i remember when Invoul got immobile when you activated the anti knockdown power, it was so useless

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't find it useless, but I did find that I had to really think about it's use. Then, I had to position myself in the right place before activating Unyielding. Now, I fire it up and go charging into battle.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Burning Tanks on fire off the shoulder of Brickstown. I watched Smoke Grenades glitter in the dark near the Crey's Folly gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, wonderful memories *cough* Bladerunner *cough*

Here's mine. Had a hard time with it. Turned out the forums don't accept .JPG extensions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes they do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh. I tried everything, but once I de-capped the extension to .jpg, it worked. I just assumed it was the capitalization.

Guess I should know what they say about "assume."

::A giant spaceship sucks up the whole thread.. then spits out everyone in it as a zombie cat-girl::

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well now I'm definitely not going to join this thread.

    Oops, too late!
  6. This is another thread in the "Everyone should play the way I do" vein.

I like SM because it has a nice SMASH effect. I don't like the glowing pom poms of death. Simple as that.
  7. Wow, this is absolutely great! I like the compilation of different ways to present IDs. It's given me some ideas.

Just once, and one time only, I want Posi to let loose with an enormous blast that just clears everything for about a 2 block radius. And the people who see it will of course need to change their pants but then can tell evryone for the rest of their CoH days that they were there when.......

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but then we'd see a thread complaining about how the game only caters to those who are next to Positron 24/7, how anti-casual-player the game is, and how Positron needs to be nerfed.
  9. I don't think the Hollows is any more dangerous than Perez Park.

I find it annoying to have missions that force me to run through really dangerous sections where everything is purple. But that is true of any area. IMO, I would think it would turn off some players, but I have no evidence to back up my opinion.

But I think that since the Igneous are merely smoking lumps on the ground, it's way too easy to wander through them and get surprised. This danger is unique to the Hollows.

It's possible to get stuck in some of the low areas of the Hollows and be unable to get out because groups of red and purple foes block you in. But similar things happen in Perez Park.

Otherwise, the area is dangerous. It's supposed to be. I think it could be frustrating for new players, but I don't know whether that's true or not. It's definitely annoying to get around in without a travel power, but less so than the woods of Perez Park.

I really don't think anything needs fixing. I don't like going there because the Hollows isn't to my taste, but that's just personal preference.

You don't "settle" for Alex Ross doing anything. You beg.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Bah, Ross is WAY overrated. There's plenty of artists just as good as Alex Ross out there, many of them who aren't as glacially slow as he is either. He's just one of the few that actually does comics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, back at ya! And double bah!

/e begs and whines like a little puppy dog.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Now if we could only get Alex Ross to do the artwork.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Omigod! I have the Alex Ross "Mythology" calendar hanging on my wall next to my desk here.

I would pay real money if Alex Ross were on board for the artwork.

Maybe Mark Waid and Alex Ross can be pulled together to do an arc in the comic next year. As I said, I'd pay a premium just to get that.

I'm guessing that Accuracy will be nerfed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh man, you're in for it now. Someone is going to quote that out of context saying how Statesman said that he was going to nerf accuracy in Issue 4.

    You just can't win.

    WonderCon

Maybe we should think about traveling out to San Jose so we can meet up with everyone in person? This used to happen in an MMO I used to be in. It was well-received on both sides.

Yeah. How's about you don't screw DragonCon over this year by saying. "Oh by the way...we're not coming to that con next week!" Honestly, after doing that, that should've been the first Con visit you announced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They didn't screw DragonCon. It was more the other way around. There was a posting at the time that explained it in circular language to avoid stepping on people's toes. There are some players here on the boards who know the backstory better than me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I heard the story. Frankly I don't believe it. They had only announced DC like 3 weeks before it was scheduled to occur, if that. By that point, DC had already closed their vendor registrations and whatnot. I imagine they got caught outside. In anycase, it's not a matter of who screwed who, it's a matter of trying harder to make sure all of your fans have the chance to get some of the pie.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Your choice not to believe it, friend. I'm not going to try to convince you because you've already made up your mind.

