My experience with the community is that, by and large, it's a very helpful place (particularly in the market forum, where folks routinely give detailed information on how to get stupid-rich), but that it doesn't react well to (a) people who make blanket statements about "the community" that paint us in a negative light or (b) people who suggest overhauling systems which, while not perfect, do not represent the best possible use of developer time or resources in the present game environment. -

It was previously talked about breaking TF's when entering a PvP zone but that would effect anyone on a struggling TF who wanted to go for shivens/nukes etc. so it was scrapped. -
I'd be willing to bet side-switching is exactly the culprit here. I recently noticed on one of my fully-switched toons that I had Mender Ramiel as a still-active contact even though I'd not only T3 Alpha'd the character, but also unlocked and slotted the four other Incarnate slots. So I thought, "Ooh, that's kinda weird, let's do the arc again if I can!" And indeed, I could and did. I was curious as to whether I'd receive another "free" Shard from clicking the glowie at completion, but alas, nope. Still, though, I was able to accept and complete the entire arc, and it eventually dawned on me that after unlocking Alpha in the original alignment I had switched alignments completely, so I'm thinking that was why.

With all due respect it doesn't change the fact that it still costs more than it used to. Maybe not though, if I skip the stuff out of it that I do not plan on using.
I'm not here to complain about stuff though... I am probably going to be buying beam rifle and hover board on day one anyways, and I'm sure that will more than use up any paragon points I have.
I just want to know if I can use the rifle with beam rifle at this point in time.
I tried getting on to Beta to test that for you, but the server is down at the moment, apparently. I'll try later. -

I just picked up the game on Aug 21 during the 2 dollar sale on a whim and the advice of a friend who said we should try it with Freedom around the corner - and now a little over two weeks later, with the information gleaned from the thread and others like it, I'm now within ~100m of my first billion influence.
Experience is invaluable, but without people like you sharing it, some things might be a lot more irritating than they are.
(Also I'd have nothing to make my friends go 'where the hell did you get all that cash what are you doing are you a wizard', which is also pretty invaluable.)

(Nobody knows the exact drop rates anyway, we can only guesstimate. They drop VERY rarely, I can tell you that from my own experience. Like once per 4-12 hours of constant afk farming, and as you can see form that wide time range, it really varies.) -

The way people currently beat the time-out feature while in the PvP zone is by placing each toon into an Ouroboros arc beforehand, which has the same effect as being inside a mission (i.e., your toon will not be auto-logged-out).
Careful, however, as Zwillinger has hinted lately that they are changing this mechanic somehow to defeat afk PvP IO farmers... -

There's a red name post out there (by Zwill, I believe) stating that the devs are not going to be running a name-freeing script around I21/Freedom, and furthermore that they currently have no plan to do so in the future (someone more passionate about this topic than I am can go hunt down the post if desired).
That said, there's a whole server full of free names being made available when Exalted server launches.
