About 3 years or so ago, my husband made a character he named Shirtless Lass. Now, costume-wise, she was wearing the "sporty top" in black on pinkish skin. She was not actually shirtless in the topless sense. I told him not to name her that, but he persisted. 8 levels later, he was stuck in a mission and the GM who came decided his name was inappropriate, and generic'd it.
While my husband was upset, he sent in the requested 3 "better" names, and the character's name was changed.
Meanwhile, I think Johnny NoPants is still around.
So, whatever the GMs decide, no matter how inconsistent or seemingly unfair, is what you have to do. -
So whoever said the Crey Clone Map is history just meant now. When we did the actual run of my arc, the glowy was halfway in a floor, but clickable.
Hopefully, it's just a matter of them fixing the maps/spawns, and then putting the maps back in.
Seeing as how the Crey Hero Lab map seemed to cap at level 32, it didn't strike me as something farmers like? But since I don't farm, I don't know. All I know is the "Holy Cow!" reactions from the players (and characters) I made the arc for, when they opened the doors to the pod room and saw several battles of NPCs happening. Total chaos. -

The Unique/Crey Clone Lab map is history as of today.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah man! Now I gotta rework an entire arc to figure out how NOT to include that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did a developer say this? Where's the post they say it in? If it's true, then I may as well just delete that mission arc, which is about Crey creating people. -

Meanwhile my story is ruined with no advance warning, no way to prepare, and no way of knowing whether I should rewrite the last mission or wait this inanity out.

I'm doing the "wait this out" and will make another arc for my friends, in the meantime. -

What they can do is make it more obvious what's going on. When you click PLAY on an invalid arc it looks like it works, but you don't actually start the arc. The system should tell the player that the arc is invalid, and then notify the author of the problem.
The invalidated arcs should then be "grayed out" or otherwise be made inactive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen to this. Notification and greying would be better than everything on hold. -
A list of the maps removed would be nice. Even nicer would have been warning of the maps that they knew were being taken away. And also nice would be a dev reply of whether they're gone for temporary or gone for good.
I'm hoping the Crey Hero Lab was a spawn point issue and not an exploit, because it really fit the story I had written. -
Thanks for the heads-up too. My arc is broken now, because I needed the Crey Pod People Map, and it's no longer there.
Since the story won't make sense without that final pod room, I can't really "fix" it, and I unpublished it. -
Arc Name: Counting Electric Sheep
Arc ID: 118145
Faction: Neutral
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Ellis
Difficulty Level: Medium (has an EB/AV)
Synopsis: Tired of spending millions in R&D on Artificial Intelligence, only to have their AI become sentient and escape, Crey decides to do something about it. Their plan to retrieve all their lost AI could have bad consequences for everyone!
Estimated Time to Play: Depends. Can be stealth solo'd in 10 minutes by capable archetype or can be 90 minutes in a full team RPing out the story.
This is an arc I wrote for a special RP event my SG was having, but it's not specific to the SG. It's supposed to be a fun, somewhat tongue-in-cheek deal. The second mission is level 32, so it's not going to be one of your big XP earners. But if you enjoy sci-fi and computer history, you might like this. -

Just as a thought for next year, it'd be nice if there was a chance of a big inspiration as a treat, say, 10% for a large, 20% for a medium, 70% for a small? With all the fighting, the inspirations are actually getting used pretty fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be great for next year. That way the third tiers are still part of the event but not ubiquitous. This year, aside from gathering 20 sets of costume salvage to get my SG through the upcoming year, I have no impetus to Trick or Treat. I used to do it in order to get the 3rd tier insps for doing Master STFs and so forth.
With the griefing, you know it's bad when I decided to ToT in Warburg on a level 40 character and there was far less grief than in PI. -
Color me disappointed that my love character (who is male) can't get the hearts pattern for his chest.
I guess the wedding stuff is okay, although they should really drop the price if it's just 6 costume options. -
Yeah, Megajoule is one of my favorite writers. No matter what the title of the thread, if MJ wrote it, I read it.

