    AR/DEV. Why Not?

It's all about your brand of fun.
I think the only way to find out if it is for you is to try it!
I haven't leveled up an AR/Dev, but I do have an Archery/Dev (and love it, but that is quite different).
More importantly, I have an SG friend who lives for his AR/Dev and is an absolute blast (Both literally and figuratively) for everyone that teams with him. His mission in game seems to be to find new and more explosive ways to out-aggro the tanks. I am often amazed at just how successful he is, haha.

Every time I see the negative things said about AR/Dev, I want to summon him to post his thoughts on the powerset combo.

Not that it is wrong for people to dislike it. It's not for everyone.

Anyways... better answers for you above me, but I just felt the need to babble in here about this!

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it!
  2. So, are you saying I have to come out of hide to be on your teams, Dechs?

I hide form searches because I still hold on to this antiquated notion that people will use emails in this game to send messages to friends and strangers alike (So, I don't turn any email filters on) and hiding from searches stopped the onslaught I was receiving from the ever-growing list of RMT spammers.

Unfortunately, no one seems to use emails to send messages in game (any more).

Hehe, I don't hide out of some fear of getting tells nor out of some social anxiety nor due to my hatred of humankind (Well, partly not that last one).

I still get tells from random strangers while hiding (Though, not often about PuGs). I never felt like the number of tells I would receive when not hiding was bad (On Virtue).
And, I have no problem telling people "no", so that's not much of an issue for me either.
I just didn't like my names getting put on spam lists.

    ...
Actually, another possibility is that a greater percentage of players hide from searches than the percentage of the forum-goers.
Funny how only one assumption is made.
We could easily provide reasons for either case to be true.

    Assuming anything is foolish, hehe.

As for a very minor analysis such as this, I don't see a major problem with using these percentages.
Trying to lump any large group together is foolhardy. Saying that we are the same because we visit the forums is nonsense. We can witness the disparity very easily between us.
No, the forum goers do not represent the whole of the playerbase, that is for sure.
Just the same, the population of both elements (forum-goers and non-forum-goers) are diverse within themselves.

Just as one points out their expectations of what a forum-goer may be better at than a non-forum-goer, we can point to exceptions that we know of.
Experts that never use the forums and the opposite.
Unless, one suggests, that all forum-goers and frequenters are experts and apply their great knowledge skillfully to their game, heehee... Pretty sure we see plenty of that not being the case.

And, in zero means mocking anyone:

I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the game's population doesn't even know it's possible.

For each and every forum-goer such as this, there are equal (supposed) exceptions to the assumed rules that non-forum users have less of a grasp on the game mechanics.

Hehe, I'm just saying, is all.

Honestly, I only hide from searches due to that was the most frequent means in which spammers would latch onto me and send me crap.

I choose to hide from searches and use networking to get teams while leaving my email options open for anyone to send me email.
  4. Did Ransim breakses it?
It is up now though, so maybe Denji is just trying to sabotage us!
EDIT: Aha, Denji is trying to make me look weird...
Wait... I've never had any help in that regard before... Not sure what that might do! I'm plenty weird all on my own.
Maybe it will make me seem normal!!!
Yay! Do I look more normal than usual in this post??

Umm... now maybe I should type something in on topic...
    Well...
You can check my unfinished User page... And check out the few pages I have up and/or throw me suggestions.

Also... I assume we can't embed youtube videos on VV, is that correct?

And lastly... If you're walking down the street and the wheels fall off of your canoe, how many pancakes does it take to lift your house back up?

    Thanks, Denji!!

    A question!

    And remember this site... paragonwiki.com
    Here's what you bought!

It is our very good friend

And here is an example of the costume pieces from that, grabbed from paragonwiki:

    Congratulations!
    And WELCOME!!

  7. Yes

*[my jar of dead batteries and caterpillar guts has been sent and the penguin called and wants my toothbrush. Too old, too young and half a juice box left in the glove compartment]

    * I can't simply post a one word reply, so I had to include something else.

I do not have screenshots to prove this, only my memory and the memory of a friend that once used it.
    How could I forget this?!?!
The one thing that I have noticed and had taken away from me as an option!
My poor friend lost her one shoulder valkyrie cape costume when she visited the tailor and (foolishly) made a change without noticing the cape had been removed...

