I did just one "strand" though, I didn't stop XP and run the other or anything.
No, it's like 2 per contact, and there's like 3 contacts per level bracket. The brackets go 1-9, 10-14, 15-20, and I was doing both the Resistance threads, so I stopped my xp gain at 9, 14 and 20 until I'd gotten the morality mission that ends each arc. It took a little juggling and checking Paragonwiki to make sure the levels of the contacts I was playing so I wouldn't go past them.

Basically, that's the one thing I feel the devs really effed up about Praetoria - you outlevel contacts and they just stop giving you the next step, and you level way too fast in Praetoria. As it was, I have to solo there if I want any chance of looking at the storylines and getting badges/merits. That same character also got every single Praetorian badge, so I was enjoying taking my time in the zone.

Aside from that though, things are pretty much the same outside of Praetoria, and the only zone that gives you any kind of structured arc pre-20 is Faultline, and I don't even know how many merits that gives. I was super sad to bring that character out of Praetoria and find that Jim Temblor won't give you anything if you're over 19 so I had to skip that zone.

Craptoria, huh? The merits per-story might be small, but since they pile up every time you complete an arc of 4-5 missions, they add up.

My latest praetorian ran Resistance and came out with 187 merits at level 20. That's not crappy to me!

There is also the stigma of AE in general. Most people will either 1) Realise that you aren't doing a Farm Team and quit or 2) Refuse to join an AE team because they assume its either a Farm Team or some crappy mission the leader put together (which is often WORSE than a farm). Of the AE missions I've played via PuGs over the last few months it's been of this type *shudder*
Yeah you can. I've added people to my AE teams while the arc is still running. They say TF but they don't restrict the team.

I personally use AE for both - farming tickets for IOs (mostly that I use on my own huge stable of alts, but also to sell the excess) and to play through and write stories.

The biggest problem is the difficulty, imo. It's almost impossible to judge what kind of difficulty you're going to be up against, and most of the mobs are way tougher than equivalent mobs of the same level found in the outside world. Sometimes that's fun, but sometimes I just want to play through the story and can't because someone made mobs that are just too hard for the particular character I'm playing.

They wouldn't have to let US customize the minions. Most of us would be happy with:

    1. 2-4 different skins to choose from, per minion type
    2. Abillity to lock in minions so the minion with that name always has that skin.

If they don't want a herd of strippers or crazy grandmas with guns following us, fine. But the single set of randomizing appearances we currently have sucks

From what I understand that was only done to the 'worst' offenders and was rare. Now this is all speculation from the boards, so there is not telling how accurate it is. But considering Posi's rant on the subject the rumors do seem to make sense.
well, and here I thought that was pretty much the perfect deterrant, too! Use it all you want, they'll just take it away when it gets fixed!

I have no idea, like I said, I'd read it in several articles about fixing the exploits in MA when it went live.

Here's one: http://www.eldergame.com/2009/05/use...ruby-slippers/ - there's others, but I don't want to go searching for a bunch of old articles just to prove I'd heard of it, lol

    AE Removal?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that people who gained xp through known exploits in AE had that xp revoked when the exploit mission was removed? Or at least, at one point? Doesn't that stop those exploit farms from being actually profitable for power leveling?

I speak only from articles read online, since this isn't a factor of the game I participate in.

    3) They have stated that the new TFs and further incarnate content are geared specifically towards Incarnates. You want something more difficult? Your likely gonna get it.
I really didn't miss any of that, Techbot.

My point is that it's already possible to make an extremely powerful character in this game, in every AT, without a ton of difficulty. I personally have no head for math, farming bores me to death, and I don't min/max very well. That being said, most of my characters feel and play very powerful, are perfectly able to solo above the default difficulty setting, and enjoy team play with competent teams without excessive difficulty. Many of them are close to softcapped when their build plays out, most of them have a ton of recharge, and all of them do competent damage.

    And that is within ED.

