You want to play MY game... Move to my country!!
    Just a brief role-playing fancy!

  2. And all the OP was trying to express was a displeasure with sparklies in a very important power for Dark Armor.

However, as I have indicated earlier, I am in agreement with what Samuel Tow said.

Also, I'm not saying that the sparkles are awful, terrible or stoopid or anything. I just know that I, and others, have been disappointed when we see that effect.

I remember the days before Power Customization and the awesome ability to look at/preview every single power within the primaries and secondaries.
I used to hunt down people with those powers so that I could see what they looked like. (I had even started a demo record collection of everything to create a video of every single power within the game)

The looks of powers have always been very important to me and sometimes the wrong thing can kill it for me (sometimes it just requires a bit of retooling the concept in my mind, of course).

I don't suspect any of those opinions will be seen as outlandish, as most seem to respect Power Customization as a terrific thing.
  3. And throw in a free toaster oven as well!!!

I wouldn't mind frequent free transfers... as it does help with the alt-ing a little bit... But... I don't expect them to always give it to me for free when they constantly provide the service for pay.

    *shrugs* We shall see!
  4. Just in case that wasn't clear enough (And I had the situation backwards)...

She needs to save the costume at the tailor.
Then she needs to find that file in her CoH costume folder (default C:City of Heroes/costumes)
Then she needs to either attach that file to an email...
    or
    • Open that file in notepad (or a similar simple pure text program such as Wordpad... but not Word)
    • Copy all of the text (CTRL A to select all, CTRL C to copy)
    • Paste that on the forums or in an in-game email or on a website (where ever is determined for you to get it)

    Then you need to...
    • Copy all of that text
    • Paste it into a new notepad file
    • Save As...
      • towards the bottom of the "Save As..." window there is an option for "Save as type". Click on the drop down menu to select "All Files" (As opposed to "Text Files Only")
      • Name the file whatever you wish to name it (likely the original character's name) and end it with .costume
    • Save the file to the correct location (the "costume" folder) within your City Of Heroes installation (City Of Heroes\costume).
    The file should be
    Quote:
    MyFriendsCostume.costume

If there is anything else after the ".costume" you didses it wrong.
Open up the file and "save as..." again and make sure to delete anything after .costume and make sure it is set to save as "All Files" and not "Text Files only".
(The Text Files Only option will automatically put a .txt at the end of your file, no matter what you type in the naming field)

Load it up in the tailor/AE and have at it!!

    I hope we helped!!

While attaching a file and sending it is perfectly fine...

Copying the contents of the file and pasting it has benefits.

You can transfer them via an in-game email or even on the forums.

Also, there should not be any problem in making that text a proper costume file (I've done this many times, though it has been a little bit).

Copy ALL of the text in the file (simple enough) and give it/post it.
Then open notepad, put that text into it. Save the file into the CoH costumes folder (Vista users need to know where to find the real one and not some clown honkery fake one... or just don't use Vista please!) and name the file and end it with .costume and the only reason you should get a problem is if you don't make sure it isn't still adding a .text to the file.
Make sure to check ALL FILES and not just TEXT FILES and/or simply make sure the full file name ends in .costume and not .text.

Sure... if this is too much for the intended user, then sending them the actual file may be best.

However, it really is a simple matter.
I know some users may not have full file names visible, so they may want to do that in their windows options.

It really is a great feature.

So, yeah... to the OP, either copy the file from your CoH costume folder and send it as an attachment or copy all of the text and throw that at them and (if they don't know what to do with it) tell them how to save it as a .costume file in notepad!

    Good luck!!
  6. Now I really want a tally of all City Of Heroes players in Bulgaria.
Could Samuel Tow really be the only one?

And, yeah, not all U.S. based players have narcolepsy.
I think even less than half do... At least!!

Also, I am pretty certain that the entire country does not keep the same bed time.

As for better connectivity for Europeans on American Servers... While I do not think it is "illogical", even if it were it would not make it untrue!

So, since you have asked why... I think several reasonable answers have been provided... Despite the poor tone chosen for the OP.

And... everyone is blaming the Germans again!!
("I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it")

I believe they all will include the combat option!

And... you need super slo-mo to go with that excellent idea!
  9. Well, if we're really getting specific... Nothing will spark their interest like an Elec/Elec blaster!!

Hahaha... Okay, so it starts with 50 charges...

Good grief, how can anyone use up 30 of those without realizing they haven't taken the actual mission...

Yeah, I meant to check and see how many charges the wand began with, because, like I had said, I thought it was unlimited, hehe.

Yeah, one power does not make a NO FX option for Dark Armor and it is not the power with the sparklies.
I knew I should have included that only Cloak Of Darkness has an option, blah blah blah, hehe.
I think it is just to remove the flicker or something? People wanted to be able to see their character more while using Cloak Of Darkness.

This has happened to me a few times (It seems most often after editing in the base and/or making my chat tab come up and/or disappearing [c key]).
And the above fix absolutely worked.

Also, I think it was just two nights ago... I had this problem and I hit ENTER and it fixed itself enough for me to properly adjust it again.

So... hopefully one or both of these work for you (although, only one will first!).
(Disregard that last comment if it is confusing)

  14. Electric-Knight

    So, what's left?

    Also... Pole-arms.
    A nice staff melee powerset.

Magical shooting staffs could (probably) be accomplished with future power customization, but a full melee set of spinning, swinging, swooping pole-arm attacks would be something cool.

    Oh, and bicycle repair powers!
  15. Electric-Knight

    So, what's left?