So, yes, please... Return the One Shoulder Valkyrie option either to the normal Valkyrie options or to the unlocked One Shoulder options... either way.

My friend requests that I say, "give it back".
  9. Hehe

Out of complete morbid curiosity... did anyone get the Ichabod Crane joke?

Not that I thought it was the best or anything like that. It was just what came to my mind immediately, and that's what I go with, hehe.
I am just curious if I was alone on that one

Personally, I found The_Overlord's to be the best:

"What, the chair? That's nothing, wait until you see my dresser - it's made of real Hellion!"

    Haha!

You know, I somewhat regret including that in my post now, as I really just wanted to focus on how super amazing I thought it was to have David Nakayama drawing winners in their costumes.

Although, I do wonder if people will want a more... idealized... representation. Or if they'll want a realistic rendition of them in their costumes.

"Captain Spandex... would you like an idealized version or... rolls included?"
    <.<

I hope everyone has a great time over there.
I'm looking forward to the New York Comic Con Meet and Greet!

And, yes... Do take and post video!! (There's no idealizing there!)

    Oh... and... thanks, Dec!!

Yeah, I'm not coming from a whole anti-this or that popular site thing or anything... Just picking on them for the obviousness of it and the wording of it, hehe.
Not perturbed in the least bit, just teasin'
  12. If I don't have anything nice to say, I try not to say anything... So, I'll not comment on the whole make-people-go-to-facebook-and-twitter-yay-cross-promotional-stuff...

I think that reward of David sketching winners of the raffle in their costume is an extremely awesome award and cool idea.
  13. I apologize for posting this here (Since it is not CoH based), but this is really the only forum that I belong to that I might be able to get some artist's thoughts and some possible help.

I have a few projects in the works and in planning that I could use some interested artists to collaborate with. And I honestly don't know any visual artists to talk, work and collaborate with (None that are willing, able or still practicing/capable).

I'm not a freeloader, by the way. I do plenty of work of my own, it's just not in the medium that I'm looking for... And, right now, most of the work I am doing isn't putting enough food on my own table, unfortunately.

My most immediate interest is for some emblems, logos and somewhat simple designs for a few links on a webpage to help get things going.
Larger projects involve full pictures and animated videos (The latter something I have some experience in, myself).

Anyway, I'm being vague because I am not looking to post here asking for people to volunteer themselves for my projects, but just trying to give an idea of the sort of thing that I am looking to try and find the correct avenues for reaching out to find some interested artist(s).

I am a member of Deviant Art, but I've not really used it to branch out much at all.

I have to admit, this seems really odd to have to post here and ask such basic questions... But... I find myself on my own and it is hard breaking in and connecting and finding others to work with.

    Thanks for any help.

My Pet Peeve is people who have pet peeves about others having pet peeves. Joking! Just thought it had to be said in a light cheerful super-not-serious sort of way.

Yeah, I have no worries. I know the reality of what I'm saying and I hope it is communicated well enough there if someone actually reads what I said.
Hehe, anyone who doesn't get it, I suppose, will just dismiss me

EDIT: Hrm, that easily can sound a lot more snarky than my intention. I'm actually an easy person to get along with... hehe, which is sort of my point. I've seen far too many people with what they call "pet peeves" that would apparently make them ignore me. I'm not a god-moder or mary sue maker or really much of anything people are likely to mention in here.
I just don't believe in dismissing people based on some rule created in a vacuum... and... will openly mock it, I suppose, haha.
I just read over this reply and felt that it didn't represent what I was trying to say very well... The big smiley was what I wanted to be most noticed

    *shutting up now, sir*
  15. Honestly, I think my "pet peeve" is mainly the ridiculous and (often times) obnoxious pet peeves that people have (Not that there aren't reasonable/legitimate preferences one could have).

One silly example: I saw someone's write-up who seemed like a pretty cool RPer and seemed to share some similarities with myself... but then I saw this list of pet peeves... and, among many other ones that just seemed dumb to me, was a long ranting over the word "chuckle" and how it was "idiotic" to use that word to describe someone laughing, ever, unless maybe you were Santa Clause or something.
Get a clue and an open mind towards vocabulary... and drop the insane self-created hatred.

