I don't mind dying in either zone as much as the fact that when you die, its a long way back. But actually, I loved the RCS, I would hate for it to become the new Ghost Hangout...
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why I'd like to see some "Field Hospitals" or triage sites in isolated places or huge zones. You could be teleported there and be low on HP and endurance like using an awaken. The Hollows is the ultimate example of a zone that desperately needs this. Huge hazard zone with missions all over it even at low levels, and the vast majority of people there don't have a travel power. It is all too common for people to die on the loooong trek to a mission and then have no choice but to be sent to the hospital in Atlas or Sky and start the long dangerous trek all over again. Reminds me of the nightmare days in EQ so many years ago. It could really use a couple of these sites in different places in the zone. Then they could just give you the choice to go to the nearest triage site or the hospital.

Well, thus far I have always resisted the temptation to read any L. Ron Hubbard (certainly not a difficult thing to resist) but I can believe you quite easily. I stand corrected. I bow to L. Ron Hubbards suckage, which surpasses all Hollywood suckage, even that sucktastic movie.

I would normally agree, but personally I thought the Lord of the Rings movies were "as good or better" than the books. Even if in a different way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh, you must have some kind of fully slotted fire shield or something because only that could keep you protected from the white-hot heat that is sure to come your way for a statement like that. To some people that's like saying, "yeah, uh, that movie 'The Bible' is as good or better than that old book that it was based on."
Right now Tolkien, Lewis, Melville, Tolstoy, and a thousand other infamous literary giants are collectively spinning in their graves at high velocity.
I did REALLY like all three of the movies though.

...btw a tanker with neither isn't a tanker at all, it's just a low damage scrapper that doesn't die... in other words, a leech.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, every tanker attack has a built-in Mag 4 Taunt element to it. So, even without Taunt, Provoke, or Invincibility, a tank can still hold agro quite effectively by simply using his fastest attacks and switching targets often. It might not be as easy, but it CAN be done.
To me, that is the biggest problem I have when people expect one of my Scrappers to tank for them. I don't have Taunt or Provoke and my attacks don't have the built-in Taunt that Tankers do, so how could I possible hold agro??? Even if I run around like a crazy person trying to land a blow on everything in sight, I will never come close to being able to maintain agro as good as a tank. Even if I had taunt, I couldn't maintain agro as good as a tank without it. Well, not unless I chose to give up my job and instead of actually trying to damage things, I stand there Taunting all day. What a waste that would be.
I very glad, however, that they will be added an AoE element to tank attacks. Personally when I play a tank I hate feeling forced to "waste" a power pool just for one lousy 6th level power.

Read the book. Nuff' Said. The book was 100x better than the movie, and anyone that say other wise should be shot...
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie. Seriously, has there ever been a movie based on a book that turned out BETTER than the book? I can't think of one and I'm a movie and book junkie. I've read several hundred, if not thousands, of Fantasy/Sci-fi books over the years, and watched many more movies than that. I am a fanatic for both. Anyone who both reads books and watches movies knows that the book is always better (heck even the novelizations of movies is usually better), but both can be great. They are two completely different things that entertain in completely different ways.
Now, as to Starship Troopers, I still say it equals 90210 in Space, BUT it is still an enjoyable popcorn action movie. You just have to sort of check your reasoning at the door when you watch it. It is pulp and stupid dialog to the core. But, hey, the dialog in the Star Wars movies isn't really much better.
Dwimble -
Starship Troopers = 90210 in Space
Oh, and what alway got me is that around the time the infantry grunts are finishing basic training, the babe-who-wants-to-be-a-pilot, who started her training around the same time as them, is at the helm of a STARSHIP and even plotting course corrections!Man, they've sure got a kick-butt training program. Plus, Slick Biff the pilot boy actually HOLDS HIS OWN in the fight with the COMMANDO! Man, the flight corps needs to take over all the training. The army corps must suck. No wonder they all died so easily. Put the pilots in charge of everything; even the hand to hand combat.

And while you're at it, give Faultline some attention. Seriously, does anyone other than a tiny minority of players ever go to Faultline once the "Defeat X Vahz" mission is done? Maybe just adding a cool story arc about the villain Faultline would be enough.

I just took my level 11 Inv/Eng tanker off of the shelf, planning to take those exact pools... and now it looks like I'll have to put it back on the shelf to wait for these changes... ah, well, I have enough alts to play as is, and these changes will (hopefully) make my tanker's life easier.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a 20th level Fire/SS tank in this situation and an 11th level Inv/SS as well. I will definitely leave them parked awhile longer too. I'll just have to play my other 18 characters until then.

I'll continue to hope that one day scrappers/tanks can fight enemies with Fly toggled, without the enemy needing to be -3 con or lower...
[/ QUOTE ]
You could easily do that now by slotting Hover and using a hover/fly bind. Apparantly, fully slotted hover is just a fast as low-level fly with much better control, and a small defense bonus to boot.

Excellent. Thanks! I live about 10 minutes away from the Arlington Convention Center, where the event was held, but unfortunately couldn't attend. Well, I could have at the last minute but couldn't bring myself to spend $40 for two tickets to get in to the last two hours of the weekend long event. Yes, that's right, I wouldn't spend $40 even to see the Stateman himself. Actually, if there was a REAL Stateman I probably would spend much more than that to see him, but I wouldn't spend that to see Stateman's puppeteer.
But I'm glad that someone attended and posted a fairly comprehensive list.
Five stars for you.

