Had an thought or two about the cyber-assassin idea. Thoughts?
  2. On test I have a char with two rapiers. When it hits live I would love to accompany your DB 50 journey Shannon.

    Edit: Added clicky link
  3. I was there that night with Hand of Battle when Loup sparred with the other SG member. It was well played and thoroughly enjoyable, even though my char had to step in when blood had been spilled in the base Dojo, which was sacred ground and a major no-no. But that was only her acting according to her status in the group. She was secretly anjoying the display of differing skill styles.

As for the Anime-play, I too am getting pretty tired of this cutesie nonsense. I stopped playing the Other Game after two weeks, because it was nothing but cute all the time. Plus, I'm not overly fond of roleplaying with ditsie little cat-girls trying to get same-sex cyber out of other players.

I find myself now screaming out in silent frustration to find some decent roleplay, so the next time I see you Nether, I definately want to get some roleplay done.
  4. I tend to scrapperlock on teams with more than one other scrapper. The fights are over fast enough not to worry about downtime.

Now that I11 is on test, has anyone come up with anything more about this idea?
  6. When (and this happened earlier today with myself and an SG friend of mine) you can stand around typing roleplay chatter into your SG channel while under fire from five Crey tanks, all at +2 to your level (us; lvl 46) and not getting hurt to below 75% or so of HP.
  7. Also on this section there's a Roleplaying supergroup list, a post or two above this thread. Its a good place to start looking to see what's out there, and pick your poison.

What Mumsie said above is highly valid too.

    Welcome to the forums.
  8. The entire premise of "arresting" criminals in this game doe seem slightly to be stretching reality, but for my broadsword char the solution I used to have was that she would use any means necessary to bring the foe down, then tag them and let them ddecide to go to the Zig hospital or not. If they died after being given that choice, then it wasn't on her shoulders.

As she stands now, she still uses her sword with full force against any criminal, but doesn't kill them anymore. After all, it's surprising what you can live through.
  9. Re: The Militia, many apologies. I am a victim of the old IC reputation. Information updated and assimilated.
  10. Luckily for me, I type at the speed of blur. Although as I stated in the original post, use some combination thereof
  11. Awesome (as in inspiring awe) ... simply awesome... Did I mention I love you and want to breed? *links to this page via his SG forum*
  12. For several weeks or more now I have been practising with a neat trick I discovered one night, that of combining the $$ command with roleplayed emotes. This simple pair of symbols will unlock a greater depth (in my humble opinion) to your roleplay, enabling many interesting combinations. I shall explain.

Let's say you want to say something in-character to someone and have your char laugh while doing so. All you need to do is put the emote command right into the sentense and combine the text with it. The seemingly standard method of doing this is:

"Oh come on! You really expect me to believe that? *laughs*"

which to me just seems wrong. However if you type it out using the formula "<your text here>$$e <non-emotable action>$$e <emote>" (or some combination thereof) it turns into this:

"Oh come ON! You really expect me to believe that?$$e throws their head back and laughs$$e laugh"

This will make your character say the conversational text in the current channel, emote that they are laughing, and also perform the /e laugh emote. For me, this makes the entire experience of roleplay much more flavoursome, especially if you try different combinations using the $$ command i.e.:

"/e stretches and yawns$$l I need to get going, got some sleeping to do"

"/e wrinkles their nose in disgust$$e goaway$$l Yeugh.. get out of here, you stink!"

"/e hiccups$$e wounded$$l Doesh anyone thinksh I've had chew mush to jrink?"

If you're imaginative, you can come up with other combinations of commands, that would work for a psychic telling local listeners one thing, and then giving another person different IC information via psychic signal:

"Those people you sent me to talk to weren't there, are you certain you gave me the right information?$$t <charname>, ::They were there actually, and attacked me. I had to arrest them all, but thought I'd best be discreet since they're friends of yours::"

If you wanted to send something over both local and SG chatter (radio nerwork) at the same time, then do this:

"Hey! Why are you taking me into that Council Base?1$$sg Hey! Why are you taking me into that CounccilBase?!"

