    Your point about Tactics is a valid one and any AT can use tactics without having to have a power pool with all the bells and whistles. Designating someone of the team to be LEAD or SCOUT is probably the most basic yet little used tactic for a group. Instead of allowing the Tank or someone w/ Invis or Stealth to go first and look the situation over, too many players insist on running pell-mell into rooms or taking a notion to fly ahead and see whats on the balcony above.

    This is a problem I have with many Pick Up Groups, You usually get at least 1-2 Yahoos who insist on rushing ahead and agroing mobs and then expecting the group to come save their.... cape.

    Also... take Pulling for example. Why do all Blasters think they are master Pullers? They Snipe into a group and while it sometimes works to pull a couple, the manual states that the best pull is a low damage attack. The higher damage the attack, the better the chance to agro the whole mob.

    Simple Tactics say that after you PULL a mob that you duck behind a corner or object and force the MOB to come to YOU. Even after I get people to PULL mobs they stand there afterwards and those in the mobs with Ranged attacks (usually suerior in range to ours) blast away.

    Say that you get someone to PULL a Mob and actually teach them to duck behind cover.... what happens? Another Yahoo or two will rush the agroed the mob BEFORE they round the corner and engage them too close to the main group.

    Sorry for the Rant but I go thru this nonsense everyday if I join or form a Pick Up Team. Most of my regular team mates have departed or are off playing DDO or WOW. My point was; you don't need a special power pool to use Tactics.

    Alot of players seem to want the game easy enough that such lack of tactics are not penalized. Unfortunately, as soon as they sense they can do this in the mission they also want to bump up the Difficulty and then can't understand why the whole team is wiped out.

    On the other side of the coin, many players are only haoppy if the Difficulty is so high that Pulling every mob is essential as is having a well balanced team makeup. I for one do NOT like the game style of having to pull each mob and waiting to play until I can find that certain De-Buffer or required AT. I would prefer a level of difficulty that requires SOME tactics but not for each and every mob! Sometimes its just nice to *SMASH*!

    Baloney. You bragged that you had played every character to at least level 14 as part of your piece to give yourself credibility. When someone calls you on it you say that you played some of the ATs BEFORE The Hollows was introduced. What a Joke! Your Credibility goes down the drain since you are talking about playing these characters post I5 and Post-ED.

    You said that even against Bosses you had at worst a 50/50 defeat ratio. The game is farly easy from levels 1-14. How many of these characetrs were played without having to deal with Issue 5 and ED??? How many other little facts did you leave out of your speil? You have ZERO Credibility.

    I am in a Catch 22 situation. My Tanker just hit Level 34 and I am earning 1/10 the Influence as I am Experience. I am in SG Mode so my SG can earn a Base and pay the ridiculous Rent!!!

    I can no longer afford to play in SG mode. I didn't even have enough Influence this time to upgrade my SOs.

    The Devs keep increasing the difficulty and now you have to choose between a base and keeping your Enhancements from going RED? When will this nonsense end?

    You'd think after the last few masssive nerf fests we have been thru the Devs could work on something to make the game more interesting... you know; new content and fixing some of the bugs? That kind of stuff. I'll adopt a wait and see attitude bit I have already had my fill of AVs and Giant Monsters who were too hard and not worth the time.

    I still like this game but like many others do not always play during prime time and often have trouble finding a well balanced let alone competent team. If they keep changing the game to make the hard core players happy they will lose me and most of their *casual* players IMHO.

    I play this game to feel like a superhero, not to feel like a slightly powered street gang. The Devs seem fixated on Street Gangs and Halloween Monsters. I have been playing since the game was released and I have been patiently waiting to fight actual SUPER-VILLAINS.... ciolorfully dressed, super-powered Bad Guys.... not carbon copy thugs with a generic set of powers. Super-Villains usually have some thugs with them also so that doesn't have to change but I wonder when I will see NAMED SUPER-VILLAINS leading the bad guys (and I'm not talking about more AVs either).

    I hope I don't have to wait for Marvel's Game and their awesome roster of SUPER-VILLAINS to have the kind of battles I have waited 2 years for.

    You know, not all of us have Level 50s that were power leveled and who have every accolade ever given and are bursting with HOs. Alot of us find the Giant Monsters already extremely difficult and are tired of getting team wiped when we try to fight them.... especially when we can't find enough people to form large teams and have to worry about not doing enough damage to receive the badge after working our tails off for 1/2 an hour.

    I don't have the luxury of hand picking who I team with. I am lucky if I find a team who knows basic teamwork. I am getting very tired of hearing the elitests brag about Soloing AVs and having no problems with Giant Monsters.