My point is that I don't see it being such a gamebreaking boost that they're going to be able to build content specifically around it. It's a moderate boost, and we're allowed to pick and choose between which boosts we want. How do you build content around "maybe having x% more recharge, maybe having x more magnitude holds, maybe having x% more damage" in a way that doesn't penalize people who choose different powers? And how could you possibly tune content in such a specific demographic?

The level boost is something I hadn't seen and I do see how that could indeed let them build content that would only be completable with Incarnates, simply because you wouldn't be able to hit things that are enough levels above you. But in the end, that's just raising the level cap without giving us more xp to earn, and it seems like the system wants to be more than that.

I just don't see any content currently in the game that NEEDS us to be more powerful for it, and I have a hard time seeing how they're going to tune content that DOES need us to be more powerful, but only in a very specific window, see?

And no, I'm not complaining. I think the game is fine as is, I have no need for everything to be SUPER NINTENDO HARD. This is not some leet min/maxer complaining the game is too easy. This is me being honestly curious what the need for the power levels is, and what they're going to actually accomplish.

I think he level shift is probably the largest difference but even there you'd need to be fighting enemies that are +3 or higher to the non-Incarnate to really notice the difference.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic about the new system (more toys to play with) but I'm skeptical about the claim that the new TFs will be extremely difficult without it. The variation in team strength in the current game is extreme enough that I can't see it increasing out power enough beyond what is currently possible to make it practical to balance content around having the Alpha slot.
    Basically this, yes!

It seems to me like the Incarnate system will be most beneficial to people who don't use the invention system already, but will those people really want to use the Incarnate system when it uses inventions? I guess we'll see!
  9. I guess this is the thing I'm least excited for in i19 and beyond. I just don't get it. We can already IO our toons out to godly proportions, and now with the new Alignment Merit system, it's really not difficult to do... and most of the game isn't very difficult to begin with. I've yet to run into anything in this game that I can't complete, most of it in a duo, and TFs with a competent team - not even an expert team, just a competent one. I just don't get the point of making our characters godly powerful... in order to do what? And are the upcoming TFs really going to be of a carefully balanced difficulty where the extra regen/damage boost is going to be the make or break point? I think it's a lot more likely that they'll be more difficult and any good team will be able to do them fine, because I can't see a way to predicate the difficulty on a boost like that - especially when we're choosing which boost we want. Are controllers who don't take the mez boost going to be unable to complete them?

I mean, yay powers, everyone loves their toon to be awesome, but it seems like it's just there to BE powerful.

    THIS.

I'd forego pool customization almost entirely (though the pink circles and scribbles on everything psi still makes me a sad kitty) if they'd simply give us a "no FX" option for Hasten. Especially if it includes that stupid sound.

I have Hasten on almost all my characters, and it's set to autofire. *sighs*

It's just that she's not dead there.
  13. Also if you're running NoScript or AdBlock in Firefox, temporarily/permanently give permission to NCSoft and Paypal, or shut them down completely for the duration of the purchase.

Aside from that, the store is just buggy. My husband and I each had to try multiple times to purchase it.
  14. I love it!

Quick question though: Glycerine minimized as an icon in the taskbar, but Titan Sentinel just sits there as a minimized program. Any chance there's a way to get it to just minimize to an icon? I basically never closed Glycerine since I was always forgetting to open it.

Due to an error in the way the unofficial patch was implemented (namely when they copied the powers they didn't update the internal ID number so there are two powers with the same number and it gets confused), it won't read it properly though; instead, when loading up an unofficial I19 build, it will drop the bad fitness powers and load up the correct inherent fitness powers (it'll lose the slots and enhancements, so you'll have to readd them manually).

When you load an I18 build, it will load up exactly as now, except the Power Pool has been renamed to "Legacy Fitness". As soon as you remove the legacy fitness powers, it will add in the Inherent Fitness powers.

New builds, likewise, will use the Inherent Fitness powers unless, for some reason (like modelling an existing character you don't want to respec), you decide to give them powers from the Legacy Fitness pool, at which point it will drop the inherent ones.

