Quote:Feel sorry for the kid thats born at 1:30am.
It was 1:00am local time twice last Sunday morning here. But UTC/GMT didn't budge (the first time it was 1am local time it was actually midnight UTC).
Time of birth: Well it was half 1 but then technically he was born a whole hour already before his mother gave birth.
Quote:Try not to worry about it bud, just go have another beer. -
Quote:You do. We don't (I'm in Europe, as is Blue Rabbit). Hence the confusion
There's about a week where we end up either 7 or 9 hours separated until both sides set their clocks back.*
*scratches head as to the logic in this*
So one half of the earth stays the same while the other half "stops" for an hour? -
Just shot it up to get some of the patching done early and "lol" look at the size of that font now!
Did somebody complain it was too small and hard to find or something?
-
Quote:still suprised nout like this has happened yet.
3) Train Missions: You board the train and suddenly find yourself on an actual Train Map. The train is being abducted by bad guys... fight your way to the front car and defeat the boss to save the day! Or maybe they're going to blow it up and you have to disarm bombs... I'm not picky.
BIG EDIT! Happy birthday for the 2nd -
Quote:So what if the a player trys to "game the system"?
Make a new Praetorian...
Rush to level 20 as fast as they can (not too hard these days)...
Join the supergroup granting the 100,000 prestige...
Quit... (and the 100K stays with the SG)
Delete the toon...
Make a new Praetorian and start the process all over again?
Use this as a system to generate as much prestige as the SG wants?
(not that it is really overpowering to have super huge bases, but I am not sure that is what the Devs want)
Has idea been tested to prevent possible abuse of the system?
x Jeremy M.
Its far easier to farm prestige than to do it that way thoughShould hardly be a high priority to stop that imo.

Hello there and welcome to Union
Since you are a new player i will try and explain as much as i can in as little space as possible. Further explanation will be quickly answered if needed
- Emptyness? Well i can only assume that since you asked what the new update Going Rogue is, i can only assume that you have the CoH/CoV game and NOT the Going Rogue update. If this is true, then your low level experience will be more solo than teamed since the large majority of players now use the low level zones in Praetoria [the zones that Going Rogue unlocks that is] due to the vastly superior storylines/new powers and simply much better locations. Highly suggest you purchase going rogue.
- Chat channels? These are channels in which players can keep in constant communication with eachother no matter what server they are on, as long as they are in the same server list [so north american players cant communicate with european players via global channels as example]. This is great for setting up teams and just general chit chat with people from the game. On union the main channels are Union Chat [for just general chit-chat], Sals Badgehunters [used for mostly badge teams], Union Taskforce [setting up taskforces and raids]. The game will instantly feel more populated once you have these up and running.
- Servers? Union and defiant are the english speaking servers with the other two for the german and french speaking amongst us
One thing i think you might not have noticed are the FREE updates this game gets. City of Villains and Going Rogue are the big updates you had to pay for to access true, but this game has 18 free updates [called issues here] worth of content and new powers and everything since the game was launched. Currently have 2/3 of these a year and if you check out the issue 19 overview page for the next one out next month, i think you can see the quality of these updates are only getting better
Hope to see you ingame soon if you decide to stay! If anything, think you should give it a month to find your feet. I've been here 60 months now and im still as addicted to it as ever, this is one of those games that just gets better the more and more you play it.
After all, what other MMO do you know where YOU are the hero and not just a sidekick to some famous superpowered thing?[you'll understand once you get to higher level

Quote:That's *exactly* how I view it, as well, because that seems to be the intent. Dr. Vahzilok has been defeated, so his minions are likewise gone, and so forth. In CoH, space *is* time.
The cognitive dissonance problem happens when you roll an alt. Essentially what you're doing is creating a character whose life is starting at pretty much the same time your previous character's did. Ignore that linear time has passed in the real world, you always start around 2005 in the tutorial. You kind of have to look at the game from the perspective of a single-player game such as Mass Effect. Starting over means rewinding the movie to the beginning, except with a different lead character.
So when we see a player we just teamed with on our 50 but now on our level 1s, they are flashbacking to this time to warn us of the rikti invading us again? -
I've always wondered about the midnighters, because apart from the small mini arcs, there isnt really any story there. Just a service station on the way to the main destination.

