  1. In mine, I made an EB with Extreme Willpower who runs at 10% life. Even if you beat him, he immediately pops Resurgence and keeps running. The odds of a team killing him, from full health in the time it takes him to run (out of Blackbeard's Casino, no less) are practically zero. You still get the mission success and all it's rewards, and you still defeated his gang (he also runs at minion defeat), but alas, he got away to build the plot further.
  2. My only arc does have a little case of "behold, my TRUE form!" where there's an EB version in the middle of the arc with "natural" powers, and a "powered" version in the 5th mission (with the aftermath of his transformation in the 4th, of course)

By the way. Happy birthday, Arcanaville!

    Epic win.
  4. Though the whole premise of this thread is pretty flawed (as Cav pointed out), the tips you give for make sense, and go a long way towards making an interesting mission.

Also. Outdoor missions are good when used correctly. "Fight the boss(es)" or "rescue the hostage(s)" missions suck on outdoor maps, because there is a high ratio of wandering around searching to actual fighting. I can't remember a single canon arc that was outdoor and required a search that I enjoyed. The reason for this is there is no inherently obvious place on most outdoor maps for an objective to be placed. (there are some exceptions, of course, but then sometimes, the objectives still don't spawn there)

If you HAVE to have an outdoor map with a non glowing and humming search objective, make that objective obviously visible somehow. Using the various magical capture emotes could be a good way.

Perhaps I'm way off base with my opinion in this, but that's my 2 inf.

I noticed that Rularuu Natterlings available from 41-54 have vanished from the custom group creator

    [/ QUOTE ]

Separate problem. Natterlings have a power called "Merge" that allows them to combine with another Natterling to make a Bull Natterling. If you placed a Natterling as a player ally in the mission and it got hurt, it would combine... with the player. Killing it instantly.

    [/ QUOTE ]Om nom nom.

Much more in-character for the natterlings than it was for the Malta robots.

  7. I'm considering making a few of my secondary builds into gimpy versions to test my arcs. Pretty easy when I'm only spending inf for enhancements on the primary build in most cases.

If my no-enhancement controller can survive, even barely, I think it should be about right.

Also, I've found the best solo balance is to add optional allies that are 1-on-1 equals to the boss of the mission. Therefore allowing an epic boss battle that can be reliably soloed.
  8. Arc ID: 17209
    Name: The Inhumanity of Humanity
    Morality: Neutral
Enemies: Somatica (Custom), Hauntings (generic custom mix), Nephandi (Generic custom mix)
Description: A mentally scarred girl, a powerful psychic, and some very unlikely alles help to uncover a plot of corruption and cruelty connecting the heart of Paragon with the shores of the Rogue Isles, and the twisted mad doctor at the center of it all. (Contains some mature themes.)
Difficulty: Moderate. (1EB and 1AV, each with NPC help of nearly equal value.)
Time to Complete: About 20-30 minutes, mostly in the last 2 maps.

  9. So far, the most useful seem to be the ones with a number of charges. The best I've had so far is the Socialite power Beguile. When I'm tooling around on my alts, it's pretty easy to have 20 uses built up on my Stalkers. A second Placate is amazingly useful on a Stalker, even if it is a little bit weaker. Also there's the frag grenade and the jetpack. Both gems amidst the Day Job rubble.

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz.........can we start open Beta yet?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Seriously!!! This issue has been long overdue. C’mon marketing let us see it.

[/ QUOTE ]Just as before, fix'd...

The devs are chomping at the bit to let us in. Notice that as soon as they were authorized to talk about Archetect details, Positron and Pohsyb let forth a veritable deluge of the information we were asking for all along. When Marketing tells them to go open, they'll be doing a happy happy dance as they push the big green button.

IIRC, back when the architect was going to be part of i13, there was mention that if an arc of yours graduated to the "hall of fame" or some sort of distinction, it would no longer count as one of your published arcs, freeing up a slot for you to publish another.

[/ QUOTE ]I believe it was said that getting into the Dev's Choice category would do this, but I doubt the devs would deign to consider arcs outside of the Hall of Fame.

What happens to arcs if the player who created them goes inactive?

Can trial accounts use the MA? ( Better not... )

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm still on my first cup of coffee, and haven't been able to kindle the CT reactor yet this morning, so apologies if it's obvious to everyone but me, but what am I missing? What's the problem with letting trial accounts use the MA?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Freak Slicer: Oh no! It's Captain Dynamic!
Tank Smasher: Don't worry! We'll mop the floor with him! He can't afford all the best enhancements like he could if he'd only bought 10 million influence from www.stupidgoldsellingwebsite.com for only $10!

    [/ QUOTE ]

OMG it's diabolical, I never even thought of that...

I'm torn between amusement at the idea and horror...

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a horrific relevance to this that must be address!

[/ QUOTE ]You know, if it's an entertaining enough plug, the arc might not be such a terrible inconvenience. If it's annoyingly stupid, the arc will get reported into oblivion so fast tachyons would be required to perceive its published duration.
  13. Holy FFF-Wow! That's a glorious flood of dev information right there! It sounds like I'll have even more fun with this than I thought I would!

