Quote:Yeah, Posi and WW are both still doing their thing...Wow thats interesting, when did BABS leave?
Is Positron still around? I remember him handing reigns over to War Witch. Is anyone from the original team really still around?
Not sure who is original original, but plenty still in the mix... JLove and Ghost Falcon, although I'm not even sure when they both came in...
However, they do seem to be up to something else over at Paragon Studios that they're not telling us about...
Quote:And did BABS just disappear or was there a post made? How exactly did it go?
It was a little weird... The change was leaked elsewhere and was later confirmed.
Paragon Studios took the stance of not discussing details of such situations.
Lovers of Power Customization, such as myself, owe much to BAB for his efforts and drive to get that done!
Don't look at me though... I've never had an inside track on any of this sort of stuff... Not even when I'm in the middle of it! -
Welcome home!!
Yeah, the years have been pretty damn kind to this game and to us players!
Nice post! -
No idea if this would help your current situation/funk, Nyx, but...
Sometimes that sort of fun can be won back by intentionally creating a design/concept that is very un-super, hehe.
Make some guy... no powers... just willing to tough it out.
Or some wimpy genius with faulty gadgets.
Some such character concept that you might enjoy being a low level nothing more than usual.
Again... don't over-think any of it though... that's what's squashing your good time.
You either stop trying or try something different! -
Awww...
Haha...
I fear that the men in white coats are hot on your trail, Steelclaw!!
Bob and weave!!! Dash and juke!!! Serpentine paths, Steelclaw... SERPENTINE!!! Go go!!

I apologize for not offering anything helpful with this post...
(although, I suppose that could be debatable)
Sometimes that abbreviation for this game in thread titles and posts just works to an extra special degree towards making me snicker like some idiotic grade school punk...
It doesn't happen often, but, this is one of those rare occasions where I feel like a right out immature git!
Thanks!!
(And... welcome back and best of luck!!!!) -

You know, I like this thread, because it is not about placing blame on the game, so much as just talking about the state the player has reached through the game and their own personal preference...
Just wanted to mention that!
Honestly, Nyx, while it can sound a bit harsh, the "don't do what you don't enjoy" does actually apply. Not necessarily in the way you took it, but just in the very broad general sense.
It includes logging in and staring at your character select screen, hehe.
Some times, we all need a break.
It may only be a few days, it may be longer.
Don't push it.
Either log on with your uber 50s and enjoy it!
Or log on with lower alts and enjoy it!
Or don't log in and enjoy something else!
The problem you're coming across still comes down to enjoyment.
If you're not enjoying playing the 50s, because you're not feeling any of the available content that you can find...
If you're not enjoying playing the lower characters because you feel like there's too much of a grind ahead of you or because they just aren't as fun as your higher level incarnates...
If you don't currently find enjoyment in making a new character, trying out a new approach, finding a new team, finding something else to get up to with the game...
You may need to take a break, mate!
However, I do run into similar spills myself.
I find that I tend to rotate (unplanned) around different activities that I might enjoy at different times within this game.
Recently, I have fallen in love with turning on the game and soloing 4 or so missions with my favorite character.
I'm not doing it for any other reason than I enjoy it. It's kind of a quiet role-play combined with video game action fun for myself. It's always been a major fail-safe with this game for me.
Sometimes I find that playing with a certain group of people will rekindle my mojo.
Sometimes, it is avoiding other people.
Sometimes, if I realize my game mojo is missing, I find myself falling in love with editing bases... playing in the character creator (okay, I do this all the time any way)... Writing AE missions/arcs... Just flying around, exploring, watching, without a care... Tackle certain little (or big) goals that I've never accomplished (either ever or just on a per character basis)... Sometimes I find my enjoyment playing with Demo Editing (it's somewhat of an abstract way to enjoy the game and I'm sure wouldn't work for everyone... but I sometimes feel like this is my favorite way to enjoy the game, haha)... You may find it in role-play, in conquest, in achievement, in exploration... And that thrill can come from any one of those (or none of those) at different points in time and while in different states of mind.
I highly suggest letting go... don't think about it... Let your inner fun-detector guide you... -
When dead means dead doesn't have to mean dead!

