  3. As my sgmates and I have usually done every year (picking games just for the fun of it), this week I picked the following to win:

    ARI over NO
    BAL over IND
    MIN over DAL
    SD over NYJ

    My reasons are thus:

    Saturday's games were 'harder' to pick I think...I wanted to pick NO and IND but...I don't know...I think everyone doubted the Cardinals last year and they proved themselves last year...they were underdogs (I'm assuming) for this game against the Packers....and NO hasn't looked great the last 3 weeks (yes they have more time to prepare but....).

    Then you have the Ravens/Colts game...the 'old adage', "don't pick against Peyton"...Ravens coming off of a 'high' smacking down the Patriots (which btw, ty Ravens! )...maybe Colts have 'rested' their guys/starters too much...who knows....I'm going with the Ravens.

    Sunday's games...well I hate the Cowboys so I have to pick the Vikings and I just think the Chargers will roll against the Jets. Could be wrong though
  4. I love your ideas Trickshooter (and would support almost any way to make TA (and Archery) better).

    I think Trick Archery is a prime example of why some sets shouldn't be transferred over to another AT's set. TA had awesome recharge debuffing...until they noticed that was way too much for a Controller if they had TA as a secondary....*nerf* I remember doing a test arena match on the test server against a sgmate. I hit him with all my powers (that had -recharge) and his Brawl took 8 seconds to recharge! :P

    TA should have stayed a Defender primary when it was originally launched...but that's just my opinion.

    I remember when mayhem missions came out and both myself and my friend said, "these mayhem (and now safeguard) missions should be 'live pvp' events...where there are actual player-villains trying to rob the bank and actual player-heroes trying to stop them."

    I mean...pvp right now is boring to me. Why should I pvp? There's no good reason to...no rewards that appeal to me...pvp IO recipes? Only reason I'd want them is to sell them and make $$$ which is not satisfying for me. I farmed all the badges that are in/for PVP...don't need more "pve content" in "pvp-land".

    Objective-based PvP would be nice. 'Capture the flag', mayhem/safeguard/type missions...something, something other than "ha I beat you" would be good.
  8. To be honest (since I'm a Redskins fan), as long as the Cowboys, Eagles and/or Patriots don't win the SB I'm fine.

    I'll be rooting for the Saints to win it all I guess...I like to see 'new' teams win the SB...like the Saints/Vikings/Jets/Bengals/Chargers/etc.

    Well that's the thing...on the first run (Jan. 1st) I know we blew up the tower and we didn't move on (or at least I didn't) and from what I saw no repairman but the tower seemed to respawn within, I'd say, 3 seconds. Maybe he was hiding or whatever but *shrugs*

    The second run I couldn't say for sure since I wasn't there/watching it.

    Just thought it was interesting that the red tower re-spawned almost immediately both times and the other 3 towers never had an issue and thought it might have been a part of that bug that was fixed a month (3 months?) ago.
  10. So 4 days ago a team of 7 and myself did a MoSTF run (and finally completed it! http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=204394) and then yesterday I was invited for another MoSTF run last night.

    I joined and we got to the end and (my toon was a mind/emp) I stayed with the stone tanker while he was taunting/tanking LR and the others were taking down the towers. Well they took the red tower down first and it seemed to have re-spawned immediately. Now I didn't see if there were repairmen there or not (was facing the other way/where the tank was) but on the run that I was a part of on Jan. 1st I had the same issue. Now I know on the run on Jan. 1st I was a part of taking the red tower down...and it came back immediately even though I didn't see a repairman healing/repairing it.

    Has anyone else noticed this and if so, bug?

    - LOTS of new maps/tilesets that are also used for old content

    - Re-do all old blueside content like:
    -- Allow us to call contacts after 1st/2nd mission not after 2-3 story arcs
    -- Remove (or give us an option) to skip silly 'talk to' missions
    -- Move all (or most) of the contact's missions to the zone where the contact is at (except for things like talks/fedex) (or at least within the next zone)...get tired of going from PI to AP to FF to IP to Bricks to Crey's...etc...