    Then why don't you go find a harder game to play? Some of us don't have the luxury of hand picking teams and even have to *gasp* bring along Sidekicks to round up enough people for a team. Even then we find some of the Giant Monsters to be so difficult that we have given up even attempting them.

    Why don't you take your accolade heavy, HO laden character and go do some Hami-Raids on your own? That or buy a mirrior so you can look at yourself and be impressed.

    How about providing some facts to go along with your claim? Show us you know how to do something besides make outrageous claims. Try telling us your powersets and what some of these brilliant tactics you used were.

    The fact that you assume that anyone who can't Solo Snaptooth is just not using "better tactics" shows how thoughtless you are. If you want to brag, back it up with some facts. We all know that different ATs and different Powersets work differently against different foes than others do. Instead of [censored]-u-MEing that everyone else is incompetant, show us that you are more than hot air.

    i fought him with a lvl 50 ff/rad, 41 ma/sr, 32 warshade, 32 invuln/ss tank 14 fire/em tank, 26 dark/dark scrapper and 11 FotM Kat/Regen (yes the uber)

    the only way iwas able to beat him was if the team had a lot of aoes, once you defest his LT version and he becomes a bodd mobs of caps start to swarm, we face a good 25 mobs buy the time he was a EB. AOE is the key to sucesss

    Our group defeated him dozens of times with a Team. I simply said that a friend tried to solo him and thought it was impossible.

    Also.... with the team you listed above, I assume you were using Level 41 or Level 32's missions. (You didnt state it in your post and this is also something I specified; Not outleveling the mission) You should easily be able to beat him if you bring in a higher level than the mission holder!

    You don't have to go further than the Snaptooth Missions given by the DJ in Dimension D Dance Club. Snaptooth starts as a Boss and when he dies up pops a harder Boss and when you defeat him, an Elite Boss raises his ugly head. Even if you ignore all the Red Caps and Arachnos Mobs that swarm you when he is attacked, Snaptooth as a supposed "Elite Boss" is harder than many AVs I have fought.

    The Red Caps that guard Snaptooth have a farther range than most Blasters and will ignore the Tanks facing Snaptooth and blow Blasters from the sky. Dozens of Red Caps and Arachnos swarm you as you battle him. Snaptooth himself has AoE attacks that can wipe out any Squishies that try to stay in close enough range to benefit from the "Drops of Power" temporary powers. He also has enough hit points that even tho he only cons as Red, he seems to be tougher than many AVs I have faced.

    I also had a friend who plays a Brute try to solo Snaptooth only to conclude that doing so was impossible; Assuming that you haven't outleveled the mission. I have beat Elite Bosses such as Frostfire and Heracles before so I expected Snaptooth to fit in the same catagory. Just last week my Level 26 Tank easily soloed Heracles.

    This new Elite Boss dodge seems to be more Smoke and Mirrors. We say we don't like facing so many AVs and so they say we don't have to and just make an Elite Boss that is as Hard or Harder than an AV.

    Conclusion : I don't really see alot of difference between an AV and this NEW Elite Boss.

    Unless I misunderstood your comment, you do NOT need to farm missions to get these badges :

    1) BP Masks can be found in Talos in the small city area outside DA at Night. They can also be found INSIDE DA at Night.

    2) Troll Bosses are very easy to find in Skyway. All over Skyway.

    3) Rularru Overlords can easily be found within the Shadow Shards

    I wish they were in more missions so we could cut down the number of street hunts that are necessary but they certainly do not require that you farm a mission.

    Where are you getting this from? It sounds like some paranoid rambling. ED could not possibly be responsible for people trying to keep other people from finding out that, say, Kraken had spawned.

    Would you consider reading what I wrote and keep your trolling down a bit? I said "and Post ED Difficulty <snip> a giant monster's arrival is met with <snip> outright hostility. Seems pretty clear to me and I re-read it 5 times trying to see how you could have misunderstood it. Do you go off flaming everytime you see an ED reference??

    I have posted on the forum before about some of the reactions I get to requests to fight giant monsters. Apathy and Outright Hostility are the normal reaction. They can be found on broadcast if you care to try reading in the game.

    The ease-of-life of the devs needs to come secondary to customer service. Devs should keep up with the badges some other way while making them display to us in a orderly fashion.

    I would find even a minor alphabetical sort available to the players to be a very important feature and certainly hope you consider it.

    If the badges are in some sort of order that makes sense to them, perhaps they could put in some markers that would make it make sense to US??

