Thanks very much! Doing it once it is hassle enough, so wasn't up for having to repeat every time I respecced.

Simple question which I've found it hard to find an answer for.
If I change my alignment to Villain and do the Patron Arc I unlock the PPP's. But if I then change my alignment back to Hero can I still take PPP powers? Or do I have to stay a Villain to have access to them?
Edit: Argh! Found it right after this, but a confirmation of someone who's done it would be magic. -
Wrench Wench: Even more mindbending than usual Magi-Tech, she's been giving magic a poke for a little while now and the mad scientist in her can't really stop there now.
Emma Sparks: Harnessing the same energy Kheldians do for her lightning in a more permanent fashion. It's a Wrench Wench gadget, so it's a bit risky but she's not all brains.
Wish Bone: Being a Spirit of Adventure, she'll likely have to do something a little ridiculous. Well more ridiculous than usual.
Fanservice Girl: She might go back home only to find a lightning breathing Kaiju monster attacking the city. Both beating and befriending the strange beast, she'll learn how to harness the power within her to shoot lightning out of her face in an 80's training montage. With a giant monster.
Or something. I'm not really sure. -
Quote:I know how you mean man. I often tell people my knowledge of Vintage Car Mechanics makes me a perfect GM, but they're doubtful. "That's ridiculous" they'll say "That's not even relevant to the discussion. Are you high?"As someone who's among the top-ten best paid Visual Designers of Finland, as someone who's been part-time teacher of animation in School of Art and Design, I can tell you I am not out of business. You should be grateful for my advice to you. Flipping out becouse of negative feedback will not help you in your career.
I am of course very high, but that shouldn't make my ideas any less brilliant. -

You can't force parents to take their kids to be vaccinated from Smallpox in the US, (And stupidly, some people avoid vaccinations as they think they're too dangerous) So it'd be hard and it's still breaking the Constitution.
However I think there's a level of knowledge in roleplay where you're okay to mess with the facts a little as it's getting just too in depth to expect people to know it, so I think about there it'd be reasonable to believe they could pull this off. But the plots already self detonated with the Radio Interview as the government would sort it all out with unusual rapidity to protect themselves from the fallout. Of which there'd be some serious fallout.
Which still leaves room for a plot, but it'd be a "Who the hell was stupid enough to think they'd get away with this?" and "What did happen to those kids/doctor/dj's?" plot.
Which I'd be avoiding as I don't really like plots involving kids. But by now it's a personal issue. Still at this point it's lost it's focus on government corruption and become a simple manhunt, which while fun and a perfectly valid plot, isn't what the OP intended. -
To be constructive, ways I could see this plot working.
Change if from kids to military experimentation. It's actually got a veil of secrecy to allow it then and it definitely has happened before.
Or change it to a doctor blowing the whistle on the FDA for letting a flu vaccine go through which is not all they're claiming it to be, it's actually fairly topical right now and a lot more likely to happen as again they've actually done this before by downplaying side effects or covering up the effects of certain meat additives to name a few off the top of my head.
Government Corruption is when they're breaking the law to make money or gain power, not when they're using the laws in place to pass silly laws. That's actually the process working as intended (Bribery aside, but even then, lobbying and campaign donations is a perfectly legal method of bribery.) -
