    energy aura

What are the strengths of having energy aura and the weakness that is usually found with energy aura. Never made one yet and might be about time to.
  2. I remember when 40 was top level for villians.

I remember the time before IOs and market.

I remember the time you could throw a rock and probably come across a fire/kin or /regen scrap anytime of the day or night.

I remember hero epic builds being one shotted by voids.

I remember when the toon stats you had in pve wad the stats you have in pvp.

I remember every night was fight night in Bloody bay on victory server.
  3. electric armor can be a tight build yet it leaves many options. For example if you really want to take all the armor or primary powers you can basically skip the "normally taken" Fitness pool. You have an Auto +run speed power in the set. You have one that basically refill your end power from about nil to full with a few mob in the range. That leaves three power slot extra.

me personally I took grounded. 90% of the time, you aint jumping around mob and not many people bunny rabbit while fighting in pve. PVP is another story. Only times I really get knockedback with grounded is the odd time I am jumping and something gets me or every now and then when I use lightning rod. The programming counts that as in the air for a split second and if ya get hit with a knockback power while activating it, you will just about murder everything and end up on your back. It looks like you flopped in on the lightning instead of riding it. Me personally I dotn mind that as it looks hilarious when that happens.

power surge, is one of those power like anythign that cause massive crash. some people skip it some people dont. It depends on how often when ya use it. If you team 90% of the time, you probably will ever rarely use it. Solo, you might come across a boss where you need the extra s/l (brute wise) Tank wise, it's even more skippable as if you take tough it closes that s/l restaance and is pretty not far from the cap but if you need that extra 20% or so...power surge will get you there. keep in mind power surge is the only toxic restancei nthe set and if ya goign against something like high level arachnos with toxic spider bosses solo, you might find it handy unly you zap it's end first which happens and find yourself not needing to pop gremlin mode.

I cant speak on the stone melee as I never tried it yet but I heard it's end heavy but with electic armor it wont matter and should go well together.

I think it's important to realize that if the devs did add a "purple store," it only means that they are adding a different way to get purples. It doesn't mean that the devs agree that there is a problem with the supply or the price of purples. Presumably any store is going to have mechanics attached to ensure that these rare items stay rare.
Nah, never crossed my minds as the devs agreeing there is a problem with the price of purps. But this may be a step big step little step half step but step none the less by giving players another opportunity outside the market. Might help with prices, hell it might now. But if they dont like the price they see, the market aitn the only source for certain items.

as I mentioned earlier, it's just a wait and see now just as there are people waiting and seeing if GR bring PvP back with it and etc.

In other words, it represents the tiny shred of reality that still remains in the game. If you look at real fights conducted by real people, you will realize that:
    • Something like 90% or more of bullets fired by cops miss their targets -- even more so in war where most machine gun fire is suppressive: they shoot millions of rounds resulting in only thousands of casualties. And most of the casualties are not from gunfire these days.
    • Most attacks in (evenly matched) fencing matches are parried or dodged.
    • Most punches and kicks in (evenly matched) martial arts contests are dodged or parried.

In blood sports like boxing they tend to get a higher percentage of hits in (mostly body blows that the fighters seem to ignore), but there's still a lot of ducking and weaving. This style of fighting seems to have been developed to heap punishment on the participants. If the boxers weren't getting hit the fans would be disappointed.

My guess is that when players feel that they're missing a lot it's not really due to the forced 5% chance, but because their accuracy is debuffed or their targets have extra high defense. You should monitor your last hit chance in the combat attributes monitor, as well as your to-hit bonus. It's very informative. The latter stat turns red when you're debuffed, so it's very easy to notice.

That can help you know when you should pop a yellow, or back out if your to-hit is getting hammered by things like Darkest Night from Nerva demons.

it is bit annoying to see constanst 95% and a 93% here and there chance to hit and miss four times in a row while the the mob have 5% chance to hit but constantly roll low anyways. Seen this happen more than a few time for it to be an anomaly especially wit hthe critter's low rolls. hell, when a player get below 60% to hit, good luck and welcome to whiff city. somethign strange going on there.

