  1. Well this way we will be able to cleanly see the effect of subscription and boosters from subscription and Paragon Market.

This also means that Freedom will escape into the wild whether or not it's ready sooner than later.
  2. I'm wondering if this has something to do with how "bought" items will be tagged in our accounts. It could be that they will convert our account data from having the current one perk code that says these powers and pieces are available from owning say the Magic Booster into individual flags for each aspect. Since this would be a database convert they need the account database to be stable.
  3. I meant in it's own thread, not tacked on to Hyper's.

    Gaming, browsing.

    2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
    ***
As low as possible... Not really sure, but the more expensive it is, the longer I will have to save $$.

    3) Where do you live? This is important as it affects what vendors you may buy from and how much shipping costs might be.
    ***
    Just outside Ottawa, Ontario

    4) Are you planning to buy or build?
    ***
    Buy

    5) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need. If you're unsure what exactly you need, say so.
    ***
Well, since I can't say "everything", I'll go with Unsure.

    6) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
    ***
    None

    7) Will you be overclocking?
    ***
    Err.... no idea.

    8) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
    ***
I have a monitor I can use which is about 12 inches or so.

    9) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
    ***
Whenever I can save enough for it.

    10) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
    ***

    11) Any specific must-have features? Must be able to max out Ultra-Mode? Must have 6+GB of RAM? Must have an SSD? etc.
    ***
Want to be able to max out Ultra without slowing to a crawl. If I can do so at full speed, great.

    12) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to use?
    ***
    Nope

    13) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to avoid?
    ***
    Nope

    14) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? (Note: If your current OS came with your computer, odds are that it is NOT transferable.)
    ***
    Not sure. Probably not

    **Terminology**
So you are in Canada, not building, want a fast gaming system for not a lot of money but you won't say what your budget is.

Yes, but most people never paid much attention in high school physics or chemistry to remember phase change and triple points. Anyways this is Eureka, they routinely mess up the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, etc.

I just wish Alphas wasn't so heavy handed with their handlers. Honestly if they had brain one among them they would have realized that treating a bunch of people who have "powers beyond mortal man" like they were something you found on the bottom of your shoe isn't terribly smart or wise.
  6. Boo!

Fill out Hyperstrike's survey and post it on the tech board.
  7. No but on any software project that you sell, it always boils down to how do you distribute your limited manpower, fixing bugs for your current customers or adding features to attract new ones.

Now marketing is usually pushing for new features to match some competitor's feature list and it comes down to trading off one new feature for a bucket of bug fixes. Also there's foreknowledge that some aspect of the code is going to be altered big time in the next release so why spend the time to fix those for this release.

Then you have the example that Texas Justice gave. When you have limited manpower, as in bodies, but you have a lot of work that must be done by a particular date, to make some fix shipping date, coding can get a bit convoluted. There is probably still code and some aspects of the design that goes all the way back to the beginning of this project. Then as you constantly bolt newer parts onto the original design (the base editor, PVP, user content, the market, global chat, email transfer, combat auras, animated costume parts keyed to powers, capes, not one but two graphic engine upgrades, adding dual core support, cut scenes, ad server, original hardware Ageia PhysX support, etc.), I'm surprised it still runs as well as it does.
  8. Like I said earlier, don't dis Stormbringer.
  9. Personally I think the current increase in server downtime is due to new upgraded server racks and storage arrays being swapped in and then tuned in preparation for the launch of Freedom.

Having an "item mall" significantly increases the number of potentially locked out items and features, they really going to have to avoid the current "store down, no access to available empty slots over 12 for you" that crops up every month or two. It'll be a fatal glitch for a hybrid payment model.
  10. I think I've used Wedge hair on a couple of my female characters. Also used the spike collar on a few as well.

Eureka - Jack and Allison can't get a break. Fargo nearly gets lucky with Holly. And the town nearly goes BOOM, again. Vizzini guest stars and looks to hang around for next week's episode as well.

Warehouse 13 - Myka gets closure. Artie gets owned by a dog and gets to wear a Fez (Fezzes are cool). They now know they've been played by little miss southern blondie. Also, don't ring Pavlov's Bell, it's not pretty.

