Quote:Hey no slacking off, we've got another Issue 20 sneak peak to get yet.I love ZP, however don't always have the time to watch it. This invariably leads to me sitting at my desk, writing documentation and cackling with glee as I catch up on back "episodes".
*cracks whip*
Back to work you! -
The best example of him 'hating' a game everybody loves was Batman Arkham Asylum.
He even prefaces the review with something along the lines of, "yes the game is great but you don't come to me to seem me lavish praise on a game, besides if you want that you can just go read one of the many reviews...now down to the nitpicking!"
He even ends it with, "the things I've complained about are so relatively minor that they don't make much of an impact on the game as a whole."
In more recent memory he's lavished praise on Minecraft, though pointing out that you REALLY need to read the wiki and have a project or goal in mind when playing the game otherwise you're not going to get much out of it. -
Actually the other thing that has curbed Speedsters is the fact that more people want to get a decent number of Incarnate Shards out of a Taskforce, thus was born the 'Kill most' Taskforces as I like to call them, where you're going for the objective but you're killing everything on the way to that objective.
-
Can you imagine Lesbian Ham?
(edit: For those not in the know this is a quote from the TV series 'The Mighty Boosh' where the creature offering one of the characters anything they could dream of responds to the exact same question as above with this answer...yes I am explaining the joke but sometimes you have to be careful in case people throw a wobbly) -
If they get the job done, doesn't matter, sanity is optional when world saving.
I'm basically taking only 1 of my 6 level 50's Incarnate BUT I'm probably going to focus on getting her the very rare slot in each of them. -
The alignment merits offer a MASSIVE way of making inf pretty damn fast plus they're kind of the thing which keeps on giving.
Alright lets say you're an honest to Jehova (please don't stone me) soloer, as in you never team, ever.
Most, if not all, of the level 45-50 story arcs award enough for atleast one A-merit and to level up you will have done a bucketload of them.
Now it takes you, 6 days to earn 2 A-merits + the however many normal merits (I forget is it 20 or 50?) you get the first time you do an alignment mission which doesn't award a normal A-merit.
So you use those 2 A-merits to buy something like...Luck of the Gambler +def/+global rech. That sells for anywhere from 150-200 million.
Now take 20 million of that easily earned inf + the merits you earned from the first alignment mission and go buy an A-merit, in 2 days time you'll have enough to buy a second LotG: +def/+global Rec meaning you now have, at the least, 280 million.
It goes even quicker if you did do all the story arcs on the way to 50 and didn't spend those merits, since you can buy additional A-merits probably bumping up your total to somewhere round 600 million in the space of a week.
It really is that easy to make cash with A-merits. -
Hmm..
Alright we know that non-level 50 TFs can be awarded the WST.
Now as someone said earlier in the Thread this actually opens up another option.
Wait for one of the Solo friendly Taskforces (Positron part 1 is very much so, part 2 with Dr Vahzilok is basically an Elite boss with an Archvillain tag, one of the Shadow Shard taskforces doesn't end in an AV, I've duo'd the Manticore TF with Shivans and a buttload of insps) to be chosen then have at it.
Now we don't know what the award for the new Incarnate Trials are so they're an option to award a NotW unless they award their specific salvage -
Quote:Exactly, under my suggestion (woo sounding all political there), the solo option is still a mahoosive time investment without appearing that they are are giving soloers the middle finger, which in this case, by Jehovah does it look that way.And teaming would still be rewarded under the more reasonable idea of Dr. M.
Seriously, tone it down a tad devs. -
I seriously doubt this is what it is going to end up being as.
If it is then erm...wow.
There's making the solo option hard then there is making the solo option HARD.