[u]Name[u]: Project Rebirth
[u]Currently Recruiting[u]: We generally have our eyes open, and we do have room, but we don't aggressively recruit.
[u]RP Level[u]: RP-Heavy, although we have a few members who don't. OOC comments are expected to be in some kind of brackets denoting it as OOC. Our private global channel is entirely OOC.
[u]Theme/Concept[u]: Project Rebirth is a supergroup whose members believe in redemption and the ability for anyone to change. As such, they don't normally employ lethal methods. OOCly, we turn a blind eye to the graphics. The fire powers magically do not cause permanent injury, radiation has no long-term effects, you hit them with the flat of your katana, etc. If you're used to Hero System, the majority of the Project Rebirth characters have a 15 point Code vs Killing disadvantage.
[u]Activity[u]: Activity varies depending on member schedules and Real Life always comes first. There are about 15 unique players who are steadily on, and another eight who pop on when they can. The time of the most activity is about 7pm to 11pm Eastern time during weeknights.
[u]Requirements for Membership[u]: Roleplaying, maturity and an adherence to courtesy and policy. We generally wait outside a mission door until all team members have arrived, and the mission-holder is the only one to click clues in missions unless they say otherwise. For joining, we generally want to play with someone a few times in a team before inviting to the SG. Policies and quirks are listed in Info for Applicants.
[u]Leadership[u]: Quickshot (Project Rebirth), Psychosoma (Starforge), Midnight (Task Force Defiant) and Fiver (Sanction Omega)
[u]In-Game Contact(s)[u]: @Ellis
[u]Out-of-Game Contact(s)[u]: Send a PM to Ellis on these boards
[u]URL[u]: http://project-rebirth.ipbhost.com/
We had to disable the ability of Guest accounts to post, due to spammers. To register an account, PM Ellis here, so I can have an account set up. The IPBoard is a bit strange, so to see posts that are older, you have to go into a section and at the bottom, scroll the "the last 30 days" to earlier. Most of our activity is in-game, not on the board.
[u]Coalition(s)[u]: There are a few other SGs coalitioned into the Project, which were once used as plots, but which now serve a more functional purpose. Each of the four SG bases is functional, and has 2-4 teleporters, hospital and storage. Starforge, Sanction Omega, and Task Force Defiant.
[u]Other Details[u]: Project Rebirth was formed in December 2003 and was the first RP Supergroup in CoH Beta in February 2004. -

Ok day 9 of this gencon flu thing, i'm about ready to curl up in a corner and die. My lungs apparently want to come out and see what's going on around me. However my voice has never been sexier hehe. Anywho, to all those that are still sick I feel your pain but there is gaming to do and nothing shall stand in the way of that!!!<cough cough, sigh>
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm starting to finally kick it (thanks to Mucinex), but I still have the Suzanne Pleshette voice thing going on. But yeah, Gencon is still worth it, even with the plague. -
Those with good immune systems, make sure to feel blessed. I have something wrong with mine, so I always get sick, especially when around so many folks. Even with all the Purell, Wet Ones, etc.. and I don't want to go around wearing a surgical mask.
Meanwhile, I brought Jolly Jongleur's player home from Gencon (he's staying with us during his US visit) and he's healthy. -
This year's Gencon plague is particularly virulent. Usually, I shake it within a week. Not this year. :P

I wish to apologize in advance if I offend anyone, but I am now a 'smitten kitten' to the extremely beautiful woman in one of the photos (far right in photo link below).