I was truly amazed by the Hellions mission with the smoked out office building. Burning walls, alters to unknown gods, and a thick smoke pervaded the entire zone. It was truly marvelous.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that was great when I saw it. A couple of other "new" and cool low-level warehouse missions: Skulls drug lab mission with boiling vats, vials of Superadine, green haze in the air, and so on. A 5th column mission with control panels, 5th logos and color-scheme (like high-level 5th missions), crates with 5th logo, gloomy dim lighting instead of regular warehouse lighting, and so on.
Very good changes. Thanks Stateman! I am an alt-junkie (18 characters and counting) and it was fabulous to enter the same old beginner missions and get these surprises. Excellent!
I used the Suggestions and Feedback option in the petition tool for it. Got a nice response from a GM too.

Yeah, that's why agro should be based on COMBAT LEVEL not security level. There is the reverse problem with regular SKing, which can be equally annoying. Ever been a 10th level hero SKed to a 35th level hero running through Perez? EVERYTHING attacks and chases you even though they can only hit you 5% of the time for wimp damage. *sigh* Few things more annoying than 20 clocks all shooting at you even if they can't hurt you.

Lol, yeah I'd love to be able to use Oppresive Gloom on some low level Vahz just for so they could get a taste of how annoying their bosses really are
[/ QUOTE ]
HA! Or Hurricane, Hurl, or Fire Imps right back at one of the new low-level Outcasts or Trolls in the Hollows. I admit it is a bit tempting, isn't it?
Dwimble -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree that exemplars need to retain their full powerset.
If they don't, that's just plain retarded, because they don't get experience either.
[/ QUOTE ]
They are already more powerful than everyone else because those fewer powers have more slots in them than a "normal" hero of that level. If they still had access to all of their powers then that would grossly overbalance the low-level game.
"Having trouble with your 10th level Vahz mission? No problem, I'll just turn on my Cloaking Device, Super Speed over to the boss, place a few Trip Mines, go Full Auto on them, and then Flame Thrower anyone that is left over. Why don't all six of you grab a sandwich and watch me. I'll be done in a minute. What's that you say? Will my endurance hold out? No problem. My six-slotted Stamina has got it covered."

[ QUOTE ]
...going into battle with both hands and one foot tied behind my back doesn't sound fun to me at all. I earned those powers, and I see no reason to give them up...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, actually you aren't going into battle tied up at all. In fact, if you exemplar down to 10th level (for example) you will be better than every other 10th level character in the game because your powers may be fully slotted whereas theirs aren't.
Complaining about the exemplar system is a bit silly. It is a purely voluntary system where you can in effect "pretend" that you are low-level again to play with low-level heroes and do low-level missions. For those for whom the game is all about leveling and xps, acting as an example to a lower level hero for a while is simply not for you. No problem. Go do your high-level stuff.
Now, I DO think that debt should come off TONS faster when RSKed than when not--not just 2x faster since all is going to debt instead of splitting it. Plus, perhaps you could even get some moderate xps instead of none, or maybe you could build up a "debt reserve" to protect you against future defeats. Now THAT would be a better incentive and encourage you to keep playing instead of quiting the team the second your debt is paid off (which some people are inclined to do under the current system).
Even if they leave it exactly as is, it is still fun for some and not for others, as is the case with everything in this game.

Statesman, I believe your intentions are noble. However, high level minions do not appear to be alone in being blessed with new powers. Outcast minions now use Fire and Ice attacks and use heal other. If this stands it's going to promote more solo play where these minions are involved. More teammates equals more minions with Fire Bolt and Ice Blast, and more importantly Heal Other. This is dramatically more difficult to handle, especially considering low level heroes are the ones being called upon to handle them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think giving the low-level minions some blasts was great. I haven't noticed them being particularly much more difficult than before, and that's coming from a blaster and controller with glass jaws (the characters I've been playing most since Update 2 was released). I still don't think those blasts do as much damage as the bats and other melee junk we're all used to trying to avoid at all costs. I like it because you can't just hover up out of reach and yawn over their pee-shooter pistols anymore. More thought and strategy is required, which in my opinion equals more fun.

Kudos to you Stateman. The fat little kiddies will whine, but that's because Mommy has always given them candy and Nintendo instead of discipline. Thanks for, yet again, telling us the +1 mobs weren't on purpose. You'd think after personally posting it like 8-10 times they'd finally get it. You'd think.

My take on the whole difficulty slider thing is this:
Stateman has said multiple times that making the post 22 game harder is a top priority after Update 2 is behind them. Although I'd love a difficulty slider soon (I'd crank it up when playing my blaster and down when playing my emp/def solo), if they introduce it before "fixing" the post 22 game then they are asking for a world of complaints and ticked off people later. Why? Because they'll get used to how difficult the slider makes it and then get ganked to hell and back after the post 22 fix goes in.
I think they should roll both things out at the same time. Then they'll only have to deal with one round of a$$hat griping instead of two.
Oh, and if they rolled them out at the same time, then the people inclined to whine that (insert irritating nasally voice here) "eww, you made it too hard," can turn down their sliders and get the game closer to the effortless snooze-fest they love.

A lot of people just never grasped what was going on. I was constantly seeing broadcasts of "what are these eyeballs? When did they show up?" and even a few "hey, I think Issue 2 is live". I kid you not.
[/ QUOTE ]
I of course believe you, but it is still mind-boggling. Especially when you consider the fact that when each of these people logged in, the client spend anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours downloading and applying files, and with:
"THIS IS A PARAGON CITY EMERGENCY BROADCAST"
staring them in the face the whole time.

You know, I noticed that too to some degree in King's Row, and to a lesser degree, Steel Canyon. It was weird, many people just weren't at all interested. I kept wondering if one of those eye beams the creatures were shooting was some kind of apathy ray. Even when people did come around they oftentimes just kind of stood around watching.
I don't know, maybe they were watching Joey or something...or maybe it was Utah.

ROFL! We all gave those teleportation/healing tubes a workout last night, that's for sure. Tons of fun!
