  1. For what it's worth, I've seen this happend at the end of Mission Architect arcs too. (The team disbanding.)
  2. You can check the availability of name on your target server using the first screen of the character creator before making the transfer. You would have to be extremely unlucky for somebody to take the name in the time between checking and transferring.

In my experience of running a character from 8 to 50 teamed with a higher level character but doing both our missions, I did get credit toward the mentoring badges when my mission was set.
  4. I can't think of one in game but this literally JUST happened to me on our IM system at work.

UAT Tester : Do you have an account number for a deceased customer?

Feefa (unironically) : I'll see if I can dig one up for you.
  5. After watching this thread all week I've just "joined the club" by paying 15,000,001 for an Essence of the Furies.

At least a can console myself slotting to LoTG +7.5% I was bought for.

    Mids Help!

Also, make sure that the button next to "Dynamic" reads "Power/Slot" rather than "Power Only".

I was not even aware of that button (or at least not aware that it had any function) until I fired up Mids' out of curiousity to see if I could recreate your problem. It seems to turn off the placing of slots and it's setting survives New/Clear and closing and restarting Mids.
  7. I often go a whole session without seeing that message but then look in inventory and see that I've found a handful. My theory is that, in the heat of combat, I only notice the white letter "I" and assume it's a common invention salvage message.
  8. The information in the playslot.txt file is case sensitive and the server name used comes directly from the login edit box without modification. Always type your account name in exactly the same way when you log in if you want to maintain character order.

In more detail, pretending that my account name is "feefaj", if I log on by typing FEEFAJ in the box, rearrange my characters and then log off and log on again but this time type my user id as FeefaJ then I get my characters in a different order.

The good news is that if I log off again and log back in as FEEFAJ then the original order is restored. Logging in as FeefaJ again gives me the order associated with that version. I can effectively maintain multiple character orders by varying the way I type the account name.

    Updating CoH

If you start the launcher now it will download any of the update it has not already downloaded in the background and patch the client ready for when the servers come back.

    EU vs US Client

When I came back to the game last year I accidentally downloaded the EU client. I'm in the UK but all my characters are on the US servers. The computer I installed to had no existing installation of CoH.

I realised my mistake when I saw the server list so I downloaded the US launcher and kicked that off instead. The game started up immediately without seeming to download anything.

My conclusion would be that the two clients are probably identical and if they are not then the differences are so small that I didn't even notice the download.
  11. Malta Gunslinger Action Figure is only Tip Mission is actively avoid because of it's potential to throw two Sappers at you at once. I don't like the other Malta mission either, I forget the name, but I will do it if it's the only one I've got.

We can only surmise that the heavies were onboard the bombers we destroyed...

Congratulations to all those who can now say they are among the elite few who have destroyed a Rikti dropship. Special thanks to Crimson Guardian and Lady Gr3y and all others who helped promote and organize the strike teams.
Thanks for putting this together Falcon. It was probably the most fun I've had in game since coming back to game in January. Shame about the heavies. Luckily, I had picked up the badge in PI at around 8:25.

I can confirm that Diggis is correct. Every costume you save does appear in the costumes folder of your CoH install folder, e.g.

    c:\Program Files\City of Heroes\costumes\

You can save your costume to this folder from Mission Architect as well as the Tailor.

I've had a few long breaks where I've stayed subbed but not played for months. To be honest I can't remember whether I saw the cut scene the first time I did FF or the first time after one of my breaks but it was definitely the first one I ever saw.
  15. Got to agree with Rubber_Dog about Frostfire. The first time you do the mission is probably the first time you see a cut-scene. I remember rattling the keyboard, trying to fire off my powers as Frosty monologued before realising what was going on.

A few months ago my brother and I did Frostfire with a ff/energy defender (an "offender", specced for soloing) and an energy/energy blaster. This is pairing we play mainly for fun and we tend get defeated hard and often.

We stumbled our way through to the final room, each being defeated at least once on the way. As usual, we picked off the spawns in the corners, near the doors, leaving us with just the central group.

Sizing up Frosty and his group, things didn't look for us, especially when you factored in the as yet unsummoned pets.

Since we were playing for "fun" we decided to take all the insps we had remaining and hit Frosty hard and fast. If, as we fully expected, we were both quickly dispatched to hospital then we could come back with a better balanced duo and do things properly.

What followed was absolute chaos. We both went in,all guns blazing, leading with the group knockbacks. All I can clearly recall is a mess of fire, ice and Outcasts seemingly whizzing in all directions. Frosty ended up pinned against the back wall, unable to keep his feet for long enough to cause any serious problems.

When the dust settled we had actually completed the mission. It had not been as easy or well organised as some other our other character'' triumphs against Frostfire but it had certainly been more fun.