    Is that something you've changed recently or are planning to change because when I've attempted this in the past only the mission holder gets awarded the badge for patrol missions.
    To me it's seems like it's awarded the same way that a end of mission xp bonus is only awarded to the player who owns the kill x of x hunt in zone mission.

    A group of Heroes went on a patrol mission with another Hero on THIS Sunday. Only the mission Holder got the badge.

The events in the city zones are easier to notice because they are traveled frequently, but the special monster spawns aren't so lucky. I know that you're wary about spawning them more since the Winter Lord event, but it would make the badge hunter's life much easier to at least know there might be a spawn sometime during the day or at least know when a monster has spawned or maybe even make triggers for spawning like Caleb and Deathsurge (like defeating the Hydra in Perez will spawn Kraken to defend them or something).

    There should be a badge given for each unique Arch-Villain defeated. It is a memorable event and should be recorded. I too have several high level characters who have defeated scores of AVs only to have never been awarded the Portal Jockey.

    Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback!


    Here's my Goodie List :
    1) Sniper Badge for killing these dastards!!
    2) Void Hunter for killing Voids and Quantums.
    3) I wish Badges were put into better order or in alphabetical order. Trying to find what badges to need is sometimes tedious.
    4) I wish Gladiator Badges were refered to as Tokens or something else.
    5) I wish there were more accolades and that every Villain Hunt mission tied to one. Accolades are great fun and some of the badges need more incentive to get.
    6) I wish I could click on a badge and get a synopis of what it took to get that badge.
    7) It would be awesome if a couple small Costume pieces were tied to certain badges or accolades.

    Quite Right. I too find certain special effects to be annoying and distasteful and will not play an AT simply for that reason. Normally I hate the Ice and Stone SFX. Why make a nice costume and end up looking like a Devouring Earth or an Ice Cube? Ick! I have played a couple fire Tank/Brutes but again, I find the degree of SFX to be distasteful not to mention having some of my best attacks being done in ways that don't match my concept. I hate Fire Breath and Fire Sword. I am an old time Champions RPG player and SFX and Concept still means something to me.

    When you look at Tanks and so want something without that "Glowie Crap" you find yourself severly limited. Invuln is it for Primary and Super-Strength or EM for Secondary. Gets old fast.

    I did finally give in and Tried an Invuln/Axe Tanker but have major misgivings. Not only is the End Use horrendous but the Axe attacks KNOCK-BACK the foes all ove the place and I waste too much time chasing them and knocking them INTO other Mobs.

    Allow me to also comment on an earlier point made that I find very good. To be a good Tanker or Scrapper you MUST take MOST if not all of the Powers offered in the Primary or Secondary Pools. You can not be creative like other ATs and add Team Useful powers like Recall Friend, Leadership, Stealth, etc. I have TRIED and always it came down to the point where everything was so Min/Maxed that I couldn't SURVIVE on a team without XXX Power and replace it with a CUSTOM or FUN Power.

    I am sad that CoH went with the boilder-plate design rules it did. As I said, I am a Champions RPG player and am used to being able to Customize and Role-Play everything. If having too many Defensive powers is a Problem (as seems to be by the recent Nerf Wars) I wish they would add some option that would allow you to choose a maximum number of Defensive Powers and STILL have room for a selection of FUN, CREATIVE, TEAM-USEFUL or CONCEPT Powers without being a joke. Having too many Offensive powers would not be a problem, after all you can only use so many attacks in a Chain but having part of your build be CONCEPT would be terrific!
  19. I had the edit window vanish on me except when I was in one exact spot in the base. Take one step and the edit box would vanish. (Finding the spot was a chore in itself)

  22. Can you expand a little on the bug and what it could affect? I am having a serious problem with Twlight Grasp missing as well as alot of instances where no miss is recorded but no healing is done.

    I have my Twilight Grasp double slotted with DO Accuracies.

    Is it possible this is related to the Cone AoE problem?
  23. There are missions when I go SMASH and have fun but too many where the new lack of Status Protection and Toggle drops is making the character a pain.

    I can't keep my Enhancements from goung RED and can't hit with the Accuracies I can manage to afford.

    I haven't played mine in a week.

  25. As long as States played a Tanker and there was just CoH, there was no need for Balance. As soon as The Arena bombed and CoV neared it became a priority? A Priority to the point that they are implementing changes that people take one look at and either mutter in disguse or post negetive comments here in vain??

    All the test results I have seen say that while soloing will still be possible in I5, you will be a Debt-Monger if you try to team. NO WONDER THEY HALVED THE DEBT IF YOU DO MISSIONS!!!

    They also removed debt until Level 10?? Well, I sure as heck am not going to team with any idiots below level 10 who don't care if they die and take the team with them!!!