Incidentally, I think it'd be cool if *everyone* got critical hits (Stalkers, Scrappers, Corruptors, Controllers and VEATs just have another avenue of crits). Maybe even a *critical* critical hit...kind of like how Stalkers have a small chance of double AS, maybe a small chance to deliver a Deathblow despite enemy HP remaining.
that would be funny a bit but not many people share my morbid sense of humor and probably would spaz out if someone missed and healed the enemy instead or blew the team up. very interesting idea imo. That would be nice to see.

    Demons vs Thugs

I notice that my thugs kill lot faster than my demons too over all for most part but neither one is a slouch. I think it might have to do with one demon being a dual role as attacker and healer. When they healing they aitn attacking compared to thugs who all just attack and attack. Plus the brute of the thug groups do some nice SS damage.

As far as survivalbilty it's hard to say between the two as far as raw survival. My thug MM is FF and my demon MM is therm (built it at the beginning on test where I didnt think anyone would be crazy enough to play with therm and instad would opt for dark miasma or pain). Of course demons have reistance and with the bubbles, the thugs rotate from above to near the soft cap depending on how many stay near th enforcers. I thin their suvival abilty is about the same over all.
  8. Tie between the Earth/fire dom and the elctric/electric brute redside.
Hero side, hmmmmm well the most enjoyable toon played was the MA/scrapper and the DB/WP tank.

All of them was fun solo and good on teams.
  9. I already explained which what I thought was wrong in the earlier post of this topic. But my cap suggested was around 100million or 200 million. Someone else suggested 100k, which I hope was a typo maybe so maybe not.

I thought my position clearly through long time. Been observing the market closely, learned how to use it, see what really shakes and moves it, see what happens if one player decides to use his/her infamy to buy out a particular item and low price and artifically control demand by releasing one or two at time during high bid times set at double price or triple price. Then I made my suggestion and my idea.

It seems, on paper, some sort of fix might be in works in i18 or GR. gotta just wait and see. Maybe a NPC for purps will arrive then maybe not. Even a NPC that sales everything that is avail on market will fix some of the problem i see with the market.
  10. I've been noticing the AI been running away a lot in mishes even if they are of higher level and they are not missing much. I dont have many defense based toons so a purple Freak boss really hardly have trouble hittign my toons, even the defense based ones at times. But aftera takign a few hits they up and run.

At one point it was a mob here or mob there that take flight but now it's almost to the point of at times two per group flee at your first attack even if they didnt take damage (notwithstanding CoT and Cabal as they always have seem to be skittish due to their pure range attacks.)

no global friends? oh man. A while ago I lost my entire global friend list and it never came back. Hope it dont happen again but then again, they are 98% old friends that moved on to other games and the last left with the PvP l33tz exodus. But still for anyone else that dont have an ancient always gray global list, it can be a pain to replace sometimes.

Not sure but this aint the first time this happened. They might have been tweaking things and then went home for the day. Overtime in this economy is hard to come by. Boss might have sent them home early to save money.
  19. [QUOTE=Panzerwaffen;3077267]No, not automatic. Because you clearly do not understand how it functions.

Why? Because you consistently continue to make statements on your own, that demonstrate that. Such as: [QUOTE]

In your opinion. well maybe wrong on that point maybe not but still I hava general understanding how it works and imo, it's wacked.

Nothing is perfect and no matter what they do even if it's the most perfect thing on the planet such as perfection itself someone aint going to like it. Like I might there are soem aspects of the game that is totally awesome while you say is broke. Sure I could just say you lack understanding since you disagree and my point is supurior and thus have more supurior understanding. Yet, sadly, that may not be true. Maybe it is maybe not but its all in perception of the beholder. As an old man told me once. "To people, everyone else stuff stinks except theres." "People view everyone elses flaws as unforgivable as viewing their own flaws as forgettable and or normal." You clearly demostrated what that old man said. Of course imo.

plus sometimes maybe they should put a guranteed system to ge the :good stuff" as it even been mention. to get it, you work for it to get it you cna have the preresiquite gear then go on a raid. Here might cost you 100 million or cost you 1 billlion depending how the few players with that item feels. In the other game, you do the preresiquite and you have it. Here it's maybe or maybe not unless you pay out the butt. While you throw around lazy and work maybe the whole rare system should go to WoW like then that is work and any player after the work can get it and it's guranteed not billions.