I'd like to see the Bicycle Repair power set...
However, I suppose we need to have bicycles in the game first.

    Seriously!!

    Resource Material (on youtube)
  16. Haha, I have actually started to do that once or twice myself... However, I never used up all the charges and I was able to complete the mission (Usually go to select the mission to see how many I need to do and then discover that I forgot to get the actual curing mission).

Honestly, I didn't even recall that there were a limited number of charges.
I always just lose the wand after the mission complete (Which makes me sad... We used to be able to keep it, didn't we?...

I had a friend who it never disappeared for... and she kept accidentally hitting it (it was apparently right next to a keybind)... Every time I hear that noise of that wand, I think of her typos!!

I say... give it unlimited charges and let us keep them forever!
  17. I think some of the initial replies didn't quite understand and/or were wrong about a few things... (EDIT: Combined with the fact that the OP possibly mentioned the wrong powers. Murky Cloud is the sparkles!)

Incorrect. No, you can't just turn off the visual effects for Dark Armor (Or any of the elemental/physical energy type stuff).
I, personally don't want to see a NO FX option for any such powers (Inv, WP and SR are great for that though!).
However, I would love to see an optional effect for Dark Armor's Murky Cloud.
I agree, in a completely reasonable tone, that they feel out of place within the set. And I have always felt that way, before Power Customization.

Yes, the effect can be lessened a bit, with Power Customization, however it cannot be removed. The sparkling cloud of Murkiness will sparkle.
Not a major complaint or anything... But I give a resounding YES to the idea of providing a non-sparkly option for Murky Cloud... without hesitation!

I'm somewhat surprised by the initial reactions of others... Not noticing the sparkles of Murky Cloud?
Maybe if you have particle effects turned way down in your graphics options?

I have a friend who has his turned all the way down, and confusion often comes up between us (I have mine all the way up) when discussing how some things look.
  18. I saw this too and had one thought...

Sarah Conner would beat Jamie Farr to the gong!!

  19. As you know, you're going to get all sort of different answers and it also largely depends on what the player really prefers/enjoys.

My first thought is always Blaster. I am biased though. Although, I think of Blaster as my first character (It was my first beyond 17 and to 50, but my first character ever was actually a Brute. As was my second... and all the way to 17, before I started playing Blueside).

Playing a Scrapper right out of the box could damage expectations and not allow the player to understand and respect how tough things can be for other ATs.
Not that Scrappers are auto/instant-gods or anything, hehe... But they certainly can be a fire and forget approach (For the early levels, at least).

However, that can be okay. The toughest part is wanting the first characters to be fun and not turn them off. And you may have no idea if this player is a type that could enjoy the harrowing experience of being a solo Blaster.

Honestly, with two friends alongside... There shouldn't be much issue with anything he chooses.

If you just explain some of the extremes beforehand... Scrappers and Brutes are a bit of Fire and Forget... Blasters are a bit more of Glass Cannons who need to be smart/clever/careful... Doms, Cors and even Defenders to lesser degrees, but with less damage and the different aspects of their powers and team roles... Tankers and their team role... Controllers and their particular niche and team role (And maybe dependancies at earlier levels)... Master Minds and their uniqueness (The numpad binds are tremendous, in my opinion).

Any and all can be a good intro... More than anything it depends on the player and what sort of excitement they may enjoy best. What complicates things even more is that... Even that player may not know what they'd enjoy most.
So, it is tricky... and sometimes best left to chance!
Best thing I can suggest is to give some rough ideas about the ATs and their general roles, but then just let them flip through the different powers and see what tickles their fancy.
With two teammates around, nothing will be a terrible selection.

And then the beauty of Alt-ing comes into play...

    Best of luck!
  20. Hey!
My apologies for not replying sooner!
I was away in a hotel when I saw this, grabbed it on my laptop, and forgot to come back here!

    Thank you so much, Deebs!!!

Zox looks fantastic!! As does everyone else, truly!
I think I love Strange Case the most, mainly because of the expression, I suppose...
Although, that's what I like most about your work, you capture the character.
    Very very awesome!
Honestly, you captured Zox so very well there!

And... I did do a quick color job on Zox too... I was going to go back and do a better job.
I'll post/share it in a bit. If I don't fix it up, I'll just post the quick one I did!
(I think I am going to make a sig with alternating pics of my characters... and that is going in it)

I mean yeah it's stupid, but it's not like there's never been stupid scenes in the Indiana Jones series before (That dumb banquet scene in Temple of Doom, surviving falling out of a plane in a raft, surviving a tank falling off a cliff with zero explanation, every Willie Scott scene in Temple of doom...actually in retrospect, let's just say half the scenes in Temple of Doom). But why this particular scene?
    Agreed.
I don't know if I have anything else to add to that.
Although, Temple Of Doom is... well, yeah... Hmm, what about Raiders... what stupid scenes does that have (I'm not saying this as though it doesn't have any... I'm wondering aloud, so to speak)...

I can't think of any from Raiders...

Heh... then again, while it is an awesome scene all the way through, the climbing/dragging under the truck scene doesn't really look/work all that well (The rest of the scene does).
I know it was a huge stunt and many people were in love with it (And it certainly creates a buzz), but... it's noticeably sped up... and is kinda silly, really.

Anyways... Not like I really feel any need to rip apart any of the movies. I loved Crystal Skull. *shrugs*
  22. I really don't think that a costume power would win you the contest over something you put together yourself at the tailor.

Just my 0.5 cents (Tax man took the rest)!!