That wouldn't happen to be you, would it Ex?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's one of my SG-mates. She has a longtime boyfriend, though, so she's not single.
Meanwhile, yeah, there were a lot of long beards at the Hard Rock. I shaved mine off, but managed to stay out of Ex Libris' sights. -
I had a great time at the Hard Rock. Alas, I got a really bad cold and couldn't attend the Meet and Greet, but maybe if there's one next year.
-
I've been to the Alcatraz in Indy. It's not all that large. One year, ten of us from Virtue reserved the little private room upstairs. No wonder it got filled up so fast.. on a Saturday night during Gencon, you can't even get into many of the restaurants, everything is so crowded.
For the meet and greet to fit, you'd need the entire restaurant for those hours, just for whoever signed up. No walkins would fit, IMO. -
I am a definite fly person. Even my scrapper and tank fly. The "go get a snack" is nice, but there are some very great moments I have, in-game, when I get to fight a flying opponent. Then, it's very superhero.. my flying tanker and a Paragon Protector duking it out in the sky.. My scrapper and a Wing Sky Raider or Sky Skiff.
I suck with the other travel power controls, too. SS is cool, but I tend to slam into stuff. SJ and lag is killer. Teleport is ok, but I wind up taking hover with it. -
In a case like that, you will probably need to get a lawyer to make a contract so you can actually use your own character in your book. This is the reason I don't go for any contests putting my characters in the comics or immortalizing them in a CoH fashion.
-
That's an interesting nomination list for Forum Girl. I vote for Rowr_.
Can I be nominated as a Forum Guy, please? -
I did a stalker in CoV Beta, but my favorite PvP moment was after it was live, and I was in my level 50 energy/energy blaster. I don't really go out of my way for PvP, and only visit the zones to do the missions or the "zone thingy".
I was in Bloody Bay because I want a Shivan pet. They don't help me much, but they're so cute and adorable and blue. So, I go around and collect the Meteor stuff. I land at one of the meteors, and an MM with his pack comes after me.
This being Virtue, it was RPed. "Go, my minions! Kill Quickshot!"
I two-shotted him, at which point all his pets fell before they had even gotten to where the robots could be in range to shoot me.
But it's not like I have "Completely slotted with Centrioles." in my bio. Poor MM. I did the rest of the meteors unaccosted. -

His one posted test involved using the broken version of Invincibility. He also completely glosses over the fact that when buffed, any AT can Tank, so what then is so special about Tanks?
[/ QUOTE ]
The goal of the game is to make sure there isn't an ideal team composition. So, yes, a Scrapper, with buffs, can tank, but not as well as a Tanker. Why? Because 1) a Tanker starts with higher resistances/defenses and 2) he has Punchvoke and thus can manage the aggro better.
[/ QUOTE ]
If that was the goal, the game design isn't proper now. When I saw Statesman in person and mentioned that my SG had no tankers in it (we didn't aim for that, just nobody made any), he told me "You're going to need them."
After ED, any time we've had a tanker along, they've been a liability. The defenders have had to spend everything just keeping them up, the controllers manage the aggro far better and as a blaster, I've had to actually jump into melee so that the tanker doesn't get dropped in 3 seconds.
I have a tanker of my own that I don't even play now. She has less defense/resistance than my scrapper and nowhere near the damage output. -
While I love the Clockwork (my favorite villains in the game), the article is revisionist history that no longer fits the story arc clues.
My nitpicks are: The Clockwork King being in his twenties, yet he somehow has this long-time anger at the older engineering establishment for sneering at him all these years. Also, mechanical keys are very, very old and I could see a man in his 50s using them, but what college kid in 1999-2001 would even know to use those? Or how?
Nitpick 2: Blue Steel was added into King's Row after they needed a trainer there. (King's Row used to have nothing in it.) Also, every character, male, female or cow, "reminds me of the vigilante who crushed my body and left me to die." Bovinity, the Cow of Justice looked nothing like Blue Steel. Nor do any other of my characters.
Other than the revisionism and the inconsistency with the actual game world, it's pretty good. -

Nicely done.

Ya know... I know **WHY** Lord Recluse hates Statesman so much... States is an in-law and he's sleeping with Lord Recluse's sister. Worst possible combination one can have. Everyone knows that in-laws are one of the most pure forms of evil on the planet... on top of dating your friend's sister... Man... I'd be pissed too.

So.. gah. In the Praetorian missions, it says that Dominatrix serves Tyrant, even in that way. So, Tyrant is doing his granddaughter?
The goggles! They do nothing!!!
