Congrats! I'm happy for both of you!
Thanks, Thor, for tipping me off that this part of the forum was open. -
Blaming AE for these changes is still using AE as an scapegoat. These same arguments have been raised when other content was added in the past.
The problem is with people not having patience. Just like with quick katies, there was so much hate about "IT" and it was the blame for no teams in other zones and every other "issue" that impatient players had.
Now it's AE/MA that is to blame. I say stop blaming it and blame yourselves if things aren't going as you like.
Personally, I'd like Co* to yank the e-mail system so I don't have to look at the red e-mail in my menu. But I blame myself for not be able to deal with some stupid red letters. But I do see that people rather focus on other things besides people who are abusing the e-mail system to scam people out of money.
When that issue gets cleaned up, then maybe some won't look so hypocritical. -
I think the problem is the farm HATERS. If people just stop hating others and being hypocritical then the game might survive longer.
I have seen the hate affect 1000s of players from all over the place. The hate has been so strong this time that divisive and hateful threads are lasting much longer than at any other time during the game. -
Yeah, the farm haters all say in their hypocracy that MA farmers will kill the game.
It's actually the hate that is killing the game. Farm haters hate because they feel ignorant for not figuring out how to increase their rewards.
People's so called protecting the game comes off as nothing but hate.
I've never minded answering questions like where to go to get capes no matter the lvl of the questioner.
I'd rather protect the game by being inclusive and helpful instead of discriminating and hateful and demanding that people play the game one specific way. -
I gave this thread a zero star because it's mostly nothing but whinning and people trolling other people while telling those other people that THEY are trolls when the poster is the pot calling the kettle black.
Most people are scum. That is a simple fact. If they weren't then there would not be any talk of farms, rating issues, or griefing. Even the whinners are scum because all they're doing is spreading the hate.
And a clue... reporting an Arc as a farm IS a form of griefing because you are intentionally doing something to hurt another player. You are trying to get someone banned. If that's not griefing, I don't know what is. It's also the worse griefing because by reporting someone for a perceived violation is preventing someone from accessing a "PAID FOR" game. Therefore those who did the reporting and got someone banned, caused them to truely lose something they paid for. That is also called theft.
Now for all you ego maniacs who think you got something worth gold in MA, get over yourself. If you had something worthwhile, it would be in a book, not in a game.
IT DOES NOT MATTER! The best writers in the world could come to MA and write something and I can guarantee that they'll get some 0, 1, and 5 star votes. I could also guarantee that they wouldn't care either.
MA has proven that people are no better than a bunch of monkeys with chainsaws. A tool was given to the player base and most of them (which includes the farmers and farm-haters) found all sorts of ways to use it to spread chaos, hate and fear.
Many knew this was coming. Those who have greater intelligence knew that I14 was going to get pushed out before it was ready. They knew that there was going to be alot of effort made to find any way what-so-ever to turn it into a farming session. People have been farming things in CoH since day one. They knew that people were going to use it as a new opportunity to attack other people for grins and giggles. They knew that there were going to be whinners crying about being griefed. The same thing happened when the PvP zones opened up and they added badges to those zones mixing two radically different player groups together.
Most of the really good players who were good people have left the game for other things. All that is left are the diehards and the uptight, meddlesome, and retentive ones who'll whine about everything and spew out hypocritical garbage. Yeah loved the hate posts about too many meow spams because they couldn't waste $15 a month playing web kissyface under Atlas and waste broadcast space on stupid stuff like "how mean parents are and how they love to irritate peeps on the webz because they can get away with it".
Be more productive. Demand that the game be free of e-mail spam from those stupid scam sites. Other threads have touched on that topic but instead of focusing on that irritation, the playerbase is severely divided and whinning about everything else including 1 star griefing. -
Had a librarian look it the critique. They saw nothing wrong with it. They stated that it looked like something found in most book lists that are out today looking over lowend material. It wasn't editor quality because an editor would have seen the overuse of commas and thrown the material back in the face of the writer and yelled out "Crap! Now get the hell out of my office!"
Oh, but maybe what is wanted is a critique like this; "I'm sorry Mr. Smith, but we've had a large number of submittals this year and we couldn't possibly fit another book into our schedule. The proofreader can only go so fast. Thank you for your understanding. Good day!"
And a note about professional writing; writers do not argue with editors or critics. Arguing with other people is the first thing that kills so many wannabe writer's books.
If the writer didn't like it and felt compelled to attack the critique, then they should give up writing altogether. The world is harsh and people can be harsher. I have knife and gunshot wounds to prove that. You are not as special as your mommy and teachers have told you.
