Quote:THAT IS A COMPLETE LOAD OF NONSENSE!!I'm going to oppose the OP
no one should be fighting for things on the forums. Fighting breeds ill will and resentment, both in the people being fought and the people doing the fighting. People who fight for a cause get burnt out and upset.
advocating for your position is good.
Standing up for your community is good.
So, it's a fight you want!
It is far safer to fight on the forums than in steel caged pits with broken glass on the floors and whirling blades all around!
And it is far safer for innocent bystander children who are out of reach on the forums, but could easily be injured if you use a daycare center as your fighting arena.
No it doesn't.
No it doesn't, you tuna-breath booger-brain.
Quote:both in the people being fought and the people doing the fighting.
Rule # 67: Fire prevention suits must be warn at all times during a fight.
Only the losers. And fights are to prove that the losers' opinions don't matter. This is why fighting must be done.
Thank you.
You have lost the fight against my community of fighters.
I accept your submission, puny weakling, tuna-brained booger-breath silly-nose-face person.

Eeesh, I'm all for opening the options up to more people - and I know we're emotional creatures and all - but cut back on the melodrama, mate.
It only opens you up to greater criticism and damages the valid feedback.
You make some good points, but I'd back off a bit.
And, honestly (and I say this sincerely and with zero wish to offend), if that is the worst betrayal you have felt... you are a very lucky person. At the very least, let that be a positive spin for ya.
Remember, I'm with you on the overall opinion, but let's take a step back and reevaluate the importance of things.
I do understand, however, within the context of game/hobby/funplaytime that these things can be a downer.
EDIT: This post may not read nearly as friendly as I intended it. And, hey, no one needs to do as I say or anything, so be as emotional or dramatic or whatever you choose, as you wish. Just offering my sincere thoughts. -
People suggested similar ideas before Freedom went live.
I agreed with it then and I agree with it now.
Whatever they do, is the way it goes, so no big deal, but...
I just happen to think that holding costume additions (of the amount of options in there right now and the unique nature and quality of many of the pieces) is not as cool as having those options available to more players.
And I've been subscribed for around 4 years... But that's not long enough to have access to these rewards. Eh, I'm not enamored with that math, to be honest. -

Pardon the (hopefully humorous) interruption, but...
The thread title has made me imagine Samuel is asking for help with something along these lines...
I actually was going to mention that I have a Dark/Dark Brute and the element of being an entity that corrupts all things around it is one that I actually feel through the gameplay of those powersets.
It is a different sort of Brute experience (and may be better on Tanks and/or Scrappers, due to the Fury Bar), but the feel of it really sold my character concept through the game play that I experienced... and I love it when the playstyle of powersets actually accomplish that (my elec/elec blaster and mind/psi dom also both accomplish that extremely well).
The death shroud and cloak of fear and tentacles and absorption and syphon powers all really make my playtime on that character (a creature from a dimension of shadows... some may think of it as a demon of shadows - he's just a powerful Nexxu that has gained access to this dimension) play out very well to my imaginings of how the character behaves and effects foes.
Whether or not it'd prove goldy feeling, in terms of power, I can't say. I'd imagine it could just as much a any other powerset, but I am not a numbers guy.
I thought Shadow Maul may seem out of place, but it doesn't really. With the character's looks, the shadows and visuals, it just comes off as vicious. And Midnight Grasp works quite well.
Anyway, I also love a dark, corrupting female force... I imagine somewhat of the Ice Queen, but darker and about shadows and death instead of winter. -
Quote:Yeah, good list!50/50 face is asymmetrical
single mantle cape is asymmetrical
one robot arm is asymmetrical
gladiator and big skull shoulders are asymmetrical
tied belt is asymmetrical
the ancient pack has belts that are a thing on one side only
peg leg is asymmetrical
several chest detail chains and such are asymmetrical
it's hard to do a lot with it, but there asymmetrical pieces for almost everything if you look
The question, really, is why isn't there more of it?
It's not greatly important to me, but I've certainly seen it requested an awful lot, over the years, and I'm sue I'd be happy to have more asymmetrical options available. It can certainly add a nice touch to a character's look sometimes. -
Quote:That is good news that they can now correct that!I have an update regarding inconsistent dates for when your Paragon Point stipends are being awarded.
A fix was recently implemented so that for most VIP customers, Paragon Points should now be consistently awarded on your billing date. However, this fix may not apply in all cases, particularly if you were experiencing issues early on during the Freedom launch.
If you're still finding that the day you receive your stipend seems to be changing, please contact customer service, as they should now be able to permanently correct it for you.
I don't suppose there is any word on being able to get reward tokens upfront from prepaid subscriptions... but, please do keep it in mind! -
Quote:So, if someone wants to say something ridiculous, the key to making people believe it is to put a "never EVER" in front of it?Just as a public service announcement, performance is never EVER the deciding factor of what the devs will or will not do. The resources in question are development resources, not technical resources.
What nonsense is it to say that performance has zero factor in anything they will or will not design and create?
It absolutely bloody well does factor in!
That's a great idea, but, unfortunately, the toll it would have on network performance is too large.
Is there some further distinction to your "public service announcement" that makes your statement true?

