? Which ARE cuter, kittens or puppies?!? -
Ever heard that song? "Anything you can do I can do better!"
Iv been on the Hero side of things alot due to a Biast of Villians, but now with the approuch of GR, its been easier to look at Villians because of the diffrence in some power sets I can get Hero side.
Now Im starting to re-roll my Defenders into Corruptors. My Scrappers in Stalkers.I even Plan on making my Controllers into Dominators.
Ill be keeping a few builds like my FA/FM and SD/Axe Tanker and a Energy/MM Blaster.Other then that, theres almost nothing a Hero can do that a Villian cant do better.
Iv listened to people in PvP zones tell a Hero thats getting completly destroyed by 1 or more people and stated that Villians where too strong get replies along the lines of "NU-UH!Heroes are stronger!"
Which doesnt seem to be true...At all..
Except maybe in the case of maybe a Blaster or 2.
Then again, a Dominator "Claims" that a Blaster will still beat them, even if they are Perma-Dom'd and holding that Blaster for 8 seconds because that Blaster can still fire while Mez'd.
Not once have I seen a Blaster beat a Dominator in PvP without ganking it or getting the surprise drop on it to get the first few licks in.
Blasters have to BU+Aim the majority of the time, and if they are the highly talked about Psi/EM Blaster (which iv still never seen by the way), they still have to hit there Increased Range power up.Meaning thats even more time for that Dominator who is like a Juiced up Blaster without BUs get the first hits.Mezing the Blaster and ripping it into shreads before that Mez'd Blaster can even target the Dominator.
Then I come to the forums and see a whole diffrent side of things.People swearing up and down that such and such build owns in PvP, and then they post up a Mid's build of a Character they are just as likly to never make.(Hence why I dont see these mysterious and elusive Psi/EM builds running around in PvP).
Its a diffrent ball game in game vs the forums entirly.
Villians seem to have the edge over heroes in a massive way, and to me, going from Heroes to Villians because I can switch there sides is like taking the training wheel off of a bike.
Im not sure how everyone else here ont he forums feels, but forum goers are prolly not even 10% of the games population, maybe less.
Im curious if anyone here on the forums plays the game more then hey do sit on these forums playing with builds they may or may not ever use. -
Well, from personal Experiance, im learning that Stalkers are very useful on teams, no matter what there build is.
They are juiced up Scrappers on Crack!
you get a automatic 5-15% for all your attacks solo, but get a additional 3% crit chance for every team member you have in a team.
So in a 8 man team that Stalker get a Crit % of 26-36% (depending on Attack).
Id say they are already good on teams. -
Id say it has alot of promise, however its going to take alot of practice on your half to make it work every single time.
Your in for alot of visual thinking with this build. However Energy Blasts is a great tool for higher survivability when I use it on my En/MM Blaster.2 AoE KBs allow me to slap a mob backwards and hit them with AoEs before they get up, and slap them back again to do it again and kill them.
Lets not forget Drain Psyche is easier to use when the mobs on its butt.
It would be a little bit more difficult to accomplish this on a Corruptor due to the lack of AoE damage.Debuffs are 1 thing, but killing the mob is another.
Id honestly recomend going with a diffrent Energy Blasts Corruptor.
One build comes to mind that would work well with it is Pain Domination.
Use a Energy Torrent to throw the mob back, then run in and nail them with your Scream dropping there resistance to damage and hit them with Energy Exsplosion.Heal when needed, was, rinse, repeat.
There more combonations im sure, but thats just one off the top of my head. -
Quote:You are correct on the assumption of the difficulty my SD/Axe Tanker can handle. However your very missguided with beliving -1/8 is the ideal level for my Fire/Fire handling.I could see the Fire/Fire being a decent purple farmer, lots of AoE and with decent recharge FE can be up quite often, allowing you mow through -1/x8 at extreme speed.
The Shield/Axe would be good pure inf/non-purple drops farming, since it can be softcapped easily and dish out lots of single target and aoe damage. +2-3/x8 wouldn't be much of a sweat for such a build.
