That's not updated for I7...

[/ QUOTE ]
You're mistaken. As was said, use the auto-updater, or if you prefer you can reinstall it or download the zip file and manually copy the updated files into the appropriate folders. But in any case, it has had the Issue 7 stuff in it since before it went live.

Fourth Power available: SkyRaider Jet Pack
First Level Available: 20
Location: Sharkhead - Lt Chalmers Mission
Travel Type: Flight
Duration: 90 minutes

[/ QUOTE ]
One correction here...the Skyraider Jet Pack should be 60 minutes duration, not 90 minutes. I did it yesterday expecting that the duration would be 90 minutes but it was one hour.
3. Just use http://www.badge-hunter.com/ instead. It is the same site but without the silly, censored name.

Also, ParagonWiki is an excellent site with hundreds of articles and info on MANY things, with more being added every day. Just enter what you're looking for in the search box, or click thru the Table of Contents into the various categories to browse around.
4. In boots, Pirate and Pirate Folded cannot be made black or any extreme color. The colors appear lightened or washed out.

Screen Shot:
Pirate Folded - Set to black but stays middle-gray.

For Comparison:
Folded Boots - Matte - Set to black and appears black.
Folded Boots - Shiny Leather - Set to black and appears black.

Oh, and Jay is HAWT!
5. I was curious about flight speeds at 22 and also the effects of ED, so just for the heck of it I extrapolated some flight speeds taking ED into account. I also updated the level 50 speeds you listed in your guide.

Tried, in powers and enemies folders :
powersfog.ogg
powersfog2.ogg
powersfog_loop.ogg...

[/ QUOTE ]
That was your problem. You tried "powersfog_loop.ogg" instead of "fog_loop.ogg." The "powers" part of it was wrong. I assume either you or MrNoj got the name "powersfog_loop.ogg" from the list that thingamajig provided a link to a few posts ago. You must have missed that in that list is says the first part of the name is actually the folder the file goes in...not the file name. So, when it says "powersfog_loop.ogg" it actually means "fog_loop.ogg" in the "powers" subfolder. I can't imagine why the creator of the list chose to list the powers that way, because it is obviously confusing. They should have been listed as "powers\fog_loop.ogg" since that is the proper way to denote a filepath.

Anyway, here are the Arctic Fog sounds (all go in the \Powers\ subfolder):

Code:

Arctic Fog's Start: blizzard.ogg
chillhands.ogg

Arctic Fog's Loop: fog_loop.ogg

7. I have a corrupter with Arctic Fog, so I'll track the sounds down for you and post them. I can't promise I'll get it done tonight...but I WILL get it done. I'll try for tonight though.

...and that's where you lost me.

[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. The Thugs MM pistol attacks are without a doubt the coolest thing about the set...and they do pretty good DPS as well. I have all three of them and use them constantly. A Thugs Mastermind (with Pistol attacks) is like having a team of five mini-blasters, one SS/Inv Brute, and one mini-corrupter (I'm Thugs/Dark so I heal and debuff as needed). What a waste to skip your attacks...and boring as well.
9. It was updated a few weeks ago. All the powers are in it, but not all the numbers/details are in it yet. Go to Setup-->Configuration-->Auto Update and uncheck "Use a Proxy Server for Connection". For some reason that setting got changed for many (all?) people, which prevents them from being able to auto-update.

That should enable you to update. Otherwise, download it from the web site and update it manually.
10. Sherk Silver's Character Builder

Once it is installed you can update it manually or automatically from the options built-in.

BTW, for future reference, this was really more suited for the Player Questions forum.
11. Sorry, no scripting like in WoW. Also, I don't know of any way to check the range of a target besides placing a waypoint on the map and gauging it that way. You can do a lot of things with binds, but nothing anywhere near that sophisticated. The developers have intentionally limited them to prevent botting and exploiting.
12. Here are the files for the Fiery Aura auras:

Code:

Blazing Aura's Start: Ignite2.ogg
Fireball1.ogg

Blazing Aura's Loop: FireSword_loop.ogg
aura5.ogg
aura6.ogg
aura7.ogg

Fire Shield's Start: Ignite2.ogg
firezap2.ogg

Fire Shield's Loop: FireSword_loop.ogg

Plasma Shield's Start: Ignite2.ogg

Plasma Shield's Loop: plasmafire_loop.ogg

13. FYI for anyone who has trouble conceptualizing Feet Per Second as a gauge (since that isn't a common reference we see every day), you can get Miles Per Hour by multiplying any FPS figure by .682. Technically it is 0.68181818181818181818181818181818, but ".682" or simply ".68" might be a slightly easier choice to use.

