Cityofheroes.exe + HD 6850 = crashing/freezing?

I have not had this problem until the last patch. I finally got around the forum login bug so I can finally try to get some help.

Cityofheroes.exe always crashes when I log in.
It can happen as soon as I log in, but normally takes a few minutes before it freezes. I can be playing the game, or iding in pocket D but eventually it'll crash. Most of the time you can end the process in Task Manager but then the graphics turn pink and get all corrupted forcing a reboot. Sometimes the System wont even allow me to do that.

So I upgraded to the brand new 11.5b or whatever hotfix drivers and disabled Catalyst AI by sliding it all the way to the right as suggested elsewhere.

I was playing a good half hour and then it locks up. I immediately bring up the task mgr so I can check the mem usuase..1242148k @70% cpu.

Seems high to me, could a memory leak be causing my crashing probs?

I checked my event log and the first time COH 'Apllication Hang' was 3/24/2011. nothing before that date, plenty after. was there some kind of update around that time?

Its not really the cpu usage that concerns me, it starts off at 70% just having the login screen up. Before logging in the process only uses 707840k memory. After logging in it was just over 900k and I found myself a perch so I can check on mem usuage without moving. It at 1,037 and climbing at even though it's now minimized. I'll edit when it crashes again, I suspect when we get around 1,300k memory used.

It crashed way before it got that high earlier so I'm going to rule memory leak out. I've been experimenting with drivers. So far catalyst 11.1 seem to be stable. I'll need more time to test it out, I only had maybe 20 minutes to play at that time.

Try it with Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering cut in half.
You might also turn Physics Quality down a notch or two; Physics objects actually aren't that common in the game that you'll miss the Very High setting.

On a different note, you're losing about half a gigabyte of your installed RAM to the simple fact that you're running 32 bit Windows 7. 32 bit operating systems can only address about 3.5 gigabytes of RAM, and you have 4 Gb installed.

Finally, there's a memory leak in the NCSoft Launcher. If you're not already telling it to close after it launches a game, you should be. This can be found in the Settings menu of the launcher.

The Windows 7 install disks might actually have both versions on them, but I'm not certain.

Upgrade to 64 bit win7 went well, installed 11.3 drivers and things seemed generally ok. I did bluescreen about some memory timeout crapwhile entering a LAM but that might have been because I set my vid card oc a little too high when I redid the settings from memory.

Played afew hours today, no crashes. Thanks for the input.
