  1. Why on earth would he need 12 -KB points? I do just fine with 4, barely ever got KBed. Unless something has dramatically changed in the past 6 months I would go with 4 points, 8 if you want peace of mind.

  4. Just by looking at it, it does look a bit messy For instance, you absolutely do not need 8 points of KB protection. And that RI slotting is weird considering you seem to have the money to afford expensive purple sets. Lingering Rad should be slotted for accuracy and recharge, not slows (it's your -regen power, for Positron's sake).

I'm at work atm, but I'll try and get a build together. Not a godly one, but it certainly will be enough for your needs.

Heavy on the end use, but very powerful with some extra recharge.

I think there may be a fire/storm troller in my future. I also have a fire/storm corruptor, which is a nice choice for dealing aoe dmg with some chaos on the side

    Good luck with your decision!
Thanks for the suggestions, EJI. I do have an Ill/Storm at 50 - good chaotic fun. I also have a Fire/Storm around L40 which should be a complete beast with IOs.

As for corruptors, I never got into them. I prefer Defenders. There's something about that blue shield icon, you know.

I'll be giving both Storm/Energy and Storm/Ice a shot and see which one suits me better.
  6. I've joined a couple channels - Virtue TFs 2010 and Virtue LFG Beta.

Not sure if those are the major channels, but it has plenty of users

FA crossed my mind although I hate the graphics. MA/FA could be fun.

  8. Well it is a game. You can do whatever u fancy

I, for one, don't think I have over 2 bil in all my characters together. I fail to see where or how did you manage to get 100 bil.

    I'm impressed, son. Truely.
  9. It's actually easy to come up with a character name. The hard part is giving it sense or originality.

For instance, I've lost count on how many Cat based toons I've came across. And roughly 90% are some sort of Claws toons. And not so long ago, most of them were Claws/SR. It makes sense, but lacks originality because it is so common. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, kitten lovers. Withdraw your claws!

I also don't necessarily agree that you need to come up with the powerset combo first in order to come up with a bio or name. Actually I find that the toons I enjoy the most were created based on a Bio/name not on a powerset. Heck, I used to hate Storm until I came up with a few names such as Four Winds (taken on Virtue server, unfortunately) and Cap'n Stormbringer. Now it's probably my favorite set and the toons I enjoy the most.

I couldn't point one specific source from where I get the names and bios. Books, movies, everyday expressions, music lyrics, band names, wikipedia, etc etc.
  10. Hi, Virtue!

Some of you might have read my post a few days ago. I've decided to change to an US server and thought Virtue would be the best option.

So far I think it was. Over the weekend I've played around 7 TFs and one Trial, along with a bunch of tip and radio teams. I can't remember the last time I've played this much on Defiant. Especially considering I play mostly in the morning (which would be around 4-8AM in your country) - still a lot of people online.

So, I'll just introduce myself to you lot. My name is Hugo, I'm from Portugal and I've played on and off since Beta. CoX is my fave game, hands down.

My toons on virtue so far are:

Glaciologist - An Illusion/Cold controller. Science Origin.
Columna - Spines/Regen scrapper. Mutant Origin.

And soon enough I'll roll a Storm defender. Just need to figure a name, since the one I use on Defiant was taken.

If it's not asking too much, I'm looking for active SGs. If it somehow fits my toon's theme, the merrier. Granted, I don't play much, only some evenings and weekends. But when I'm on I like to team up.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for those who replied on my other thread. It helped me decide, even though I felt Virtue would be the right choice

    Ty,

    Falsey
  11. Hello.

My only 2 L50 scrappers are both DB and Spines. Although I do enjoy playing with them, not of those actually makes me giggle when it comes to ST damage (the AoE is quite decent though).

I know this much: I will want a War Mace Scrapper as soon as they release it. Just the thought of it makes me drool a bit. However, that is still a couple months away and my altitis needs to be fed until then.

Now, I would like to avoid FoTM builds (ie: Fire/SD or DM/SD). Actually, I'd prefer leaving SD to when WM comes out. I'm sure FoTM builds are fun, but I'd prefer something less common.

    So, TLDR;

    - Falsey needs a new scrapper, after taking a Spines and DB to 50.
    - Falsey would like to stay away from /SD
    - Falsey wants big ST orange numbers, although having at least one PbAoE would be nice

A few combos come to mind, obviously. However, I'd appreciate suggestions based on your own experiences. I want a fun Scrapper from L1 to L50.

    Ty muchly,

    Falsey
  12. I've started a Spines/Regen yesterday - I'm happy to share a build when I come up with one.
  13. Off topic: It's OK to use paragraph breaks.

    On topic again,

    * Snow Storm + Freezing Rain alone (without any sort of slow enhancements) will hit the slow cap on non-purple level baddies. But by all means add in Ice Storm - it's a great fun combo.

    * While leveling up, I'd focus on recharge and endred on FR. Even on late levels, slotting with DefDebuff is not a must.

    * You don't necessarily have to make a Tanker's life miserable by knowcking things back all the time. Try and master your "Hurricane brushing" so you can still debuff the foes without repeling/kbing much. As for Tornado, well, I only unleash it in specific situations (presence of a controller/domi with AoE immob with -kb; AV/GM fights; and when situations get a bit out of hand - chaos can help sometimes).

You should be able to find decent builds around. You just need to figure out your playstyle first and decide which kind of bonus will you be betting on. +Rech is always a good thing for a stormie. So is endrec. Some Ranged defense is also handy, although I tend to advise against cap'ing it on a stormy.