If they stuck with the basic metric of 'double the cost to upgrade each rank' so it goes 4 shards, 8 shards and then 16 shards to upgrade any uncommon to a Notice of the well which means that would be a full cost of 28 shards per notice. Which is still quite an investment in shards for even a non-soloer who wants their Very Rare that much quicker.
so a Favour of the well would be 56 + 32, 88 shards then you've got to add the cost of making the common and uncommon salvage, which is a further 16 shards bringing the total to make the Very Rare on shards alone (this is without including actually making the 2 required Rare slots as well) to 104 shards, considering you're lucky to get 3 Shards doing the 5 daily tip missions, that represents a big time investment without appearing, as this currently does, to be frankly ridiculous. -
Quote:True. The only problem I would have with an all MM STF is that it would be too easy, and I like a challenge.
The classes that are commonly scorned are the ones I enjoy on my teams most. I like to throw aside preconceptions. Each new team for me is a unique experience. Thank you fellow players for being special.
Hmm an all Hami MM raid...
Actually lets work out the numbers of that
50 MMs.
6 pets apiece (lets not bring in Dark Servant, Gang warfare etc. it'll just get too complicated).
300 pets.
350 things all crowded into that zone.
Would it crash the server? -
Also if you notice things have periods of lax and tense.
Once that other Super Hero MMO came out, proved to be a flop after a certain period (it actually had lower subscriber numbers than CoH currently does within a couple of months apparently) then they became slightly more lax with the release of information.
Now another Super Hero MMO has just come out they implemented the forum wide ban on videogame discussion (lets face it, this was the real reason) and are playing their cards very close to their chest, everything is a lot more tense.
Personally I reckon if that other game doesn't do well then we'll probably see another lax period, both of the INCREDIBLY stupid forum ruling and of information. -
Quote:Agreed.
Yeah that policy is bad but I KINDA get it.
Removing pix that basically get your players pumped to BUY a pack? . . .
Uhhhhhh???? You got me.
Those items are already in the pack, they're ready to go, so it's not like the old 'we didn't intend for you to see that, its not ready' excuse comes in (like say, the accidental reveal of the full list of abilities with then in-progress Incarnate system during Issue 18 beta). They use that in order to cover their backsides if we see something that's being worked on but they're either still working out the kinks or not even sure if it will be implemented yet.
For pictures of an upcoming pack it literally is a case of
Quote:Players: Hey guys, look at this! This pack is going to be so coool!
Marketting: ARGHARGHARGH we didnt show you that, its not on our schedule, did we say you could see that! *snatch away* PUNY HUMANS!
Players: ....wha? -
More often than not I'll take an MM due to both the obscene amount of firepower they can kick out (Thugs/Poison, Thugs/Traps and Thugs/Dark or Bots/Poison, Bots/Traps and Bots/Dark can solo an AV one on one with only a little IO usage) along with the debuffs/buffs they bring.
Reminds me, wouldn't mind doing an All Mastermind LRSF/STF. -
Most of the STF is doable if you know what you're doing.
Those who were working into the taskforce for the first time need merely to mention it at the start and an old hand at the taskforce would explain what they needed to do as they went along.
Though all but the Thorn Tree, Ghost Widow, Sirocco (who merely requires the squishies standing further back than normal to avoid his killer AoE) and Lord Recluse are your standard Tanky Spanky fights. -
Quote:You could say...During one of the winter events a while ago, I think it was the first one we got the jingle jet for... A friend of mine had a female tanker and when she'd taunt with the jingle jet active, she mooed. Very distinct moo too, not just a trick of the ears.
*puts on sunglasses*
...she was a real cow. -
The fact they haven't released the pack yet is abominabull.
I say they should just take the bull by the horns and release it, I mean do they want to cause udder chaos with all this teasing?
Frankly I find this constant teasing to be a load of bull, if they just got a moooove on we could have this pack now.
Ok I'm done. -
So the general forum consensus seems to be 50% one way and 50% the other (roughly).
As I said, I've said my piece, personally find having to wait a month annoying but...eh...it's not like we're going to convince the devs otherwise at this point in time since Issue 20 is only 2-3 months or so away (by my reckoning).
Honestly I'm quite glad at the idea of X.5 issues, smaller issues, inbetween regular ones which means you don't have a large gap of 4-5 months inbetween Issues where you get nothing and personally would like them to do it more often. -
Yup not seen it before myself, give me a mo and I'll post a basic picture of it, it's accessible under Mask with hair or Full mask setting.
