Just as a comparison, I went over to WAR to hook up with a RL friend. He needed me to buy the game because since beta ended, he has had precisely three PUGteams, none of them full and nowhere near getting a proper - scuse me - WAAAARGHband *splutter* together.
(Did I get that right or is it more towards the back of the throat?)
I've been a little luckier than that over the weekend, but it's never been better than a threesome at best and no-one talks.
Face it, kiddies, COH may be on the small side population-wise but it's very loyal, very healthy, and very sociable. -

kinda like the bracers of Wonder Woman for example?

You don't really use that kind of shield the way you use a full-sized shield. In games, that's usually modelled as armour of some kind.

Except EverQuest's art department, where a chainmail bikini is quite enough to see off dragonfire. -

"Well it beats the dole queue old chap, speaking as a coder who had to work as a shelf stacker around the start of the millennium. I'd rather contribute to the team and earn stuff than sitting at the back of a farm team and freeloading."
Oddly the chap logged shortly after.
Jumper for goalposts? Mmm, marvelous...!

Did they make him their chief? -
Bah. Their version of Ruby needs a belly tee and arm bracers. And the hair's just a little bit over here...
*cue random fiddling with costume creator*
No, a SERIOUS costume contest for st00f would be very kewl -
Prefer Tempered Readiness myself for the Recharge bonus. Sadly my favourite Devastation is also FOTM.
Slightly surprised Decimation is cheaper, though... -

You want to be a little more specific, DW?
Aside from some places which, frankly, you would see in every town and city in the US (and in some in the UK), I'm having trouble seeing the coincidences.

Lots of street/suburb names (Silver Lake, The Gaspee, etc), a few architectural styles, and the damn big octopus in the harbour. -
Maybe NCSoft could sponsor the prize, get Miss Liberty to deliver it, and have Providence (clicky) invaded by Skuls on the day?
Come to think of it, take a look at that photo on Wikipedia. Doesn't that remind you just a teensy bit of Founders Falls?
Some interesting coincidences here too... -
DW's build is a bit more stripped-back than your average BuffyBot, and allows for pretty effective soloing:
- All Emp powers except Absorb Pain (never liked it, and it might sometimes be better to let one team member go and keep healing the rest than put their heal source at risk)
- Stamina set
- Recall Friend
- Hasten
- Air Superiority (solid Moderate damage plus knockdown) and Fly
That leaves enough room before 38 for a sleep, a stun, a knockback and a snipe, as well as your base L1 attack.
If I was doing it all again, I'd probably choose Cold, Dark, Rad or Power instead of Psi, drop Recall and Regen Aura and have more attacks.
Post-40, Power Mastery is your friend and delicious and moist (Power Build Up to buff your buffs, Temp Invuln for a little DamRes, Total Focus for a little SMASH! every now and again, and Conserve Power to make sure you never run dry between RAs).
Personally, I'd leave group buffs like Assault / Maneuvers off the menu and have extra attacks - particularly any mezzes you can stack (Bone Smasher / Stun on Power, stackable holds on Cold) or imposes an AoE enemy debuff (debuffing your enemy is buffing the team, remember).
Final bit of advice: Invention sets are your friend, particularly anything that gives a Recharge buff. -
My very first toon is Emp/Psi and I still get invites whenever DW her very self shows up. When you're dealing with the vast amounts of damage that can be inflicted on the ITF and STF, Emps can still make a big difference to a team.
That said, no one class of Def has a monopoly on all the good stuff...
...simply because we're all awesome. Every single Def rocks hard and heavy. Even the pointy stick mob. (clicky for explanation) -
The biggest difference between an incorrigible barbarian people and the height of civilisation is who's writing the history book (or Daily Mail / FOX News leader).
eg: were Vikings a bloodthirsty barbarian people? Classics of literature, advanced ship designs, extensive trade network and a reputation for OCD cleanliness (due to their habit of taking a bath at least once a week.)
Yet they still have a rap for being little better than horn-hatted hooligans. I suspect it's simply because they were better at it than we were.
Possibly in some far flung future we may even discover there was an advanced culture hidden by the violent facade of Millwall fans. -
Quick Q: if you stick this into an AoE debuff, does it apply to every possible targer or just the anchor?
-
I love Gravity / Storm (just to say the words, actually, as well... Gravity Storm....)
Very, very good lockdown type set if used carefully - or throw your enemies around like ragdolls if you're feeling capricious. -
Personal advice for playing En/: get Hover, Fly, AND Air Superiority. Why?
HOVER: Not only can you escape a lot of melee action, the devs were smart enough to work out that knockback becomes knockdown when applied from the air. So what was an annoyance to the groundlings suddenly becomes a control power.
FLY: Similarly, escaping into the 3rd dimension is useful against many mobs and is plenty fast enough on most maps.
AIR SUP: For anything that DOES follow you. Also hugely useful on it's own on the ground, as it 90% of the time knocks down anything that's attacking you and gives a reasonable DAM output for small END expenditure. -
AR/Dev 50, Elec/En 50, En/En 39, and a couple of lowbies wandering about.
I also play my Cold/Cold def as an Offender/Blaster mostly and can take care of most things -

Is this some kind of GhostRaptor baiting?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, that would be leaving a large plate of raw mince out on a test track next to a Bugatti Veyron.
Or is that the Stig? -
As long as you do it farrah way from me, I'm not bothered.
-
And is it composed of red, oddly blinking lights or numbers, counting down and wired to anything?
...or anyone? -
I've just been happily playing in an 8-man team for 3 hours. Just like last night, when I was also happily on an 8-person team. On Defiant both times.
Sorry, we're fresh out of Dooooooooom™ here. Go try SWG if you want to see something imploding. -
Pain Domination.
Wait, that really IS in I13. Can't wait to see the animations... -
What jumped out at me was...

A new game system that allows players to earn tokens by completing Trials, Task Forces, Strike Forces, Raids, etc. The most challenging and time consuming tasks grant the most reward tokens, which can be redeemed throughout Hero and Villain zones for recipes, enhancements, salvage, costume pieces, badges, inspirations and other game items.
[/ QUOTE ]
...I like. But what I'm really betting on/hoping for is that Story Arcs - maybe even regular missions too - will grant tokens, just fewer of them.
So rather than having to commit X hours straight as a piece to a team for a shot at a rare recipe, i can just gradually save up enough tokens over the time I do have. -
Maybe right at the end. "For all this, we get a BADGE???"
"Badges are important."
"Why?"
"They're shiiiiiny." -
DW - still here, still healZ0ring, still sending the evil to the naughty step.

Nathan Fillion as Statesman or Synapse?
Or perhaps even Positron?
[/ QUOTE ]
Noooooooooo! Don't touch the hair! It is the source of his arcane power! *weeps at very thought*
Personally, I'd rather see Nathan as your average, ordinary, workaday hero, like Apex in the original Top Cow comic books.
The "signature" heroes should do, well, what they do in the game, which is stand around looking pretty (or moody, in the case of Manticore), turning up only during setpieces, and leaving a distinctly more average bunch to sort out a major problem facing Paragon.
If I can't be in it personally, btw, I request to be played by Pauley Perrette. Thank you and goodnight. -
Fixed that thread title for you.
Checked IMDB, it's still in Development Hell with a provisional slate (release date) in 2010.
And if I had my way, it'd be like Mystery Men re-written by Joss Whedon.
With Nathan Fillion in it.
