  5. This is not for an item but say we get rid of the anoying hallways inbetween rooms so we can fit more rooms in our base or atleast let us decorate the hallways. It's soo anoying not being able to decorate them.

    I mean rooms should be able to share the same walls.

    Another funny thing about the vault is once the villain breaks the vault they don't actually go into the vault to take the money. It's all a setup. They say they are robbing the bank but they really are not. They brought their own sack of money and so when you "arrest" them too hard for robbery they are just building a better case for a lawsuit. Claiming they never robbed the bank and false charges and such =)

    I find it best to have an illusion controller. This way you can "watch" as they beat each other down and you simply come "help" the losing guy at the end by subduing the guy who just beat up the other. There is also the option of "guiding" the 1 villain out and accidentally run into other villains who decide to stop his escape.

    I like this one =)

    Take a scrapper with a max resist set and hit it with the whole chain. It should take that many clicks of power to kill a max def build using a max ho-hit build. I too feel there are way too many +to-hit buffs and powers and not enough def. I play both resist and def based toons and I know my resist toon can survive long enough to have a little fun fighting several opponents while my def toon only gets to play long enough to run away and hope opponent's travel supression lets me get far enough away since my life bar is gone.

    a) You could aggro an unlimited number of foes
    b) You could hit any number of in-range foes with an AoE
    c) Foes had no collision bounding, meaning a limitless number of them could be fit into a given area

    Now, realistically, the devs not only should have seen that coming, I think they did see it happening in Beta.

    Regardless, it seems likely that the ability could have been nipped in the bud by someone looking at any one of the above lettered items and saying "that's a potential for players to do more at once than we want." Of those, the most effective at "hard limiting" the behavior is the cap on AoE targets. I really loved that there was no such cap, because it was more realistic, but if they'd gone in with a cap on it, herding would never have reached the heights it did.

    I think that's an example of balancing around potential. By setting bounds on what's maximally achievable you limit your chances that players will exceed that level of performance.

    It's always possible to forget to bound something, but if you stick to bounding the fundamental attributes, you know that you've at least cut down on a huge set of possible combinations players might try.

    When CoH first came out, there weren't many limits that mattered.

    With many things they "balance". It's not balancing around potential that I have problems with. It's that they balance around the wrong areas or put easy fixes.

    Like on your herding list. One should be able to agro unlimited amounts of mobs. Because to tell you the truth I find it really stupid for me to fight a mob and 5 of their friends are just sitting there doing nothing. The only thing agro cap created is that I wont be getting hurt as much because the agro cap simple prevents the extra mobs from attacking me then and there. The moment their buddies drop they all jump into the fire and die. It actually helps the survivability of a herder. One should also be able to hit as many targets as those in range and line of sight as a given power indicate. The problem was collition checks. If mobs had good collition checks then they wouldn't stack. That would automatically prevent said AoE from hitting 100 targets because only a certain few would be in range and or in line of sight.

    Out of the 3 things... they choose the 2 wrong ones to change.

    They shouldn't balance things because of potential but simply change mob AI so we can't abuse our potentials. Just like when they made puppies attack with range first. That curved potential down. Better mob AI = less abuse.

    What i'm saying might be a whole lot more work but in my opinion would make for a better game in the end.
  10. They should redesign invulnerable to follow it's name, "INVULNERABLE". If they would just crank up our DR to a lot and they can get rid of all this extra +def, then we can die like true invulnerables. Death by a thousand cuts. Instead of being an offspring of the super reflexes set. We are invulnerable ...we should not be hard to hit, but hard to hurt.

    It should be ... hit me all you want, I might be bruised, broken, and bleeding, but I'm not dead yet.

    Before the whole nerfing the DR cap and stupid ED, I use to test out how much punishment my INV could take by turning invinci off. It was GREAT! I took a beating before I dropped dead.

    When UY first came out it was awesome!!! We were easier to hit but we didn't mind cause we were INVULNERABLE!

    But then they decided to nerf the DR cap and now we are just an SR crossbreed. Further more ED. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was. It only forced us to enhance our powers to look exactly like the next person. OOooo look at me.. I'm a cookie cutter hero!

    If my hide is tough... I think it would equal to being harder to hurt. Not harder to hit.

    Invincibility should increase DR cap or something, but the more mobs around me then I am easier to hit. I am surrounded after all.

    It's like superman =) you can hit him all you want. He is not hard to hit. But he is hard to hurt =)

    So my opinion is stop making us part super reflexes and make us invulnerable already.

    I have never seen the word nerf to referr to anything that is a buff. Most of the time something is change to become better it is usually referred to as being buffed or boosted or something else but never "nerfed".

    Nerf in general as far as I have experienced means less. Not "change". Maybe changed to become less but never just change.

    I don't think any real gamers out there would ever call their powers/loot "nerfed" if it got a boost.

    You know we the player base would never call anything nerfed again if they would simply stop nerfing stuff. Hence the end of negative stigma.

    I would personally rather get everything else boosted than singling someting out and nerfing it. This way we can feel "super" again and not just garden variety hero.

    [/ QUOTE ] This is extremely misleading. I'm not saying it was intentional deception, but it's apples to oranges. Let's compare apples to apples.

    First, the good news. Dominators didn't give up that much control over Controllers. Sure, Doms are a bit weaker without Domination, but then they're significantly more with it. That kind of balances itself out, especially since the Dominator has the option of using that boost when it's most beneficial to him.