    - More free character slots per server (or the ability to move the free slots from one server to another)

    - More base updates/pieces
    -- Allow a trainer, difficulty npc, WW/BM NPC in the base

    - More free costume pieces

    - Cathedral of Pain trial back up and working (ie. also have base raids work well/have a reason to raid)

    - More redside SFs to fill in the gaps

    - More maps/tilesets

    - Merge markets

    - More powersets

    - Some sort of mail system that you can send yourself salvage/recipes/enhancements so that you don't have to bother anyone else

    - The ability to promote/demote within an SG while the person is offline

    - The ability to invite someone to an SG when that person is offline

    - Have SG rosters be made up of globals instead of character toons...so that would mean if I made a new SG with my @Energizing Ion and I made a new char. it would know that this new toon is in the same SG (I could quit the SG if I wanted to of course)

    - A better search window/function/more options for it (like a "team is looking for more people" type of flag, etc...)


    Oh and did I mention merge the markets and lots of new maps/tilesets that are used (or at least have the ability for it) throughout the whole game yet?

    Let's see what this year brings...

    Story time!

    Yesterday around 5pm or so I got a group of friends/sgmates and one pickup person to try to get the MoSTF badge. The team make-up was as follows:

    Me (Kin/Rad Defender)
    Defensive End (Stone Armor/Energy Melee Tanker)
    Aculeus (Assault/Energy Blaster)
    Radiant Fallacy (Illu/Rad Controller)
    White Lionheart (Illu/Rad Controller)
    Eyil (Fire/Fire Blaster)
    Police Woman (AR/Devices Blaster)
    Gray Banshee (Dark/Sonic Defender) (the pickup, good teammate! )

    So we start the TF and the first mission goes relatively well with very few 'threats' of death, we exit. 1 mission down, 4 to go.

    The second mission went fine no issues: 2 missions down, 3 to go.

    The third mission we just skipped the CoT mobs and had DE run to the back and tp us. Cleared the CoT mobs in the last room with no issues. DE was going to stay in the middle since he could handle the AV shooting at him while the rest of us tried to go around and clear the rest of the vines. Was starting okay...but then got down to around 9 or so vines and then...yeah...vines started to respawn....and kept respawning. After about 5 mins of this I got an AIM message (I play CoH in windowed mode so that I can talk on AIM if needed to without minimizing CoH). The message was from my best friend (who used to play this game) and he just said, "hi" and I was already nervous because of doing the MoSTF run and trying not to fail again so when I saw his message I was like, "ah man, he's going to be like "let's hang out together now! I'll be at your house in 10 mins!" type of conversation and since he'll be leaving for Afghanistan for a few months I definitely would have but I just said "hi" back and asked him what's up but he never replied. So back to the vines and oh look one of the Blasters has aggro of the AV...turning red..."that's it" I thought...well I was able to ID him/her and the 'trollers healed him/her (or they popped greens *shrugs*)...hooray crisis averted!

    So we're still clearing vines as they keep respawning...and then oh look one of the Controllers has the AV's attention...and he's in the red...again got ID on him/her and they healed him/her. Clearing and then a different Blaster gets the AV attention and I was like, "seriously...again? " This time I was on the other side of the room and thought for sure I wouldn't get to him to ID him before he dies but I jumped away and tried to get to him...by the time I ID'ed him I noticed he just used some BFs and some greens...hooray crisis averted for the 3rd time! So we finally cleared all the vines (seemed like it took 20-30 mins or so). Killed the AV with no issues: 3 missions down, 2 to go.

    The fourth mission we always waited for the 2nd ambush to come and we'd squash it then move on to the next Chief just cause we wanted to be more careful than usual So I think we defeated about 4 or 5 Chiefs before we got the key. Went in and defeated the AVs without an issue (although one of the Controllers I think was close to death when we started to fight the Night Widows/Wretch...darn psy nukes...but no death. We get to Aeon and I've been in MoSTF runs where I've died (or others) when we've gotten too close to Dr. Aeon/melee/pbaoe range of them...so we all stayed at range except DE. Defeated Aeon with no issues. 4 missions down, 1 to go.