Lady . . . . . . . im worried

Quote:How often do the EU players come to the site though? Also, when they post them, isn't a lot later in the day for a lot of EU players?
Devs/mods dont usually start posting on the forums until roughly 5:30pm UK time [clocks go back tonight! yay!], so usually when people are heading home from work/getting ready to go out are these things posted.
Plus im an EUer and i NEVER get these!Someone trade? ^_^

That is why we now have merits
You mean i spent a whole day doing the SSTF2 and all i got was THIS?! -
Saw this thread and instantly remembered that video ages ago about where a player had his character "come to life" as such
He was talking to her and everything!

Quote:That's one reason I feel that franchise-less MMOs have more potential than MMOs based on a pre-established ID.
Like, if you buy Franchise Online, you will always do so because you expect to see Franchise Character. This puts us in the situation where, if Franchise Character just stands on the sidelines all the time, we feel cheated out of our money with false promises, and if Franchise Character is a constant spotlight-thief it'll feel like we're just being the side-line characters and who wants to play a game where we're just an accessoir to major Franchise Characters?
And even if it's possible strike a balance, as Galadiman already said, Franchise Owner will love Franchise Character and its Franchise too much to let any random player be greater than Franchise Character. On the other hand, people who don't care for MMOs and don't play Franchise Online will feel cheated if their beloved Franchise Character is bested by PC #295277.
That's why not being tied to a franchise has a bit more potential. We can join this game not knowing who Statesman and Lord Recluse are. When we finally learn they're the big daddies of the game, we can fight them, surpass them, and there won't be any hardcore Statesman and Recluse fanboys who will feel cheated because their most favorite character ever got bested because, more likely than not, they're too busy celebrating their own victory over them.
Thats a lot of franchise right there . . . . .
But i agree with you 100%, the main reason i love this game over the others is because it lets YOU become the hero. Regardless of what the other games try to do, you are just a sidekick to the main characters in any Franchise game. -
Quote:Arent kheldians potentially immortal? So could they see mortality as a sign of higher being? Thus making the human race their "gods".
PS> For Kheldians, one might presume that the other planets & species
they have encountered also worshipped gods (as humans do), so I'd think
it viable to "invent" one from those cultures (since we don't have any real
info to select from) if you wanted to go that route. <shrug>

Quote:Heehee... And we're a bit late to answering the original question (hopefully the answer was found long before our answers), but...
What EU_Damz said, plus the manually entered emote commands are:
/emote
stancehero1, stancehero2, stancevillain1, stancevillain2
And, to make up for being late on this one, here's something for the future... The Alaskan Asteroids will win the 2278 Super Bowl.
Woops my badI just saw major_control post a new reply and automatically read the last page without taking notice of the date
My future prediction, America will catch "soccer" fever within the next 10 years. -
So hands up who uses this? Every persons profile i've viewed for umm heroic reasons only, have had none or very little visitor messages.
Just curious as to whether im just looking at the wrong places or that it just isnt used that often? -
Truth be told, if there was ever a server list merge, we'ld so have to do a NA v EU event
[I've tried for years to get a cross server "war" going!] -
Quote:I am a bit skeptical of this. Practically every end game encounter is the same, tank and spank. To prevent us from debuffing the critters into uselessness cheating tactics are added. Such as Statesman/M.Bison/Hero-1 perma unstoppable or the 100 mag hold GW has, if the devs truely mean what they say on this then we better have no cheating of NPCs abilities. Make up for it with better AI instead. Like how about having the mobs go after the healers/debuffers/buffers for once instead of being glued to the tank.
Is there a taunt resis power ingame? Cant log in so cant really check. -
Now what is the definition of a god these days? Is it somebody who has power far beyond that of a normal being?
Or perhaps its a higher being that is in charge of something important such as the weather/travel to the underworld/light?
Or is it a hero who was worshiped a long time ago [well before our time], who during then the civilians was unable to conceive that such a power existed [think romulus] and thus thought of him/her as a god?
I dont believe in gods, just as people who have reached the pinacle of their powers. So will my character become a god? No, because he is on a path of constantly improving his abilities. -
Quote:so everywhere i keep seeing refferences to the '4 new stances' but i dont know what they are? i cant find any list of new emotes anyone know what they are?
Need to have bought the complete edition or the complete edition item pack from the online store. They the herostance 1+2 and villainstance 1+2.
