I try to add in bits of levity and disclaimers of understanding the opposite side and that it's not important and how I'm fine either way and go into long-winded examinations of things from both sides, while sometimes contradicting myself and often times all of these over and over again, risking great redundancy and always with a further smattering of humor (often pointed at myself)... and the end result is often times getting ignored!
And hopefully a few laughs here and there for my fellow forumites.

I say, keep at it... you can only get better... or worse, really... Haha... I suppose things could stay exactly the same as well.

    Happy Solstice!

It was raining in New York like it was a summer storm! And all while I was driving in very dark, out of the way, wooded places that I'd never been to before, haha! Very fun!

As much as I love the night... I'm welcoming the days getting longer!!

Hope everyone has a great solstice!

I'm all for empowerment and stopping exploitation... but this character just looks like she's being a bit coy.
Some people (elves included) are that way, ya know... and some people (elves too) enjoy a bit of provocation and I don't see this example as being bad.

I'm not into drawn females (nor males) being suggestive or sexy or anything, but this doesn't really come off that way to me so much as just... How teen girls act!
This elf girl is a great magnitude less provocative than Britney Spears in her prime...
She's not even much different than the original Smurfette.

Whether it is appropriate or not for adults... Just remember than Teens are sexual in nature.

  10. I'm hunting for those panels now, haha...
TV Tropes has a bit about it in "Pass The Popcorn" trope (under examples: comicbook):

    Quote:
In the JLA vs. the Crime Syndicate of Amerika arc of JLA, the Justice League's evil counterparts from a Mirror Universe (the Crime Syndicate of Amerika) end up in the "good" universe while the Justice League takes on the Void Hound, a mechanical creature easily capable of destroying planets. True to form, instead of helping out, they relax in comfortable chairs provided by the Power Ring (the alternate universe's Green Lantern) and eat popcorn... also provided by the Power Ring. As he says, "It's kind of tasteless, but hey, it's lo-cal."
  11. All of your replies were the same gut reaction I was having (while some were saying "no", my gut was basically saying "where there's a will...").

    !! !!
    Possible precedence!

    Thanks for the replies!

    Haz, it might taste minty!
  12. Besides, some of those glaciers are melting pretty fast!
  13. Okay, the thread title is a bit of a joke (but I promised my friends that this is what I'd name it)...
The real question is... Is there any precedence of a power ring's energy being ingested? If so, did it provide sustenance?

It is a completely silly premise, but... While I was at a wedding over the weekend, a conversation turned into explaining the Green Lantern's powers to someone who wasn't familiar... To which she asked if he could make a bagel and eat it... And, amidst the laughing, none of us could say with certainty one way or the other!

Of course, precedence is king in the comic-book world, so that's my first question... beyond that... I can't say whether or not the residual energy from a power ring construct could give off the same beneficial properties as an item of food (or if it could avoid giving terrible atom-smashing negative results).

So, could the Green Lantern create a bagel construct that could be eaten/ingested? Could it be digested/supply sustenance? Would it be harmful?
    Ridiculous minds want to know!

Not rewriting everything, but taking those elements and making them explode into fruition which leads to new adventures, stories and threats.
That seems like the way to do it.
I don't mind if the mysteries we've had all this time come to completion without me being a part of it, but I hope that the new takes are based around those things and go from there with me taking part.
Hopefully not just replacement, rewrite, redux!

  16. Huh, I totally missed this thread and posted about the hat last night!
I hadn't seen it before and thought it was a new item and just hadn't gotten the SKU number yet (happens sometimes with the late night market releases).

    Anyway...
Yeah, the Female's hair is affected by both the primary and secondary color options, but the Male and Huge hair is only the secondary color (which also controls the trim). I did notice an oddity on the Huge model though, in that a tiny dot above the right ear shows the primary color (the hat's main color).

Beyond implementing more options for hats and their coloration (and hairstyles), there must be a good formula/guideline to follow for hat and hair coloration. They keep dishing them out in different ways.
It seems to me that they should always separate the hair color from any color affecting the hat.
The hair should not be pre-tinted at all.
And either the hat should be only one color or have a small element of pre-tinting with a dull and non-obnoxious color.
It does seem to be a situation where they can't entirely win though, as the pre-tinting of the hat trim is not exactly desirable either.

Of course, multiple hat options with each of those different ways to customize the hat would allow more flexibility.
If they could separate the hair and hat coloration... well, yeah...
    Anyway...

    Tri-Cornered Hat

Just checked out the store and I see a new Tri-Cornered Hat there (although, there's no SKU for it yet to purchase it).
It's your standard fare colonial hat and is available for all three gender model types.