So, for example, a couple of posts above, the 70 feet per second SR reference would become 48 MPH (70 x .682 = 47.74) when rounded to the nearest MPH.
14. [ QUOTE ]
Can't believe I forgot this! The "subliminal" message in Grandville has Lord Recluse call himself Lord Arachnos! That's an error and a half!

[/ QUOTE ]
Are you referring to some background sound file other than the main one of his speech that's playing in the main section of the city? Because in the main one he doesn't refer to himself that way. I provided a transcript of his speech earlier in the thread.

I'd like to know if there is another speech somewhere else in the zone that I missed, because I'd like to get that one too. I know that there is another background file playing when you are away from the main building (that I assume is simply supposed to be the main speech playing at a distance) but I haven't actually tried to see if there are intelligible words in that one. Is that what you're referring to?
15. I tried that once and it was a total pain in the backside to deal with. The things that made it a pain were: bad accuracy (due to having only training enhancements or none at all), slow recharge without SOs...which means that if you miss then you've got to wait a full minute to try again, useless in zones even slightly higher level than you because of the previous points, inconvenient, and so on.

Occasionally it was nice to have (it helped a lot in places like the Hollows), but for the most part it was too annoying to deal with. At later levels I found the power to be great for the recharge buff/debuff, but at lower levels I hated it.

Inertial Reduction, however, I've found to be a fabulous replacement for a traditional travel power. What I did with my */Kin controller was took another travel power temporarily and then respec'd into Intertial Reduction at level 28 when I was high enough level to get it. With my Kin/* defender I just slogged through without a travel power until 18 when I could get IR. Using Airman_America's plan you could easily wait until 18 for IR...or even 28 for controllers. I wish I would have thought of it at the time I was leveling those two characters. It's something to remember for the future though.
16. Just out of curiosity, I wonder what the speeds would be if you didn't use those extra two slots in Sprint and Hurdle...especially when talking about Training Enhancements. After all, increasing the base Jump numbers of those powers by 8.3% probably doesn't equal very much of that initial 37.5 MPH. Even if it decreased the speed by a few MPH, that would probably be more better than having to use up those two slots at low levels. At higher levels slots roll in like crazy, but at low levels every slot is crucial.

Great idea though! I might have to try that on one of my MANY alts.
17. In the official Training Room thread about Grandville, someone asked about silencing the looping Lord Recluse speech. I think the speech is cool (I even posted the text of it in that thread), but here's the info to silence it:

1. Download the silence.ogg file posted earlier in this thread.
2. Rename it to: RecluseVO3_loop.ogg
3. Place it in: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\sound\Ogg\V_Grandville\

Note: Replace "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\" with your City of Heroes (or CoHtest) root folder if you have the game installed in a non-default location.

That should silence his speech.
18. [ QUOTE ]
I hate the Recluse voice. Any way we could get an option to turn it off? I'd turn down my background music volume, but I actually like the music (in other zones too), just not the voice.

[/ QUOTE ]
Read this thread: How to silence specific game sounds.

I'll post the relevant info for you in that thread.
19. Checkout my hastily written Small Guide to Pulling...typos and all (I've REALLY been meaning to update it one of these days).

