That doesn't hold up in the RWZ arcs though. The Nemesis automatons that fooled the Rikti would have to pass muster against an advanced technology (including mind readers... though I thought the Rikti magi were Lost converts who had Mu blood in them, meaning they shouldn't have existed on the Rikti homeworld?)

The Rikti Priests are from the homeworld. Their bio on ParagonWiki:
[ QUOTE ]
Though the Rikti are not known to be religious, they do have a number of individuals that fill a role similar to priests in their society. These cultural officials also investigate instances of aberrant thought, and seek to correct them. Few had ever been seen on Earth, until recently.

So you'd think, being psychic and all, the Rikti would notice those automatons had no minds. And then they'd look into that. But no, like any highly advanced civilization they immediately went all "grr, snarl, let's invade earth." Even though the warlike faction was a minority at the time.
The Positron and Manticore automatons don't have to make sense, because they're just an office worker joke taken way too far, and an excuse to have heroes fight some AVs with annoying debuffs. -
This is why they should have let Nemesis be in charge. At least Nemesis would have cute little steam-powered robots picking up all the garbage. And shooting you in the face if you step on the grass.

But what about the high quality Superadine that the Family uses? Does it eventually make you green, stupid, impotent and insane too?

And where is fishing in all this?
I see trolling is rampant in the forums, but I want real fishing!

My arc is now tagged 'Very short and silly'. Combined with 'Rikti Monkeys', I *think* it says everything that needs to be said about the arc without saying, 'Hey, you're going to be fighting some monkeys in this one and probably won't get a lot in the way of merits.'.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, actually it doesn't. A lot of people just can't comprehend that people would deliberately create and play missions for reasons other than rewards. Unless your description clearly states "very little in the way of tickets and xp" expect some low ratings.
If you don't care about ratings call it whatever you want, I doubt a mission that gives almost no rewards would have any complaints against it taken seriously by a GM. -
If vet rewards are the only way, it'll discourage people who were drawn to CoH, or decided to renew their subscriptions because of MA.
Ideally there would be a way that requires some effort, but doesn't cost real money. They'll probably just do micro-transactions though, it seems to unfortunately be the direction the game is heading. -
Honestly? Most people do expect some sort of xp and ticket reward for playing through story-based content. If your mission gives few or no rewards, the description should say so.
On the other hand, someone complaining that an MA mission gives no merits, salvage, enhancements or recipes is unlikely to have their complaint taken seriously. -
While a better search would eliminate a lot of the motivation to downrate as a form of ratings PvP, it would do nothing about the people who downrate for the perverse thrill of making someone else's gaming experience less enjoyable.