Alphas - Wow, Summer Glau not being super weird. Nice ability to have. Gary chooses the team over his protective Mom while Bill is considering becoming a father. Nice to see some character growth in a series. Nice avoidance of Cerebro. Lines become fuzzier with every episode. Betting the finale will be the team heading for the hills.
  12. +0 SO - 33.3%
    Lvl 40 single aspect IO - 38.6% ~ +3 SO
    Lvl 50 single aspect IO - 42.4%

So yes you do loose 3.8% but the set bonus aspect doesn't disappear unless you are below Lvl 37 instead of Lvl 47 (standard Purple disclaimer). So bad news/good news.
  13. 1) Great, assuming you did /bug and not /petition. Also kudos for trying to reproduce it, that's important when it comes to debugging.

    2) While in one sense yes as this board's header says "Discuss gameplay / technical issues or bugs here! This is NOT a forum where official technical/QA support is available. For technical assistance email support@coh.com.", it's more of a player resource to give each other a heads up that there is a problem doing X, mission Y has a glitch or new video drive Z is bad than a dev source for harvest bug reports.

More "And don't ride in anything with a Capissen 38 engine, they fall right out of the sky." and less "Ghost slaying axe clips if using zombie hand on huge model".

    3) It's a sad truth that on help message boards or the help channel, not everybody is as equally helpful.
  14. The Daicon IV bunny girl sword surfs on Stormbringer, tough to get geekier than that.

*Daicon is/was a multi genre SciFi/Fantasy/Comic/Wargaming con in Japan. The opening animation for Daicon III and Daicon IV were done by the people who later founded Gainax. The Daicon IV opening animation could be considered to be the first anime music video, music by ELO to original animation that includes references and cameos of hundreds of characters and mecha from SciFi, Fantasy, western comics and manga.
  15. Well it wasn't a good weekend for a R rated film. Lots of college age folk are moving in to their dorms this weekend.
  16. You forgot China as a Warehouse site. Probably during the dark ages in Europe.
  17. Okay, a race of magical wielding bunny girls.

I sort of like the hint mechanic of showing where AoEs are going to land so you can dodge.

Kind of reminds me of PSO more than WoW.
  18. Sounds more like they decided that the 30th of August would be rushing it.
  19. Yes, as I remember the world detail is used for draw distance for buildings and other stationary objects (ultra mode adds shadows and reflected objects that are affected by this setting) besides the haze.

Character detail affects when the switch from high to low poly model is made but doesn't affect the distance that they are drawn at. This is true for NPCs and player characters.

If you crank world detail down to it's minimum, you will notice on some of the indoor maps that you have the ability to spot mobs at a distance that as you approach will suddenly be behind an intervening wall or crate.

If you crank character detail down to it's minimum, you will see the poly models switch while you are in the Freedom Core generic store in Talos.

I believe the reason character drawn distance isn't affected by those settings is for spot NPC threats consistently and later PvP.
  20. I prefer my geek swords to come from literature rather than video games. Nice to see the Swords of the Cross on there.

And don't dis Stormbringer in all it's forms or it'll feed on your soul.
  21. No, I'm with Durakken on this. I watched Episode 20 on Hulu Saturday morning and maybe 60% of subtitled with a number of conversations being subbed one sided.

Now the previous 19 episodes were subtitled well, the 20th was hit or miss.

    Impatience creep

Ah yes, the joys of The Hollows when it was introduced. Almost as fun as running the maze in Perez Park to get to the door only to find a Lost convention going on.

Back when all you had was a subscription, making the game take longer to reach 50 is a good thing for revenue.

With this hybrid F2P income stream, you need to include an income path that doesn't rely on playtime as much as what this game is known for, alts, costumes and a plethora of AT/power set combinations. You want them to catch altitus so they either buy more slots or go subscription. The faster they reach 50, assuming of course their playstyle is one character at a time (since they only start with two slots I can see this being more common), the sooner they roll a new character.

I think the $2 Freedom sale is brilliant because assuming Freedom is launched the 30th, it will give new players a chance to bath in all the benefits of VIP status and then take it away when their month is up. Very drug dealer of them, give them a taste and see if they are willing to pony up for VIP or buy a big points package (which I'm guessing will be very attractive like 2500 for $25 and granting them 2 more reward tokens as well).

    Where's Wall-E?

    90) Haro - from numerous Gundam series
    3) Larry 3000 - Time Squad

    Thundercats 8/19

They had a line or two at the beginning I think.