If people fancy themselves as novelists here, then they need to stop wasting time here and write their novel elsewhere where they are not limited to 1000 letter sections. Get over yourselves. You may not be as good as you think and your friends are going to pick your side everytime because they are supporting you and their critiques don't count as professional critiques because they are biased as well in a more positive way.
There was mentionings of star padding so don't whine about getting low stars when you're obviously trying to force high stars.
At this point, given the venom spewed by a few in here, I would see that same pretentiousness come out in the stories and I would auto zero star the whole lot of stories.
I've gotten 1 stars and 5 stars and everything in between. I knew this issue was coming which was why I did the grown up thing and accepted that I was going to get good and bad along with honest and not-so-honest ratings. The ratings are coming from a bunch of people playing a game. A game that is open to all sorts of people from teen on up.
When I can see kids talking in Atlas about how they treat all the people they don't know on the web like dirt because they know they can get away with it and that it is fun to mess with people like that, I have very low expectations from them and the groups they are around.
Ratings should be the least of peoples worries because the actions of late in the game show an underlying problem which is that the people associated with CoH are now being viewed as hateful and discriminating and the type of players that the normal players will not want to be around. It doesn't matter that there are a few good players still left, there are several times more bad players giving the whole game a bad name.
Yeah I know the 1 apple in a bushel quote, but we are talking about 85% of the bushel being bad. And at this point I'd say that 15% are good players is being very generous. -
I find the noise alot more plesant than seeing the removal of MA spam in favor of a couple of guys comparing their manhoods in public chat or a couple of geeks playing kissy face under statues....
I guess there's the entertainment of seeing people belittling other people.... -
Ah the golden age where everyone was so wrapped up in playing new things, there was no time to start whining about how other players were playing the game.
-
What I get from all this is discrimination. Non-farmers want to get rid of all the farmers because of jealousy and other reasons.
Yeah, in alot of ways first timers are being dumb by not playing the content. They are a burden on players who have been around a long time. Everyone has to remember that Noobs have been around for a very long time. Even doing the content and getting to 50 did not ensure that a player got it all. I have seen lvl 50s from years ago who didn't have a clue how to play team style.
Now, those people who are Altaholics and have 20+ toons are being hated on for taking a short cut with new toons they create. Altaholics have been around a long time and they have run the content many times. Should they be hated on for not wanting to spend 3-6 more months running content from lvl 1-50 which at this point they find boring after having done it 20 times?
People have come up with all sorts of ways to discriminate against others like checking badge count and digging for other info on players to figure out wheather or not to alienate them.
By finding reasons to hate others because they asked a silly question will ensure the death of this game. People don't like haters and there seems to be a fair number of haters in the game as of late.
I rather do like I have always done. I am nice, I answer questions no matter how dumb they may be and I prove that people CAN be nice in this MMO and that there is more to the game than farms, stats, and markets. Being helpful has turned some people who started out as farmers into more well rounded players.
Some may say that being nice invites leeching, but in the 4 yrs I've been playing, my being nice has not resulted in a single case of a noob leeching onto me and driving me nuts.
People who feel comfortable in their perceived popularity forget what it's like to be hated. Before AE, how many times did the callout for sewer runs go out? People will always try to find the path of least resistance. That is human nature and you can't fight that. You can try, but you can also bang your head against the wall and see where that gets you. -
Memphis Bill, I've known some of the contributions to the game that you have made, but in this instance, I have an issue with someone saying welcome to the forums. To me it comes off as snarky seeing how a look at my history proves i have been on for a long time. My post count is low because I don't feel the need to be glued to the forum when I can be playing the game instead. Playing the game is alot more fun than having the 87% chance of getting a snarky comment from a forumite who spend most of their time here doing nothing more than trying to prove their beta-male existance. I have stated that I feel that I don't need a welcome and normally I'd think people would read that and understand my point of view and not come up with obsure references to defend their action. Just like some things rub you the wrong way, some things rub me the wrong way and just like you are entitled to your views, I am entitled to my own.
Again, people do not HAVE to stick their noses in and tell others what to do. If you think something is wrong, turn it over to a Mod.
I should not have to have someone tell me to use searching if I don't want to use searching for valid reasons. Of course is Forbin wasn't a troll, he'd been long gone instead of posting additional links which have no bearing on anyone except to provide something that he himself should follow as sage advice. By not walking away, he was the one trying to provide the drama and showing a compulsive disorder in having to have the last word. I feel certain that he'll add another post after this one with some snarky comment in it.
If he doesn't, then I'll give him more credit next time. -