Actually, I suspect it is the symmetry lobbyists in Washington.

No, that is Mr. T.

And with that said, that video's not bad at OH GOD THE TINA TURNER SEQUENCE. MAKE IT STOP. MAKE IT STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP....

It's also a bit like good ol' slang... you can pass it under some people's notice while those who catch it get it. -
Hah! Agreed!
I hate to say it, but (like all good villains) I think she looks better that way!
(I don't mean that as though you should change the costume... just sayin'... villains look cooler!)
My main almost works out well with it (in his nearly all black outfit) except that the goggles with reversed colors look bad. -

I need ear bleach...

I'm not convinced I don't need eye bleach as well...

I couldn't last very far into the KISS portion... And that Tina portion was... a bit awkward...

That KISS (disco KISS) song gets under my skin way too quickly...

The normal version... never mind this version...

Thanks.

I'm not sure if you missed it or if you were just going for the facts for fun, but I believe there was an implied wit to what Shismatrix posted (and I greatly appreciated it, by the way).
I'm not certain sarcasm is entirely the right descriptor, because I can understand liking dogs more due to their higher amounts of attacks on people... -
Yes, I am stalking you...
Quote:I had started typing something somewhat along these lines, but couldn't find the right words and gave up... But what you said right there is one of the big reasons why I love this studio and (maybe more importantly) quite possibly why the product has been as great as it has been....
There should never be a concern that we've got the "B" team working on one project over another. We're not a gigantic colossal studio with a seemingly endless supply of development staff. Each and every person hired here at Paragon is the "A" team. We're small enough of a studio that we can't afford to hire any less than the best.
...
I've always tended to be a lover of the smaller place that makes things with heart and spirit that you can even recognize clearly in their work. I've always gotten that impression from the City Of Heroes product and from the people I've met that work there (online and in person). It's a great thing! And it is vastly different than other companies that we don't need to bother dwelling on! -

I have not taken any time off and I am not only half way done tier 8. Am I missing something?
The problem was the whole conversion over into the new system.
I think (I may be remembering incorrectly) it takes about 3 years under the new system...
However, the conversion had people of three to four years still well outside of Tier 9.
I understand the hows and whys (they didn't want longer vets having far too many tokens right out out of the gate), but it feels like it was somewhat of a lousy position to experience the conversion from.
*in before the "it's better than waiting 7+ years as it would have been in the old system" reply* -
Hmm... If Arcanaville soon disappears for a long while, we might have confirmation that Paragon Studio's secret project is not a Pokemon facebook game!
-
Quote:Like that one? That's standard operating procedure when splitting a team up to begin work on a new project.
And to clarify, Angelxman81: They're not moving ALL the "big names" off CoH; this isn't like SOmE other studio that tends to leave skeleton crews on their existing MMOs in order to quickly pump out their next big game. -
Quote:He's not just the Community Manager... He's also one of the loonies.I knew what the Vault was.
Remember, before I was the CM, I played the game off and on for 7 years.
Also, good news about the VIP offerings being up for grabs some other way.
Just an aside to people who consider people that criticize the VIP sets being locked off as having entitlement issues... I think it is a reasonable criticism that the fancy sets they have held back within the VIP options are too fancy to be held back.
It's both positive feedback and negative feedback.
Sure, we can see it as great that they'd throw longtime vets (or large point buyers) such lovely bones... but it is also cutting off some really great and popularly desired options.
Whether that is super cool of them, a shrewd business move or possibly a mistake is for the ancient grazgul zemphlotts, and their infinite wisdom, to decide... Since beings of their kind never post here, we'll just have to argue about it amongst ourselves indefinitely.
Is it more of an entitlement issue to want something or more of an entitlement issue to feel as though their money and time earned something that's being kept away from the common riffraff? -
Quote:Thanks! I knew I felt too sure about that. I freely admit I was wrong to say it's never been stated!Matt Miller interview with Ten Ton Hammer:
Ten Ton Hammer: Moving on to the power sets then, some of those will be available for all players, but some will be unlocked through subscription or direct purchase only. How did you decide which of the power sets made the most sense to include on either side of that split?
Positron: It really is a matter of how much time and money we put into the set. Like the ones where we kind of went a little bit overboard on, in terms of animations and effects and tech to make the set work at all, those are going to be the premium sets that everyone is going to need to buy.
But things like Time Manipulation that we had the tech for, and we didnt need new tech, and the effects werent crazy, the animations werent crazy, but the end result is awesome. Youll be able to manipulate time on your enemies and friends so those are going to be for VIP players, but a free player can purchase those as well.
There is a vague qualifier for what they would deem extra/overboard work, but citing Time Manipulation as an effort that'd be for VIPs is interesting.
Not that I expect them to be held by this standard, but it is indeed out there and has been said!
One could say that the animations for Staff are the "overboard" qualifier, along with the Staff Mastery options (not really the same as DP or any of the other combos).
I stand somewhat corrected!