    So where is our basket of apples? We're really talking about secondaries. Those attacks you mentioned, that thing the Controllers should be drooling over, that's our secondary. There are a couple decent attacks, but as a whole it really doesn't seem to be the kind of damage a sane Controller would be giving up a Support secondary for, you know?

    There's our apples to apples. In a strict primary-secondary comparison, Dominators are a Controller who gave up Support for Assault. So, is Assault really as valuable as Support?
    Edit: In other words, does Assault pull its weight in a team? All other secondaries really seem to, including Support for a Controller...Assault for a Dominator, though, is a marginal benefit to the team.

    Well...it gets a little messy here. If a Dominator and Controller both start a fight by using a control power (and who wouldn't, with a Control primary?), the Controller has the benefit of Containment for the entire battle, while the Dominator quite obviously does not. I don't have a problem with that, mind you, but whenever you're thinking of a Controller's damage, it needs to be doubled in practice--quite the boost there!

    I'm suspicious of the notion that a Dominator who isn't in Domination mode really comes out ahead in terms of the number of hits they need to kill an average foe. Every single hit after the first doing double damage really tends to make a difference...and if a damage-secondary AT isn't clearly doing better than a support-secondary AT, well, that's just not right.

    By all rights, two things should be happening:
    Dominators should be outdamaging Controllers by a very clear margin.
    Assault should be as valuable, in the end, as Support.

    I've yet to have a fight go by where I thought to myself "where would my team have been without my damage"...while not a fight goes by that a Controller's Support isn't welcomed. There's a lack of parity, and that's really where it shows.

    It's true, Dominators aren't the Controllers of CoV. We're supposed to be giving up support and gaining damage. In practice, though, it doesn't seem like the latter is happening. It seems like we bought a Porsche only to find a VW engine in it--Assault looks sweet in the driveway but only "meh" when we hit the road

    In a head on fight controller vs dominator a controller will always win. But look at the key words. Head on. But unfortunately that is never the case. Break frees will always exist. So you can count the controllers double damage non existant.

    Once the Dominator activates a full charge domination it takes like 2 break frees to get out of it.. so over all the dominator once again wins out over control.

    Dominators can also blow through melee's mez protections. A controller will never really get that chance before those ATs eat them alive.

    So in all... dominators do out damage controllers and when it comes down to it... their holds are better. They are better solo but not as good for support. If they get more damage then they shouldn't have as good of a domination as they have now.

    And as far as a porch with a VW engine goes... it's still a porch and VW engine or not it can ride with the best of them. Unless obcourse you have a gimp build. I mean a porch that is only for show and has no real power under it.

    All I know is that the guy hangs out with his friends in abandoned buildings. I mean the only reason you go and wack him is because some other guy, your contact, is spreading rumors that frosty is bad. Sounds like jealousy to me.

    Has anyone noticed that if you don't attack anyone or cause agro in the build, that they wont attack you either. In fact a while ago they let me and my friends use their hangout as an ice skating getaway.

    Maybe we all just have to stop picking on him and give him another chance.

    Technically if a titan and another titan had a child it would also be a titan. But since the damn titans/gods/and whatever else were sooooo into incest that I guess the product of such coupling just can't be called normal and not the same as the source but more of a mutation.

    I guess the moral of the story is that if you want to have a better chance of having normal offsprings, then don't sleep with your mother or sister =) Or you will have 1 eyed freaks with 3 ears.

    HEHEHE for the record.... when i mentioned above that my storm friend got hit... it was because of a spine stalkers who then immediatedly got ran up to to be debuffed. But as an additional kudos to all spines out there... you guys are the only ones smart enough to slow us down =)
  18. The most fun I had was as an invisible Ill/Emp troller. I DUOed with a Storm troller. It was fun watching her tank like 10 villains at a time while I buffed her and kept her alive from unseen. Boy those villains sure were anoyed. I've not seen that many villians just run away from "1 lone" squishy before =) Now mind you they did not run because she was that powerful. But the combined anoyance of not being able to hit her due to buffs and debuffs and instantly getting fully healed when they do hit her and her picking them off 1 at a time kinda was more the reason I think... hehehe. Tx for the Fun Kara.

    Gotta love hurricanes, fortitude, and clear mind =) ... well love them when they are not being used against me =)

    Blaster Damage

    I agree with someone elses idea. Give blaster range attacks more range. A lot more in some cases and give all range attacks a running shot animation. None of this lookit I am ranged (30 feet away) and by the time my animation goes off all the bad guys are in melee range and pomelling me. At least a scrapper has defence and DR that they can easily sleep thru the mobs.

    Yeah definitely a riskier place for scrappers to be.

    What exactly kind of risk are scrappers taking again when they can sleep thru most fights by putting a power on auto..waking up and all the bad guys are dead.

    I play more scrappers than blasters simply because scrappers are low maintenance. I can afk in the middle of a fight to get a drink or some munchies without worrying about it.

    Risk vs Rewards nothing!

    Lets al play controllers instead ! They are more time consuming and hard to raise : )
  20. Hello everyone who is anoyed by the AVs with psi PBAoE. You can get someone with PS and agro the clock king or babbage and they will use their wail (PBAoE). Then just attack him from the back and he is easy kill. You can disarm most psi PBAoE for any AV that way. Only the clocks are stupid enough to keep agro on the PSer though. The rest like Mother M is still something to worry about but a tank with a healer can easily tank up to her.