    Boss Changes

    [ QUOTE ]
My main issue right now is the ?one shot? defeats. Blasters, Controllers or Defenders who round a corner a little too quickly can find themselves facing instant debt. They have no opportunity to prepare for the boss because they didn?t see him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My opinion is that soloing characters must exercise more patience and caution than those in a team. When I solo a mission with a non-tank and I don't have some kind of stealth power like super-speed, I don't go racing through rooms and around corners without watching where I am going. Tactics and situational awareness are important. If a player is going to run a controller along willy-nilly and just start trying to lock down everything in sight without conning first, then they deserve to be occasionally one-shotted. It teaches them the virtue of patience.

Now, if you could insure that bosses only appeared at the ends of corridors or the middle of rooms, that would be great. That makes it possible for players to con every mob in a group and plan before going to work.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I would LOVE to do Pulp stuff...but would it sell? That's the issue.

Doc Savage. The Shadow. Agent 13. *shudders* Such great potential from the Pulp world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I would buy it.

I think it would work better as a separate game. I'm not sure how you could do the more earthy atmosphere of the pulps with lots of garishly-dressed superheroes running around. Perhaps a special server with different costume and power options?

But if I had to pay for it, I would.
  19. It's pretty much always been this way. Not every AT can solo every mission. Some ATs can solo most every mission. Some can only solo a small fraction of missions. Not every AT gains XP at the same rate.

But if you pick and choose missions, I'll bet that every AT can find missions to solo at every level. You just may not see much of the content in the game.
  20. "I feel good, and I'm not scared at all.
I just feel kind of... kind of invincible.
Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?"

For those who want to bind quotes for the use of the inspirations.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Are there any existing pills that I can pop while I'm under a status effect? It turns out there is. Revives! So the idea of being able to trigger an anti-status inspiration while sleeping or stunned doesn't seem that odd to me when you can pop a pill while *dead*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, yeah. That's a really good point.

    [ QUOTE ]
Still don't like the idea of two anti-status insps. Merge this post-effect ability with Iron Wills, replace one with the other, however you want to look at it, but we don't have enough insp slots to be playing an inspiration arms race.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like how you think. I thought about the different inspirations I carry around normally and how I don't have enough slots to fit in new types. I just didn't post it.
  22. The game player part of me likes this because it's an advantage for me. It means I'll be defeated less often.

The roleplayer part of me asks "How can I use inspirations if I'm slept or stunned or held?" That part is bothered that these new inspirations will be available.

I would rather have seen fewer status-affecting villains and less chain-stunning. At the very least, don't make the use or effect of these inspirations 100% certain. Something like "Must break free, must help teammates," yet you may or may not be able to do so, depending on the levels of the status effects.

I guess, like some other things in the game, I'll figure out some way to rationalize it. I'm pretty good with that.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I'm still kinda curious about what the Science skills help out with. I hope it's not something where I have to build a flux capacitor and find the 1.21 gigawatts to power the damn thing. Then again, making gizmos would be pretty nifty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had thought that the crafting of inspirations or enhancements might have been the SSOCS. You'd have science or magic skills to be able to manufacture inspirations or enhancements. I wasn't particularly looking forward to the idea, but I would have been able to live with it.

This is much cooler, I think.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I'd like to know if these skills will be essential in some missions (i.e. you can't continue unless you have a Forensic scientist with you), or whether they'll just add boosts (like extra experience or more clues/missions/whatever).

    [/ QUOTE ]

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that some missions would require certain skills, but I would also expect that the mission description would explictly say so. I would also expect that such missions wouldn't jeopardize story arcs.

I wouldn't be surprised to find larger supergroups encouraging members at each level to be specialists in each skill.
  25. Woo-hoo!

Er, I mean, I hope no innocent citizens are hurt by the invaders. I must rush home and defend them.

Yes, that's what I really meant.