It handles +2-3/8 like my SD/Axe does. -
Quote:I have a Shiney new MA/SR Stalker, it Scraps very well so far.Hi folks, long time player, first time Stalker here and Id appreciate some guidance. Despite being here for almost 5 years, Ive never mastered the Stalker AT so Ill admit ignorance to a lot of how they play and what they contribute to a team.
Basically, I have been planning on a character to explore Going Rogue content and although I thought Id settled on a Blaster, however, a couple of kung fu movies later and suddenly I'm considering a martial arts master, a character type Ive never done before.
Now heres the thing. Ive played plenty of Scrappers before but never a Stalker and the impression Ive always got was that Stalkers could hit a single target very hard and then scrap it out a little bit before having to run and hide again. Whereas by contrast Ive watched a friends Dark/Regen Scrapper solo the entire final room of Gaussians RWZ arc. (Myself and the rest of the team were faceplanted at the time, it was quite epic to watch.)
So I guess what Im wondering is: Are Stalkers capable of the same kind of insane feats such as these? Or are they the exclusive domain of insane Scrappers? Can I hang around and take on a few mobs or are Stalkers still limited to taking a few hard targets down and then fleeing before being swamped?
For information, the Stalker I have in mind will be MA/Nin. Thanks for your time. -
Quote:Thats a Diffrent Story then.I have a s/l softcap version of one with just shy of perma hasten that I plan to roll one of these days. Hibernoob and hoarfrost to help out too.
I want one too because you never see it and it is the best. Just like my ill/cold which I've only seen one other of and yet it is probably the fastest big game killer in the game. There are still lots of untapped power combos, just need creative people to push them to the limit.
I may make a Fire/Thorn Dom, or a Plant/Thorn....both are horriffic in the control and AoE damage area. -
-
Quote:Well your very right on this asspect, but if your a Kin/ Defender, odds are youll be in Melee range for atleast your heal.I would advise against Kin/blast set/Dark, as the big reason to go Dark APP is for Soul Drain. You should already be capping damage with Fulcrum Shift, so you won't really benefit from it. Also, Transference will be better for you than Dark Consumption. Though, if you were to get it anyway, Soul Transfer and Oppressive Gloom are always nice.
So if you did go with Kin/Dark, you could easly take the Electric Epic for Thunder Strike....Atleast I would anyhow. -

Quote:If you want Insane, go for Electrical Blasts.Making an Offender. Already decided on Kin/ Now I need a secondary stat.
I have played with a Dark/Elec Defender (Currently re-rolled into a Corruptor) and it dropped a entire mobs Endurance in 2 Shots.Nothing was capable of harming me.Even on a +2/8 man mission setting Solo.
Hasten and your self speed boosting power can allow for rather fast end droppage without sacrificing -recovery on your blasts.
I cant really see how itll be capable of Solo play until you get the Psi Epic, but on a team it wouldnt only Heal, SB, and FS.It would take the fight out of the mod in 2 hits....Litterally, and due to FS you wont slow down on damage either.
Just my opinion, but theres always more then 1 of those.Just about any Secondary will work with Kin/ on a Defender, provided you figure out how.
Iv got a Grav/Kin Controller. It does very well Solo and in team play.Theres almost nothing it cant handle.(So Far)
I stand firm and set up a vote for Electrical Blasts. -
Aoe Lawnmowers you say?
Plant/Rad/Fire-Controller
FA/FM/Pyre-Tanker
Elec/Elec-Blaster
Cold/Ice-Defender
Elec/Dark/mace-Corruptor
Ice/Ice/Ice-Tanker (does ALOT more damage then people believe it will.)
Elec/Ninjitsu-Stalker
And the top number 1 AoE God of them all?
*Drum Roll*
Fire/Thorn-Dominator (With optional Kung-Fu Grip!)

I have 2 high level Tankers, im trying to decide on which one to turn into a farming build.
SD/Axe or a FA/FM?
Both have good points to them, and do a massive amount of damage with great survivability thus far with only SOs.
Im curious what kind of arguments could be placed agenst these 2 juggernauts of death and destruction on which would be a better farming build?