For Males and Huge, the primary color is the primary color of the hat and the secondary color is the hair and trim of the hat.
For Females, the primary color also affects the hair color.

Although, on the Huge model, the primary color appears to affect a very small spot of the hair, just above the character's right ear.

There may be more new costume items... now that I've logged out, I realize that I didn't check many categories that may have included something that goes along with the hat. I was thinking it was just a one off on its own, but I could be wrong!
  18. I don't think that the problem exists that such a board would help "fix".

I think there's a great connection between the playerbase and the devs.
There may be differences, sure and nothing is perfect...

...But if you objectively analyze the understanding between most people's (personal and business) relationships and that from the relationships between the players and the Devs... you'd probably find the player-dev understanding to be quite above average.

It seems to be a pretty successful relationship to me.

Of course... the nasty home-wrecking publishers/marketing-teams always cause a ton of problems!

I believe that is what the OP was looking for and I've actually been meaning to set this up for myself as well.

I can't recall... can the game take binds with more than one Chord Key? I've thought about using ALT+CTRL+[number] and SHIFT+ALT and so on... Even though I don't think I could hit anything above the number 4 on those with one hand, hehe. I guess some people can't do ATL or CTRL + 0 with one hand though!
    /ends rambling
  20. So, if it was a Beavis and Butthead quote, it'd be okay?

I often think there's a simple aspect to a lot of these differences between people and it is simply differences between people.

While I completely understand hatred of overkill on analysis and, even worse, incorrect analysis... and maybe even worse still, formulaic educated over-analysis that is also often-times incorrect... Haha... And that these are all often annoying traits that some people develop in order to "impress" others and/or make them feel better about themselves (and all the same can be true about playing the "dumb but tough" guy or girl), sometimes it really is just about the differences between people and how some people's minds work different ways.
What I may find boring and irrelevant, others may find fascinating.
What I may have to work at or spend time in order to achieve, others may have that come much more quickly and/or naturally.

Like this post... Over-thinking, too much time spent on insignificant claptrap? Quick taps of the fingers as someone casually lets out their immediate thoughts in-between doing other things around the office or home?
    Who knows.
    Do I even know?
    Hmmm... Haha.

Back to my main point I was riffing on just before...
Some people have to work in order to find a certain style of comedy to be funny... While others only find that style of comedy funny... and others never will find it funny.
I just try not to judge them too harshly...
That and I don't hang out with them, regardless of how much beer they bring!

And who's to say that you and your friends aren't the fools for preferring beer over whatever discussions they'd start?
    It's a crazy world!

    I'm wondering the same thing.

If I recall correctly, we used to have previews, before we switch forums a long while ago... And it always annoyed me that I couldn't hover over the Dev Tracker links to see a preview like I could in other sections of the forums... Having the automatic preview is more preferable by me than zero preview!

    I can understand that!
Yeah, if they could add the usual preview via hover over, we could both be happy.

Those guys would be mortified to learn how many authors would say that the garbage the pompous intellectuals are spouting never even crossed their minds when they wrote theirs books, they just thought it was a cool story that people would enjoy.

Edit: and for clarification, that's not a jab at E-K. It's a general observation about people I've encountered in real life, not here.
Okay, sincerely, I am curious what you use to make the distinction between the pseudo-intellectual claptrap of which you speak and what I said in my earlier post (if you didn't classify it as such).

It's funny, because I am absolutely a mocker and anti-fan of the over-analysis (and, often times, completely untrue assumptions made) about other people's work.
Yet, I also enjoy what others may call "deeper" aspects of things. For me, it is just natural and immediate. Not something contrived to try and pass off as a greater.

As for the original Conan movie, while it is certainly overall just a fun action and adventure film, there is a great aspect of depth behind it. And that makes it far more fun for me than just a sword fight and leaping around.

I share your mentality about it, but I do know that the big exception/gorilla in the room called WoW grabbed a ton of players from the old mmorpg in a galaxy far far away. It pretty much decimated the population, luring players in with its smooth operation compared to SWG's buggy, not-smooth operation (I loved the game despite its bug filled bugginess, but it took a measure of patience greater than most people were willing to endure).

Other than the big killer that doesn't generally count called WoW, though, I don't know that it's ever happened.

    EDIT:
I mean, of course, there are many other factors that are involved in such things... and SWG endured on for years afterward (killing itself a few times more as it went), but there was zero question in witnessing a mass exodus when WoW came out and people who had been playing for a while left and never came back.