Edit:
Random Discovery!
The "Tiger" and "Cheetah" patterns are now called "Tiger 1" and "Cheetah 1" which suggest that the 100 meg patch wasn't just the hotfix included but also included things from the Animal pack. -
-
My personal view is just let us craft the damn thing.
It's a rare, so 16 Shard cost (4 for common, 8 for uncommon, 16 for Rare and 32 for Very Rare...makes sense). The cost to make the Very Rare through that method alone would cost a high number of shards as it is. 32 for two Notices (if you already have the salvage, if not it'll cost 40 per Rare) for both of the Rares, another 32 for two more Notices and then an additional 32 to upgrade that into a Favour of the Well. That's 96 shards!
That way people low on Shards or high on patience can simply wait it out and do the WSTs, I don't have 96 Shards knocking around so I'm in that category anyway, plus with the drop rate being...well luck based (sometimes you get 1 or 2 a Taskforce, other times you get 12) it's still going to take a while for people to save up and use the crafting method as an alternative anyway.
So the Notice isn't time gated but you'll still need to put in the large number of man hours needed if you want to go the Shard only route. -
Quote:This is my problem with it. It really doesn't lend itself well to the ethos of those who would focus on a single character through the Incarnate system which seems to be the whole point of the Incarnate system as offering an alternative to the 'IO out a character, then roll an alt' style of endgame. There's something I find quite interesting about the Incarnate system and how it's time-gated. The goal of end game raiding - as I've seen it requested - seems to be to provide infinite progression for one character, to suit those who don't like to make alts. Which is fair enough, I suppose, except for the part of time-gating, which actually punishes those who focus on just one character, as that character will be spinning his wheels until next week, vs. people who play multiple characters simultaneously, as those will be able to swap and get several times the progress.
I'm not saying whether that's good or bad, it just seems... Self-contradicting, as I understand it. How ARE we expected to play this?
I have 1 character I'm taking through the Incarnate system, if I had 4 or 5 then I'd definitely see more use out of the WST but the fact I've got one character who I want to advance I assumed that the Incarnate system would be a good fit, I can focus on outfitting that character alone.
Then the time-gating of the frankly ridiculous level (a week? Really?) comes in with the Rare and Very Rare...Look saving up 32 shards is going to take me long enough (especially since the drop rate seems to have dived, I use to get 7-10 per TF, now I'm lucky to get 4), let alone then having to wait a further 2 weeks ontop of that.
I suppose atleast they're honest and saying "Until Issue 20, we're going to pad the hell out of this process just to make it last longer so it takes you longer to get what you need because we damn well feel like it". -
Ok so now we know what it takes to get the Very Rare Alpha Incarnate Slot.
Don't get me wrong I'm working my way towards getting it but there is this niggling feeling...
Does the fact you have to wait 4 weeks, real time, no matter what amount of effort you put in just come across as padding to anyone else?
Basically the devs going, "Oh people got their Uncommon within the day of Issue 19 launch, we don't want that happening again with the Very Rare, especially now people have had a chance to save up Shards and Salvage, So lets put in a long waiting period on the one specific piece of salvage we've decided they'll need atleast 4 of, with no other way of getting it, so that it'll appear to make the Very Rare more work than it really is!"
I get you don't want people who have horded enough Shards to just blitz through the system and go "Done! What's next?" within 2-3 days of the Issue coming out and to keep people running the Weekly Strike Target but...I can't help but feel as if the time sink aspect of it is just that little too obvious. -
With all the shards and such you're going to need for the Very Rare, might as well run everything anyway :P.
-
Looks like a Fire/FF controller.
Damn that's a funky combination I didn't think I'd see. -
Well if you see you can actually see he started a new character while that film was going.
The first picture has two trays open while the second has but one tray and Brawl along with the Mutant origin starter temp in it.
Something tells me he has altitis...
