havent read the full thread (sorry! i will but I wanted to say this).
regarding the paragon health service, why do we have one ? surely all thats needed is a room with a emp defender spamming heals all day. walk in with a broken arm, 75% burns and a missing foot... wooooom... walk out 10 seconds later ready to take on Babbage again.
they could have a conveyor belt that trundles past a series of alcoves with emp defenders spamming their heal auras, RAs etc. 20 ft long belt, 5 cubicles to a side, guaranteed to be at better than full fighting fitness by the time you reach the end. -
would love to join but I have an appointment to have my a**e handed to me repeatedly by a whopping great blobby thing

There is the morality of the mission, which it could be useful to describe in more detail though: e.g. mercanary, antihero, truly evil etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
you sir, have just inspired me to create a villain group that fight for the highest bidder and have bright bright yellow uniforms. they are usually found in abandonded mineshafts and are very susceptible to gas
but yes, the descriptions are way too rigid imho. I think a morality compass of sorts should be used.
pure evil naughty bit of A a bit of B nice Heroic
0 -2 3-4 5 6-8 9-10
then you rate your mission according to the type of goal being achieved.
A note for enjoyment would be a good idea , for example:
note: this Arc contains some missions in small areas and may not be suitable for Huge characters
or
note: this arc is nothing but cavemaps. no-one will enjoy this. Prepare to be lagged 'til your eyes bleed. -
hmmm, so unless I want to start a toon called "spacecake" i'd best not be slotting that one then
its weird that in some cases (the rule of 5 for example) the wording is all important but in others the wording means nothing.. -
actually, I remember reading something about this before which is why the failed search was a bit of a suprise...
on another note: anyone know what the story is with Energy Manipulator chance to disorient ?
the text says "chance to disorient your enemy"... and not "chance to disorient the target".
if it was the second wording I would happily think that it needs to be slotted in a targetted endurance power but worded as "your enemy" does this mean I can slot it in a generic power (like stamina) and it randomly fires and affects whoever I happen to be targetting and only takes effect if they are not on my side (ie: not a hero)... -
droooooool.....
time for some more hunting in the hopes of turning up another one for my main alt -
not sure if this has been covered already (my search fu didnt turn up anything from this forum).
what happens if you slot this in the Stamina power ?
does it check every 10 seconds and then have a 20% chance of giving 10 endurance ?
does it just not work at all ?
I have one ready to slot but I dont want to waste a respec if it doesnt work ? -
If i can get my MM up to 50 I'd love to send my bots into the mix.... really need to concentrate on getting him to 50... DXP weekend left him so close but still so far away
-
quick question on arcs...
hero arcs (defeat bad guys) can be run from MA in Paragon.
Villain arcs (steal x and destroy y) can be run from RI
co-op arcs ? can these be run from anywhere ? do they have to be initiated in a co-op zone ?
I knwo this is conjecture based on conjecture but I cant see redside oriented arcs being available to blueside players.... or do we flag them as hero/villain/co-op ? -

but its not jsut purple sets. its low level sets as well. I forget exactly which ones but from what I can remember when I was lookign for recipies last night on my 16th level scrapper:
steadfast protection (knockback resist) is over 20 mill
its either reactive or impervium armour that has recipies for over 10 million apiece for all levels , not just the higher ones.
this means, that players will have to either play the market or farm to supply enough inf to enable their alt to actually complete a fairly common set, let alone take advantage of the IO itself.
I've noticed that since merits came out certian lower level , more common recipies have shot up in price, while generic IO recipies and compelted enhancements are worth next to nothing (range and holds for example, though I think holds were always rubbish).
If it were just purples and the higher level recipies I wouldnt mind , but there is no way my lvl 16 scrapper can afford these without selling other recipies for extortionate amounts which just perpetuates the problem.
ideas to mitigate this problem:
dont show price history : not really fair to the seller or the buyer but would result in bid what you think its worth and not what you see others paying.
depreciating price: the longer an item stays on the market the lower the price. after 3 days, the price starts to fall by 2% per day until it is sold. if the seller wishes to keep the price up he can take it off the market , lose the deposit and pay fo rit to be listed again.
Market control: if the market sees a hike in the price of a recipie, it starts introducing those recipies into the market at a lower, more reasonable price at periodic intervals. that way buyers can either bid fo rthe hugely inflated prices or bid at a reasonable rate and wait for the market to make the adjustment. Sellers will have to anticipate this and price their recipies accordingly.
Yes, farmers feed the market, but currently some of these suppliers are simply gouging. I had a full set (spare) of winter's gift that I was going to give to another alt but when I saw the prices they were selling for I sold them and donated half the money to my alt and bought useful sets for both characters. But the winter's gift recipies are rare, so why are they sellign for less than low level , non-purple recipies. in this case, rarity which equals supply does not hold up to the supply/demand price setting ideal. so either winter's gift is the anomoly, or the markets are skewed.
wow, I waffled along there for a bit. sorry! -
Crimerora: Colossus, not a giant mek-man but a giant greco-roman warrior made of bronze. Sits on a huge stone throne overlooking the sea until it is triggered and then goes on a rampage toward the town.
Crimerora: Hydra: 7 headed serpent (like a land lusca) that lives in a random cave in the hills. hunts at night and returns to its cave in the day so, yes it has an almost random route through the area and can only be intercepted at night.
Crimerora: Kraken: like the kraken from clash of the titans. surfaces in the harbour, wrecks a few ships and bogs off with a handful of munchy peasants every now and then.
Hollows: Dolmen ; a huge Igneous stone giant that climbs up out of the ground every so often (when the caverns trial is completed?) for a bit of stompy goodness
Hollows: Monolith: another lump of walking rock. there are four monoliths (granite, basalt, sand and lava) released when Dolmen reaches certain points of the map
Hollows: megalith: released by dolmen at a fifth point. Huge diamond giant.
Faultline: Crom: the earth serpent. disturbed by the digging works this huge serpent travels aorund the sunken areas of faultline looking for snacks.
Steel Canyon: Giant demon summoned by circle at the top of the mound near the perez gate. flies to several points on the map before disappearing into the lake near the boomtown entrance
just some ideas
ps. on the medieval vs fantasy: not all fantasy is medieval, yes, the most common is but there is also science fantasy and contemporary fantasy. we already have guys runnign around with swords and armour so you could say we alreayd have a WoW flavour happening (I wouldnt say that as I've played WoW and hated it and I quite like my BS/Shield scrapper). Marvel 1602 was a decent super-medieval setting that showed that it can work. An example of contemporary fantasy would be Moonknight or perhaps even Spawn.
there are different levels of fantasy also, high fantasy - like WoW - with lots of non-human races, monsters and magic being commonplace and low fantasy which is much closer to reality. Personally I prefer low fantasy settings which is the best we could hope for considering we are playing super heroes after all so there's only so much realism you can expect.
Only problem i would have with a medieval setting, and which I have with crimerora, is when players are able to use powers etc that dont fit. Bots MM, assault weapons etc. but, once you get over that, i think it could be quite fun. TF would become Quests
I do agree however tha tif it came to a choice between low fantasy medieval and sci-fi in the form of a moonbase and space stations, I'd much prefer to see sci-fi. -
how about a power pool like:
1. teleport enemy : teleports target to a location you choose (within reason, no dropping off a cliff, same targetting options as current recall power but with better range)
2. recall friend (same as is)
3. teleport chain (same as current teleport power)
4. Anchored teleport: you set a "pin" in the map by physically standing at the position and activating the power. when you activate the power (long activation and disruptable so not to be used in combat) you get an option list (like base teleporter) where you select either "set anchor" (you name the anchor when you set it) or you click on an existing anchor. Numbers are limited to 1 anchor per two or three levels. ( a system where you can use team mates as anchors would be nice too). -

