Seriously do you realise how freaking easy it is to cap def a FF Fender? Self buffing bubbles would get them to cap at lvl 22, Scrappers/Brutes/Tankers have to build for it!

The whole balance on CoH is based on teamplay, thats what makes it different to other games.
Teamplay you say? What about how tanks/scrappers/brutes can build to easily take on challenges without even needing a team, when ever other MMO the tank literally has have a healer or support character glued to their hip. You can not say this game is balanced around teaming anymore. The minute stuff like this happens all the past reasoning to not allow self buffing needs to go out the window period.

Fortitude is a 30% damage buff for Defenders, correct? If you take that, and add the 30% solo damage buff Defenders get now, then add Assault's 18.5% damage buff, you end up with a 78.5% damage buff, with no outside help at all. That is also before any damage set bonuses are taken into account.

You will be easily outdamaging a Corruptor, and you'll be creeping up on Blaster level damage output. I'd hardly call that "issues with damage dealing"

I've never seen a Night Widow who is softcapped to everything, has Perma-Hasten with only 40% global recharge, is rocking Instant Healing level regen rates, and can heal back half their health bar every 5 seconds.

Have YOU seen a Night Widow that can do that? Because that's what a self-buffing Empath would be doing.

It's not just the ability to do something, it's the AMOUNT of that ability that determines whether something is overpowered.
Again thats just bull crap because even with all that survivability you are not going to be taking down any GMs or Avs without some kind of outside help so your point is null and void as I said. All the survivability in the world does not make something overpowered especially if it takes you a week to kill something.

Seriously, Empathy would become the most overpowered set in the game if you could buff yourself with it.

You could give yourself enough recharge for perma-hasten/perma-AB with very few set bonuses.

You could softcap to practically everything with self-Fortitude (which will give you around 23% defense to ALL types/positions by itself). Pair that with Defender Maneuvers numbers (7% to all) Hover (2-3% to all), and Weave (4-5% to all) (with a Res/Def in Tough) and you suddenly find that you only need a few set bonuses to be softcapped to everything you can possibly have defense to. I did the math before. If an Empathy defender could self buff, they would be capable of hitting 35-36% defense to everything, with no outside help.

Regeneration Aura will be permanent or nearly so, giving you levels of regeneration that will surpass a Willpower character in a large crowd. You could almost surpass a Regen running Instant Healing with permanent Regeneration aura.

Oh, and you can hit yourself with a rather large self heal every 4 seconds or less and have stackable mez protection.

Pair that with a secondary like Sonic and you have a tankmage in the making.

So, yeah, self buffing characters would cause a severe nerf to a number of powersets. Empathy would go from one of the weakest offensive defender primaries, to the strongest.
And what about the already existing melee sets that are "tank mages" now that already do some of these things? There are already combinations that literally cant die unless 1 shotted by something like hamidon. If you allow any powerset combination to do it then you might as well allow it for all. There is absolutely no legit balance reason to not have
self buffing. Its the lack of self buffing and reduced damage due to being a support AT that has screwed this game up and caused so many players to gravitate towards the FoTM builds. Shouldnt we play are characters because of concept and not because its a grand canyon size gap in soloability and survivability?

I know that the two cases are distinguishable, but still. The devs, with their newfound focus on AoE buffing and Incarnate nuking, seem to be all about gift-giving without attaching any strings. Normally I'd agree with you. But nowadays.... I dunno. Anything's seeming possible with these devs.
Exactly. So much has changed since the begining so alot of the old ways of balance simply do not work because its not fair. Basically if you break the rule in one way you have to do it for everything else to be fair.

This is the very definition of too strong.
And what about nightwidows? They do this now already. We have so many other sets that completely break the mold on this now there is no point in keeping things like the way they were. Allow for self buffing already even at half strength so people have reason to take the powers.
  6. I think the issue is that the devs are afraid of what it will turn the buffing ATs into. To me thats a load of bull. Practically every other MMO allows for self buffing of most buffs. I do not see it unbalancing defenders/controllers/corrupters/masterminds simply because they already do piss poor damage to begin with. Its like they are given a double penalty for being a buffer. You take a damage hit and you cant buff yourself. Of those ATs I mention masterminds at least get the benefit of the pet damage. Personally all this fear of overpoweredness needs to be thrown out considering what they have given us at the incarnate level. Its not going to hurt anything to let us buff ourselves even if its allowed at half strength. The VEATs are reason enough to see its possible to do a support AT and not be overpowered. Lastly its been stated by some that the reason we have no self buffing is because we have no self targetting but thats a load of bull too because npcs can bubble themselves and I am not talking about the personal bubble either. I have seen Dr. Aeon do this at one point. So if they can self buff that means they can self target therefore the whole arguement of that is null and void. The whole reason players cant self target is because they do not want us to self buff its not the other way around.
  7. what gives? The blue is just too loud. I like the villain version better. Is there something I need to change in the options again.
  8. I dont get all the hate for the first 3 x-men movies. They were good to me. True enough they do not respect the source material and they wrote themselves into a corner they couldnt get out of but hell doesnt every movie these days do? That bit aside as a movie and you had no prior knowledge of the marvel comics you can not really say it was a bad movie compared to all the other garbage thats been coming out prior to this summer.

