Do you want the game to be finished? I, for one, find that the last 14 Issues have continually added new, enjoyable content to the game, and have no desire to see the supply of new material ended.

Brutes have a nearly infinite capacity for offensive buffs. Tanks do not.

Tanks and Brutes have the same cap on overall defense/resistance after buffs, don't they?

Therefore, on a team with seven buffers and one Brute/Tank, the Brute has more flexibility than the Tanker.

Where I'm from, a bodycheck is a rushing slam performed with the head lowered and the elbows up to shield it, which allows you to chain it into a headbutt Capoeira-style. Which isn't quite the same as copping a feel.

Still, if you'd prefer, that option IS available, for a limited time only. Which is until Sydney b shows up.

To me, the glaring problem with Tank vs Brutes is this:

Would you rather have three brutes or three tanks? Tanks fulfill a limited role, rather than additive (DPS) or multiplicative (Most support).

Congratulations! Now go do a proper martial art where you hit each other. Preferably without those wimpy pads.

Actually, I sort of wished I'd looked into jujitsu at some point. The styles I've studied were both fairly light on grappling, which while limited for self-defense, is a good way to restrain someone without beating them into a pulp.

My DM/SD Brute is nasty, and in a recent ITF, outperformed a bunch of better IO'ed SS/WP Brutes. The high defense + high resistance + self heal of SD combined with the surprisingly large offense boost from AAO/SCharge makes DM/SD a vitriolic combo.

Especially at full fury.

My thoughts, not sure if others have already said it and in the event they did well I didn't read the whole thread, is that magic relates to the paranormal. Hellsing is sort of a paranormal dealing with vampires and such and it has seals featured. There's no doubt there's lots of WoD fans out there and magic probably suits them best. I myself made Seraph the first time as magic because I thought through that Circle of Thorns would be the most common encounter next to The Banished Pantheon. And since he himself is of demon-origin, Magic suited him. Of course I've gone to use natural on the BS/WP that will probably replace my BS/Regen.

Vampires?
Angels/Demons?
Magicians?
Time-traveling confused fantasy characters?
Cultists?
The possessed?
Those using magical artifacts?
Ghosts?

All these, just to name a few, would suit the magic origin, and many would not fit properly under the other categories.

Whats the "wrong content" or "too quick"? No one knows.
It's a minefield.
And this has seen a lot of Veterans leave.
The community is in disarray, and any of the bigger events, Hami raids etc, are unlikely to be seen for a while (because the veterans who organised them are gone)
most of the smaller servers don't have enough players to form decent teams, so you'll need to rely on your supergroup and friends list for teaming
which comes full circle back to, most of them just left, so theres noone there either.
(And forget about PvP it's been empty for a while)

I'd say wait a month, then hopefully equilibrium will have been restored, of course by that time, you'll be able to make the choice between this, Champions Online or the Marvel MMORPG.

The "you'll get banned" thing is crap. Nobody I know has gotten banned. All of them have farmed a bit, most of them have even run some Rikti meow farms. Everyone knows what not to do; some people have trouble realizing that the rules aren't there to be broken.

I've been able to get teams regularly at a number of levels, without my SGs help (my SGs are generally no help, since most of my alts aren't in one). I've done paper missions and AE missions and story arcs and TFs/SFs lately.

There are whiners, there always are. The AE has shaken things up some, but in my opinion, it doesn't hurt to have a line between the OMGLVL50MUSTGRIND4EVA people and those who enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

None of my "veterans" have left. We're still good here. Just had a nice RP session last night with one of my older characters. Both mine and the other bloke had our "Celebrant" badges up, meaning the characters had been around back at the first anniversary. Now it's the 5th. Both the players and the characters had been around for years.

To play? Brute. Brutish Brutal Brutality is my cup of tea. Full fury means attacks slotted for recharge and accuracy hit regularly, fast, and hard.

To have on a team? Eh, probably a Brute, simply because it's so easy to cap defense and resistances. Corrs/Defs/MMs/Trollers are the dominant ATs in this game. Damage + Things to Make More Damage and Longer, when stacked, makes for a LOT more damage.

Redside teams steamroll not because Brutes can't herd, but because the teams do more damage. It isn't worth gathering spawns together because the ideal CoV team leapfrogs groups with no slowdown. An all-defender team in CoH works the same way. Kill, don't rearrange. Why waste time lining them up just so they can die pretty?

And there's always new and exciting ways to approach existing content, like naked ITF runs.

Which aren't nearly as creepy as that sounds.

RP community is as good as ever. Stick to Virtue and you'll be fine. PvP isn't my thing, can't answer that. PvE is the same as ever; tactically fluid, lots of mobs, and with the AE, even more enemy types to challenge your ability to adapt.

I don't think they closed any servers. I'd recommend starting a new character from scratch, though, just so you don't miss anything good.
