The MA-Arc-eting thread: advertising

Greetings from across the pond, from the land of bad teeth and tea drinking...the UK (Although up my way we add whiskey to our tea and attract attention away from our teeth with what we wear under our kilts).

MA-Arc-eting

I've been talking with a few people on the European boards and in game about this and it seems that a few people have created flyers/posters/videos/general eye candy in order to promote and market their Mission Architect creations, as well as just for fun.

Anyone wishing to show off their glorious creations and start selling their arcs to us is invited to do so here.

Along with a link to your poster/flyer/video/etc pop up the following (optional) information which should be enough for interested players to find your mission easily within the system.

(As far as I know only one of the top two items would be needed for a player to find your arc)

Arc Title:
Arc ID:
Creator Global/Forum Name:
Suggested V/H/N:
Faction(s):
Difficulty Level:
Synopsis:
Link to More Details or Feedback:

Please remember that there will be opportunity to talk about your arc at length in the MA forum so please keep the synopsis brief or create a link to more details/feedback.

I hope you don't mind me hopping onto your boards and saying hello whilst selling my wares.

Hopefully this thread is useful and you like my 'work'.

PS Come on over to my side and post your ads. I've a similar thread running there also.

Several people are missing the point of this thread.

There are dozens of places to post your adverts for your Missions but this one is SPECIFICALY for people who have made some type of media to advertise their mission, like videos, posters, theme songs (that would be neat huh?)

This

It's the new form of spam.

Anyone posting here without some creative material, copying and pasting their arc details from another thread is either lazy, stupid (seriously, the board is called SCREENSHOTS AND FANART) or selfish.

Makes no difference which, if you approach your arc design like you do your forum posts I have no desire to try thos arcs.

My apologies everyone, I just assumed this was another way to introduce my arc to my friends on this board. I am working on a poster for my arc, just haven't had the time yet.

But lazy, stupid, selfish? Really? Yikes.

harsh: yes
judgemental: maybe
closed minded: i'm not sure i follow

I've been looking at some really cool stuff in this thread. Some people really putting in a ton of effort to create something worth looking at. And then you have some people just push in and dump a few details on. I don't know why but that just doesn't sit right with me.

Well, I copy+pasted my arc details from another thread, but I also put a lot of work into the creation of those videos, the arcs, and the little summaries on each of them. Not sure if you were directing that quip towards my post, since I specifically said I copy+pasted.

Absolutely not Fearghas. I thought your trailer was an example of some excellent work. I really enjoyed it.

My gripe is that I don't think its very sporting for people to copy and paste details (with no poster/video) in 2 seconds to try and grab some free attention when people like you and others on this thread have done such a great job in putting time and effort into your creations.

I don't think it's right.

Whew okay.

And yeah, when you present it that way, I can see what you mean. I'd be irritated as well if I posted a thread specifically for people to post their arcs with videos/posters in an art forum and folks just copied+paste descriptions without any art in it.

PROTECTING FLAMES
Arc ID #4734. Level 46+, Heroic
http://www.the-cow.net/temp/protflame_live.jpg <- Poster

You are approached by one of the famed Paragon Protectors and asked to investigate corruption within the PPD. Then things get somewhat hotter.

Contains an AV and an EB. And the last mission of the arc is actually failable.. You have been warned.

Hey folks

Here's my arc, as well as the poster I whiped up for it, using a combination of Zbrush and photoshop. Unfortunately, it would seem that even using a poster to advertise your arc doesn't always work... Still sitting at 0 playthroughs.

Regardless:

Arc name: The Balance of Power
Author: Xer'Tul
Arc ID: 26931
Length: 4 missions long, 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
Faction: Custom: The Granox (2 elite bosses in the Arc)

I'd have to agree with you there. When it comes to marketing my arcs it seems I've been a complete failure. I'm going to fire myself.