  11. I enjoyed the movie alot. It was very good in my opinion. My only complaint is how they just decide on a whim to discard decades of comic book history when they do these reboots. I was very shocked though at how good the guy who played professor x actually acts.

can you upgrade the 32 bit windows 7 ultimate to the 64 bit version?
Yes and you dont even need another license to do so. The key you bought is for both 32-bit and 64-bit, you just need 64-bit media.
  13. Go for the direct buy on certain things. It allows you to pick the level of the recipe. lvl 20 miracles and lvl 30 numina and lvl 25 lotg are definately wanted more so than the others because you can use them as you level. In the case of the LoTG its more exemplar friendly. The random can be done once you cherry pick everything else if you have the luck for it. I do not use random because I always end up with a ton of crap recipes I can not do anything with that I would never craft and would only vendor them. Those of you with better luck might come out better with the random roll but for me its off limits.
  14. I know currently we do not have EM or Super Strength on scrappers but what would it look like if we did have it? Based on how EM is for stalkers with no or partial crits if this was done to scrappers what would the set look like in terms of damage over time and burst. Would brute fury do more for the set since scrappers get either no or partial crits on ET/TF respectively? Also how do you think they are going to do SS in the end?
  15. So why is aggro even a concern if they are confused? they cant hit you anyways so long as you kill them before it wears off.
  16. So jealous rite noa. I am stuck with bellsouth/att with their new caps on bandwidth. Its really restricting my netflix useage a ton. I am not sure how I am going to manage with this. I just hope verizon gets down to may area soon.

Sorry I am late responding to this but I totally agree here. Of the full body shot we did see was actually footage from super man returns put into smallville. They shrunk it down so we could not see his face clearly but you can tell because clark does not have hair like that.
  18. I say if your good on damage then just go with the purple set. If you need more damage proc it out. Proced out this power is literally walking death for mobs. I just wish the damn end cost of the power wasnt so high otherwise it would be perfect.
  19. If your still unaggroed on the mob and you hit build up and miss you can at least hit concentration strike to recharge build up to at least get some of the damage back. I know it sucks this happened to me too during a manticore tf the other day. Thats why I am not 100% confident in the streak breaker. I have missed more than twice in a row against lvl 1s at level 50.
  20. Keep in mind you cant change out a power if its stilll recharging. So that might be your issue. If the powers arent recharging I find that dying also resets the timer as well.

If a power is obviously OP when compared to similar powers, choosing to play it despite knowing it's broke and will likely be fixed at some point is at the player's own risk. Might as well complain about the Devs closing exploit loopholes while you're at it.

Rain powers =/= nukes, and they never should come close, even with Incarnate buffing.
When we asked about this it was confirmed once before to be WAI but now they change their minds and say its not WAI. Thats the point I was making.

Seriously dude, this is something I been screaming about since issue 7 when you guys added the LRSF. How can you not know this? Its been bugged, and petition several times too. You guys need to read the boards more and take us seriously. Why do you think it was so crazy slanted with the 7 */rad corrupters 1 brute setup in the begining? Nevermind I keep forgeting some of the powers team are new. I am pretty sure Castle knew about this. Just do a sweep of all AV critters and set a hard cap on them of 95% resistance so this wont be a problem anymore.

That was the intention. His static resistance and his Berserker Rage power stacking to over 100% was an oversight. His Unstoppable will still push past 100% for that period, though.

Let me ask you this? Why even allow avs to go past 95% resistance on anything? Seriously look at how this effects teaming. IT DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in terms of overall challenge to the encounter. It just means several members of your team are useless for that duration. All this does is give picky elitists something else to use to discriminate on end game content. Its already hard enough to put teams together for trials and keeping everything going smooth, having it where the 100% resistance thing just means a huge portion of the players will not be allowed to join a trial if leaders a petty enough like that. Trust me on some servers we have leaders who are like this so why give them something else to use? For the good of all that is great in this game please consider what your doing when you give any AV 100% resistance to damage in future content, think about how fair this move is to all of the player base. Either make it 100% across the board for everyone or no one at all.