Starting to get the picture? With some imagination, the use of the $$ command prompt can lend a useful twist to any otherwise ordinary roleplaying experience.

Try it for yourself, and see how it works for you.

Sounnds like a good idea to me.

I have one char already with a fairly futuristic look, accomplished (because I don't have screenies) by using Full Mask head: Full Mask, with Double monocles Detail 1, Tight top with Flak Armour, Stealth chest detail and belt, heavy leather gloves, patent leather bottoms and Smooth Combat Boots. All coloured a dark blue colour, (farthest left, two lines up from the first purple for primary and secondary).

I would also like to see what the Orobouros operatives look like for inspiration.
  17. ((This is the summary of an event I ran for my Supergroup The New Heroes, plus a few mentionable names thrown in. Everything went off perfectly, and many thanks go out to everyone mentioned, plus the rest of the players who joined the fun, and of course also to everyone who helped bring it to its climax. Anyway, without further ado...))

    “Missing In Action.”

Almost a week ago on the 14th of October 2007 the New Heroes Union member Jane Doe A.K.A ‘The Hand of Battle’ was reported missing whilst on active duty in the Rikti War Zone. Initially there was some confusion as to the perpetrators, but after careful investigation by fellow New Heroes it was determined that Arachnos forces were to blame. A frantic search of a nearby Council base revealed this to be the case, and their CCTV recordings coupled with meteorological satellite radar footage showing an Arachnos flyer leaving the area further cemented this fact. Investigations at the scene revealed a broken communicator and a damaged Malta Sapper rifle among the bodies of four dead Arachnos troopers. The communicator belonging to Jane had, earlier that evening, sent a crackling radio transmission into the New Heroes’ radio network, and a single name shone out of the babble: Aeon.

Armed with this knowledge the New Heroes began searching several Arachnos bases, notably those in Siren’s Call and Faultline in Paragon City, and hijacking a flyer to search one in Cap Au Diable in the Rogue Isles. Having interrogated dozens of Arachnos troops and senior staff without much success, searches of the Arachnos computer network revealed two files of information. One; a detailed account of The Hand of Battles’ activities against Arachnos personnel, the other; a coded research file detailing some information of Dr. Aeons’ work regarding time travel, and experiments with androids. During these raids, a lone Night Widow, one of the fanatic assassins of Arachnos, was captured alive and returned to the New Heroes’ base for questioning. She revealed that Dr. Aeon had been tapping Paragon City’s power supply and combining it with that generated by the strange energy beings within the Cap Au Diable Power Transfer System, in order to power a time portal generator somewhere in Peregrine Island. However, it was further determined that he also had one in Warburg, meaning three in total.

During the main investigations, several New Heroes struck out alone to try and find anything they could regarding Jane’s disappearance. Notable among them are Verto, a human mutant with an unknown history, Hvy Metal Hero; a rock star turned hero, and Foraois Gadai; a mutant swordsman from Japan. Hvy Metal Hero had been searching somewhere in Cap Au Diable but was caught and transported through time to Dr. Aeons’ laboratory. It is still unknown if anything was done to Hvy, although during his imprisonment he was forced to watch as unknown grisly experiments were performed upon the woman he loves.

Matters came to a head on the nineteenth when a mysterious message left on the New Heroes’ answering machine gave a cryptic riddle, which hinted towards a location in the island of Warburg, a nest of rogue Arachnos agents and hideous mutated creatures, half man and half spider. After days of searching for clues, this message caused a flurry of activity as the New Heroes Union charged into Warburg to rescue their lost members. Before they arrived, both The Hand of Battle and Hvy Metal Hero materialised on top of a large statue of a globe. Hvy was dazed and confused, but Hand was reassuring and expressed her feelings of love towards him, speaking of their futures together. But this all turned out to be an elaborate ruse, for when the New Heroes arrived to rescue them both, they were attacked by members of a Villainous criminal organisation known as The Corporation, mercenaries hired by an unknown benefactor to attack the New Heroes Union members while they tried to mount the rescue.