    The final mission we cleared both 'aisles' leading to the 4 AVs just in case So I explain to all what we are trying to do, "DE will pull GW, I keep ID on him everyone else stay at range and kill her....if Sci comes, kill him first." You know the usual. So DE and I do the tp pull 'trick' and here comes GW. Waiting....and...what? Scirocco didn't come?! Nice! So we pound on GW (all from range obviously) while I keep ID on DE. She phases DE at one point when she was about 25% HP left and luckily DE still had her attention and then I think when the 'taunt' was about to wear off and DE was still phased the holds finally held her and then by the time holds wore off DE was back to taunting So hooray...GW is down...the "hardest part" is done right?

    So DE and I tp pull Sci and Sci doesn't come....immediately. Black Scorpion comes and at first no Sci so I say, "bah...kill BS"...so we start attacking him then, there he is! Sci comes :P Sci zaps (or does something) to me/or someone that I was too close to and bam I'm down to 25% health or less...I go "eek" and pop a few purples and greens to keep alive and DE taunts Sci and then we all go for Sci first. I was actually surprised Mako didn't come either but *shrugs* whatever...So we smack down Sci with no issues after that and I think to myself, "oh my...2 of the 'hardest' AVs down...no deaths....could this be?!" So we take down Black Scorpion and left with Mako. We pull Mako and smack him down. All AVs down!

    Gray Banshee had to reboot his PC because it was acting up so figured this was the best time for him to do so since 4 AVs were down. So we wait...and...wait....a good 20+ mins or so waiting for him. I was tempted to move on not knowing if he'd come back or not and I'm getting hungry (didn't have dinner cause I didn't think it'd take 'this long') but was like, "we'll give him another 5 or so minutes before we move on." Luckily he did come back and says, "stupid Windows Updates" :P Ah that's why it took so long

    So DE and I tp'ed pulled the 2 side mob groups that are near the LR statue just so that when we fought the flier there would be less mobs to worry about. We do that and then we take on the flier (took him on when it was to the right of the statue). I think one (maybe two?) had a few health issues with some of the Banes that the flier spawns going after them but no deaths...flier is down! So we clear the last of the mobs near/around the statue and DE pops some purples and he charges in and starts tanking/taunting LR. The 2 Controllers put RI and EF on LR and Gray puts on DN on LR. White Lionheart stays with DE to help with any heals (but was hopefully always far away enough from DE/LR to not get hit with LR's PBAoE attack or cone attacks). The rest of us started to take out the red tower. Then something happened, not sure what since I wasn't paying attention, but White Lionheart dropped to yellow/red health and looked like he was going to die (maybe got too close? don't know) and "eep, no not now!" type of mentality running through my head...but luckily no deaths...we keep pounding away at the red tower. Finally we destroyed the red tower and said, "hooray, blue tower....wait..." then the red tower respawned! I didn't see any repairmen but somehow Red respawned. So...back to the red tower. And while that happened the flier respawned! But we ignored it and it went away/did its patrols. Took down the red tower again then went for the blue tower.

    I must have been too close because I got the flier's attention and it did its missile attack and I backed away noticing that (and the icon below my health) and said "flier aggro, back off a bit" and then stupid me after I got damaged from the blast (not sure why the damage is delayed like it is) almost forgot to pop a few greens to keep me alive. Then a few seconds later I was like, "hey dummy pop a green or two!" So I used them and a few purples...no deaths. The flier continued on its patrol and we continued trying to take down the blue tower. This must have taken awhile because the flier came to its spawning point and was attacking us...at first thought I was going to say, "fall back (away from aggro range)" but thought better and just had everyone attack the flier. Had another few close calls (I think mainly from the bombs that the flier sends out) but no deaths. Flier down for the 2nd time and back to the blue tower. We took out the blue tower and headed for the yellow (orange) tower next.

    We took out this tower without any issues and moved to the green tower. Again no issues here, then on to LR. At this point I was thinking, "oh my....this is it....so close...." So we all stay at range (only person in melee range was DE) and we smack down LR! Task Force Complete! Master of the STF badge awarded to all!