    Ahem...
    Anyways...
I suppose my real pet peeve is the fact that I do not adhere to rules and biases based on poor experiences (Like so many people with grand lists of pet peeves seem to do).
Often times, mindsets like that, lead people to close the door on other people they may very well would have benefited from being around... yet, some insignificant and baseless rule that they manufactured in their heads due to some specific experience turns them into a spiteful arbitrator of how everyone should act in order to fit into their precious world.

Yes... that is my pet peeve
I like to be flexible and experience other points of views. I just don't put myself into spots where I'll be crushed by others and then make stringent rules to avoid that from happening again. I take my time and only go in so far as I deem safe, before getting to know people.
Being against God-Moding or selfish indulgences or blatant disregards for other players are not "pet peeves"... they're simply recognizing obvious obnoxiousness. Going farther with these types of ideas... "I'll never play with someone who based their character on another world, who is a catgirl, who is a fishboy, who wears beige, who doesn't know how to tie his shoe laces, etc... Is folly, in my opinion.

If any of that made sense anyways...

    Hey playerbase... Jealous much?
  17. Hahaha, I always like it when someone tries to mock you for "loving and praising" something.
Yep... It's pretty good being happy with what I pay for

Hehe, saying "just my opinion" doesn't give you immunity to being wrong.
It isn't "nothing" (Obviously), but more so... there is a good amount of stuff there. No, it is not a normal amount, but it is the free content coming alongside Going Rogue.
Whether you, personally, care for it or not, publicly calling a reworked Cathedral Of Pain nothing is wrong.
Nothing for you, but your whole post was explaining how most people would see this in an in-between patch and shrug.
It speaks to a bit too much expected entitlement, no?
C'mon. Lighten up... This development team is doing some great stuff.
    "Meh... nothing..."
    Hehe...

Not to mention... The Tips missions may be something rather cool. And constant content coming from a new angle... plus it may be something that is expanded on further. We don't know that all arcs that come from Tips are morality mission arcs... By the sounds of it, I'd suspect there to be more to it than that. New arcs starting from incidental play. Sounds like content.
  19. Yeah! a new/re-worked/re-implemented Cathedral Of Pain, one universal market, the ability to trade across faction (yay, trading inspirations on Co-Op teaming), new emotes, new costumes, new types of mission spawning...

    That's "nothing" alright!

  21. Yes, sir... It looks just like Ichabod Crane...
  22. Oh, hey... did you happen to post this idea in the All Things Art: Building Edition thread?

And I swear, if we can't get a Hellion stick-up event... I will cry!
  23. No, I get that idea... although, "nail in the coffin" is absurd.

The point is, people bring up using the Stealth IO in combination with other powers.
We could go back and quote what people were saying...
The point is... CD has its benefits and uses and it is more than what was just being said a few posts up.

Cloak of Darkness at least provides immobilization protection, +perception and double the defense bonus (after adjusting for AT modifiers).
I intended to say unsupressed movement there.
I really don't find the movement debuff of stealth quite so insignificant and in order to have that stealth for SS, you need to keep moving, no?

Regardless, I am all for a slight boost to Cloaking Device, as we've discussed further earlier.
All I am pointing out is that some of the negative comments regarding Cloaking Device have been leaving out some of its bonuses/positives when doing a compare and contrast.
Any time someone tries to use using another power combined with the IO as a reason CD is poor... they need to remember that CD can be used with the stealth IO, as well, for very good effect.

Not a big deal and I'm not trying to drive anything down anyone's throat... but there are positives about the way /dev's powers are that are being overlooked a little.

So... Cloaking Device plus Stealth IO is better than invisibility (65 vs 60), unsuppressable stealth for one power choice, plus a little defense. I just noticed that no one who was speaking against CD due to the IO was mentioning that having CD plus the IO was a good thing about /Dev in the first place.

Well, of course it is a subjective measure of fun. That can't be argued. I was only considering the time factor.
It often seems to me that I can wipe some tough obstacles out relatively quickly (Certainly super safely) when soloing and setting up big firework displays for my enemies.
