    How about my first blaster, the AR/Elec. I won't say no one has ever rolled one, but I will wager few keep them. I got him to 50, tried to make it work, and just deleted him for my Fire/EM blaster.

    I followed the suggestions and also moved Stealth to earlier in the build. This will allow the toon to be a Stealth/TPer for the Posi TF (for example).

  3. In case you're wondering, I've found that I don't use Absorb Pain nearly as often as I thought, so I got rid of it. It was a good panic button heal, but in the end, I didn't use it enough to justify the spot.

    Ultimately, I see this Emp being used in L50 missions, such as TFs and Portal Jockey accolade work.
  4. I prefer playing the Emp as the healer primary and not so much the "fighting Emp" that some prefer. That said, here's the build so far. I would like better ranged and AoE defense, but I'm not interested in turning her into a fighter.

    You may find slotting a Red Fortune Def/End in the place of the standard Def IO to be worth the swap. In some cases, you lose no real defense and drop you End use a fraction.

    I also think slotting the Numina and Miracle in Dull Pain may be a waste. I'd rather have those cycle every ten seconds in Health.

    So, here are some minor tweaks to it. I also think that if you're playing with Combat Jumping on, you are slightly over-built on Smash/Lethal. Your preference, of course.

  7. Maybe it depends how much time each player puts into the game.

    If you have a great deal of Inf, then you can theoretically IO your toon in an evening. "Buy it NAO!" I saw a Symbol sell for 1,000,000 just a few days ago. Moments later, and I do mean just moments later, I bought one for 2,000. There were less than 5 on the market.

    If you don't have a good deal of Inf and need to budget and work for IOs and IO sets, then it would take longer.

    I've IO'd/min-maxed two of my toons. Together, it may have cost me close to a billion. Now, I have two more in the pipes to be min-maxed. As I've levelled them, I've banked certain IOs I'll need and sold others for Influence. So, when the time comes (level 47), I should be able to IO them without a great deal of effort.

    Also, tt may be an obsession on this board, but as far as the total player population, it is not.

    The IO set bonus stuff keeps the game interesting for the hardcore gaming types (i.e. Min/Maxers) who would otherwise move on to the next challenge/game to master.

    I don't think it effects the playability of the overall game. Masters runs are still tough to accomplish with PUGs.
  9. I stopped at 20 because that was the limit of the Posi exemp. The toon will level beyond it, but for the purpose of the TF, I wanted to show what I would have at my disposal and get some build advice. If you mean the IOs, well, that's because I finally figured out how to set the default level and didn't change it back.

    I think this is the crux of it.

    Disclosure: I'm not a Farmer. I am amused by this thread, though.

    However, it's clear that farming is centered on "bang for the buck"

    He clearly spent billions on a build...so why be a "farmer" if you you have no serious objection to spending the real-world money?

    His build isn't bad, in the classic sense (though dropping Hasten is an eye-popper), but he doesn't seem to understand that soloing mobs does not really equal "optimized farming." I'm very sure there are folks on here who measure the Influence per hour, factor in drop rate, and can tell you that by moving one or two items in an attack chain, you can typically increase your return by n%. I don't get the impression FKM goes to that level of calculation.

    So, spending $60 or so on a toon, rolling through a farm mission you custom designed, still lacking the serious Inf/per minute rate of other farmers, and calling them out as jealous when some offer constructive criticism is the reason he's not getting a lot of love right now.
  14. I also started with a Fire/Ice tank. I almost gave up on tanking, but for the wrong reasons. I was taught one style of tanking, but Fire/Ice is not geared/best suited for the "stand in the pile and get beaten for 35 levels" style. It wasn't only after switching to an Invul/SS tank and then reflecting on my Fire/Ice history that I realized it simply needed to be played differently to be effective.

    So, more than anything, I'd say you should figure what type of play style suits you, then find the tank primary/secondary that will fit that style.

    I think most post here to get help. I know I do. Heck there are times I tinker with builds just to see how it goes, like the blaster build with almost all travel powers and Blessings to give him great defense (terrible recharge, among other issues). Of course with 20 points of KB Prot, you'd need a nuke to knock him down.

  16. I've found a good number of folks, brace for it, just wanna play their toon the way they want to play it. Have a buddy who has a L50 tank, has had him for years, and wants him to be a "fighting tank." He doesn't particularly care if he's considered squishy.

    Me? I like to game and I think Min/Maxing is part of the game. Others just like to go around blasting, pounding and locking stuff down for their $15 a month.

    That said, I only have two builds that I'd consider min/maxed - my tank and my troller. I have a blaster in the mix, but I'm not sure I'm going to min/max him. I've been going different ways with his concept and haven't settled on one I really like and I can't see putting "money" into a build I may not like in a month.

  19. I see a lot of what you're saying, Tonality. I think I worried a bit too much about folks who talked about the End issue, so I thought about slotting Brawl.

    I also confess ignorance on Dark Melee. Never really delved into DM, so I'll certainly take your advice there.

    Here's a second go-round. I come from the world of the soft-capped tank, so it's hard for me to let that go. That said, although this build has CJ for L49, I can move in Gloom. I just figure with Super Speed + CJ + Hurdle, I should be okay in most situations.

    However, if you think Gloom outweighs the annoyance of running around until you get up a level (physical level), I'd certainly listen.

    That said, how can I tweak this? Never been a Dark Melee guy, but I wanted to try it out.
  21. Don't worry about the builds themselves. The one with the very high recovery rate is a mess, due to switching power sets. So, there are things slotted that I wouldn't go with.

    I just can't spot what I did to generate that much recovery.

  23. For my Posi toons, I use Hasten and then Super Speed, then proc Sprint or SS with Stealth. Allows you to speed the missions.

    As far as the type of scrapper, I'd imagine a /SD.