Hehe, I like this thread!
I seem to have internally pronounced Yydr correctly, but I am an alien myself.
I like the name Llydia. The name Lydia has a special place for me as well.
I have to ask... Are you still in contact with the Lydia from your past??
As for me... I haven't renamed my global nor any of my characters.
My global is Zethustra. A name I made up for my first character I created on the free trial. I really don't play that character much (in fact, it was made on a different server than I started playing on once I subscribed... then I finally remade Zethustra on my home server and I always use that character to edit my villainside base).
I thought about changing my global name for quite a while, but... as I tend to do... I thought about it a lot more... and thought about it some more... and by the time I realized that I hadn't come to a decision, I noticed how a lot of my in-game friends used my global somewhat affectionately and I figured I may as well leave it.
My main problem was that I was Electric-Knight here (and most often in-game), @Zethustra in global and Nomadder on my guild forums...
I thought I should consolidate a little... but... meh... who wants to be simple anyway?
When I first joined the forums, I made my forum handle "Doc_Manhattan" or some such variant (I had just finished re-reading Watchman [while waiting for my CoH CDs to come in the mail!])... But I think I changed it after one post, hehe.
Then again... some of my professional projects have had to deal with people misspelling, mispronouncing or just misrepresenting the names...

Quote:Haha, I must be too much of a pragmatist...What's also funny is when you decide to roll up some new characters with friends, and this happens:
"Where are you? We're by the statues."
"I'm still in the character creator."
"We're running a sewer team; you want to come?"
"I'm still in the character creator."
"Dude we're level 12 already."
"I'm still in the character creator."
I either have a character already made or just don't join people on such things...
Although, what does happen often is that my wife and I both say we're going to play...
She logs in and plays, while I dabble in the costume creator for hours and never actually log in...
Quote:Where else can you make a mad pirate cheerleader zombie robot clown ninja vampire werewolf goth punk scientist catgirl? It's awesome!!!
... -
Indeed, hehe... I have 2,000 saved costumes and counting...
Sometimes I feel like I subscribe to this awesome character creator program that also has a game attached to it!!
Fortunately... I really enjoy the whole game as well, haha. -
I pretty much try and figure things out with a case-by-case approach.
Any rule I could come up with... I may find I'd prefer to ditch, based on the person/people I may be experiencing things with. -
Hey!
Happy Birthday, David!
Hope it's been a great one. Painting characters at work... sounds like it was a good start! -

Quote:HAHA! We knew it couldn't be a typo!!Well done for figuring out that I hadn't made a typo and that it was actually to announce the grand debut of the Paragon Studios Band!
Well, as soon as we've figured out what music we're playing. Somehow nobody seems to be in favour of doing K-Pop as I had suggested...
And... I think WW was planning on hiring me to help this, right, right?
Drats!! The job has been filled already!! -

You guys (and gals) are doing it all wrong...
You heard it here first...
Freedom launches in August!!!!

Nice
I had zero crashes or lock-ups during my play on Friday and Sunday... But I haven't been experiencing any such issues prior to this either. -
Hehe, since helpful responses have been delivered, I shouldn't feel bad posting what came into my mind upon reading the thread title...
"One does not simply walk into Beta." -
And here I thought this was some kind of necro post, hehe!!
I feel bad though... I feel like there's some bad news behind this or coming after this or something...
... Like there's some sort of catch...
Haha... Because we all know you don't just want us to have a fun good time and all...
Maybe the snow... is made... out of PLAYERS!!!
-
My initial reaction, upon seeing him, was that he could probably use his fists to hurt you well enough.
And, for some reason, I could see him carrying a shield.
So... Super Strength, Martial Arts or Street Justice plus Shield Defense...
If you'd like a shield... And, since you mentioned the Roman and Imperious thing, since the Cimerorians are pretty famous for their shields in this game, that could make it an even better fit.
Anyway... I really like the character's look! Simple and iconic with a rather brutish streak.
I could even see going with the manhole cover shield for him, if it doesn't seem silly. Or maybe a big chunk of rock. "Eh, lemme pull a chunk of earth out of the ground to use as a shield... why not".
Maybe he's superbly strong, but without much inherent toughness, hehe.
So, he has those shoulder pieces and a shield. -
Quote:My point was obvious, yes, but still an important one.Obviously. That was just my personal preference.
What's your point?
Saying that you think that people can be over-touchy about it isn't understanding of that difference. There's nothing touchy about not wanting to know anything about something because they enjoy discovering it during the process of watching, reading, listening, experiencing of the event. That's how they enjoy it... There's no in-between to be touchy about. It's sort of an on or off, yes or no type situation. It seems pretty simple to respect.
And I only say this since you asked. It's nothing to get into an argument about.
Respect differences. Everything is cool.