There seems to be a lot of assumption that people don't read laws before they're put into action. There is a lot of scrutiny on laws, in fact passing a law in America is a rediculously long and painful process. Okay, let's break it down.
If this is a Federal law I just don't see how this bill would get through the House, let alone the Senate and the President himself. Considering a cover up at this level is outright impossible, it's clearly not going to work there. At some point one party is going to realise the other who's proposing the bill is committing career suicide and point it out. It's a legal requirement for a bill to be read out in full when both made and when amended and these are discussed publicly so you can even watch the reading on TV (And there's public groups who do just that, documenting it all). You can get copies of all proposed laws by just asking and again, people will. Hiding in a way to experiment on kids is going to be fairly impossible.
State law, again it's just too big. You can't bribe the whole of the Rhode Islands to pass career killing legislature like this through. There's less checks and oversight that Federal law, but not a lot less. Also State law can't contradict Federal Law. Which this does.
So City Wide, is perhaps the one way it could get through. City level politics can be fairly corrupt, but the problem here is that if someone notices they've got this law on the books there's no way they're going to let them uphold it as it goes against both State and Federal law on children. So making it law is really counter-productive.
This is all forgetting the main point, that since this law is against the constitution (It's a loss of personal freedom, as the child has no one to protect them as thier Guardian and is legally unfit to become a Guardian themselves) it's ALWAYS going to be invalid on a Federal, State or City level unless the Constitution itself is amended and that's an even bigger challenge. So they accomplish nothing by creating this law except making a law that isn't in any way enforceable.
Yes politics is corrupt, but it's not silly. Special interests are where the corruption comes in, but it's still got to follow the same process. There's no short cuts and it's not easy to sneak a law onto the books unless it's something seemingly benign. Allowing the seizure of kids for experimentation is so blatantly 'wrong' that there's just no way you could sneak it on there .
For someone who's researched this thoroughly, you haven't really looked much at how a law is made. -
Indescribable Escalation at Brickstown Mall
September 27th
Yesterday Brickstown Mall was rocked by an event of which the scope is still yet unconfirmed. Conflicting report make it difficult to assess what happened but thankfully initial reports detail no casualties, though two women went into early labour. No one villain group has yet to come forward claiming responsibility, but several have stringently denied any involvement.
A spokesperson for the Carnival of Shadows was quoted "Sure we like to have a little fun, but this? Wow" while M3ga-Hurtz, formerly of the Freakshow but now reformed and a frequent correspondent, was unable to stop laughing to give a statement.
"I've never seen so much laser fire in my whole life" the owner of the local Cinnabar confided approvingly in our on the scene reporter "Though the earthquake was a bit much"
"Oh god" said one witness "I can't believe that happened, I'll never look at Pretzels in the same way again"
"Is it over?" one man, struck temprorarily blind by the event was found shouting to the onlooking crowds "Well anything be the same again?"
The Brickstown Mall is currently off limits until they find a way to stop the strange occurrences now plaguing it.
City Officials have issued no statements at the current time, nor any explanation for the arcs of electricity that accompanied the event that were visible for miles around. Five Heroes were apparently questioned by the Police but all have been released without charge.
More on this story as it develops. -