ULTRA-RARE. That is the developer's own description of purples. It's not really that complicated a concept to understand.

Really? What is this gap? And how much of that is perception?

SO's are available to everyone. Common IO's are available to everyone. Cheap uncommon set IO's are available to everyone. Rare set IO's are available to everyone. Ultra-rare purple IO's are available to anyone. PvP IO's are available to anyone. The only difference between any of these things, is the amount of effort required to obtain them.

The first three (SO's/Common IO's/Uncommon set IO's) are so easily obtainable that a player would have to go out of their way to not be able to afford them.

The market makes it EASIER to get these things, not harder. See WoW's BoP system and raiding treadmill as a counter-example.

And don't say that SO's and basic set IO's aren't good enough. I have a MA/Electric Armor scrapper on Test, slotted with nothing but old yellow SO's. I can handle x3 or x4 difficulty with him. I made an all-too common Fire/Kin controller just to check it out. Slotted with nothing expensive, just easily available IO sets he is soft-capped to S/L damage and can solo farm at x8. No purples. No PvP IO's. No rare unique IO's.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Merit_Vendor

And with that one single statement you have demonstrated your complete and utter ignorance of the way the market functions. No wonder you seem to fail at being able to use it.

No competition? All players blueside use the same market. All players redside use the same market. Soon all players will use the same market, regardless of faction. There are tens of thousands of sellers and buyers. All those sellers are competing against each other for the prices the buyers are offering. The seller with the lowest selling price always gets the sale.

Your problem, is that you seem to want to remove the competition that exists between BUYERS. That's not fair.

The only understanding of economics needed for the market here I learned in elementary school and watching Sesame Street as a little kid. Supply & demand isn't exactly graduate level economic theory.
so because I think the market should be fixed it's automatic I dont know how to use it? well let me enlighten you I actually do know how to use it but still think it's absurd with the prices that things go for. I'm no means poor or broke and probably have more cash in the inf bank than many of these "for as-is market". And no I dont expect everything to be handed to me but I would like to see the player base get a fair shake and a fair price. I think it's messed up with many of the prices and with really no alternative. and no the seller with the lowest selling price dont always get the sale or then, nothing I put on the market I put for $1 would not sell for over the listed price sometimes when it's not the only one. Hey this is just my idea, and just as I disagree with the market should stay as is and you disagree with it should be changed. and never said SOs are not good enough but I did say as there isa store for them there should be a store for IOs then the prices on the market will be level out to a stable reasonable price while if players want to pay more can just go get it from another player as you can still get SOs on the market but they aint no billions of dollars. why? because you can go get them at a reasonable price elsewhere for the most part.

As one of the people somewhere between these two extremes I can honestly say I've never actually come across a case where someone has said "Hey, you can't be on this team. You aren't IO'd / purpled out"
    I have.
  24. Evil_Legacy

    I > Team

well to me in the end dead is dead. Regardless of the AT I'm on, if someone is blazing through mobs, then more power to them. If I get bored from inaction whether it's just my build or what ever I usually leave. All teams aint meant for me to be on. I dont do "traditional speed runs." What I mean is those speed runs where one or two invisible guys/gals are running to the end of the map after map after map after map while everyone else just twidle their thumbs the whole time. That's no fun to me, fun for some but not for me. Usually before joining a TF I ask about whether it's a speed run or not. If it is I just dont join. If not, I'm in. And usually the team end up steamrolling the mobs anyways and traditional speed run usually wouldnt have saved much time but the diffrence is we actually get to do somethign the whole team, not just the invis/tp guy. Plus I play to beat up mob, not look at them. If they say it's not a speed run and it changes for what ever reason, then usually I try to bow out as soon as possible as I realize it's a speed run and I'm about to fall alseep at keyboard. No hard feelings to them but it just aint my thing just as defeating mob aint their thing.