There are also a few guides/threads with power descriptions and useage. Sail around through the Defender's thread, it should be easy to find.
  14. I'll just step forward and say it: please, do not overlook Howling Twilight. Max its recharge and use it everytime it's up. It is so much more than a rez power:

    * Mag 2 stun
    * Recharge debuff (50%)
    * Slow
    * -500% Regen
    * And I could be wrong but it also has a fear component

So, by all means max its recharge. Also, when paired with Dark Pit you can stun everything short of an EB.

PS: Did I mention it is auto-hit?

Is there a main sort of community channel on Virtue?

Yea, guess I'll just try one or two servers and then go with the one that feels right.

Is there a event public channel @Guardian? A channel for sorting TFs and such.
  19. Hello.

I'm a returning player from Defiant. The server list merge allows me to create/tranfer some toons to more active servers and... well, obviously US servers are the way to go.

Now the only question is which server should I join. Virtue, Guardian and Freedom are the ones I'm considering. Freedom however, doesn't appeal me as much - the only reason I'm considering it is because a few buds are now playing there.

So, why should I pick Virtue server over the other two? It might help if I tell you a little bit about me.

    - I do enjoy RP. I wouldn't however play solely as a RPer.
    - I play mostly at weekends and evenings (note that I'm from Portugal, so my time is GMT+1).
    - I like TFs. Lots of them.
    - I tend to organize/join events such as all defender teams, all illusion teams, 1-of-each-AT teams and so on. This might be my fave times in CoX these days.
    - Altough I never spend inf on a PvP toon/build, it would be nice to enter a PvP zone and actually see some enemies around.
    - I like to get replies from my tells :P

And well, I tend to play 99% on blue side. It shouldn't matter much with GR though.

Hehe. Well, as long as it is a fairly populated server, I don't see why not
  21. Well, I'm currently considering expanding my character list to an US server since sometimes Defiant is just dead quiet. Just need to decide which one, really.

I'll gladly run this event there once I make up my mind :-)
  22. Here's a few thoughts, based on my own xp.

    Radiation:
(+) Pretty straight forward and easy to use.
(+) You'll have all your keypowers by L20.
(+) AM is a beauty and is available at L4. Good recharge, damage and endrec buff.
(+) Since two of your main debuffs are toggles, Hasten won't be missed *much*.
(+) Your -regen power has shorter recharge than the Cold equivalent. Plus, you'll have AM to help. Also, rad's -regen power is AoE.
    (+) Decent PbAoE heal.
(+) I find them easy to IO up. Having AM is a blessing since it makes it easy to perma both AM and Hasten. That covers the +recharge bit. Then you can focus on other handy bonuses such as +def, +dmg, +hp, +endrec.

(+/-) Some might say it's a good thing not having to shield other players. With the recent changes to shields/sb, I wouldn't say this is a valid point anymore.

(-) Toggle dependent. You'll often see your anchor get killed before whole mess is cleaned up. Yes, you can recast it quickly but it's still counter productive.
(-) Not as great for steamrolling because of the toggles. Mind you, I'm comparing the sets. By no means I'm saying /rad isn't good - it really is.

Cold - I should leave this part to someone more experienced with it, but still I'll share my thoughts.

(+) Arguably, the best debuffing set with some team goods. I tend to disagree, but it is very good nevertheless.
(+) You can achieve massive -resistance numbers (60%!) from the combo Sleet+Heat Loss. However, due to HL high recharge, your main AoE debuffer will be Sleet.
(+) Easy to floor a single enemy's defense with Infrigidate + Sleet.
(+) Shields + Arctic Fog. Are good defensive powers. Good mix of +res and +def. Along with stealth, ofc.
(+) Since your debuffs are click powers (except for Snow Storm), Cold could be best for speedy teams. Target your enemy(ies), click the debuffs and kill stuff.
(+) Cold is often considered more team friendly. Mainly because of shields and Heat Loss. Those two powers are indeed very handy.

(-) Hasten really helps this set to shine since the debuffs are click powers, so every little +rech would help. However, I'm by no means saying it's critical to have it. It's just very handy. Cold is perfectly good without it. Plus, IOs and Incarnates can help out with the recharge anyway.
(-) Cold is a tricky set to IO up. Not that it is hard. After playing it to 50, you'll come to realize how great +recharge is and it might be hard to think of any other main bonuses other than +rech. Imo +rech is the way to go on a cold toon.
(-) A lot of your debuffs (Infrigidate, Benumb and Heat Loss) are click powers with accuracy check. Granted, if you use Sleet before any of those, it should make things easier to hit. I'm just saying there is the possibility of missing.
(-) Sleet and Heat Loss are only available at L35 and L38. This makes /Rad a more friendly option for the ride to the late levels.
  23. This might be a no-go unless I can persuade people ingame to join. I'll be on on Friday evening and Saturday most day to try and fill the team.

    Stay put.
  24. Storm+Dark please. Or TA+Traps.
  25. False_Fiction

    Elec/Earth

I'd say Hasten+SS+CJ since you have a bunch of PbAoEs and being in melee range will be a big part of your gameplay. If you want flight, take flight. You will have to detoggle it to use powers such as Tremor and Fissure though.

As for patrons, I find them all useful. However, Scorpion Shield is usually the best choice for easy defense cap while still mantaining high recharge for permadom.
