MA Portal Noise

I first noticed this on test a week or so ago, why did the Devs add the constant "grinding" noise to the portal? It can get very annoying after 30 mins or so, while editing an arc...

Request to the devs: Reduce the volume by about 70% or remove it.

Have you tried going into the power suppressed back room? No portal noise, and no player powers to distract and irritate.

I have, and I could still hear the sound effects from players outside the room. Which is the main reason I avoid the "popular" MA zones, like Atlas.

I find the noise alot more plesant than seeing the removal of MA spam in favor of a couple of guys comparing their manhoods in public chat or a couple of geeks playing kissy face under statues....

I guess there's the entertainment of seeing people belittling other people....

If all you are doing is working on an arc, why not just turn your sound off or down?

I can't understand asking for something to be changed that you can already control.

Ok... turn volume down when editing my arc. Turn it back up when testing. Rinse, repeat...

Or, they could just fix it - didn't have any sound effect when it was first implemented, and I didnt hear anyone complaining.

It can't be that difficult to turn your volume down.

The noise is there for immersion effect. To immerse the player into the game and make them feel like they are actually 'the' hero.

If you want sound effects that are really noisy when you are busy trying to talk to your SG members on a VOIP, try standing inside a portal room in Portal Corp, now that is a loud sound effect.

This. I edit here. I didn't notice any outside sound effects, unless they patched it today and broke it.