Most things that anyone would need to know about pulling are covered in that thread...between my original post, the feedback from others, and my follow-up posts.
20. [ QUOTE ]
Those Recluse Screens talking to the citizens has to be the coolest thing I've ever seen in this game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Here's Lord Recluse's speech:

...I must therefore rely on all of you to spread the word of Lord Recluse's vision. A vision of a glorious future in which man is not encumbered by the desire for Truth, Peace, or Justice. A future where you no longer must obey others...where you must no longer bow down to those who deem themselves your superiors...a world in which you can finally say, "no more!" No longer will you have to listen to those who tell you that you must "earn" what you wish...that you must "work hard" to achieve your goals. You will have the strength to take what you desire. <large swell of cheers and chanting from the crowd for about 10 seconds> Through my way...through your villainy, you can have what you want now...you can leave the weak lying in your wake, as you grasp with both hands the glorious future of havoc...the heroes ARE DOOMED. <large cheer for a few seconds> Join me now or you will suffer the same fate that awaits all who defy me. I, Lord Recluse, shall cover this world in DARKNESS. <Large cheers and chanting for about 30 seconds>

Total Cost for working Salvage storage and a working Empowerment Station: 130,000 Prestige

[/ QUOTE ]

7 members at 20,000 bonus Prestige per member = 140,000 Prestige

Minimum number of members necessary to achieve this: 7.

Devs' idea of a small SG: seven members.

[/ QUOTE ]
I have several characters in their lower 20s with that much Prestige by themselves. I have a level 31 Brute that I keep in debt a lot who has 250K prestige by himself.

A single player could easily afford that and more by his or her 30s. An SG with two or three active players could have all that before their twenties.

...Oh and please NEVER say this: orientated. It isn't a word. Oriented, or an orientation is correct. Just throwing that out there.

[/ QUOTE ]
Hate to break it to you...but orientated is, in fact, a word:

Merriam-Webster
Dictionary.com
Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary
23. [ QUOTE ]
That comes off pretty much as "Heh, heh, nice supergroup you've got there. Be a real shame if somethin' were ta break you up. Like some of you not bein' able to get together anymore. But if you hand me just fifteen dollars, I can protect you from that fate."
.
Thanks, but I get a little stubborn around extortion attempts...

[/ QUOTE ]
Extortion? To say that's a huge stretch would be an understatement. You haven't in any way been "prevented" from being "able to get together anymore". In fact, you have the same amount of content that you paid for and subscribed to almost two years ago, plus about ten new zones and a number of new features that you didn't pay any extra for.

If with the release of Issue 6/CoV you suddenly couldn't participate in Super Group chat, or for example, enter PI unless you bought CoV, then you might have a point. That would, in fact, be a bait and switch tactic and possibly could even be pushed over into the "extortion" category. But the fact remains that you still have access to everything that existed prior to Issue 6, plus the three new zones that came with Issue 6.

They released a new product. It included some new featues for CoH. If you want those new features then you have to pay for them. Future issues will include more feature you don't have to pay extra for, and future expansions will contain more featues that you DO have to pay extra for. That's the way it works. They aren't "extorting" money from you. They made a product. If you don't want what that product contains, then keep on playing the product you paid for. You have no right to anything else, and neither do they owe you anything else. And they aren't doing some underhanded thing by not "giving" you whichever of the new features you happen to be interested in, without you having to pay extra for them.

Mob Vs Spawn

[ QUOTE ]
2) people will still use the term wrong, but at least I tried to help literacy

[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is that you have simply made an absolute, unequivocal declaration that it is "wrong" and an issue of "literacy" without regard to the context of the industry in which the term is being used. You are talking about using these terms "correctly" but in the end it is actually you who are in fact "wrong".

If you were out in the street and talking to someone about a mob, then everyone would understand that you were talking about a group rather than an individual. In MMORPGs (every one of them), however, "mob" has always, from the beginning, meant a "single" entity...and in fact stands for Mobile Object, which has been mentioned already.

The fact that you or someone else doesn't know that or doesn't like that, doesn't change it. As a technical writer, I know that some people are actually confused by some industries' references to "male" and "female" parts. But, that is the proper terminology and someone who doesn't like it or doesn't know any better isn't going to change it. And them saying "that's an inanimate object...it can't be male or female" doesn't make them right. It is, in fact, a "male" or "female" part as defined within the context of that industry.

In MMORPGs, a "mob" is a single enemy, critter, or the like. "Spawn" is used to describe one or more "mobs" or objects generated by the game, and which are usually attached to or associated with each other as a group. A spawn could be an individual mob or a group of mobs. In CoH a spawn could be one minion, one boss, a glowie, a crate, 16 minions, or any other combination that CoH allows in a single associated group of objects, entities or mobs.
