I like what I see in this pack. I really wish the game design direction would take a turn away from Incarnate stuff, because the new costumes almost make me want to play around with new characters again.

Quote:That's actually the first somewhat convincing argument I've heard. There is something to be said for consistency, anyway. To play devil's advocate for a moment, the answer is because everything else in the game works that way.
Quote:I'll let Positron answer this for you himself. He's the expert and explains it better than I could. -
I've yet to see any convincing argument for why the Trial/teaming path "has" to be "faster" than any solo path.
Or, for that matter, a convincing argument for why time-gating isn't an awful idea to start with. -
Since always. While it might not seem particularly slow to you, I'm sure you'll readily admit that it takes longer to get from 30 to 40 than from 20 to 30 (and even that is vastly slower than 1 to 10). It does slow down at 30, because the increase in rewards does not keep pace with the increase in experience needed. It is especially noticeable while soloing, and I think that many players, and the developers as well, have greatly undervalued soloing of late.

Quote:"This is a stupid rule, which everyone should obey except when obeying it results in patently stupid conversation, in which case it should be skirted and flirted with, but no touching, because Big Brother is watching."I would like to remind everyone once again of Rule 8 of the City of Heroes forums, which states:
No, seriously, it's a ******* stupid rule. Are there any rules that get violated as much as this one? I'm betting not, and there's a damn good reason for that. -
When my VG took on the Phalanx, it was an even 8-on-8 fight, and we won. So the Phalanx as a group are no more powerful than an equal number of equivalent-level PCs.
Also, we took down Statesman first, so that either means he's the biggest threat and we wanted him out of the way, or his reputation is undeserved and he's really a big wimp. -
Somewhat ironically, for me personally, the place extra range would be most useful is the place they made it irrelevant altogether: melee attacks. Boosting the range on one of those could actually make a significant difference.

Quote:That doesn't sound like fun to me.But it'll be fun - last time they had red names involved, Avatea and the Ocho spawned Master At Arms and chased us around which ever zone the Rikti were in at the time
I can totally see them doing the same this time, only using Goliath War Walkers - or maybe even some fo the Praeotrian Guard - ganking Marauder in Atlas Park would be cool -

It's due in part to it being a puzzle game, because being a puzzle game is a large part of how it is innovative and well-made (I don't think the puzzles necessarily have anything to do with its humour.)
-
And yet Portal is viewed as one of the greatest games ever made. It's not like MMOs are unique in having access to the internet.
-
A more reasonable conversion structure - one that took into account the vastly lower shard generation rate - would be more acceptable. The specific implementation that exists is the objectionable item, not the generic idea.
And I don't argue against the argument "hey, the trials are fun and I like them, so I don't really see a problem" (I disagree, but it's not an irrelevant nor unreasonable argument) as much as I do against the "new stuff just isn't for you, so stuff it" stance. -
Quote:As the Trials are tied directly and inexorably with the new ADVANCEMENT, what the rest of the game like IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. New advancement is "the game".They didn't delete content, they didn't change the rest of the game into raids, the ONLY change came with the Trials, and those are now trivial thanks to the powers they unlocked.
You don't deny that the Trials are different from pre-existing content; you deny that we should have access to the new advancement because we don't like this new, different content. The fact that the old content is still there doesn't matter, because the old content doesn't get us the new advancement. Until it does, it doesn't matter what the rest of the game is like when having conversations about the new advancement.
You (collective) would do us all a huge favour if you'd stop recycling the same old irrelevant arguments. Unless your argument in some way involves a (viable - please don't talk about shards and those stupid conversion recipes) method to obtain new advancement, it means less than nothing in this context. -
-
The last time you promised this, we got 88-shard-cost conversion recipes. Forgive me if I withhold judgement on your ability to understand and address the concerns of small teams and soloers until I actually see a viable alternative.

Why give us an option to play Loyalists to Cole and then do this?
Seriously, devs, just shut down City of Villains if you're going to continue ******** on villains. Let us actually play villains, or remove the ******* option. -

From the revenue figures we have access to, it seems clear that GR did not generate a huge spike in sales. Therefore, I can conclude that we will not be seeing another paid expansion any time soon.

Strictly speaking, if you get kicked from the league, you're not a member of the league any more. You don't get kicked for being disconnected (I don't think?), so the "part of the league" gets around crashes and such but doesn't prevent someone from being kicked and losing rewards.
-
My participation system would be as thus:
Were you part of the league that completed the task?
Were you present at the trial for any part of it?
Congratulations! You participated! -
Quote:I don't do this much these days, but I completely agree with Arcanasber - I mean Arcanaville.Actually, there is a right answer. You fix Shepherd's Crook immediately, period. Including the misspelling. You fix Meekling eventually, when you get around to it. You make a highly complex change to Cannon of Justice that no one can really understand, and does virtually nothing. And you let me know you're going to do that, so I don't compare your powers team's math skills to a deranged woodchuck for the umpteenth time.
Though realistically, you can tackle #1 and #2 simultaneously, because #2 is a problem for the community team, and does not require any time from your powers team at all. -