Thank you Munkilord, I shall listen to your words.

Ok, so I didn't listen right away. I couldn't help myself because of the misinformation. I'll listen this time! I promise. I will not answer whatever retort they may come back with. I won't even read it. -

Let's see . . .
Politely welcomed the OP to the forums.
[ QUOTE ]
Welcome to the forum.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
A moment to look at how long I have been on would inform you that I didn't need any welcomes. To welcome someone who has been around for as long as I have comes off as being obtuse and trollish.
[ QUOTE ]
Explained that his suggestion has been brought up many times and quite recently.
[ QUOTE ]
You have posted one of the oft repeated suggestions about RMT spam.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Comes off as being an obtuse know-it-all.
[ QUOTE ]
Offered helpful information on the search feature to assist the OP with his future suggestions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Comes off as you trying to tell me what to do...
[ QUOTE ]
Provided the names of the threads within the past 30 days so the OP can read them over and see if anyone has already offered improvements to his suggestion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Comes off as you acting like what you search for matters which is self grandising, and doesn't matter to anyone else.
[ QUOTE ]
Provided the quote from one of our moderators advising people to post in the pre-existing RMT threads as he locked that thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Using moderator quotes from lord knows when does not validate your trolling.
[ QUOTE ]
Pointed out that the OP sems to be unaware that RMTers can't spam chat channels for a year.
[ QUOTE ]
Did you notice the OP doesn't know that RMTers can't send spam via broadcast or any other chat channel because of the trial account restrictions that went into effect (affect?) when I12 went live a year ago?
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Comes off as you trying to find fault in someone else when you missed the point about the snipet you took. I didn't have to take into account that it was blocked nor am I REQUIRED to know because I don't spam in broadcast nor do I have any temp accounts. There is actually nothing wrong with not knowing anything about an obscure and useless point which has no bearing on me or my playing the game. That means I don't come off as an irritating know-it-all sticking their nose in where it wasn't asked.
[ QUOTE ]
Offered a possiblt simpler solution to the OP's suggestion.
[ QUOTE ]
Or they could simply prevent Trial accounts from sending emails.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
That got lost in all the other junk you was spewing out. It's still burying a gem in a pile of dung. People will still only see the dung and not the gem you buried.
[ QUOTE ]
Added additional forum rules to the information provided by another poster.

5. Non-Constructive posts are prohibited.
Below is a list of examples of non-constructive posts. As a rule, non-constructive posting is not permitted.
Spam is considered to be repetitive posting of the same topic

You totally misunderstood the concept of spam so that statement is not valid to this situation. Again, using misquotes to a situation comes off as trollish and obtuse.
Spam n: Unsolicited usually commercial e-mail sent to a large number of addresses.
That is directly from a dictionary sitting on my desk so my thread is not spam by the definition laid out by Websters. So on that note, you are dead wrong to say that I'm spamming.
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously if you think I've been attacking you, and violating the forum rules by providing you with the the very rules you seem to be unaware of in this thread, then I strongly suggest that you or Munki click on the notify moderator button down there by the post extras, and we'll see what they have to say.
[/ QUOTE ]
There you go telling someone else what to do. Yes I have the right to feel that your posts are attacks. I don't need to drag mods in because I can take care of myself.
When people like you get closeminded and don't think outside the box, I actually pitty you because you don't have the intelligence to realize that everyone is not like you. People think differently and where you may think you are doing one thing, it comes off totally different to someone else. And in type, it can very easily come off as something you may or may not have intended.
So in the recent atmosphere of people telling others what they can and can't do in the game with regards to I14, nerves are getting stretched very thin.
At the least, you could have made your suggestions in PMs or said nothing and differed this thread to the mods. I'd listen to a mod before I'd listen to you because you are nothing more than a player. Players pretending to be mods just irritate other players because you really have no right to tell someone else what to do just like in real life. I seriously doubt that you'd get a positive response if you went out on the streets and started directing people on which direction they should walk. If a normal person wouldn't do it in real life, then it shouldn't be done here. -
Thank you Munkilord, I shall listen to your words.