The battle was hard fought, but eventually both sides withdrew and regrouped. During the initial phases, The Hand of Battle turned on the New Heroes, who in their confusion fought back. Hvy Metal Hero had joined with Hand through his love, but soon realised that Jane needed to be brought down. At a crucial point during the fight the Hand of Battle was defeated, but as she fell her skin was shredded away revealing the true horror of what had happened. She was now an android.

The Hand of Battle then fled the scene and was about to board the helicopter back to Paragon City when she was stopped by Hvy Metal Hero. Emotional words were exchanged, but Jane attacked Hvy, saying that if he refused to help her in her mission, then he must die. The two then fought each other while the rest of the regrouped rescue party looked on, all the while Hand of Battle was stating her mission to destroy Paragon City must not fail. Ultimately, the Hand of Battle was defeated, and was returned, heavily damaged to the New Heroes’ base by a heartbroken Hvy Metal Hero.

Back in the medical bay, the broken remains of the android Jane were laid out in a heap, and the New Heroes set to work to both figure out what had happened and how they could put her back together. As the debate raged, the heroine Mission Control gently let her mind wash over the ruin that was once her friend, but was jolted by flash after flash of images of torture. Amy then tried to communicate with her friend Jane, and with the aid of Psi-Ren, another psychic, was able to piece together an elaborate puzzle representing Jane’s fractured psyche. During this psychic healing, the New Heroes identified that the android was running on a form of self-sustaining energy, and were then able to sustain the androids’ power supply by splicing in the natural bioelectricity supplied by the heroine Gun Bunny, a feat aided by the assistance of Nick Cadmium, Captain All your Base, and the former Militia member Wild Child.

It was during this reconstruction that another discussion regarding the mission to destroy Paragon city, as stated by the Hand of Battle, was held amid fears of whether the android would wake up and try to carry it out anew. Fortunately, with all manner of safeguards and precautions, along with the reformed mind of Jane herself, the programming of the android was overcome, and with the help of the constant bio-electricity being bled into it, the androids’ chassis was able to self-repair in spectacular fashion.

Jane Doe is still coming to terms with her new form, but still the quest continues to find out where Aeon is hiding, where the body of the Hand of Battle is being held, and if it’s still in one piece, whether or not the mind and soul of Jane Doe can be put back into its natural form. As for Foraois Gadai, he has only recently completed his investigations having spent days in the field alone, searching for his lost comrade. It remains to be seen how he reacts to the news, and to Jane’s new form…

  18. Dual dragon daggers/wp for my due-to-be-rerolled corruptor, Cammie Flage. The two knives fit better with her original concept, that of a ganger from the Isles.
  19. Screenshots and chatlogs for images and text, but timing things will be the hardest one to verify I think.

I'm interested in this, but which server would it be run on?

As for theme, since there are Japanese weapons, how about a Fuedal Japan theme? I think some of us have the Samurai armour, and it's possible to make Yojimbo's and the like, plus Ninja's (Dishonourable scum that they are), standard Bushi, and any combination therein.

Or another option is to have a team of Blademasters, all armed with longswords, rapiers, and rapier/main gauche combinations. We could try and get a look of swordsmen/women from the Renaissence period of Europe circa 1600's using baggy shirts, tights (tight-tights for men), hats (no feathers? WHY?!), and the sleeveless military formal jacket looks like a good jerkin.

OR, we could go for an ultra high-tech cyber-assassin squad, armed with personal choices of weapons and clothed in tight-fitting, hard-wearing futuristic body-armour and/or leather catsuits.

I'll have some more thought and see what I can come up with, and maybe post some pictures when I get time.

  24. When you can last longer without MoG than with it.

When the team is watering faceplants and start cheering you on while you mop up the mob you started on plus the other two that got aggroed by mistake.

When you have one hitpoint left, your team says to run and rest, and you stick it out and still don't faceplant.

When you realise that when the dust settles, you'd not have lasted half as long against that AV without your team beside you.