    3. What rewards are we giving to the players and creators?

We’re granting full experience (XP) and influence rewards for defeating enemies in player made content. We’re also giving players tickets in place of random drops. They can take these tickets to an Architect ticket vendor and redeem them for various in game rewards, such as enhancements, recipes and salvage. We’re also allowing players to purchase unlockable content with their tickets. They’ll be able to get maps, costume pieces and different characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hope that helps.

[/ QUOTE ]Wait, so MA tickets are essentially merits? DO WANT!

I can't wait to see all of SGs that create a mission and force players to run it before they can be initiated into the SG.

I imagine a good portion of these will be the same ones that blind SG invite people in Atlas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd imagine just the opposite. Blind inviting people in Atlas represents the absolute lowest possible bid for recruitment. Actually creating a story arc and expecting recruits to go through it suggests a much greater level of commitment, whether the arc is designed to be painfully difficult (to weed out only sufficiently competent players), or some kind of roleplaying tie-in, or just an in-game tutorial for SG rules. Something like this... <NPC made to look and speak like the SG leader>: "Thanks for helping me defeat those Council Troops, Awesome Guy! I'm heading back to the Justice Lounge now, and if you'll come by later you can fill out some official membership paperwork and get access to our full set of Teleporters, Med Bay, storage for Salvage, Inspirations and Enhancements, and recreation facilities. We just ask that you maintain proper decorum in the official communication channel (OOC: SG and Coalition chat are In Character please), and wear your team badge around so people can see you're working with us (OOC: Please play in SG mode until level 25)", would be a bit more fun than the standard rundown of the rules.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm definitely hoping for Architect access from within an SG base, but somehow, I think I'm wishing in vain....
  16. *checks mail* Ah well...

It's what I get for telling people to stop crying doom about Stalker Elec Melee back when I was in i12 beta...

I know it was an overstepping of bounds, but I still feel the action was justified.
  17. Inspiration Combining - Can't picture how I got along without this for so long before...

    Base Changes (!!!)
    Stalker Buffs
    Stalker Electric Melee
    EA Buffs
    Dual builds
  18. <QR> Wow... Just wow... I bow to Doomgineer's technical superiority.
  19. v_v Soooo far out of my range...

Ah well, that's what I get for being a casual player.
  20. Wow this looks like a fun idea, as I'm only interested in a fifty for VEATs, this would be perfect for me... But alas, it's already outside of my price range villainside.

EDIT: What if my bid is "All infamy my side of the pact earns"?

  21. Base Repricing
    1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
Rooms will have no effect, as I will be placing all rooms before i13 goes live in order to make full use of magic doors. Mostly there will be a massive upgrade of equipment. Also, both of my one-player SGs will have rent, where they did not before.
    2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Items yes, rooms no. I will not be editing rooms at all until some method of placing double doors is implemented in the future.
    3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
With the new stacking rules, around three hours per base... I am the architect for six separate Supergroups... 18 enjoyable hours total.
    4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Great for decorative and party SGs, not as much for single player and functional SGs which will find themselves having to deal with rent.
    5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
i13 will be a massive expance of new land, where work towards filling it will be at a more respectable pace than it was before.

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
    1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
30 items per salvage rack is a stranglehold for most large groups. Some kind of separate event salvage storage is going to be needed before Christmas. for the hundreds of candy canes and later for halloween items that SGs will be gathering to offer as incentive for new members to join.

    2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Large generators and control items will cost as much influence-wise as teleporters.

    3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
I've already got the hang of it on Test, and my SG mates are all baffled (or just uninterested) by the current base crafting system anyway.

    4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
People are hoarding base salvage to take advantage of room in current salvage racks.

    5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
Same as the old security concerns... Nothing has changed there. (that is not a good thing.)

    Additional Notes:
I am absolutely looking forward to some kind of re-institution of magic doors past this issue, as it would help my SGs to take advantage of the repricing without losing their look.
  22. Oh my god... Stacker... It's just... they should have sent a poet.

    I... I feel so inadequate.

  23. First, you can have more than one purple set on a toon, just not more than one of the same purple set. Second, it's worth noting that Perfect Zinger and Dark Watcher's Despair have their Recharge set bonus at 4 set pieces instead of 5. This makes powers with -tohit or Taunts pretty useful.

Third, Whirlwind can be slotted with Knockback sets last I checked. Putting a Force Feedback proc in it nearly guarantees you'll get the recharge boost at least once in a fight. Of course, it also drains the crap outta your endurance and gets everyone's attention.

    Just some extra little tips.
  24. Sort of the same way that Brawl changes to a kick when you have a bow or a hilt smack when you have a katana out.

I'm really curious to see what Shadow maul looks like with a shield... Not just a description of a guess, but to actually see it.
  25. I don't think he meant that they would actually be removing powers, but instead placing the biggest changes on the powers that are taken the least...

Off the top of my head, Group Fly, Team Teleport, most of the Presence Pool and all forms of Repel are going to be neigh unrecognizable by the end of this.

I've always said I'll take a Patron when one of them offers my Mastermind PBU...