Hey all.
in an effort to reduce the spam accounts being set up on the forum, I've upgraded to PHPbb3.
please use
http://infernal.faelkeep.com/phpBB3/
I'll leave the old link active for now until the changeover is complete (we lose our lovely style though)
however, there's a new batch of styles available so we can vote on which one we like (in the process of uploading now).
default style is prosilver, once new styles are uploaded, please be sure to change from prosilver.
when creating a new account, change from prosilver as well - this is a handy way to identify spam accounts
also, put something related to Infernal Justice or City of Heroes in your signature when setting up a new account. -

GhostRaptor will however be helping me through my transition and will be telling me everything about you all.
[/ QUOTE ]
first off. welcome
second: dont believe anythign GR tells you. I didnt do any of it, unless you find it strangely attractive, in which case I may have done it.
third: watch out for that golden girl one. she's trouble.

in a questionaire prior to I13 there was a section on heroes in space iirc..... including a moonbase. (then again, there was also a section on the moral compass idea too.. so ye never know. red herrings or smoked kippers? )

Evangel received a pet Rikti money for his veteran reward. This monkey was fully grown with a bad attitude and a worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. Those that weren't expletives were, to say the least, rude.
Evangel tried hard to change the alien's attitude. He was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, and anything else that came to mind. Nothing worked. He yelled at the monkey and the monkey got worse. He shook the
thing and the monkey got madder and ruder.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, Evangel put the monkey in the freezer. For a few moments he heard it banging, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, all was quiet.
Frightened that he might have actually hurt the creature, Evangel quickly opened the freezer door. The monkey calmly stepped out onto Evangel's extended arm and said:
"I'm sorry that I offended you with my language and actions. I ask for your forgiveness."
Evangel was astounded at the monkey's change in attitude and was about to ask what changed him when the monkey continued: "May I ask what the chicken
did?" -
oooh, maybe SOE will step in and lend a hand running (ruining) things ?

A man goes into a restaraunt in Croatoa. It's one of those places where you choose a fish from the tank and they cook it for you.
This man decides he wants the Squid, and points it out a little green one with a little bit of fur above its upper lip. The waiter, whose name is Jervais, grabs the squid and goes off to cook it.
However, Jervais the waiter has actually made a pet of the little squid, and can't bring himself to cook it. He's staring down at the squid, which is staring up back at him, and thinks "no, I can't do it". So he takes the squid back, and tells the customer that squid is off, and would he care to choose another dish.
The customer sees that the squid is back in the tank, swimming about happily, and says 'no! I want that little green squid, dammit! I want it now!'. So Jervais again grabs the squid and goes off to the kitchen to do the deed.
He just can't do it. There's his mate the squid staring up at him with its cute hairy lip .. so he shouts to the local withc hunter, a hard man, whose name is Hans.
"Hans" he says "Come and chop this squid up .. I can't do it!!"
Hans replies "No, mate .. I like him too. I won't do it. He's too cute"
So Jervais returns the squid to the tank, once more, and explains to the manager the situation, a tear in his eye. Hans backs him up, also blubbing a little.
The manager walks up to the customer and says:
I'm sorry, that squid is off the menu".
"WHY?!" says the customer, angry that he hasn't got his squid yet.
"Because Hans, who guts witches, is as soft as Jervais, with mild green furry lip squid" -
cool
unexpected. maybe the links to the german server or the hardware is the problem.... in any case. if its less lag then thats good news for the community.
also, moving the EU players to the US servers would maximise the US server usage time (peak hours and slowtimes would help cancel each other out) and on top of that, bandwidth is a lot cheaper in the states
