  1. Vista and Windows 7 can manage graphics texture memory independently of a game, it's a feature of Dx 10/11. Think of it like a texture swap file in system memory. Now since the HD 4000 also uses system memory it's kind of moot but it's really for discrete cards with games programmed to let Dx handle swapping textures on and off the graphics card instead of whatever homebrew method designed into whatever 3D engine being used. Of course this means the game engine needs to be designed to use this feature on Dx 10/11 systems.
  2. Yea but he's looking for a pre-built. You could put together a nice box at CyberPowerPC or iBUYPOWER for $900-1000. Here are a couple available at NewEgg.

However there may be a few ways to make either cheaper if you order directly from CyberPowerPC or iBUYPOWER. For instance 8GB is plenty and you don't need a 2GB video card.
  3. I think the 300 watt PSU should be fine. The CPU is rated at 45 watts, the GT 430 (the card was designed to be 128-bit with DDR3 memory, the 64-bit cards are manufacturers being "creative") is rated to max at 60 watts according to nVidia. eVGA recommends a minimum PSU of 300 watts.
  4. Don't forget blaming crime comics in the 50s.
  5. I originally used the word epoch but I thought it was still too quick. Also DMV is easily to relate too than an astronomy term.

  6. Dang, that's a whole lot of companions in the last 16 months.

I liked her too but Mrs. Dawkins was a lot more adorable as Romana.
  7. There's additional Praetoria content starting at 20, but you have to leave there first.

On blue side there's 1/2 half of Faultline, Striga, Talos, IP and the Terra Volta. At level 25 Croatoa opens up. Once you get an Ouroboros Portal you get access to a lot of earlier content that you hadn't played at all, being a Praetorian.

From what I gleamed from the trailers, it appears the US if not the world is seriously concerned when Superman first shows up. Who wouldn't be, he's immune to every weapon used against him, he can rip through a building or bank vault, he can fly with no obvious means of propulsion at supersonic speeds, he doesn't need to breath. He represents the ultimate threat if he didn't have the best of intentions. Of course then Zod shows up who doesn't. So you have two "god" class entities fighting for the fate of Earth.

I don't think the world in general will get behind Superman until the end of the movie, after Zod is defeated. But I suspect the powers of the world will still suspect him. Only at that point do you introduce a powerful industrialist like Lex Luthor. Hint about him at the end the way Joker was at the end of Batman Begins.
  9. Let me amend my previous statement.

The Media and the shooter. It's like wearing pointy ears and declaring yourself a Klingon and then the media running with that.
  10. That's due to the reduction/elimination of banging the swap file since the game's actual memory usage is in the 1.5GB range. Any hard drive access is DMV level of slow when compared to CPU and system memory speeds.
  11. Yea, we need "The Machine".

Speaking of Person of Interest, I've always considered that show to be a bifurcated Batman with Mr Reese as the brawn and Mr Finch to be the brains. Also interesting that Jonathan Nolan was the creator.
  12. Which also explains why a lot of the lights seen on Earth are streaks due to the "long" (probably under a minute) exposure time.
  13. The GTX 680 is swatting mosquitoes with tactical nukes when it comes to this game. Personally I like the GTX 670 which is, online, $100 less but only 10% slower. The GTX 680 is also power hungry like all high end cards, but better than the previous high end 5xx series. We are talking 195 watts max. Compared to 20 watts for the HD 5450 or 50 watts for the 9500GT so making sure your power supply can properly feed it is now the question.

Off hand I say we are talking a modern 600 watt power supply with 40+ amps of 12 volt power and two 6+2 PCIe power connectors.
  14. The photos used were taken from here.

Funny, I can see stars in this photo.
  15. It was first reported about four weeks ago. It use to not be a problem and it started a week without a patch in CoH so it's likely Steam's problem.

Since it looks like they are including some origin story I'm guessing a reboot.
  17. The fact there's now a Batman statue in City Hall to honor his "sacrifice" I would assume Robin will become Nightwing than take up the Batman mantle.
  18. Just saw this. Amazed that it's really hand assembled video of thousands of stills. HD it, full screen it and sit back and enjoy the show.
  19. It's a single core CPU which will limit the effectiveness of a video card.

That said just about everything is faster than an integrated nVidia 6150se. A GT 430 (128-bit) would blow the doors off the 6150se. The biggest concern is available power, even the very, very modest GT 430, GT 440/GT 630 (same card) or HD 6570 falls into the 45-50 watt range. Online (NewEgg) we are talking under $70, under $50 with rebate in some cases.

The next level under those cards are generally considered cards used in home theater PCs since they provide hardware decode but aren't really great for gaming. These include the GT 520/GT610 (same card), the HD 5450 or the HD 6450.

It's exactly what's on the box.

Batman tells Gordon no autopilot so everyone thinks he died. He "tells" Gordon who he is so when Bruce Wayne vanishes it confirms it.

He has the "clean slate" device/code that allows him to erase his and Selena's digital footprint in the world. Since Bruce Wayne is officially dead and there is no way to confirm his identity in any database he can recreate himself and Selena.

He intentionally showed himself to Alfred because of those who knew Bruce, he would be the one most in pain due to his "death". Lucius would know once it was revealed the autopilot was fixed. Alfred already told him that he would only acknowledge him with a look. Also notice Selena was wearing the "missing" pearls so yes Bruce did have something set aside for a rainy day or the pearls would be out of place.

Overall I enjoyed the film. It's pace is very much a Nolan pace like in Inception or The Prestige.

I think Anne Hathaway's Selina was great. She really was on equal footing with Batman when it comes to ability and planning.
  21. I don't like normal color hair on Claudia.
  22. It still boils down that the general public is aware of Luthor and Zod and little else so movie studios, over cautious to the point of glaciation, falls back to the the "known" Superman villains. It's just like the Batman sticking with Catwoman, Joker, Riddler and Penguin.
  23. So she's lobbing swords at would be royalty?