On my tank/brute/scrap etc I try to stay with group. I dont worry about slow people etc I dont care. If in thta much of a hurry I probably shouldnt be playing in the first place. If they go fast I go fast but if they go slow I go slow. Sometimes the team gets split or I run the wrogn way and aggro. I be damned if I run back to the team with aggro in tow and get everyone killed. Hell, even if it's certain death, I'm trying to take as many with me as possible and ready my hosp button. On my squishy, I aint trying to be first on in. If everyone is standign around, if i'm on my dom I might start confusing the mob etc just out of bordem. And it depends on the build of the tank/brute and the mob. If I'm on my electric brute then anythign that does energy damage, I'm less worried about geting ahead, getting separated from the rest of team and buffs. If it's somethign that can kill m in two or three hits, then I'm still not worried about who is ahead and who is not and gettign separated fro mthe rest of the team and buffs. Just as they get there when they get there and so will I but I aint slow poking around yet on the other hand I aint breaking my neck get to anywhere. But if spend more time standing around than fighting then I'ma go solo. "Dont wait up catch ya next mish", simple as that. In fact on my brutes I did the math at the rate they gain xp and inf solo. 90% of speed runs, dont even add up to the rate I gain solo and on top of getting bored, I aint going to complain. "Hey, I'm getting tired. I think it's best for me to leave." Enjoyment trumps cash every time but without enjoyement there is nothing. I rather make 1 inf per kill and enjoy myself than make 1 milling inf per kill and be bored out my mind.
  25. yeah one thing that is broken is that the alternatives that is supplied is near usless.
Two, in most games, even in WoW there is a way one way or another to get even the IO equvialent. Whether that's fighting a certain monster, or task or etc, here, it depends on some crazy price of the market and doing anything outside the market there is no gurantee at all. Some people never even seen a purple drop yet naturally and they been playing for a while. Even with Hami when they was teh elite enahancement. You could either find it off another player yes, or you could go do a hami raid or complete the top TF, STF ircc. Not anymore. There is a huge gap between the haves and the have nots. And not like all the haves been playing for ages just as just as all the have nots have not been playing for only 1 hour or a month. I've seen more powerleveled 50 billionairs then poor 50s that have not been PLed. I think there should be a cap, but of course 100k is too low. Something that is not extreme high or extreme low. Something you still have to work for but is not out of reach for the casual player. 100 million is what I previous suggested with in lieu of a place where they can go get it for a reasonable fixed price. That way if the player want to sell it off market, have at it if they can find a buyer. But if a person is not swimming in billions and billions and have the hookup like that, they can go to the store just like buying an IO. Hell they could put this store in the middle of the shard but it's an alternative. There is no competition in this market really and just like any real market with no competition you dont get prices that is better you get highly inflated prices. If there was only one meat market, then the guy can set the price of meat at say what ever he feel like that day because who else are you going to buy from? Maybe one day he feel like $1 a pound maybe the next he want a new home onthe hill and now the meat price is $1,000 and if you want meat you either buy it at that price or not at all. There are antimonopoly rules and other rules in a rea life economy for a reason any oen with a sliver of understandign of economics would know that but of course just like in RL, the guy with the power would simly tell the other guy "Hey, buy form me then sell the meat to someone else and you can be rich just like me. there is nothing wrong with the system at all and it's fine just the way it is." How many CEOs would say "hey I laid 100 folks off, maybe it's wrong to take home a 300 million dollar bonus this year even though the company was run into the ground." probably not many they probably woudl say, "the system is good and if the average joe would stop being lazy and invest wisely he can be a millionaire just like me and wont have to worried about getting fired."