As I said before, it is a priority for us to make the change to the new version as easy as possible, and I think we've pulled it off.
You guys rule! Thank you so very much for putting in the effort to making this happen!

I usually don't, actually - I don't want to give more clues than necessary that it's a costume change. If I could get it to happen without resetting all her toggles, that would be awesome - I'd like it to just organically happen where she's suddenly sparking.

I usually have an "/e twitches and buzzes." when it happens though. So far, the thing that sets her off without fail is being TP'd, but there have been a few other triggers as well.
  18. Honestly? I play for the devs.

I like 90% of the people I meet in this game, I have a great SG and some great friends, but at the end of the day, I have to enjoy the game and the game world - that's why I left a fantastic group of people I'd been playing The Big Game with for three years, because I couldn't stand the GAME anymore.

Unlike most of the other MMOs out there, every patch doesn't bring such massive change/buff/nerfs that I have to totally rebuild at least one of the classes I play. I don't have to trade up my IOs for new ones because my powers no longer draw on X stat or focus. My classes may get tweaked, but there's not the constant cycle of class change that other MMOs seem to think it awesome.

Stuff gets added to this game, things get fixed, and things get changed, but it seems a much more additive experience. I have yet to log into this game and then log out in disgust because some change to the game changed it to the point where I have to re-learn it.

I've tried other MMOs, but I keep coming back here, because the game itself has a solid foundation that they don't destroy every time they add something. As long as the devs are loyal to the game, so will I be
  19. The best part of these to me is the combat only options! I rarely want my entire toon obscured the whole time I play them, but I love having these auras pop on to show a use of power!

    So far...

Puzzle Pook rarely wears clothing, but I did have a "cloak-and-vest" combo for chilly days. Now the cloak has leaves and sheds them too The plant/TA version of Puzzle has the leaf aura on hands in combat-only She's in her Autumn coloration phase currently.

Opal actually got the most costumes changed by this, as all of them now have the runes aura in combat-only in deep blue She also got the Impervium cape on her armor costume..

And the Cloak of the Circle on her martial arts costume.

Opal's cousin Echo also got the rune eyes-and-body combat aura, but in white! She's using the Magic cloak too.

The corruptor version of my WS got a dark purple thundercloud "body and eyes" combat effect to make her even more WarShade-y!

RadLad got the Unified Field cloak on his armor, and the Atomic aura in bright green as a combat option!

Aguara, my Earth/Rad controller (with Rad colored brown to maintain the "earth shaman" powerset look) got the Thunderclouds in brown on her fists as a combat option to look like she's pulling magic through earth

Silvia Fiorella Pook, my dryad (currently also in her Autumn phase!) got the leaf aura on all her costumes. She's also got the leaf cloak on one or two.

My malfunctioning Clockwork girl Sparkdance got the sparks aura (of course!) on one of her costumes. The other costume is exactly the same, but no sparks, so I can swap to it whenever she "shorts out."

Seriously, I'm getting a ton of use from this
  20. I'm incredibly pleased with it. Over half my characters are using some part of it at this point.

And a huge highpoint to me is NEVER running the aura/cape mission again :P

Yeah, you can't add anything that doesn't "belong" to the widow set in the uniform slot. I wasn't aware you could use *any* auras with slot 1, that's probably a bug.
  22. The fun thing is that the characters of mine who are using the leaf cloak and leaf swirls aura aren't natural, they're magic. However, they could easily be considered natural, depending on how you look at it - one's a dryad, one's a faun. They're pretty much made of magic, which is their natural state, so either origin could be considered correct for them.

I also have a little mutant feral barbarian character who uses the leaf cloak. Because it's sewn-together leaves, and that's what she had when it got cold.

I'm kinda confused as to why there's a complaint here. It's not like anyone is restricted to using these ONLY on Natural characters. If you're disappointed that an aura you wanted isn't available, I can understand that, but why complain about what we were given?

I for one am THRILLED they're finally giving something for the rest of us. Not ALL characters are about martial arts and guns, and there's at least three powersets that rely heavily on the whole "power of nature" theme.
