Talk Like A Pirate Day is the 19th, not today (I can see how you'd misunderstand that though).

I always wanted to try and make a pirate ship in the base editor... I wonder if anyone has (I'd bet on it)...

If I am around, I'll join in on the TLAPD fun!

I'm not sure about places (that can really depend on a number of factors), but two tips I can give are...

Demo Record and change the camera to better frame your character in the shot.
    And/or
Use a second account/computer/user to take the pictures of your character.

Otherwise, you have to zoom so far out in order to get your character's full body.

Other than that, if simply doing them by yourself in the game, inching your character to the very edge of a ledge and moving the camera down just enough to get the whole body can do alright.

And flying characters can help you position the camera better.
As can jumping. However, this is only if you want the character in either a flying or jumping position.

I highly recommend using a separate camera (either through a separate character or through demo editing).

If you need help demo editing... I'm sure we can point you in the right direction.
It's quite simple really. For such a thing as screenshots, you'll just change a few numbers in a text file that sets the 3D coordinates of the camera. Play it back and snap the screenshots as it plays.

Okay, here's another one... My main has Group Fly!
  8. Yes to the above, haha.
And, yeah, it was great to hear people (outsiders, for the most part too) talking about the truth of City of Heroes' great accomplishments.
It's not a perfect piece, but it was great to hear people detailing some of the things that truly make City Of Heroes amazingly special and beloved.
  9. Arcanaville, I've not really taken much notice of you before, other than you seeming to be a nice, quiet, forum-goer (and maybe occasionally saying something well)... But you're really scoring points with this thread!

Hey, we could finally get my Cannon Travel Power!
  10. I don't want to talk about... him.

For years and years (and years and years and a few extra months and days added in), I've dreamed of a Cannonball-Run-like game, so it is just extra funny that this was your first offering in that list.

Ever since I was a little kid, playing video games, I used to dream of games that didn't have these obvious and confining boundaries. Don't trifle me with your silly, mindless objectives and your narrow paths... if I want my car to go on the grass in Pole Position... I should be able to make it so! Maybe I want to experience driving through the stands and run over that guy who yelled that my car looked stupid.

And Cannonball Run was always a great model for what I dreamed for in a game...
    • Customization - Your own selection and customization of cars, outfits/disguises...
    • Openness/Exploration - You're traveling cross country... and you won't want to follow one straight path... and it's not always in the same country anyway... That's a lot of openness! Roads? Who needs roads? I have a Japanese supercomputer car with jet engines!!!!!
    • High Speed - This needs no explanation.
    • Variety - Beyond the variety of character and vehicle customization, we have complete environment and game variety...
      • Working on your car and disguises and teams before the race (this portion includes a lot of variety of its own - crafting, socializing, fighting, stealing, racing, making your one phone call)
      • Driving high speeds, avoiding police, racing and competing against your rivals
      • Bar fights, street fights, fight fights
      • Side-betting
      • Multi-player shared vehicles!! Take turns driving or interacting with your team inside your vehicle (and with police, competitors and rivals outside of your vehicle)
      • CB communications throughout (never know when you might need a friendly truck driver)
    Plus the optional Doctor experience...
Don't tell me about the Doctor Tutorial... I don't ever want to know.
  11. I like this!!
Hopefully I'll be there in time!

    Thank you, sir!
I ended up getting a few things away from the pc done and am going to finish up with that in a bit. Otherwise, that was an excellent offer. Always up for saving some purses...

That'd help me work on my "RP more" bucket list item while we're at it.
    That sounds good, Pal.
Yep, I've been meaning to contact you and see what we can work out.
I would love to arrange some RP runs, even possibly all of the Incarnate Trials, in order. Cylar and I have yet to do a number of them (none since Keys... I know, I know... Been BUSY!!).

And, yeah, I wish I had the time, I have quite the story arc that would have fit into these times right now, but I can't imagine I'll have the time to put it all together like I'd want to, hehe.

Anyway... This all sounds great. As always, I keep pulling myself away from CoH fun (which, I know is good, but still... damnit), but I am definitely up for some good, old fashion, purse saving, universe saving, superhero role-playing action fun! And will be joining you all shortly...

Actually, I plan to hit the Egg Room in Faultline tonight, as that sounds like a fun idea: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=297260

Ack... if I get back in time!!
  13. *kicks the Arcanaville to get it working it again*

Hahaha, oh man... I wasn't expecting that! Thank you!