I like to thank everyone who is in support of this. There are several ways to stop spam e-mails. I, like everyone else, just want it to stop because of the ever rotating list of ignored spammers I've got. I have 23 alts and each one gets spam mail and each one adds to my global ignore list which releases old bans in favor of new bans. The system doesn't work now and I feel there is enough interest to see it fixed.
Now Forbin seems to want to attack this thread which I find odd. Maybe he's a spammer with 100s of alt accounts spamming the heck out of everyone. Regardless, it is still the pot calling the apple black because this is not spam, but a single post on a topic. There are no other topics created by me on this issue. Spamming is the repetitive postings by one person.
At this point, it seems that only 1 person is not being constructive while being repetitive at the same time and that is Forbin .
If he wants to attack something, he should go after the 1000s of "I made a new bunny toon!" threads that do more to clog the forums than new posts about old subjects.
And searching is a waste of time because when people search, there are 100s of returns on a regular basis to most inquiries. I don't have the time to sift through all that junk to find what I need. And when people add to the problem by using keywords to make sure their thread gets a hit, that's just making things worse. No, searching is not the uber solution to forums. People do not have to read every thread nor do they have to respond to them negatively.
If I can show respect by allowing others to use forums as they please, then the same courtesy should be given to me when I'm making a valid post. If I start talking about making roosters and bunnies, then by all means tell me to stop talking about nonsense. Other than that, stop trying to spread the hate. -
There has been alot of talk about spam e-mails being the worse thing about CoH. I think setting a limitation on e-mails would clean that up. Make e-mails accessable to only friends, SG/VG and coalitions. If these were the only things you could e-mail, then the spam would be stopped dead in it's tracks. The only other way for the spammers to hit CoH if this was implimented, would be in broadcast but that could be petitioned.

Hello Arc creators.
We know everyone has different styles to creating. Some make huge dramas of epic portions. Some do little skits.
I can be both, but I like doing the skits and keeping things light and fun. By no means do I have a ROFL story like Ronin, but I think my Arc "Little Guys" #1250, will get a chuckle out of some.
So while you check out MA, take a little time to check out my arc. I could even make suggestions on other arcs to play that i have found to be funny or good. -
Dz131,
Everyone else is right. No one in here asked for a critique. If you wanted to give your opinion on Doug's work, you should have gone to DA. There you can be as you please art-wise.
Here, it is mostly good job stuff and that's it. We like to make each other feel good about what we're doing. If you can't handle that and feel compelled to be a downer for which we didn't ask for, then please, go else where.
Trust me, I know these people and bringing poop to their party will only get you mobbed. They like this area as drama free as possible. Respect their wishes or move on. You'll be outnumbered on this and you will lose.
Just saying... -
Theme songs?
How about this!:
I get knocked down, I get up again, no Freak will keep me down.
I get knocked down, I get up again, No malta will keep me stunned.
Oh ... Posi-boy, Oh ... Posi-boy, Oh ... Posi-boy
I'll take a red drop, I'll take a yellow drop .... -
Hello all. I'll like to get in on this as well. I've created 3 arcs, but I'll only push 1.
Arc Title: Little Guys
Arc ID: 1250
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Dursagon
Suggested V/H/N: Neutral
Faction(s): Custom
Difficulty Level: 1-54 easy configuration
Synopsis: You must help out a poor dragon with his infestation problem. He asks that you don't break his stuff, but, it WAS really old stuff...
I just did it to have fun with the new system. Alot of other people have come up with some very humorous stuff and I think that doing funny stuff is alot better than reading about all the whiners in the I14 threads dropping dung on a cool idea. -
I got 600 the other day but I have been working so hard to smash through that barrier that I haven't posted anything about it.
Now I'm at 610. -
I vote toxic_shia.
It warmed my heart to look at the work... or was it the character psionically squeezing the life out of me until I voted... can't be sure...
I just liked it. -
Thank you all for the comments. I'm glad everyone is having as much fun with this piece as I did.
As pointed out, this power set seems popular because of it's economic and enviromentally friendly nature. Guess even heroes need to tighten the belt during these times of hardship. Just too bad it has a high endurance drain with it.
Now that I've been spurred by the comments, off to do other heroes! Mass transit girl.... -
Hello all.
With current events running as they are, I've been in a humorous mood lately and that is why my latest work is the way it is.
I give to all , Bikeman so that you can have a little fun. -