    According to the screenshot I have it took 2 hours, 30 minutes and 8 seconds to do the TF

    Now I don't have to continually kick myself about messing up when I did a Master of STF run years ago when it first came out. Helly, Shad, Monkeybutt, myself and other Legion peeps/friends did the TF but no one knew the exact reqs. for the badge beyond 'no deaths'....so we completed the TF with 0 deaths (couple close calls) but...no badge because I didn't set the "no temp powers" Much sadness and angry feelings arose.

    So happy to finally have this badge on EI....afterwards I figured out how long I've been trying to get the badge. The badge came out in Issue 11....Issue 11 came out Nov. 27 (28th?), 2007. So 2 yrs, 1+month, 2.5 hours later and I finally have the badge!

    Again thanks to all who were apart of this!

    P.S. Also glad that when I was originally looking for the last person/pickup person to join us I was sending out /tells to see if they'd want to join. One person said, "how long does it take?" I replied back, "1 hour...but to be on the safe side, 1.5 hours" He replied back, "oh no ty then..I have a dinner date tonight so I don't want to ruin it/rush it." Glad he said that...2.5 hours is a bit later than 1.5 (granted 20+ mins was waiting for Gray Banshee but still )
  13. I got about 6"+ or so here about 30 mins south of Richmond, VA. So nice I love snow...

    And yes, add the typical "southerners have no clue how to drive/what to think when snow comes/is mentioned" comment here

    I still fondly remember one night (years ago when I was in high school still) it was snowing/going to snow and it did...woke up the next morning and there is barely enough snow to cover the grass on the front lawn and no snow on the roads/driveways (no ice either from what I remember) and they closed down school, (This was huge just because I went to a private school and they usually didn't close down school...maybe this is why)....by around noon all the snow was melted and it was probably a good 40-60 degrees outside...sunny and warm. I was enjoying it!

    Shoveled the driveway with my dad....good times.

  15. This is a nice gesture but one that I won't be taking any advantage of. My home is at Liberty and only have 1 free slot on it atm (can buy more slots but don't/can't right now). I wish we could move free slots to a server of our choice.

    The only reason I'd see me using this free service was for the Passport badge but...looks like that won't happen.

    Edit: Actually I think I will transfer one of my characters. I have a villy that I accidentally mis-typed/spelled his name...so now I can transfer him to a random server, create that same name on my home server and then transfer the real toon back, get a free rename token and take out the extra "i" that I have in the toon's name hooray!

    hehe...I remember when I was lvl'ing my Fire/EA Dom. up (about 2 or so months ago) and maybe around lvl 23 or so I had all salvage slots/inventory filled on the toon. I was looking at what I had salvage wise, all spiritual essences, spell scrolls, ancient bones, ancient artifacts, etc....I was like, "gold mine!" So I went to the BM and looked at all the prices (last 5 bids) for 'em all and was so sad....I think the highest I got for anything was like 5 or 10k. Such a huge difference between villy and hero side markets hehe.

    Edit: I also will chip in on the "no one puts stuff up for bid because no one buys" logic. I know I've had plenty of 'good' recipes (ranging from lvls 20-40) that I've put up for bid for really cheap (like...5 influence/infamy) and have let those sit for days....even weeks....no one bought them. So after a while I never even bother with putting them up...they never sell and even if they do they'd sell for less than what I could get at the NPC vendor. *shrugs*

    If you need salvage, best way to get it is to run AE missions and just do salvage rolls.
  17. I'll be due for the 66 month reward soon (in a day or two I think) and would like more storage...

    However I do agree with others that maybe once the 6 yr mark hits, stop with every 3 months and just do a vet reward every year...I mean I am a loyal customer...but...*shrugs* I don't know...in one hand I'd love to be 'rewarded' by getting cool powers like a tp power that allows me to travel to any zone/mission every 5 mins but...having that as a vet power might upset some...

    Maybe for the 6 yr. reward (or 7 yr) they'll give us first wave beta invites for CoH 2!
  18. I'd love more people to come to play with us....I do wish there was more advertisements for the game though as well. It's been really quiet lately (okay the last year or two for me since most SGmates have left...no hard feelings..just got burned out from the game).

    I don't see a huge deal with giving in-game items for getting friends/others to sign-up for the game. Like someone said above, if you really want those in-game items, talk your friend into signing up for a month in the game, and take him/her out to lunch once or twice to make up for it...ta-da, you get items and they didn't spend any money (per se).