If you're not relying on specific spawn points, and not using Oranbega, I can see the appeal of random maps. Handpicked maps do run the risk of looking very deliberately chosen, with deliberately placed objectives. Bad guy bosses don't all hang out at the back of the most linear map available.
-
Does anyone remember what happened with the "Dev Only" maps from i14 beta? Were they eventually added to the regular map selection?
I want to use the burning lab map that is currently Dev Only on Test, but I'm not going to plan around it if it's unlikely to be made available with i15. -
The hyperphase temp power helps with pulling, and gives your friends time to grab aggro.
Yes, I've deliberately gone out of my way to solo this arc with various characters. I like that final mission, and I like seeing if I can do it.
The most fun is to take a scrapper with a tray full of insps, and just charge all three EBs at once. Let Burkie and Nos beat up all the little guys. -
So after finding out I was wrong about patrol xp not counting toward the debt badge, I have found a use for all that patrol xp on my villains that are leveling in Mission Architect so as never to have to fight another Longbow....
But boy, is it tedious. -
I'm guessing they also want to wait until the hype has died down, so the only people actually using those slots are people who are serious about creating missions and not just playing around with the new shiny.
-
Only stupid griefers brag about doing it. So if even if they get banned, it doesn't make much of a dent in the jerk population.
They need to go a step further, do some datamining, and ban anyone who habitually 1 or 0 stars arcs they haven't even started. -
Who says I'm not PUI right now?
My worst offense was the rambling random SQUEEE posts I made after having a bunch of beers while waiting for the test server to come back up so I could check out the i15 changes to MA. I liked some of them so much I couldn't resist sharing.
I am also frequently guilty of SUI (Scrapping under the influence), although with the way I normally play my Scrappers, nobody can tell. -
Raider bugs me on principle. Yes I know you can just afk-farm it, or zone out every once in a while if you want to be nice, but we were told that PvP would not be required for PvE content, and for villains to be equal to heroes, it is.
My most hated accolade requirements are, in this order:
The debt badge for High Pain Threshold. You are being rewarded for sucking. Plus it's even harder to get with patrol XP thrown in.
The 10 million damage taken badge. I finally got that one on my level 50 blaster after about 2000 hours of normal play. Yeah, so you might as well farm it.
Marshal. Requires a Strike Force that a lot of people don't even want to start because of its reputation as "impossible."
Archmage. Illusionists, yuck. Fortunately people set up farms for them frequently.
Task Force Commander. 'Cause it makes me do Posi. -
I've done it with a squishy. They can be pulled. You have run way way back, and sprint to LoS fast enough to keep Nosferatu and Burkholder from catching up, hit your jetpack to get into range, and run back out of LoS.
If they manage to keep up, and if they hop down, they'll just run around merrily aggroing the whole room. -
Definitely add a warning to the description.
If we were supposed to be able to create Task Forces, they would let us create Task Forces. You might want to try soloing it with your Brute. If you can do it, call it a challenge and accept that some people will try it with an Ice/FF controller anyway, and complain that it's too hard. If you can't, you might want to consider toning it down. -
They need to add in a pop-up when a new patch goes live, saying in big bold letters: ONE OR MORE OF YOUR PUBLISHED ARCS MAY HAVE BECOME INVALID, CHECK THEM. Judging from the number of threads on this topic, people don't know why their arcs won't start. Never mind the myriads of people who don't read the forums.
Mod developers are a minority, they have extensive knowledge of the game and go to test servers and forums. The MA is supposed to be usable by the masses.
Also, arcs that are invalid for any reason shouldn't show up on searches. Assuming the devs aren't going to clear out arcs by inactive accounts, how many invalid published arcs are going to be clogging up the search in a few months? -
Yes, saving to a local file stops work on the Published arc. You have to exit the local file, go to the published arc and hit the Edit button again to resume working on the published version.
You have the option to republish or save locally. Not both. If you want to do both, you have to republish first, wait for the "blah blah blah has been updated" message, refresh your MA search window, and go edit the newly republished arc and save to local.
If there's an easier way, please tell me. -
1: How does the Fortunata Mind Link work, from a story perspective? Can they use it to telephatically communicate with each other?
2: Rikti monkeys. Are they actually Riktified monkeys? And if so, would the riktification process work on Earth monkeys? -

Have they fixed the damage scaling with Ninjutsu yet? I'd love for the Fashioninjas to be able to Hide again without them two shotting anyone who comes near. I had to replace Ninjutsu with Super Reflexes because they were too deadly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I asked about this in the Player's questions forum and was told they had. I haven't had a chance to test it for myself yet though. I was going to pick a random tiny map and drop in some /Nin of foes and see what happens when I walk in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I did run a mission with Ninjitsu foes after the fix, with a blaster, and I didn't die horribly, so it seems ok. It's still nasty when combined with the high-damage ranged attacks in melee sets, since their AI tells them to use the ranged attack first, so they get the damage bonus on it. -
Outdoor maps are funny like that. They don't have a clearly defined front, middle and back, so you can't control where things spawn.
-
Yes, the whole recommendation system would have to be based on completing arcs. That's pretty much a given, if you can't finish it, how can you recommend it?
It would seriously cut down on highly rated player-killers, that's for sure, since your friends would have to actually beat it first. There might be a way to get around that with failable missions, but at this point why would you bother? -
Yes, it seems to only apply to custom critters. My arc that had nine custom critters and a custom contact dropped about 20%. The one that had seven customs and a ton of text only dropped by about 10%.
On the downside, my custom group comprised of two custom minions and crey "random minion," "random lieutenant" and "random boss" broke. I had to select all the standard minions, lieutenants and bosses individually, increasing how much space they took up.
