  1. Great write up. I particularly liked the rehab sections... as a longtime Defender and sometime Blaster, Corrupting did take a bit of getting used to at first.

So I rolled a Fire/Kin, and let my base Scrapper instincts take over.

  2. Amazing job everyone. Gratz.

Paragon Protector MOG vs. player MOG. 'Nuff said.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every time a PP MoG's, my BS/Regen dies a little bit inside.

Night Widows? The first time I ran into one was a nasty surprise, to be sure. Picked up some quick debt too. They're still a pain, but not exactly difficult to prepare for. Fighting Lost at low levels? Bring Breakfrees. Fighting Arachnos at high levels? Bring Insights. Not that big of a deal, IMO.

And if you run out of yellows, do what I do. Pop Aim + Inferno and hope for the best.

If I remeber correctly, transfusion is not only a pbaoe heal, but it suppresses the targets regen as well. This is good to know when taking on AV's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not PBAoE (the effect is actually centered on the target, not the caster), but it certainly has a -regen component.

If you're going AV/Hero hunting, take at least one /Kin, /Rad, or /Dark along with you. You'll be very glad you did.

Second, are these the "hard numbers" we are supposed to have before selecting the power choices? I'd really like to know what the resist % is on the armor before deciding if its even worth wasting the endurance on having it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    QFE.

What's the % resist on Charged Armor? How much end does Power Sink drain, and how much is restored? What's the mag and duration of Electric Shackles?

The fact that these are permanent additions to a character can not be over emphasized. The Test Server is a useful tool, but I shouldn't HAVE to copy my toons over to test and play through 100 hours of content to make sure I'm getting a power worth keeping.

Will it stack if I hit the same villain with it, or does it have to at least be different targets?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, it stacks on the same villian. Kinetics is the ultimate power set to have when facing an AV -- Once a Kin gets their claws into something, it is pretty much a worthless mob.

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFE. The first 30 seconds of an AV fight can be pretty dicey sometimes, but if your team can last that long, it's only a matter of time 'til the AV falls.

    Edit:

For the OP, in regards to power pools. I believe you forgot to mention that Hover and Acrobatics provide knockback protection, a VITAL asset to a Kineticist. As a Kin/ or a /Kin, you'll be spending a lot of time in melee where your powers are most effective. You'll be severely hindered if you don't have some KB protection.

I think that Acrobatics is a better option, personally, but it requires 3 power picks. If you were going to go this route, I'd take CJ, SJ, and Acro, and skip Inertial Reduction.

Hover doesn't have a prerequisite, so it is a better option sometimes. I run Hover + Inertial Reduction in my respec build (with no conventional travel power). It's not perfect, but it alows you to fit in an extra power if you're tight on space in your build.

Is it psychotic to jump into a crowd you know you could handle if you just had one heal from the outside and scream "here I go, save me"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did something similar to this the other day... I'd just reactivated my account and respecced my lvl 38 BS/Regen...

Ended up on a 6-7 person team doing the Paragon Protector arc (yeah, you know the one). Midway through the mission the team's scattered all over the map, and I'm alone in a hallway, staring at a full sized team spawn of orange, red and purple PP's with no fewer than 3 bosses in it...

I type in team chat "I'm gonna' do something stupid. See you when I get back from the hospital." Then I eat ALL of my inspirations (I carry lots of purples / yellows / reds for just such an occasion), pop Instant Healing, and dive in. Pure, unadulterated mayhem.

I get a bit of an assist from the teams 'troller about halfway through, and when we finish the last MoG'd PP in the spawn, the rest of the team's standing in the hallway a bit further down, just watching. The 'troller asks why they didn't help, and the Warshade says "Looked like you two had it under control."

Later on, I went and hunted +3 / +4 Warhulks and Fake Nem's on PI to celebrate. I love being a Scrapper.

    Guide to CoX Zen

    * If a stranger gives you anything (enhancements, buffs, heals, influence, etc.), thank them. Even if you didn't need it.

    * Anyone with an equal number of debt badges and damage badges is not to be trusted.

    * Give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Once.

    * Re: Debt. Learn to recognize the difference between mistakes and bad luck. Learn from your mistakes, curse your luck, and laugh about them both.

    * A bad plan is worse than no plan at all.

    * A bad team is worse than no team at all.

    * If a teammate says "Let me try something," just stand back. They might actually pull it off; if not, you'll have a headstart.

    * When in doubt, pull.

    * There are multiple difficulty settings for a reason. Never be afraid to try a harder setting, and never be too proud to try an easier one.

    * Bad PuG's make for great stories.

    * Anything that cons red or purple deserves your respect.

    * If an experienced Tank or Scrapper says "Run," you probably have less than 20 seconds to live. Take their advice.

    * Try something impossible. The Scrapper who defeats 3 white minions will be forgotten in a day; the Blaster who tries to tank Jurassic will be remembered forever.

    * A good "healer" is no substitute for a good plan. "Get another healer" is not a good plan.

    * Re: Unconventional tactics. If it works, it was a good plan. Vengeance --> Fallout --> Mutate is a perfectly viable strategy, provided all involved parties are in agreement.

  9. I take back every bad thing I ever said about forum trolls. Keep up the good work Bo!

  10. Been putting this off for months. Don't know why, it was almost completely painless... almost. After some "user error" everything worked out ok though. Thanks man!

  11. Just dropping this in my favorites. Thanks for all your hard work.

  13. Great guide TopDoc. Been meaning to add this to my favorites for a while, so here goes. Thanks.

  14. As far as I know, Divine Avalanche and Parry (from the Broadsword set) are essentially the same, and have undergone no major changes in I5 (aside from the animation fix on Parry). If this is all true, and I'm assuming it is, then either slot it 1 Acc and 5 Def, or 2 Acc and 4 Def.

The 1/5 slotting will give you a slightly higher defense per hit (~40% vs ~36% I believe), but the 2/4 slotting will make it much more reliable, and ensure that you have it double stacked as often as possible. 2/4 is what I would personally reccommend, and is what I will eventually do with Parry on my BS Scrapper.

    Good luck,
    Dr. Rob
  15. Great guide man. Just wanted to drop a reply real quick to facilitate adding this to my favorites... when I finally get around to leveling my D3 (so many alts, so little time), this is sure to be an invaluable resource. Until then, I guess I'll go back to the Scrapper boards...

    Thanks,
    Dr. Rob
  16. I read this for the first time back in June or July, and I haven't been able to play a Scrapper since without thinking of this post

And since I just figured out how to put UBB code in my signature... well...

    Thanks,
    Dr. Rob
  17. I wanted to get into Buffer Overrun, but I sortof missed it.. I've been watching this thread for a while, and this team looks like it may even have more potential than all Rad. And that's saying something.

Add to that the fact that I've had a Kin/Elec in the works for a month or so now... well, you've convinced me. I'm in man. I'll re-roll her tonight