Seriously... I would absolutely play a Cannonball Run MMORPG!!!
Yes, please (not just to have Matt as Captain Chaos).
  14. Out of the game... I am running around like mad. For years and years now, I've been wearing too many hats... Sometimes I knock them all off and then forget which one I was going to put back on.

Back to CoH... I think this aspect of the game and it being shut down, it reminds me of my worst offenses to my own life... All that stuff you still didn't do or didn't finish... and now it's gone, mate. Good job, you blew it.

I can feel Yoda glaring through me as he says, "This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph."

Beyond all of my real life struggles with trying to create and keep things going and get things to better places... Then there are so many things I want to do with City Of Heroes and for the City Of Heroes community.
My unfinished CoH movies... The new movie ideas I wish to make, since the announcement... Helping the game and Paragon Studios to survive... Continuing to try to supply humor and good nature around here (that's the only thing I really ever felt I could contribute around here!)... PLAYING... All the TFs, trials and achievements I didn't get around to yet...

This thread is pretty pointless and I don't usually start threads, but hey... I'm looking at all of my hats, knocked to the floor, and trying to figure out which one I need to wear for the next few hours... but my mind is really focusing on the day when all of these hats helped me to get all those things done... but I am constantly reminded... that day may never come.

That's exactly what I saw and was thinking!

That and how awesome Mindscythe is!
  16. The opening thesis and focus on the true greatness of this game and the developers is great.
Haven't finished listening yet, but I like and appreciate, this one.
  17. That looks to be Thai! (A beautiful written language too, if I may say)

Hmm, my brother actually moved to Thailand about three years ago and speaks fluently... I'll send this his way.

As for you ending up partially VIP. That's weird. I've heard that strange things happen sometimes, but usually resolve over a bit of time. NO idea if that's what's going on with your account or if it is related to the mess we're in now.

    Confessions

I got some levels on some alts in the AE by fighting hordes and hordes of Rikti (Got invited to one of those Mitos missions once...
but never did that again, that was lame... hordes of Rikti for tons of xp though? Yeah, I did that and enjoyed it... a lot).
  21. Yeah, I seriously love it!!

A parade of our heroes, marching the streets of Paragon City.

(I'm not against the Statesman thing, but yeah, it may be better without it. I'm game either way though)
  22. I think that a parade is a fantastic idea!
With or without the Statesman tribute costume, honestly.
Regardless, I love the idea of having it move. It could get clumsy, it could get a little weird with switching zones and all the many instances, if we have a turnout like before... but... the idea is absolutely worth exploring.

So, what problems might exist and what can we do about them and how can we work with it all to make it awesome?

    Potential negatives:
    • lagging movement; difficult to keep in sync for a parade march (might not be a big deal. I do suggest /walk-ing)
    • Zoning - would that many people moving into new zones cause server problems? This, I don't know... maybe we stagger zoning... so, if we keep orderly formations, we zone in small groups to try and avoid overloading the server with so many reloads at once.
    • Multiple Instances - Let's say we have 33 Atlas Parks again (woohoo). Would it be a chaotic mess for people if they don't all stay together through the different zones/instances? I have a few thoughts about this... Sticking to your Instance Number for each and every zone could be good, but that would require some serious coordination in order to open up enough zones for the higher numbered zones... the only way to pull that off would be to let AP1 go first, into SC1, then AP2 into SC2 and so on... until the hypothetical SC33 opens up due to all the others being filled, and AP33 then can go into SC33. And, again, going in waves from within each zone.

Anyway, all of the above may very well be drastically over-thinking it.
I think it could be great just as a big messy moving rally, but I figured I'd just type my immediate thoughts.

    I like this idea.

    AP33 Forever!!

I really like both of the two submissions by Airhead and gec72. Seriously, you captured the AP33 aspect very well. Funny how you both used the Atlas statue, great idea!

Zekiran... your friend's design is awesome. So good, it makes me wonder... might that be an excellent patch/emblem for the SaveCoH instead of AP33?

Perhaps replacing the "Atlas Park 33" with the Save CoH or something more universal/obvious to the cause might be a great things for us. Obviously, that's something for the group to decide and all, but it really struck me as being a good candidate for that.

Not sure what it should say...
