I need *yet* another Stormy
I wonder if Beam Rifle won't be a very interesting set to pair with Storm. Storm lacks -Regen but dishes huge damage to AVs via Tornado. Beam Rifle contains -Regen. I'm not sure if it's enough to make a huge difference yet. Beam Rifle is also generally not a huge AoE damage set, which Storm makes up for. And I believe it also has a Stun which can stack with Thunderclap.
If you like rain powers*, Storm/Ice would be fun. Just remember to bring a parka!
* And who doesn't???

At the risk of extreme off-topic-ness:
Fire/Storm corr.
The scourging goodness of fire, oh my.
Bots/Storm MM.
Happiness is Assault Bot burn patches + freezing rain.
Ninja/Storm MM
Ninjas are known as extremely damaging but extremely squishy. If you're really really good with storm, you'll be able to keep those squishy ninjas alive and enjoy the extreme damage. Plus, the ninja animations are utterly badass.
For defenders, Storm/sonic since you can stack -res which helps Tornado and LS do even more damage. Storm/ice for the AoEs, Storm/fire if you can hold off until Freedom.
For corrs, Ice/storm and Fire/storm for all the reasons you would with a defender, but you get scourge as well and rain powers love scourge.
For controllers, Ice/storm for the theme. Fire/storm can be a beast only matched by Fire/kin, or Fire/cold. Plant/storm because it was one of the funnest trips to 50 I have done. Earth/storm. It has more control at 18 than a number of builds will get at 50. Of the 100+ characters I have rolled, it's only one that had teammates chant it's name. I still think it's the most fun to 50 I had even if others are really close.
EDIT: Add in Grav/storm and Ill/storm for more chaos based controllers.
Storm, like Kinetics, seems to be one of those powersets that functions very well as a secondary. Masterminds fall a little behind, but Corruptors and Controllers can both easily floor opponents' to-hit. I probably wouldn't roll a Storm Defender, given the difference between Defender secondaries and Corruptor, Controller or Mastermind primaries.
I think I need to add either a Fire/Storm or Ice/Storm Corruptor to my "need to make right now!" list...
Storm/Dual Pistols
I've started one, and I'm playing my Defender as if she were a Blaster (which is a lot of fun at low levels).
I have a Storm/Dark as well, and I know your feeling exactly.
I also have a Fire/Storm Corruptor and have had a Storm/Sonic Defender (got up to like 42ish, my 2nd highest level character deleted). I have also had multiple of other builds too, Earth/Storm Controller and Storm/Ice Defender for example. Storm was my major thing for a long time due to my Storm/Dark. My Storm/Dark would also probably be considered my "main" for most purposes, though I do spread the love a lot.

Guess I'll roll a few stormies and see how it goes.

With incarnates, I did something even more awesome for Storm/Dark (debatable on Reactive still, with the dots and all). Dia Interface with your blasts set for damage, you're doing a ton of -to-hit. With your cones, you're trashing the entire mob's to-hit! I mean, 9% to-hit debuff upfront, with 20% more waiting in the wings, with Steamy Mist and any other defense powers you have. Not much can touch you after -38% to-hit debuff with Nightfall + Tentacles once when you automatically get a +5% defense base power of Steamy Mist.
Just something to toss out there.
Incarnate wise, I went Spiritual, Dia, Void (theme reasons, though if you go debuff route, -50% dmg is pretty nice), Warwalks support side (for the mez protection support drone thingy), and Ageless (to get even better recharge, and to solve all my endurance problems at 50). Though when I look at 200% or better recharge, I wish the old LS was still here. I'd love to see it just go to town on AVs.

I rolled a Storm/AR not too long ago and am currently at level 21. While it will take a while to bloom, if you like to herdcane it has the potential to dish out massive damage. Herdcane things into a corner and igniting them just has too much fun factor for me.
The thing is that it has to wait until patron pools AoE immob for truly effective solo herdcaning, but once there...

Storm has a PBAoE stun (Thunder Clap). It's a ranged, Targeted AoE stun that /Dark has (Dark Pit).

I suggest Storm/DP myself. It has a nice cone, empty clips; a targetted AoE in Bullet Rain, and yet a third targetted AoE aka mini-nuke (crashless, to boot). All the AoE play well into the grouping skills of storm. Swap ammo has a lot of utility: -def for skyraiders and nemesis; cryo rounds for flame blasters such as CoT; and chem rounds for damage debuff on tough spawns; and good old incendiery rounds for extra damage.

I did try a DP/Storm corruptor which on paper could be quite interesting. However, I lost interest in DP quite quickly.
I guess my options would be: Ice, Psy, Rad or Sonic. The upcoming /Fire could be interesting but then again I've never enjoyed fire blast.

Ice Blast has good synergy, due to the massive amounts of damage. Its mitigation of -recharge is kinda already built into Storm.
Psi Blast, same redundancy, just less damage. Though I do *love* Psionic Tornado. It probably has less synergy, but good for those AVs that decide to pop a T9.
Rad is okay. Place Heel procs everywhere, and then I start thinking more of the set. From a debuff standpoint, you already have probably more -defense than you already need between Tornado and FR. I personally dislike Rad, but that's just my preference.
Sonic has good synergy because you can get some crazy -resistance numbers. Personally, I dislike Sonic due to its lack of AoE, but that's typically how I easily justify using my blasts. I just did -30 damage to like 10 enemies. That's 300 damage! However, the only AoEs you get are A) you nuke. B) a low damage sleep cone. C) a moderate damage knockback cone. and D) a moderate damage -resistance cone. Since Sonic is all about -resistance, I really only see D as an AoE option when I had my Storm/Sonic up to level 42ish. However, I've been playing a concept character with the Sleep and -Resist one, and she's a bit more enjoyable. Then again, she's also a Corruptor.

If you're not stuck on a defender, Illusion/Storm is all kinds of fun. Comparable hard control to your storm/dark, maximum available messiness. Lots of pets, and phantasm is not the smartest fellow. 'Controlled chaos' is the best way to describe its playstyle. Some skippable powers mean you can dip into the power pools a bit. Heavy on the end use, but very powerful with some extra recharge.
I think there may be a fire/storm troller in my future. I also have a fire/storm corruptor, which is a nice choice for dealing aoe dmg with some chaos on the side
Good luck with your decision!

As for corruptors, I never got into them. I prefer Defenders. There's something about that blue shield icon, you know.
I'll be giving both Storm/Energy and Storm/Ice a shot and see which one suits me better.

Ola.
So, I've played the Storm set exhaustively (roughly 500 levels), most of them on controller side. Turns out my defender (Storm/Dark) is probably in my top3 favorite toons (maybe even nr1).
With the server list merge, I felt like experimenting the US servers - even though it always feels odd to play in a server other than Defiant.
The problem is that my Storm/Dark is a beast and it will probably make me look down on the other secondaries. Being able to PbAoE stun and immobilize the baddies is something I've learned to love, along with all the storm debuffing goodness.
I could roll another Storm/Dark (and if someone (or myself) doesn't convince me otherwise, I probably will), but it would be a shame not to give other combos a try.
So, please do share you experiences, builds and ideas. I'd greatly appreciate it.