    Unfortunately all my friends have already tried the game and...uh...yeah...don't really care to play it again. Then there are my other friends but they're not computer gaming people so...

    I agree with Bill here, I have only ever done all the RWZ contacts/story arcs once and that was with my fire/earth assault dominator...and Vanguard was easy...I mean...no issues whatsoever. *shrugs*

    Worst Mobs Ever.

    Most have hit the most annoying mobs to me already...but I'll touch on 'em a bit.

    Longbow: Yeah, pretty easy going early to mid levels...then in the high 30s/low 40s (?) that's when they go from 'meh' to "grr" (especially villy side since that is mainly who you fight). The stacked res grenades are really, really annoying....and painful. The other two things that I hate about the Lt. is the beanbag attack and the -res grenade. For some reason their res grenade has a small hold that is attached to the grenade. Whenever I'm on a 'squishy' with no mez protection I always get mezzed either by the stupid beanbag or the 'hold' from the res grenade. Wish Trick Archery had the hold part attached to Disruption Arrow... >_>

    That reminds me of Wyvern. Them and the Red Caps are quite painful...especially when there is more than 3 of them around attacking you. Not only do they hit relatively hard but they shoot/attack so fast....and have a very long range for their attacks it seems.

    Of course you have the Tsoo Sorcerers and Vahz in general. I really would like to see the Tsoo and Vahz in the later levels in the game...once you get to the 30s/40s the Tsoo Sorcerers wouldn't be so bad...

    Scrapyarders/Demolionists like others have said is almost a death-knell for MMs. I remember a long time ago (2 years?), I joined a sg team with my lvl 30 (not sure of lvl) Ninja/DM MM...I was sk'ed up and we were doing a mission with all scrapyarders....almost every single mob that we fought, at least 3-4 ninjas died every time....yeah...I kind of stopped summoning them after a while and just used Dark Miasma... >_<

    CoT: The NSDLs/ghosts are truly a pain...yes I always go for them first (or the Behemoths if they are in there instead)...but still the big -tohit toggle that they have is really painful...especially for lower lvls. And as others have pointed out, Earth Thorn Casters as well as Ruin Mages are just evil. Ruin Mages may not seem much but I did a posi TF a few months ago and...yeah, that was kind of painful...especially when there is more than 1 in the group you're fighting. 2 Dispersion Fields stacked on them/other CoT mobs, plus 2 Earthquakes....ouch..good bye tohit....

    KoA are a pain mainly because the caltrops and they have good perception (can see through stealth/invis)...so harder to 'stealth' missions with them in it.

    Malta are annoying because of the 1 minute long stun durations...among other things.

    Nemesis: Don't really care for 'em....I hate how their Vengeance stacks...if it didn't stack then I wouldn't mind it so much....but grr...

    Speaking of stacking...Night Widows...yeah...they're a pain and not 'terrible' per se...but the Smoke Grenade is really, really, really annoying. The most annoying thing is that they can stack it by themselves.

    DE: Yeah, don't care for 'em either but don't fight them too often so it's not too bad (have been playing villies lately). But yes...it's very bad/annoying when there are multiple Cairns...oh look my attack that usually does 400 damage is now doing....40.... x_x

    Council: The only mob that bothers me in this faction/group is the Warwolves...it's their fast running speed, and like someone said above, their ability to run away, come back and one-shot a minion (as a MM) or do good/decent damage on you.

    Rularuu: The eyes have it.... >_> I really wanted to be mean while all the AE farming was going on and have some 'fun' with people. I was thinking of making an AE mission and title it "awesome xp farm!" or something similar and just have all Rularuu eyes in it (with maybe the green hami mitos healing them...or some mob healing them). And just go around and broadcast, "LFM for eye farm/xp". Ah well, not doing that....'farming has stopped in the AE' (for the most part).

    And one quick nod to the Chief Plasma Scientist(s) for Crey...I think you only see him/them in one mission...but I remember doing the mission on my MM on a small team and that CPS just totally burninated my minions and us...wow...fire powers that always caused a burn patch....not fun. :P