Quote:No he didn't. He was a wanted criminal, he should have turned himself in. He choose not too.But he did so legally, through the proper channels, he didn't just pick the man up and put him on mars. He exposed the crimes that Lex Luthor was committing, and he was impeached, just like any other president would, if they were found to be a massive criminal.
After all, there isn't a law that puts the President above the law. -

Quote:The common thread in all Vigilante missions is they're serving some idea of a 'greater good' and if they have to get their hands dirty or a few others have to suffer to do so then they're absolutely fine with that.I don't see how you can think someone that makes life/death judgments on people's lives based on their own set of morals and values even remotely good.
While of course there's room to argue that this way isn't ideal, both their intentions and thier actions are serving towards doing something Good. Which is what matters.
Plus there's lots of good people in fiction (And real life too no doubt) who make Life and Death Judgements based on their own set of morals and values. Wild West Sheriffs, Nearly every Superhero until the Modern Age and people witness to accidents to name but a few. -
Quote:This is the problem with the alignment system. Something that vague can apply to nearly anyone as everyone's got at least SOME rules they follow.Uhh Lawful doesn't mean you follow the law to the letter, it means you have a set of codes and values you always obey.
I always go to work, does this make me Lawful alignment?
The Joker always creates chaos, does this make him Lawful?
It's silly.
And it's why 4ed stripped it down to Lawful Good (Follows the Law and does good), Good (Does Good, not always within the law), Unaligned (Tries not to step on anyones toes), Evil (Self over others) and Chaotic Evil (Bwahaha!)
It also works a lot better for us as it gives us
Hero: Lawful Good
Vigilante: Good
Rogue: Evil
Villain: Chaotic Evil
Though again, since this is fairly meaningless by this point I'm not even sure why I'm doing it! -
Quote:But even if I had Vigilantes I'd probably make them heroes. I like the Hero Tokens! They get shiny recipes.Yes Wolf that was a great post , in fact a Super post
and yes IC our characters' alignments are invisible, up to the point that the toon become know, and there is some public history of the toons actions, after all we are talking RP toons, most of whom spend much of their RP chatting about their exploits, the CoXverse has news reports, a level 50 vigilante is likely to be renown, and just as their name may be well known, so may their alignment. -
Why? People are allowed to have differing opinions IC. Whole point of it all really.
-
-
That's a bit wishy washy really. If they wanted Order they'd support the system in place rather than going outside of the lines to dispense Vigilante Justice. Yes if the laws were BAD it might be Lawful to oppose them in favour of GOOD laws. But Vigilante's are "There's no Law, there's just me"
When you're following your Conscience over everything else, you're being Chaotic.
Or in short, the Alignment system isn't very good and I feel a bit silly even using it. People just aren't consistent throughout the day, let alone thier lives. You'd think Statesman was lawful, but he illegaly invaded a country to stop a nuclear esculation. Same for Longbow's outlook on life. -
Of course the game can't represent the Third Option. Which is to phone a friend and do BOTH.
-
Quote:Bit off I'd say.Hero: Lawful Good / Lawful Neutral
Vigilante: Neutral Good / Lawful Neutral / True Neutral / Chaotic Good
Rogue: Chaotic Good / Chaotic Neutral / True Neutral
Villain: Lawful Evil / Neutral Evil / Chaotic Evil
*May have been roleplaying D&D far too long....
Villain isn't even close to Lawful Evil as they answer to no one but themselves. They're unreservedly Neutral or Chaotic Evil.
Rogues definetly aren't Chaotic Good they're all self interest. Chaotic Neutral, Neutral Evil or sometimes Lawful Evil. Lawful Evil's hard to do, as they don't obey the law all that much either. But they pretend too on occassion, which can count.
Vigilante's aren't Lawful Neutral. The name gives it away. They're a really good fit for Chaotic Neutral though which you missed.
There's no True Neutrals, they're the ones outside of the System.
So that's....
Hero: Lawful Good / Lawful Neutral
Vigilante: Neutral Good / Chaotic Neutral / Chaotic Good
Rogue: Chaotic Neutral / Neutral Evil / Lawful Evil
Villain: Neutral Evil / Chaotic Evil -
You'd have to ask them, I don't really see the difference.

Quote:You'd be right! I don't know any super heroes in real life who could fly over there (Or vampires for that matter, not even the sparkly kind) It's a bit of a non question, no one I knows has the money to get a flight and go help in any kind of meaningful way. I know plenty of people who donate to relief efforts though, so alturism isn't dead.I'm perfectly happy with people not getting involved in plots and so on, it adds a bit of the real world indifference that plagues society to the RP world, the floods in Pakistan is a true tragedy, but I don't think you know many people who have as soon as the news broke jetted off to Pakistan to help out right?
Quote:Now, whats the difference to running an event that would make for an appalling news story, thus 'forcing' people to react (never done this if you don't want in, because of OOC reasons that's up to you) or instead say writing about how all Longbow are actually jackbooted pro-none powers, neo-terrorists led by an incredibly self righteous and self centered super human, but when some one complains how your editing the group within a shared environment, you can claim that they can just ignore the story, even though they are using it to change the shared world?
Hmm, perhaps I'm still a little wound up over people, I shouldn't derail this thread any further.
Not really sure what you're arguing here I got to admit. Other than that overstepping boundries leads to all kinds of problems, which we get! Believe me we get that and have been trying to point out quite a bit! -
Well I'm not exactly going to hang a flag on Marvel for good writing.
And "I can do what I like and if you don't like it suck it" is a perfectly valid way to Roleplay. I wouldn' recommend it to anyone, but you pay to play the game so you can do it how you like. That doesn't mean everyone has to accept it and call it good stuff though, goodness me no, not even close.
As for me ignoring it, I did say "Personally not my thing, so I'll pass."
Just saying if you don't want people to ignore you, don't do stuff like this. If you do then..hell go nuts I guess. -
Thing is Hank Pym and Ultron aren't much alike at all. Ultron has confidence for example. Hank Pym kind of sucked at making Ultron a copy of him, which is no surprise if you know Hank Pym.
Lot of people didn't want to be involved with the plot. If you'd kept it to the thread it's likely no one would have complained either but you brought it out into the shared threads and then people who didn't volunteer for it suddenly find they've had this massive tragedy dropped into thier laps. Personally not my thing, so I'll pass.
